I think this is a bad idea. Legendaries are intended to require playing in several modes of the game. This would invalidate that.
Also, there is a suggestion sub-forum for suggestions.
there’s also 4 legendary greatswords….
…considering we have two GS legendaries.
Three legendary greatswords, lol
During development they had said that would would not be adding new races due to the need to create new starting areas, storylines, and progression zones. They felt that the amount of work seriously impeded their ability to move the game forward. They may change their collective minds about that, but I seriously doubt it.
If, however, they do create new races, it probably won’t be the Tengu, Skritt, nor any such thing. Charr characters only make up 13% of the characters being played, with Asurans only being slightly ahead (due to their inherent advantage in SPvP). In their PAX Q&A, they were asked about armour fixes for the Charr, and they pretty much said it is low on their list of things to do because most of the plaers are human or norn.
Anet is basically going to look after the needs of their majority player base – that’s just good business sense. The majority player base is decidedly human.
edit: This would seem to me to be the wrong sub-forum for this post. Is the Living World sub-forum the new dumping ground for general topics?

Asura were a mistake, so were Charr, and for that matter so were the salads.

They need to do something useful with charged quartz. They added another mat with it, gave us one single quartz node in our home district and time gated it like crazy. For everyone who doesn’t want Celestial gear, it’s pretty much worthless. Sure you can sell it, but it’s not worth the bother of mining it every day and wating to create a charged quartz to sell. I haven’t touched the node in my home. It’s a waste of time and storage space. If they fail to require it for something else, it will fade into utter worthlessness.
You will be able to buy as many mini motos as you like from regular Moto for Bauble Bubbles. (Say that five times fast.)
Okay, here goes:
You will be able to buy as many mini motos as you like from regular Moto for Bauble Bubbles. You’ll will be able to buy many mini motors you like from regular Moto for Bauble Bubbles. You’ll be able to buy many mini mothors you like from regular Moto’s Bauble Bubbles. You’ll buy as many mini mothers like you from regular Moto’s Blabber Bubbles. You’ll buy your mother’s mini bladder bubbles like….
er, fail?
Tribulation mode? /Yawn
Sure, I’ll knock that out in between my dailies and grabbing another charged crystal thing. Why not?

OP, look at the bright side: A slap in the face is better than a kick in the youknowwhat.
Having said that, I’m really glad to have SAB returning. Dragons are so terribly boring and unoriginal.
(edited by havoc.6814)
I personally think that SAB should break out of the box. Bee Dogs should overrun Rata Sum, Bun-nadoes should sweep up the asura (who are surely related to bunnies) and a giant king toad shold stand in all trading posts licking all the TP traders to death.
Maybe some smiley clouds to roam about the world raining on peoples immersion since they’re going to complain anyways.
It would be awesome.
Sorry but ascended weaponry will be a requirement if you don’t wanna lag behind others in WvW… It’s already bad enough you can feel slightly hampered being in exotic trinkets if your enemy has ascendeds… Imagine if the gap is enlarged by weapons as well which are the biggest chunk of effectiveness when it comes to gear.
You’re kidding us, right? Half the people in WvW have greens with a smattering of blues and rares, and are levelled up to boot. Add to that the fact that they are safely enclosed within the zerg. Being at a disadvantage with exotics? Right….
Actually, Celestial gear is good if you do the math. And if they added extra stats to offset the MF then it will automatically be the gear of choice for anyone that doesn’t focus 3-4 specific stats (Full Glass/Bunker builds).
Example:
Say normally you get 200 stat points and it is divided as 90 Major, 55 Minor (x2). And Celestial gives you 210 total stat points divided into 35×6 + critical damage. If you increase the total stat then it becomes an automatic choice for a lot of builds. Say it was 40×6 to offset then you get 240 stat points. That is 40 stats more than a normal triple stat gear. Therefore you get a free stat and have critical damage.
Celestial is fine with or without MF. People like myself bought it because the math showed that it was a good set to use if you need at least 4-5 stats in your build.
Just adding total stats together means nothing. What is important is the weight of those stats which you can bring to bear in combat, and those stats don’t have the same weight (they are not worth the same in combat). If all of the stats had the same weight then everybody wouldn’t be running zerker gear. It’s really not that hard to figure out.
Saying that Celestial gear is good is just wrong. It’s okay for a very few builds, but only okay. So you need 4 or 5 stats? Then buy your armour pieces from two seperate armur types (Zerker and Knights, for example). Mix and match and you can get the exact stat allocation you desire, instead ofsettling for “everything has the same stats”. Decide which stats you need and how many points you want in those stats and buy your gear accordingle. It’s really easy.
Sorry but I’m tired of hearing this rediculous argument. It’s just wrong.
(edited by Moderator)
You’re kidding me, right? So now we have negative posts about negativity? Really?
So, when your grandmom gives you an ugly sweater for your birthday, do you actually tell her how poor of a choice it was?
… because I just smile and tell her I love her.
I don’t believe that the two factions are so incompatible in these events as many are making out. I’m a farmer – big time – and yet I have only seen a few of the events fail. Most are completed with time to spare. Completionists can ascertain that the events are completed by doing the events that the farmers ignore, and relying on the farmers to knock out the other ones. It’s actually quite easy.
The only point of contention is the loot distribution: Farmers will get alot more loot. I don’t really see this as a valid complaint from the completionists though, since they consistantly have the same options that farmers have. In choosing event completion over farming, they literally choose to get less loot – and then complain about it! That’s just utterly rediculous. They made that decision.
The only real problem that I see is that completionists wrongly insist that others play the game their way, and get all bent out of shape about it. It’s really not their concern how others choose to play. Farmers, on the other hand, do not insist that completionists stop doing their thing. Quite the opposite is true: as a farmer, I am happy knowing that somebody out there is working on event completion, so I can also get Scarlet’s goodies in addition to what I’m farming. Go completionists!
Note that many of the above statements are true only in regards to the invasion events, and not other areas of contention.
(edited by havoc.6814)
Same here, created characters within minutes of the game going live for head start, and have yet to receive a single birthday gift.
I have also not recieved a single gift. I created four characters within minutes of the headstart release. I smell an “Oops!” on the works. It’s okay though, Anet will get it fixed
Actually, rather than reversing the removal of culling, how about giving us the option to get rid of particle effects. I mean totally get rid of them. I still see fields of white and an enemy name tag somewhere in the whiteout during invasion events. Nothin in the world is so ugly as that. It is absolutely not useful, and it eats up my fps.
Further nerfing the event won’t help, it just drives farmers to try harder to milk all they can out of the event. How would you like people running into one of the events, looking for a champ, and then immediately leaving for the next one if no champion is there? This is literally what it will turn into.
A better solution is to improve the reward for killing Scarlett in such a way, that there is a real incentive to complete the event quickly. A varied reward based on the time it took to complete the event should do the trick nicely.
Commander icons are a real problem in the game because anybody can just buy one. That means that the commander doesn’t necessarily have any about clue what he is doing. A troll can truly interfere with the progression and outcome of events in both PvE and WvW by simply putting up his commander icon and lead all of the drones around by the nose doing counter-productive things.
I think all commander tags need to be taken away from players and their 100 gold investment refunded. Then they should be made available based on merit. They should be every bit as difficult to acquire as a legendary (but without the rediculous ability to just buy one on the TP), requiring a great deal of experience in the game to get.
There should be two types of commander tags, one for WvW, and one for PvE. They should only be displayable in their prospective areas. No tags should be displayable in cities. Individual players should also have the option to not display those tags on their map and mini-map.
You are totally wrong OP. I get ressed all the time and res others as well. The only time I see people not being ressed is if there is a waypoint really close. Also you are not being pressured or forced to farm in any way. Those people farming these events are also not preventing you from working to forward them. Writig a wall of text doesn’t make your complaints any more correct. Wrong is wrong, and you are wrong.
I get it that you don’t like farming, but that’s kinda your problem. You shouldn’t come here and demand that everyone else be denied that which you dislike. Time to get off of your high horse and let other people play as they like. Seriously, just get on about your business and ignore the farmers. It’s not rocket science, nor is it difficult.
10k+ achievement points means nothing. We have someone in our guild with that many points and he is a terrible player. I had to carry him through the Funhouse, for crying out loud. By that I mean that I went in with him and did the whole thing myself, getting him the achievements for saving Faren within 3 minutes and not dying. He did nothing the whole time, because I told him to do nothing, so he wouldn’t die. He couldn’t do it himself, and he couldn’t do it as part of another group despite a dozen attempts. This also isn’t the first time I have had to carry him.
He is a great guy, but a bad player; that’s all okay, not everybody is good at the game. Again 10k+ achievement points means nothing at all. Since that is the basis of your whole claim that “even great players” are burning out, I have to say that you are wrong.
As for there being too much content released too quickly: I had every achievement in this update done yesterday, 2 days after the update came out, and I didn’t play on the day of the update. That doesn’t sound like too much content to me. If anything, I wish they would pick up the pace.
(edited by havoc.6814)
You have a glass cannon build with sub-par equipment and are going up against 4 opponents; what did you think would happen? The idea behind a zerker build is to kill foes before they can kill you. Your gimping yourself with subpar equipment. You won’t do enough damage to make it work, and the lack of defense will just dee you dead faster. This fight is a bit of an anti-zerker fight anyways; did you notice how when one dies, the rest heal up all the way?
Honestly, drop the off-hand axe for a shield and the rifle for a greatsword. Change out Signet of Fury for For Great Justice, and the Banner of Discipline for Endure Pain. Change your traits up accordingly. Look at maybe taking a different heal; Healing Signet with heal on crit food works wonders. Add a regeneration booster if you have one laying around.
Take out the melee first. Pick one and burst him down. Use the Rush (GS 5 skill), follow with Hundred Blades, Whirlwind and switch weapons mid-whirlwind (don’t wait for it to finish) then shield bash and eviscerate on your target. Now he is dead. If you used Endure Pain, you are not.
Now take out the second melee (because he is right there), use the same attacks on him. Stay out of red circles (he follows you since he is melee, so pick where you fight.) You may go down during this fight, but you should be able to get back up with a few rocks. It’ll be that close.
The remaining two aren’t so much a problem (I mean, you survived four of them by this time, right?) Remember to close quickly or use shield block while moving, use your cripples if they try to move out of melee, and dodge/whirlwind like a maniac, because why run when you can whirl.
(edited by havoc.6814)
I run sword/shield with Greatsword. I savage leap at a foe, switch to GS and 100 Blade him, Whirlwind through him, switch back to sword and Savage Leap and Flurry, back to GS for 100 Blades and Whirlwind, repeat ad infinum. with fast hands I never have to wait on a weapon swap, and the skills are on quick cooldowns.
Savage leap is cripple, and Flurry stops ’em dead. If they want to get tricky with dodging/teleporting/running away, I still have Rush as a closer, Shield Bash for a shorter closer and stun, and Bladetrail for another cripple.
When they drop under 50%, I throw in Final Thrust, sometimes using shield bash first. All in all it works great in PvE and WvW. I don’t think it would work so well in TPvP though….
(edited by havoc.6814)
They should just have npc’s that are standing there rez dead players. That would solve alot of the frustration, and is easily doable.
Lol, there is nothing refreshing or fun about poor camera angles, bugs, and gross skill lag.
I’m pretty sure it’s a bug. One of many. Unfortunately Anet won’t fix it in a timely manner, because they are to busy nerfing everyones farming. Amazing how fast those things get fixed.
I refuse to rez people who don’t rez, but rez everyone else. I even have a list. I’ve caught out 9 people so far and explained to them why I wasn’t rezzing them in public chat. Best was one guy who started to get a rez from others til I said something. then he lay there at 90% while all ignored him.
I’d like it if they were sneaking in secret content during all the releases without telling us. A very well-hidden jumping puzzle here, a new mini game there, some new areas that can only be reached by secret passageways or portals; all waiting to be discovered someday by some lucky adventurer.
How cool would it be to find such a place, only to have the devs go “Pfft, thats been there for the past half year….”
Give it up OP, I tried the same argument a while back. What you are going to get is all of the vicious mesmers in the game coming here and attacking you for daring to call their portals into question, and they will be backed up by all of the people who are to lazy to do the jumping puzzle themselves and just want the goodies for free. Unfortunately, that is the greater part of the forum dwellers, if not the gamers.
The only thing really unbalanced in PVE is the dodge button. It is seriously OP! Anybody who knows how to use it will roll over any mob in their path. Those who don’t know how to use it will get to watch others rolling over mobs. Now, here is a little hint: use that face down time to watch the battle and learn when to dodge. Then you can be OP also
I have Bolt, and I didn’t buy it in any way. I got lucky on a precursor drop after nine months of patience and fortitude. I played the game for the rest of it. I played the whole game; I ran dungeons, did events, and was active in WvW. I spent nine months working on that legendary weapon.
I got the legendary, but not to impress you; who are you, after all, that I would need to impress you? I got the legendary because it was a long term goal. It gave me something to work towards after reaching level 80.
Legendaries don’t impress me, but I do pity those who feel the need to be so vapid towards them. Legendaries really aren’t so special; it’s true – and yet, whatever junk weapon you’re using doesn’t have a fraction of the threads on these or other forums devoted to it as do the legendaries.
As for legendary wielders being bad in WvW. Three thieves yesterday thought that also. They ambushed me while I was strolling along all by my lonesome. Three against one. Thieves against a warrior. They died, and then died again, because they just couldn’t believe that a legendary wielder might just be legendary himself. I am legend. My weapon is merely a warning, and the only one you’ll get. Come at me.
(edited by havoc.6814)
But actually, thinking about it more, Arcing/Rush/100b. All those could be moved, but what would it do?
What if the CD on 100B was reduced and it moved to 5? WHat would happen if 100B went to burst and Arcing went main bar? Trying to remember the bar + all the names from memory, sorry if I messed it up again.
All around bad ideas here. Reducing the CD on 100B just means that bad players will spam it even more (ignoring their other skills) and die even faster. Putting 100B on burst will kill it, and kill the warriors adrenaline usage at the same time – this would totally destroy the weapon for all game modes.
Don’t fix what isn’t broken. Leave 100B alone. It’s really simple. Give the warrior aditional options other than just 100B when attacking. Fix Rush and Arcing Slice, because the one is broken and the other is worthless. This is really easy to do:
I actually think you should look at all of the warriors burst skills and ask yourself how each and every one of them compares to the 10 additional skills and boons that an ele gets. Compare these individual skills to the burning, aegis, and healing on demand, couple with equally great passives of the guardian.

If you like me, hate me, loath me, don’t know me or don’t care what I have to say atleast hear me out on this one subject.
For the longest time one of the main reasons I personally stuck to my Warrior was the community. They were so supportive, so determined to be heard and respected as a class. Because of that community I’ve come to meet and like/befriend a number of Warriors that talk frequently on the forums. Warriors who play completely different games (essentially), some WvW some PvE, some sPvP.
The one thing we all shared was a will to be better. Because of that we all did what we could, shared builds, talked strategies, supported each others streams and learned together how to play this class better.
However, I’ve noticed an increasing trend from Warriors on the Warrior forum. Bad mouthing, putting people down, criticism in an un-constructive manner and general depressing trolling. These actions made me reflect on the community that I’ve grown to love over the past 10 months.
I essentially came to the conclusion that for the few people who are intentionally trying to rain on everyone else’s parade; you need to re-evaluate your concept of contributing to the community.
Bringing each other down doesn’t help to raise the bottom line. As a class we have a stigma in the PvP community. Myself and others are trying our best to bring awareness of our class to the rest of the public. It’s an uphill battle, we fight closed minded perceptions and an unwillingness to learn and accept changes or new concepts.
Please don’t force us to fight within as well as fight others when it comes to the validity of our class.
United we stand.
The reason why I think people are trolling you and a few others is you guys are making the warrior sound like its ok. and its not ok its better. So its got to the point warrior is actually playable now. Barely playable, we dont want warrior to be barely playable we want it to be good. Everytime I see one of these posts where I dont know if its opposite trolling or just people that have low standards or what not saying “there is nothing wrong with warrior” Its guuuuud now. It makes a lot of us mad. Cuz that kinda attitude is not whats got anet to make changes to warriors, and with that kinda attitude they will do nothing more to warrior to make it good.
Warriors as a whole aren’t in a great spot that’s for sure. You can’t use rifle, or hammer in high end PvP. We’re limited to only a handful of builds that really make us work to have it be successful.
But that last word is why we’re viable, not OP or rediculous, but viable. We have successful builds that do work.
They may pigeon hole us, put us in a spot we’re not used to, or a playstyle we’re not accustomed to, but they work.
Plenty of other classes play the same way, many mesmers would love to run Mantra, but they can’t, they are stuck with Shatter.
The key is their community has come to the conclusion that for now, they have a viable build that’s working for them. It’s not perfect, it doesn’t do exactly what everyone would want. But it works.
We’re in a similar position. We have a handful of builds that work, they aren’t the most amazing or will rock someones socks off, but they work.
Only time and constructive feedback will fix the other issues, but for now we can’t go around saying we’re kitten poor when at a bare minimum, we’re viable.
—
Also in regards to low standards. I don’t think it’s a matter of low standards, but a matter of I’ll take what I can get. We havn’t been viable in a long time, to have something worth playing as right now is better than having nothing before hand.
I’m not sure if people are aware but a number of the changes ArenaNet made were requests that this community gave. Cleansing Ire was a specific request that was made by Daecollo! Although they implemented it slightly different, it still works exactly the same way.
“Plenty of other classes play the same way, many mesmers would love to run Mantra, but they can’t, they are stuck with Shatter. "
Stopped reading the thread right here. You really want to compare us to mesmers and say we are in the same boat?
You, sir, are either a fool or a troll.
Before, every ‘failure’ opening a chest would not provide you with any progress toward the item you wanted.
Now, every ‘failure’ will still reward you with a token. So if you ‘fail’ enough times, you will be rewarded in the end.
You incorrectly assume that everyone who gets one of these chests wants one of those weapon skins. I, for one am more interested in some of the other extremely rare drops from the chests, and would rather have the keys for another try at those items, than a few points toward a weapon skin that I don’t want.
His complaint was quite valid.
(edited by Moderator)
I don’t know how this managed to get sidetracked into an argument about precurser drop rates. The OP is about achievement points, and they have nothing to do with precursors.
OP is right, the achievement points are really out of whack, and not just in comparison to wvw achievements. Look at the legendaries: 5 points for creating one. All that work and dedication for 5 points. A simple jumping puzzle gives 10 (a few minutes of play). There are many other examples.
Achievemnet points are totally messed up.
These points are not exclusive. Anybody can still get these points just by playing GW1.
If you really want the points, then you’d best spend your time getting them instead of crying here. If you don’t want the points, or are simply too lazy to get them, then kindly keep quiet.
You aren’t. You are “forced” to craft it if you want one specific set of gear.
I’d rather not have to run AC for tokens for a legendary, but I certainly don’t think it is something “forced” on me.
If said gear was the only viable option in pve/w3, then I could see your point. Although it takes all of ten minutes to master a craft to 400.
Your point about not being forced to craft it is correct. Crafting a profession to level 400 only needing 10 minutes is a bit of a rediculous statement though. Maybe if you strted at level 370….
unless they can post multiple screenshots of chests they pop containing Charged Cores. (which they won’t b/c most of them don’t even have the right servers or skill to complete those Encounters)
Oh great master, tell me how you can comprehend a players in game ability from a forum thread!
It doesn’t take a lot of comprehension to see that you are not really contributing anything to the discussion and are only trolling those with a legitimate question.
Edit: I have had a charged lodestone and a charged core drop in the past day. This without farming them or even doing CoE. I’ve no idea from whence they dropped even, just that they were in my bags when I cleaned them out, which I do regularly.
“On top of this, you’ll also see new legendary weapons and new types of legendary gear in 2013.”
I hope it is legendary armor.
This! I want some legendary boots. Call them Air Logan’s. Make me run real fast.
He wasn’t asking for opinions about his build. Also, didn’t you see the disclaimer at the end?
He doesn’t have to ask for an opinion. Posts on this forum are supposed to promote discussion. Hence, I’m discussing. It’s as simple as that.
I really feel sorry for those people who have such a problem with a bit of negativity. I notice the OP himself took it in stride.
-snip-
I wish I could give you a good re-cap however I honestly don’t remember it…
Must have not been that memorable, I guess. Probably not worth raising a fuss about, if you can’t even remember what it was….
Yup, I’m loving these fast-paced updates with lots of new things to see and do. Now if they could just figure out how to make permanent content….
Got any other exaggerated pouts you want to throw out there before the update?
PS: This update isn’t even a balance patch. The other professions didn’t even get anything.
Got any other pointless comments or random trolls you want to throw out there?
PS: I don’t think anybody here claimed it was a balance patch.
People.. it is not immunity, it is 100% cond reduction, which means even if you have 10% cond duration your bleed will still tick at least once etc..
It wont. Test it and please stop spreading misinformation
You stop! I haven’t just tested it, I main a warrior and run with this. I know kitten ed well how it works, because I see it all the time. Stop telling people that it gives immunity to conditions. That is a bold-faced lie. Just stop it, Mr. Necro!
it rejects 100% of condi base duration. If you have additional duration (30/30/10 necro for example) your conditions will still land, they will just have severely shortened durations for 8 seconds. It is honestly a good idea IMHO, good possibilities for counter play and possibly even counter-builds if warriors are as deadly to necros as OP thinks they might be.
This isnt how it works. You nullify all conditions.
And I think this change will have a positive effect. I just dont like the paper/scissors/rock design direction.
Wrong. It works exactly like Reedju said.
It stops 100% base condition duration on newly applied conditions only. It does not effect conditions already on the warrior, and it will not stop conditions which have increased condition duration (just remove the base codition duration – in effect shortening it to the length of the increase.)
This dude is just testing stuff to the limits. Give him a break.
Give me a break. He comes here and writes 24k+ dmg in his title like it’s an every day occurance. Other people see the 24k+ and then the crying about how strong warrior burst is starts up. They don’t bother to watch the video, the just note the 24k+, which was done a gainst an up-levelled light armour character that was not even using skills. They also dont see the 10.7k hit on a level 80 necro.
I am quite right in pointing out the truth concerning his damage. If you don’t like it, then too bad.
It is bad. Sorry, but that is WvW with a full berzerker build, full exotic zerker gear with ascended zerker amulets, and banner of discipline, signet of might, and FGJ. Full zerker is not good in wvw.
The video was unfortunately broken into pieces showing you owning opponents, so we could not really see how often you died, but obviously, with that gear and setup, you died alot.
You took a total of 26 Killshots in the video, with another 4 that you cancelled. Two of the killshots were evaded (again these were in the middle of your 3v3 sequences at the start, I have no idea how many were evaded that didn’t get shown). Your highest Killshot was indeed 24.4k against an upleveled light armour character, who was neither fighting nor using skills. Your weakest Killshot was 10.7K against a level 80 necro. Your mean average for all the shown killshots which were not aborted is 13.7K, most of those against upleveled opponents.
-snip-
I am also of the opinion that it seems rather counter productive for the devs to work so hard to make contents only for people to skip or miss them just because they couldnt keep up. I find that notion rather… foolish, if u dont mind me saying.
The devs don’t make content only for people to skip. Nonetheless, all content gets skipped, or do you believe that everybody is really doing everything in the game. The idea is to make enough content that everybody has something they will enjoy doing, and can skip the stuff they don’t enjoy.
I don’t mind you saying that the notion as you put it is foolish. It was, after all, your notion, and nowhere near what I wrote.
I’d use the whole billion to actually play the game from Mars
More content, faster! Make us actually have to choose which content we will see and which we will miss. Give us so much content that the dailies cease to be something that we concentrate on.
