you guys and that jumping puzzle lol
cheers for a great matchup, wish i wasn’t so busy this weekend!
Henge of Denravi is in the same situation. And yes it is bad service from for Arenanet to allow such obvious and longstanding problems to go on for over a month like this.
At this point though if nothing has been done I wouldn’t count on anything being done. Considering that I would say you must solve the problem yourself in either action or outlook.
The worse is over at least. You guys probably just have another week to two months before you level out, and transfers are still in effect. You could move to Ferguson’s crossing until Eredon straightens out and then move back.
I know that suggestion isn’t ideal, but if Anet was going to do anything it should have been weeks ago, your choices are either endure it or move away.
its about
295k – Yaks
247k – FA
54k – ET
potential points
310 – FA
205 – Yaks
180 – ET
i’m actually interested in where ET is going. they are within 2 rating points of dragonbrand and as such could swap with them and move down 2 brackets.

i’m not certain a week embargo would fix your issue.
if any damage to balance was or is done by server transfers, 99.9% of that damage is already done.
the major imbalance brought by the transfers is that server full/high status is determined by total people on the server. pvp players and pve. with guesting coming soon pve server population will not matter at all whereas, as you say, wvw server population dramatically affects who wins. So whether or not a wvw guild can move to a server is determined by how many people are PVEing on that server still, even though PVE can be done on any server.
those servers who had wvw guilds stack on them have effectively a much higher population and will always have such as long as the server population status is is a function of PVE populations.
for this reason the embargo won’t help. most of the stacked WvW servers are already stacked and we are already looking at the results of this.
Given the rumours of transfers to FA, I’d say they have a much better chance than YB of staying in tier 3 in the long run, though that might take a few weeks to stabilize.
Assuming the transfers aren’t all a conspiracy i would say you guys have a good shot at beating CD. We were so very very close to winning against CD but simply lacked the euro crew. If we had gotten a hundred or more fighting europeans we could have taken them no problem. I see no reason why FA can’t.
I would assume it’s about as annoying as beating someone in your primetime and then losing to PvDoor while listening to patronizing comments about “superior tactics and coordination”.
FA hasn’t really beat Yaks in the prime time this match up until the past day or two. I get that you guys are used to saying that you’re unstoppable in prime time but that just isn’t what happened last friday. You guys had maybe a couple hundred point lead and as of the end of prime time Friday the match was anyone’s game.
I am well aware that a 1 point lead is technically winning. But the small lead you had just isn’t really enough to claim your server was the superior prime time server. With scores so close it would be foolish to say the match would always play out that way.
@mclovinballs
likewise!
when the 5 or 6 of us rolled in there we had no idea how many of you were there at Godsword. I expected to not find any ET on the map hardly, glad i was wrong. Made for some good fighting. I’m glad to see ET still fielding a good force nightly if even in just that one borderland.
Hello GODS, i was on Yaks at the camp when those eles were there.
I didn’t see anything unusual aside from some very skilled players who know how to build and play their characters well.
good fighting all.. enjoyed it much.
Just found a bunch of bots from Yak’s Bend in the water at FA BL. Some of them were part of the guild Elite[ELT], Cupcakes And Butterflies[cute] and Awesome Squad[AS]. If anyone from these guilds would like to know who these guys are to deal with them, I can send you the names. Wouldn’t want these kinds of people in your guild!
please report them. it is possible and even likely they are not even yaks bend guilds. when a server gains a lead like ours and has good map control from a blowout like this it is common for bots to transfer to that server for the easy and uninterrupted WvW bot farming.
@Wombat
kinda makes you wonder why everyone bandwagoned onto a rank 16 server though doesn’t it?
also, when SOR got a bunch of new people.. everyone knew who those guilds were. i’m still waiting on our new Yaks guilds who transferred onto the server to step forward. i haven’t seen them.
As far as population goes, I have played many different times of day, luckily my employment lets me do that. Anyways have been on FA since the start and I only ever experience wait times to get into WvW for the first few hours after reset on Friday, then never again.
interestingly enough, Yaks Bend is the same.
Some people are talking about the huge zergs on every map and our awesome 4 map superzerg 24 hour coverage. But in reality, aside from maybe friday night US prime time, i can log in and get instantly into WvW.
We have light queues on some maps during NA peak times and some maps have no queues during NA prime. off peak hours maybe we’ll have a queue here and there but off peak we could have hundreds more and be fine.
no, we are playing with a pretty small server. our teamwork and sound play just makes it seem big at times.
i too remember those weeks ago when we fought maguuma and lost. have we even gotten 1 new guild on the server since then? i don’t think so. if we did it wasn’t more than 10 or 20 folks and they aren’t in WvW.
So keep talking about our huge zergs that are sitting on every map. The whole time we’ll be playing on our server with light to no queue times and walking around with more golems than we have people on foot. Did anyone even notice that in those screenshots? There were almost no people on foot.
What in the world happened to ET, I can’t help but feel that the FA vs Yaks would be more even if they were more active but they barely have any presence.
big alliances with great PR teams will do that to ya.
@Vytality
I’m one of the commanders who was helping on that map all day/night friday. I don’t mind telling you our entire strategy so you guys can get together and work on it. I’ll just write it up below here.
First, take your tower and keep near your spawn and throw some arrow carts on them.
Second, go attack the other guys and be as fight as you possibly can.
Third, when map is all green go sleep.
—-
You are now entrusted with the secret strategy of the Yaks. The very one we “did to FA on the ETBL Friday.”
but remember, with great power — comes great responsibility!
One has [GODS] and one has [Gods]. Case sensitivity is complicated.
no. they are the same. it is not complicated.
i did double check the guild name to make sure it wasn’t just the acronym.
although, in all seriousness.. i’m not even trying to make a big deal out of it. i just thought it was funny personally. the part where he was a super secret spy but forgot to turn off his guild tag amused me.
as far as i’m personally concerned very much in my own opinion its a valid tactic. if their guys have fun playing that way and Anet doesn’t mind i don’t mind. I don’t do it myself though because i don’t feel its worth my effort.
No. We were always in FA.
you should tell your guys to not represent when they are on our server sitting on our objectives.
you obviously have not played FA yet. We are tier 3, maybe tier 2 at our best during the first night…. at least until our players log off. Last week we won by over 200k points, yet during offpeak we still struggled to maintain a potential point lead. Although we held on longer than previous matches we still ended up losing a majority of our holdings most nights, not everything like normal but still.
Basically our offpeak presence can be described as somewhere between non existent and a couple guys goofing around
This is why i was looking forward to this matchup. Yaks was a little immature as a server last time we were matched.. We haven’t really added any new guilds I know of but we have really stepped up our game an incredible degree.
Since, no server the past few weeks has been able to really beat us in our NA prime time. We even closed out prime time with CD at +400 to +600 and got nightcapped on just like you say happens to you guys.
Great fighting all night. I really do feel like FA is extremely strong in prime time. I saw a lot of great coordination from some great groups on FA. In the end, as i go sleep Yaks managed to edge it out though.
No offense to my fellow Ascended…. but when I saw we were ending up in 4th tier this week, I changed my weekend plans from DubVee to Dungeons. Thanks to everyone who showed up anyway and carried the rest of us who were too busy farming the MK chest to farm Yaks
farm yaks? nobody has been farming yaks. we logout at 6a.m. and don’t come back until the afternoon. whatever your guys are farming during those hours isn’t yaks.
While I understand the reasoning.
I will miss the dynamic they brought to the game.
Orbs make WvW quite a bit more interesting.
The score kind of makes this matchup look like its not very close.
this is without a doubt every bit as fun if not moreso than the close match we had with SOR and NSP.
I feel like if this match were to go another week there is really no telling if Yaks or CD would win. I wouldn’t put it past DH to catch up either, they’ve had some VERY strong pushes and held their own no doubt.
gg all this is some fine pvp.
@Deified
I noticed the same thing.. they are very good at locking everyone out of the jumping puzzles. My guild goes in force and has mesmers porting us all through pretty fast and we have had some good fights in there.
Its a good tactic to lock out individuals and small groups from the jumping puzzles. hats off to CD for that.
Also, we don’t just have public mumble.
We have public mumble, TS3, and Ventrillo and we can get as many players as anyone wants to bring onto any of these servers.
We have no problems setting your 500 person guild up on ts3 if ts3 is what you want to use.
Basically if anyone wants to be on what is right now a 3rd/4th tier server and have no queue times this is the place to be.
Speaking coverage On Yaks, our weakest time is usually European prime time. Its a shame too, as we offer a server who’s NA prime and late night coverage is extremely strong.. absolutely top tier. As an Oceanic/European one would often find themselves coming into the game controlling a lot of the map full of upgraded keeps and towers.
During US prime time and into the late US hours (towards Oceanic prime time) Yaks hold their own and even dominates the map. We lose most of our points and coverage when its Euro prime.
Not that we couldn’t use more oceanic guilds. Honestly we are punching way over our weight class. We could use more NA/Oceanic/Euro time zone guilds all alike, grabbing a few guilds and still having room to spare. But its true we are just on the verge of having NA queues on every map. Not quite there but close.
Why don’t you guys double team CD? It’s not a dirty way to win, the only dirty way to win is hacking. One of you contact the other and get some teamwork going.
to double team anyone more than one of our servers would have to be online at once.
all joking aside though, @Ilshenar
thats just the way SM works. its a big fat albatross sitting on the center of the map with entrances from every angle.
just ignore the top 3 brackets and you’ll be fine.
i would particularly look at ferguson’s crossing. their bracket has the most consistently balanced games over recent matches. I say Ferguson’s becase the other two servers have had some transfers lately and if people keep going to them it will unbalance the matchup more. Ferguson’s could use a bump right now and the bracket would still be competitive.
otherwise, here is a list of servers that are all competitive in some bracket and don’t have queue issues.
Eredon Terrace
Henge of Denravi
Crystal Desert
Yak’s Bend
Darkhaven
Fort Aspenwood
Maguuma
Dragonbrand
Northen Shiverpeaks
Ehmry Bay
Sorrow’s Furnace
Gate of Madness
Anvil Rock
Borlis Pass
Ferguson’s Crossing
Devona’s Rest
Kaineng
Stonemist Castle at full upgrades speed capped courtesy of the Yak’s Bend Alliance. Took us seriously <7 minutes.
when i first walked in and saw you guys had taken stone mist and nothing else i thought it was a crazy idea.
when i saw it work out and how Yaks owned 50% of EB within a few minutes i realized it was a crazy awesome idea.
i feel like not one of these 3 servers is ever on at the same time as the others.
Yaks wins US prime time every night, then CD takes over, then DH.
Yak’s has never had much of a night crew, it’s a misconception that we do. When other servers complain about us night capping, it’s just US players staying up late on a Friday night. We’ve never had a strong presence in the morning hours.
Anyway, CD can have the map at night, at least we know we win in a fair fight.
Yak’s win in a ‘fair’ fight? You must be joking. There is no fair fight here. CD does not even belong in the same tier as Yak’s.
Not sure I understand you. We beat CD last night when numbers were even. We’re rapidly taking back the map now.
Not sure i understand you either. All i rmb was CD leading 90% of the time on Friday night NA prime time.
No, We were mostly neck and neck but Yaks was in the lead the rest of the night after midnight or so central. by a pretty good margin for a while. we had 100% map on Darkhaven borderland and at least 1/2 to 1/3 on every other. i have multiple screenshots of the night some of which show the map but i’m not going to bother posting them. It doesn’t really matter who led for 3 or 4 hours out of the matchup to me.
Yaks wins friday night in every matchup.. thats nothing new for us. We even had 95-100% total map control friday night the week SOR beat us by a huge margin before the Jade Quarry guilds and them transferred over to their server.
it is because we have several extremely good and coordinated guilds with awesome players who know how to shut down a map. but those awesome players don’t stay logged in 24/7.
I gotta call it a night, this was a very entertaining friday though.
It was an extremely tough night but Yaks finally pulled in the lead about 1/2-3/4 through US friday night prime time. Only just barely though, and it looks like things can change any minute.
cheers all
lots of good pvp was had this day!
@Pendragon
i’m not certain we have had an honest swell of transfers. I’ve not seen one new guild on Yaks Bend in many weeks.
I try not to count unguilded people who swell in and out of servers as they never seem to have the impact on a server that a single guild transferring has.
that and we still don’t have queues on every map even during prime time. usually we don’t have queues on any map. Yaks is still small compared to the servers we are about to be going up against.
However the “Foo” guild and many others who were camping gates in the GoM borderlands the last couple of nights are the ones who are going to give the Yaks server the reputation of being classless thugs. I’ll be very glad when this one-sided, unbalanced absurdity of a match up is done.
“Thug Life” is actually our guild motto. Thank you for noticing.
To everyone else in the matchup — thanks for all those who put up good fights and still showed up to pvp this weekend. I especially had fun in last night’s many supply camp battles.
We all wish it had been a more evenly matched battle, but there were a lot of extremely talented pvpers on SF and GOM’s side who still gave it their all and put up a good fight where they could while being outnumbered.
-cheers!
I must be crazy.
I didn’t think it would be such a far out idea to actually have a human look at the matchups the algorithm spits out and approve/adjust them for quality once a week.
maybe though thats just way too complicated, time consuming, and expensive for Anet to ever implement. it would probably take 1 person a whole 20 minutes a week.. and then there’s europe!
thats like almost an hour.
just not feasible.
@Surbrus
A couple of us guilds on Yaks are actually wondering what is going on as well. We did not want the orb to be moved but our altars are breaking and not respawning. We’re not sure why but worried if the last altar does we’ll lose the orb for no apparent reason.
believe me, it was not our intention to move the orb further from our spawn to a less upgraded keep with no supply. (it is actually next to GOM’s spawn, not ours)

@Enenion
While you are correct that a zerg balling up and countering the thief is absolutely effective. The issue is whether you feel a large group of people having to employ group tactics and teamwork to this degree to counter one individual is balanced or not.
do you truly believe it is? especially when considering this is the only class that this degree of teamwork must be employed to overcome. or am i wrong in this assumption?
the solution seems obvious to me though, revealed debuff each and every time a thief leaves stealth would fix this problem completely.
So yes Sir , cloack and dagger stealth is spammable
I wonder if you know that , when you get out of stealth there is a debuff that immunes you to get into stealth again for a while.
So , no sir.You can’t just spam any kind of stealth.
that is untrue.
you only get the revealed debuff when you attack from stealth.
if you do not attack while stealthed you can IMMEDIATELY restealth. and with reaction times being what they are and the thief knowing the timing it is effectively stealth back to back.
this is how we hold supply camps solo with 20 people in them for minutes at a time.
@Evel
This is typical of Ragnarok. They are one of the finer guilds i’ve had the pleasure of working with in this game.
I’m not a member, but any person who is should consider themselves in great company. I can assure you this one former member is not in any way indicative of Ragnarok’s presence in-game or out.
Most should know by now how Yak’s Bend for the most part conducts themselves respectfully. I would hope by now that we know as a community that all groups large and small can occasionally have those bad seeds that just need to be weeded out or discouraged.
-cheers to all
This GW2 community has been one of the finer MMO communities i’ve been a part of. It would take a lot more than one or two posts in poor taste to change that.
@Devinchi
Which server are you saying is the better server? You said Yak’s Bend in your post but your sig says Sorrow’s Furnace. Maybe a typo?
on my thief, if i play perfectly, i have yet to find a situation where i can be killed by 1, 5, or even 10 enemies.
i know you asked between warrior, guardian, and necro.. but there are ways to build and play thieves that allow the player to pretty much never die unless they screw up. We aren’t all burst damage, and I would argue anyone of the three classes you list would be hard pressed to outlive a well played thief in any situation you want to put one in.
i’d prefer something in between while population distributions are still as volatile as they are.
Its a great server.. We have a heavy PVE population but our WvW pop is on the lower side. Anyone who thinks there is no challenge to be had here has never played on this server or is trolling.
I cannot speak for all of the maps but the ones Foo runs on we typically do split pushes and small group operations. There is some large groups running as well but we all work together to get the same thing done.
I don’t know that we “need” any transfers. But it certainly would be a challenge for anyone wanting to try to make it in the 4th bracket on a historically 5th bracket server.
We typically do very well with our small organized guilds, We have no large 50+ person guilds that are dedicated to WvW so theres always a map or two that have no queue or no strong single guild presence. It wouldn’t hurt if someone filled that role.
Either way we’ll be fine. Competitive in the fourth bracket.. Competitive in the fifth.. its all the same to me. I just like to pvp.
spawn camping make the game worse for the winners and the losers.
this is the reason to not do it. it has nothing to do with anyone’s personal feelings.
@Niim
no individual is thinking they need to bring 3x your numbers. they all just want to pvp so they show up.
Have to commend Sorrows Furnace for an amazing defence of Cliffside in the SF borderlands.
Took 4 hours of INTENSE seige, hell lot of dying, hell lot of repair bills to take it. (for a short while before it got taken back by you guys)
To the commander who defended it: Holy hell, Arrowcarts, arrowcarts everywhere.
ha, i was working on my WvW map completion today and that was the one vista i didn’t have.
Good fight SF keeping me out of it all day! i had a blast.
It wasn’t even night capping tbh. Yak’s had all of the borderlands before midnight pacific time.
it was about midnight to 1 am central so i guess it was night capping for some.. i dunno.
in any case.. we didn’t ask for Jade Quarry to flood into the tier above this one and bump us down to the sixth bracket when we were consistently doing great in the fifth. 100% map control is bad for everyone.
I just hope we can convince our guys to pull off the spawn camping a bit so maybe people won’t login and just leave instantly when they see the ballistas at their spawn. I know SF and GOM can fight us well when the populations are more evened out.
SoR came back and smashed YB well before anyone transferred over.
are you trolling or do you really not know what happened? besides that fact that many guilds themselves claim to have moved to SOR saturday, everyone knows SOR and Yaks were fairly evenly matched before the transfers.
It’s funny how you can be moved down a bracket and actually face stronger opponents. Oh GW2 rankings, you crack me up
sometimes you stay in the same bracket with the same servers and face stronger opponents!
Good fighting last night all.
By the battles we fought after reset into the early hours i wouldn’t have expected to wake and find us in this situation today.
In any case, good show.
Greetings Sanctum of Rall,
I was gone this week end so I dont know what happened yaks was leading at the start, if it was anything like last week they started off by hacking.
You should play more often, your assessment of last week and this week is completely inaccurate. We started off the week by beating the snot out of you guys in an attempt to get an early lead so we could actually get some sleep after the nail biter that was the week before.
We couldn’t have known we’d be fighting Sanctum of the Henge of Jade Quarry all week. Good luck fighting SOS and CD though tonight! Those guys are tough, and SOS just never ever stops.
The main purpose of AOE in WvW is killing siege up above your guys and stopping the enemy from raining down AOE on you casting freely up on the walls.
The mesmer does not lack reliable AOE in that department and in some ways is the best at doing this job. They are the one class that can attack anything they have a target on that is in range.
Not a correction, but it really depends on how you look at it and what your goals are on whether or not the mesmer has “good AOE”
The elementalist, while good at popping siege.. suffers from not being as good as many other classes at everything else. some will argue but if you give them all a fair shake you’ll find the only reason to play an ele is if you like the playstyle or just really want to throw out a killer nuke and wipe some arrow carts and then die 2 seconds later.
Of the three i rank the ranger as having the worste AOE abilities (ignoring the traps builds which i haven’t messed with since beta)
