CS builds dont have a higher skill cap – against a decent engi/ele, you simply won’t win. With CS, there are some things that just you can’t do. It’s like going against a necro with a condi engi… you just can’t.
With Panic Strike, the matchup against an Engi is not “that” impossible.
Sindrenerr plays Panic Strike and is one of the best thieves on EU.
Chozen Sin is another great thief (imho the best thief in EU) that streams occasionally, and plays Panic Strike as well.
An armor would be better, but as an outfit it would be easier and quicker to implement.
Still, I strongly believe this HAS to be added as a wearable skin, as it’s far too beautiful for being overlooked.
Can you please add this outfit in the Gemstore? I would gladly pay for it. It is one of the most outstanding outfit you can find in the game IMHO, and it’s sad that it has not been released yet.
Since a lot of things have been made available for purchase in the Gemstore after the community asked for them (Marjory haistyle, Belinda Greatsword and the likes), can you please add this item too?
The chat code for this item is this one: [&AgECWQAA] (do note that you NEED to be a FEMALE HUMAN character in order to preview it).
For those that are don’t know how it looks like, this is a preview of it on my character:
Lol this thread again.
Keep dreaming, yo. It never hurts.
Thief are a Hard counter to Shatter Mesmers because they have lots of evades that let them avoid the Shatters (especially with Shortbow). Plus, they are unparalleled at keeping up the pressure with the enemy. A GS+Staff Shatter Mesmer is pretty much defenseless after he used his Mind wrack and Diversion. The Knock back can help but it’s easily avoided if you keep moving in/out from their body. Chaos Storm is easily countered by using the Stolen Ability.
Also, the Poison on Steal pretty much negates their healing ability. So, if you land a Steal, it means that you will be doing:
-2k dmg from Mug
-1.5k dmg from Poison
-from 2k to 3k dmg because of the reduced healing from Poison.
That’s a lot of pressure.
If you camp Shortbow, there is no way the mesmer can kill you.
Tip: when 1v1ing a mesmer, put a Target Marker on him. It will be way easier to track his movements. Also, use the Shortbow Auto on the clones near the mesmer (and NOT on the mesmer himself), since they can’t dodge the attacks and the bouncing arrow will still hit the real mesmer.
why would it destroy the jewelry market? as far as I know the jar has one stat set only, and one that I personally don’t use. The other stats should still be sellable as usual.
With the jar available for 15s, it only costs 60s to forge a random exotic trinket, so all exotic trinkets that drop from the forge will be available for ~75s, which is well under crafting value.
Yeah but most of those trinkets have stats that are hardly needed…
I already had hundreds of ascended materials (Dragonite from WvW, Empy from dungeons), so these mats are just trash that get destroyed asap.
As for the rest, it’s definitely nothing game breaking. Some people think that the SilverWastes are a gold mine, but in truth the gold you get is exactly on par with what you get from the rest of the game.
Sure, it’s easy gold (people who don’t know how to do dungeons properly might find it more attractive), but it’s definitely nothing worth it (unless you need amber or ascended mats).
I don’t get it – I’ve spent 2 hours in this new area and I stood all the time defending a fort. I got around 100 bags, and after opening them I got loads of useless stuff. Maybe a few rares. No exotic, no t6 mats… Salvaged light Armor, vendored the rest. Made about 15g by selling everything on the tp.
I literally don’t understand what’s so good about this “farming”… By doing my daily dungeon runs (full AC+CoF 1-2) I get the same amount of gold in half the time.
Rune of Strength are another very good bet if you’re speccing into Shadow Arts.
You’ll be able to maintain 12 might Stacks easily, and the damage increase trait is very nice. Rock dog is strong, but only in 1v1,as it might give away your position in 1vX
Venom share is an incredibly fun trait to play in a group in WvW.
You need to click on the “cog” at the right of the text box in which you type the item name
If you swap weapons at the end of the HS animation, HS will result in faster movement speed than Infiltrator Arrow. Of course, this requires both Swiftness AND out of combat.
I usually slot in Daggerstorm when I’m soloing camps. Makes it a lot faster.
I destroy DP SA thieves in WvW daily using only a Sword. All SA traits are OK. They are a good training wheel for most thieves.
you forgot…is a stunbreak
It’s also an invuln for 10seconds if it lands (and 5seconds if it doesn’t land).
Sizer farms every thief on EU, the only reason Levin killed sizer its because he was sitting in stealth forever and waiting to get that spike off.
And those 2 thieves never dueled, it was just the D/P trying to gank sizer while he is in a team fight. Sizer would 100-0 Levin in a actual 1v1.
…as it’s expected by a S/D thief vs a D/P in 1v1.
Well actually D\P counters S\D in an 1v1 fair situation.
Sizer is a god with S\D
S\D can disengage much better and has better team fight presence and of course mobility
No, that’s exactly what SD excels in. DP counters SD only on a team fight because the DP can get a stealth engage if the SD us not aware. In a true 1v1, SD >>> DP.

What you don’t get is that it’s us, the players, who “decided” that this was a good farming spot.
If people were not willing to pay more than 1silver per ToT bag, no one would do this.
People abusing of ENDLESS mobs for linen is a totally different concept. Regardless of the value of Linen, people were killing endless waves of mobs respawning constantly. That was clearly not intended. Even if killing those mobs had been not profitable at all, it would still be considered an exploit.
Remember: it’s not the amount of people doing something that make that something an exploit.
This is actually really good for the economy of the game, as it’s an insane gold sink. You literally have no idea how much gold is disappearing from the game thanks to this farm.
The only way this is profitable, it’s because of the value the players give to Trick or Treat Bags.
There are a lot of other spots that enable you to “farm” critters. This one only appears to be the most effective; so I don’t think it’s an exploit at all.
Lolno
What’s your current critical chance and power?
Lol no, the only thief build that comes close to how easy engi is to play is PD dire Perplexity.
Lol Engi has a very low skill cap
Shatter Mesmers can kill it fast if the DD Ele doesn’t know what to dodge.
Condi Necro still takes a while to kill a DD Ele.
DP is cheese only if you play x66xx with full valk/cavalier gear, as Shadow Rejuvenation and Hidden Killer will carry you a lot.
Still, I’d fight a DP Shadow Arts every day over a PD Condi Perplexity – PD Condi are the only thieves I won’t think twice about stomping.
The EU GvG scene is quite ok at the moment. Sure, there are only a few guilds that are top notch, but still, the amount of “average” guilds who are starting to focus on GvGs is constantly rising.
I’ve been having sudden, yet recurrent, lag spikes for 5seconds only in the Angz 1v1 server. I can’t play, nor watch, anymore on that server

These are the most popular.
Sigil choice can vary (some use Blood instead of Fire for D/P builds. Some use Energy on SBow instead of Air).
Some traits may vary (for “standard” D/P, you can use either Practiced Tolerance or Side Strikes or Furious Retaliation; for S/D, Hard To Catch is used if you are scared of the enemy thief, otherwise you can go with Assassin’s Reward or Power of Inertia or Fleet of Foot)
Rune choice may vary (some use Ogre/Scholar runes for standard D/P; some use Strength for S/D – in which case I would suggest Power of Inertia as replacement for Hard To Catch).
Regardless of these minor differences, the playstyle is very similar. The choice you make in your spec will only determine if you are more “tanky” or more “bursty”.
Thief is not UP.
stop feeding these troll threads.
Bad troll is bad.

When I play P/P i find out i spend more time in Shortbow than on P/P. But P/P has a lot of nice utilities. However, I must admit that it’s a very weak set, most of the things I do with it are easily attainable with other sets.
I play 2 0 0 6 6 with Assassin Reward when I use PP anyway.
i have better idea for 6th bonus: when struck, daze foe for 2.5 sec… because nightmare runes are balanced apprently
If you want an “automatic” stun, get Runes of Air and cast Basilisk Venom. The moment you get hit, the Lighting Strike will hit your enemy and stun him because of Basilisk.
It’s the new “cheese” rune that some people use in 1v1s to guarantee BV to hit.
Don’t fight them. If the game “demands” you to beat any kind of engi (not zerker of course) on point, it means that you’re doing something wrong.
Thief is not a 1v1 profession, nor a “turn a 1v2 into a 2v2” profession. Thief is a “turn a 1v1 into a 2v1” profession, a decap profession and a “kill the enemy roamers and damage dealers” professions.
“I 1v3 at far and you can’t get mid”.
. .. Says the thief who got roflstomped after his team wiped 3v4 at mid.
Too any times these days…
Fun fact: if it had a 20s cd, you would still die to them, because you’re bad.
What would you ask to be nerfed then?
No way Caed build can beat any decent Condi thief. Your only hope is to oneshot them, which will not happen – especially in WvW with Dire Gear available. Their sustain is just too high, and their conditions will melt you in the long run.
Instead of 26006, you could try using 60206 if you still like high burst builds
I like the cleave on daggers a lot actually. Now I can cleave on a downed body being rezzed without having to swap to SB.
The “nerf” is only VERY situational. Also, you shouldn’t be fighting PU mesmers anyway, just laugh at them and leave: it’s not your fault if they can’t play.
Speaking of mesmers, the cleave is really good against shatters. Now if they use Decoy, they will still get hit (before, the clone bodyblocked the damage). And there are much more situations that make the dagger cleave a buff.
I really liked this change ^^
I will also add do you guys believe med guard is a really optimal choice for high level tpvp? because a condition thief can beat med guard.
A Condi thief has a hard time against a mediguard, because mediguard have lots of cleanses and in pvp you can’t use dire gear.
Also, mediguard is far more viable for pvp than a Condi thief.I love how one condi cleanse every 16s and a full clear every 48s is considered alot, and if this is that one 2/1/6/1/4 build mind you you only get 1 damage amplifier(10%) and your health is very low, 12k in wvw 14k in Spvp with Zerker ammy. Teamfights in Spvp mediguards will often get very pressured by AoE flying around the point. They fall off in that type of environment, especially when focused down.
Guards can be outlasted by a condi theif, it’s not ideal to be a condi thief though in Spvp because they can’t hold points and they normally give up some mobility if they don’t go shortbow secondary set.
They got 2 damage amplifier traits (when enemy is burning and when you have Aegis), plus, you have smite condition (1 every 16), focus #4 (which can cleanse up to 2 conditions) on a really low cd, f3 that cleanses 3, which can be used twice, and CoP. They have both defenses for small applications and big spikes. I really dont struggle much against condi enemies when i (rarely)play my mediguard

You beat THEM by out rotating them, which is the point of the whole conquest game.
I think Karsaib is the best S/x Ele out there, and the only way I found to beat him reliably is with a DP set by hoping to fully land my first burst, which had to Crit (steal, bs from the back, 1-2 autos to proc sigils). This will do 90% of his hp. Then I have to Shadowstep away and stealth while LoS ing him.
SP with devourer Venom Is another way, as you can port to him after he dodges the initial PW strike while casting Devourer Venom, which will immobilize him and deal a good 60/70% of his hp.
If you’re playing a sustain spec (acro+trickery) I never won unless he messed up. Which can happen, mind me, but assuming perfect play vs perfect play, the only way to kill him is with a high burst spec, by Killing him Before he kills you.
Also, air attunement, air sigil proc, lightning bolt, lightning flash and arcane blast can all be cast instantly from point blank range and the whole Combo will do a good 10-12k hp of damage to you.
Cynz, I don’t get your issue.
Are you talking about a Thief vs Mediguard in tpvp? If yes, just avoid it. Mediguard is hard countered by loads of spec in tpvp, the only thing he can do is hold a point in a 1v1 against a thief. He has less mobility than you and his burst his on a really high Cd. He is useless for killing weakened enemies and still takes a while to kill bunkers – it’s just another of those classes that lacks an identity in tpvp. You see a mediguard on the enemy team? Avoid it, and go kill him when he is low and can’t retaliate. They are useless in team fights and will go down like flies if focused. Once they’ve used their block and invuln, you have free Steal+burst on them to finish them off.
Now, if, on the other hand, you were talking about mere 1v1 fights between a thief and a Guardian, I’ll tell you this again: you can kill 99% of the medi guardians by just staying in Shortbow, not missing your steal, and playing mind tricks to ensure you land the stolen ability.
The thing I like the most is dropping sb4 on their feet when they’re using Shelter. Then it’s just a matter of dodging focus5, focus4, Gs5 (might be hard, use Shadow step).
If they’re running sword it’s even easier. With scepter is harder because you need to strafe to minimise the damage you take from autos, but with fire+air sigils you will do overall more damage to them with sb.
Drazeh should definitely be nerfed. That guy is op
Those traits are OK. pain Response and Vigorous Recovery are a must. The last trait is usually power of Inertia, but I personally prefer Assassin Reward (I use the same build but I play with only one weapon).
For the Runes, I love Pack Runes. Some go for Hoelbrak or Strength. Ogre, Air and Eagle Runes also work.
You can get Berserker Exotic Gear from the WvW vendor by paying only one gold and a few hundred WvW badges, or you can buy it with Dungeon Tokens. Don’t use Dire because it’s useless, go full zerk (you can also opt for some Assassin’s pieces should they be of easier access to you)
Use steal when to interrupt the HS through the Black Powder to deny him stealth. Use the stolen skill to get into stealth, cast Basilisk Venom and interrupt his HS again a bit later.
Then just use Sw2 to immob and burst. When they have already used their heal, cast refuge, immob them with sb and drop 2-3 cluster Bombs. They should be dead.
