Hi all, I just started being a staff ele about a few weeks ago and im having some trouble as when i comes to casting with staff. I love using staff as an elementalist, my favorite weapon so far even though it gets hard counter by a few class, but something about it is just weird.

When im casting at times, it would just stop and go on cooldown. This happens a lot and its kind of starting to bug me in PvP. Not the full cooldown, but a short one. Sometimes when im even mashing a skill it wont cast. Im not being dazed btw. I am surely positive that im not being dazed everytime it happens.

Anyone used to have this issue and found a way to fix it or geting around it?

Some classes dont even get 5 new skills, just 2 or 3 -.-

If they ever do add more pets, i hope it isnt just reskins with a bunch of crappy abilities :/.

Give us some pets that we can actually bound our skills with. Like a phoenix that would create a circle of flame (Fire Field).

WoW did it right, a few other games as well. One of the best professions in the game imo cause it felt unique.

Would love to have a druid that revolved around shapeshifting. Ditch the pet and turn our F1-f4 into shape shifts. This game lacks pet synergy already so having it on a druid would be really pointless :/ .

We don’t even know wether Masteries will grant achievements at this point.

Meant it as in a sense of achievement.

Maybe that wasnt the best word though.

Why would they nerf fire? In order to be grabbing that high number of damage your possibly sacrificing a ton of survivability. Just wish we had more finishers then earth and 2 arcane skills and wouldnt hinder so much of what a staff ele can do.

My thought, Nerf the range down to 600 or less, dont change damage.

I just kind of accepted the fact that this class is a lost cause. To many issues with the pet mechanics and me having to risk my life just to get it to work.

If im a longbow ranger and i set myself in a sniper spot so I could support my team from safe spot, a lot of the time my pet isnt even able to attack the target because they get stuck at the edge of my spot. Even if I use sic em or Gaurd, the skill is used but they stand still. Bad Pathing.
Ontop of that a lot of pet skills are pure garbage. Long cooldown skills with such bad effects :/.

Pretty much just given up and went to a diff game. Theres really no pet synergy here at all and i cant realy have a bond with my pet. it just seems to unloyal.

I want pet synergy and for them to be some then just extra damage and cannonfodder. WoW has a really superb ranger/hunter class. Different names but same thing overall.

Hunters were capable of high damage without pets and had best range weapon dmf in game like its supposed to be. Pets felt more than added dps. They had there on stats and tons of skills. It wasnt even hard to micromanage pets in wow. Not saying make it exactly the same but hell. WoW has a good model for a hunter.

Easy solution to that, change the conjures into elemental embues on 15 charges.

Fire=Burning
Water=Chilling
Wind=Chance to stun
Earth=Bleeding

Rooster Teeth is known for being able to make weapons work in new ways.

In Rwby Weiss(White) – uses a magical sword that has elemental effects. :o

@Daze, with pets not having to actually have to target something for there f2 skill to be used seems like it could be a alternative fix imo. When i f2 on my jaguar it immediately goes into prowl (Stealth) mode.

…But i understand what everyone means about the pigs lol. I had to literally spam it a few times for the pig to actually stop running and start foraging. Guess them not having to target something wouldnt really fix this issue then ._.

-More gadgets, pretty much the only reason i really still like this class. Give us some goofy and creative ones. Some things that will push our mines to think how could these be used in combat.

-Also the ability to build some golems. Were engineers, idk why we couldnt of been able to do this form the start. Imo, mobiles golems with some elemental atks depending on color is way better then stationary turrets.

-Instead of not having a weapon change slot, give us a mode change slot. One that would attach a scope onto our rifles that would give us some long range killer skills like what the warriors have but make it so ours have a more engineer feel to it.
-For pistols make it so that change to dual fire when there is to on. I dont see why we only fire from one gun when we could be firing from both. Make it a bit innacurate like poison volley if u need to to actually make it balanced.

They should give the pets more variety imo. Skillwise. Not every pet needs to be a damage dealing pet, we could have pets for specific things ontop of that like support boons and extra utility.

Say for instance, if our drake isny targeting a thing and is on gaurd duty sticking with the ranger. He could light the ground with its elemental ability and give off a combo field that would let the ranger shoot elemental arrows and also give the team some extra support.

Also there could be pets just to give off a few boons for the team with its skills. If there was a evolution system i would stick the boon pets to being moas like we have now. As they level up they start to go down the road of what kind of pet they would become skill-wise and start to get there own personal identity. (Apperance and skills).

Basically, make pets more valuable then just being extra damage and skins. Give them there own personal roles that do more then just give the opponent minor damage or a small weak condition.

Greatsword alone can cover the mobility section as well as the +25 trait for movement speed.

Hammer can literally stun lock a target(s) on a very short amount of cool down i might add. Sure we can bring stun breakers that have 4x longer cooldowns then the stuns themselves. Yeah thats fair.

Rifles can one shot. Idk why this is even a thing in this game by a class that has a good amount of defense. Am i reliving my WoW Days or something? Compare rifle and longbow skills to that of a ranger and its complete bs. Why would a warrior need better range damage and atks then something that is focused on ranged combat.

I should also add that the gap closers this class has alone that can be used for multiple situations is a bit to far. Hell even ranger only has 2 at most and they are bugged and awkward to use.

When a rifle warrior is busting up to 10ks with barrage and 2ks per shot up close and my ranger can barely pull off 500s up close and not even 2ks with crits at farthest range? Zerk ranger might i add specced into long bow.

I dont roll warrior anymore.

Swoop gets bugged, has to untarget a enemy before used if they even wanna get away, and its range is only 1,100 to a Warriors 1200 rush. :/

Longbow is a crippling confusion upon itself.

U say that but have u ever done Whirl+ Rush? A lot of times Swoop glitches especially when u go over a hill, u stop when u land, wait 2 seconds or so and then u finish it. Not being even able to move in the middle.

Yes i have a ranger, my main lvl 80. I know something about the class. Not an expert but eh. I srsly dont understand the logic behind how they even did our Weapon sets. Especially for a long bow ranger, not a single immobolize, but warrior has 1 and it last for 3-4 seconds?

Ranger, only way i see that possible is if i used Sword / Great Sword. But that would be crippling myself due to no range to actually have a safe way to engage in fights. Then again, With all the leaps these melee classes have, i guess me trying to keep myself out of range is a bit pointless even considering the amount of stability Soldiers have access to.

A lot of classes have been broken/crippled/ useless for months. Do they not deserve a few buffs? People care and little to nothing happens. Warriors have been in need for some fine tuning to a lot of what they can truly do, especially on low skill ceiling builds. Why should a Class that requires less skill to play be able to dish out more positive effects then something that does?

People dont care if thieves stealth all the time?

See if the devs truly felt that way about this sort of stuff then we would be in a better place….Maybe. Elementalist took a heavy damage drop and a chara hit cap. This pretty much crippled the classes effectiveness by a huge margin. As a light wearing spec, it shud be dealing tons of damage rapidly and with wild ways. Not being put in a corner for doing what they were designed for.

No, maybe tone down on its mobility yes. But dont hit other classes just because a warrior is overbuffed and is being made to be averaged out. When thinking of a warrior, i for one, dont see it as something that should have one of the best mobilities in the game ontop of some heavy CC and high burst, Barely anyone can escape that unless they use the terrain to there advantage. That should be a Scholars job.

Necros can be bursted out of death shroud and they lack any defensive skills in death shroud. Besides it was already nerfed with the full fall damage.

Thieves on the other hand. I can say a yes to a stealthing nerf, not one that truly makes stealthing worthless, but something that will tone down on how it can be abused.. They have so many ways to stack it up and can do it at almost anytime. It should be a bit more tactical to how they play the class.

Stand and fight, So if i needed to run i would have a chance without getting CC bursted to death.

Sadly its already like this even in SPvP, Me being a ranger at range above +1200 against a CC burst warrior who has decent toughness and rejuvination. He pretty much heals for 70-90% of what one of my arrows would do to them. Me being a full power build as well. Didnt even need the shouts, i think he was dependant on his signet.

Sadly my pet couldnt get in on the wailing as he was dealt with by pathing issues.

Warriors being allowed to flee, what in the kittening world. Was this game made backwards or something?

-Warriors having high Range dps with rifle.
-High Mobility.
-High Hp Pool.
-Great variety of weapons.
-CC Stun locking on short cooldowns.
-Can deal most damage in the game with a single skill.
-Can get a large amount of invulnerability.
-A large access to stability.

But Scholar classes that have light armor have to be dedicated to a fight no matter the range? (Necros, Eles, Not sure about mesmers)

Sure Eles can do a teleport and a ride the lightning but those cooldowns are ridiculous.

If there was stuff this unique about the game and classes i wouldnt be quitting every few months due to imbalancing and nerfs. Stuff unique in a game would make me over look a lot of the crap that goes on and give me a new focus. Id also feel like my pet mattered in more ways then extra damage, like a true bond with it because i raised it like my own.

I dont wanna be the person to do this but similar to WoWs system. You find ur pet, tame it, it starts off small with no skills but maybe 1. Then as you level it up it gets bigger and learns more skills. Basic and should be a easy thing to do imo. Id rather get 1 pet archtype (feline) that can go down many paths and change its visuals while leveling it.

Lets see… Warriors have Great escapes, Long time invulnerablilities, A way to stack might quickly (ive seen a 20 might stacked warrior in pvp ._.), Great defense, High hp pool, High mobility, low cds.

Wtf do they need more buffs? Srsly now i need to know, how or why do the devs think that warriors need no tweaking at all. Especially since with all the stun locking they can do you would need to bring stun breakers for how many times u can get stunned and immobolized. Then even the stuns are on a short cd. Not even a condition remover can help -looking at elementalist heal-.

The thing i love about rangers is simply the weapon choices and the pets no matter how useless they are at times. but yes those weapon effects are also awesome Wish we could dress up our pets tho and when we give them a name it was actually for that pet and not for the pet slot.

Like our pets juss feel like added damage and not true companions ._. Actually making each pet seem like its own special archtype, we need someone true ranger devs to get this clas where it needs to be.

Im not doing 3-5ks with great sword tho, that should be our most damaging weapon. ._. Melee damage is lacking and the Longbow for ranger, if im not critting with a power build on rapid fire, my damage is completely weak.

I like that idea, something similar to WoW Hunters when they can link with there pets without that dieing mechanic. Id rather not die if my pet gets stomped due to them already dieing fast if there not a bear or devourer. Then them having down skills is another thing.

Also, i would like to approve of more of a link with our pets in any case, damage, support and stuff. Especially with field combos and such. Pets with elemental nature should all be able to drop a combo field juss for that added support, id like that over alot of there f2 abilities which some seem to be useless or juss copies of another pet.

Anyone else believe that till our pet AI is fixed and doesnt include a lot of standing around and missing, that Anet should just simply switch the damage percentiles around? Us doing more dmg then our pet and them just being that bit of extra rare damage per hit?

Which build should i use..

Minion Mancer Silphon build in Dolyak gear. You are always going to be healed with doing a good amount of dps and having a good amount of utility with ur pets. Blinds, Knockdowns, immobolizes and cripples. Its pretty much a Toughness + vitality build with the added attribute of being healed every few seconds.

For mines i went 25 into Death magic, 30 into Blood magic and 15 into soul reaping for the full tankiness benefits. U could also ditch the 5 points in Soul reaping that gives spectral armor for the 30 into death magic for the minion condition removal but that might cause problems if ur using feast conditions instead of Blood fiend.

Weapons i use for this are Dagger/Warhorn, for immobilizing so my pets can keep up and wale the living hell out of the target and the warhorn is pretty much for heal distrupting and crippling so its hard for people to escape. my 2ndary is staff for the mark of blood which gives regen to my minions.

Traits:
Death Magic: V, X
Blood: II, VII, XI
Soul Reaping: II

My experience with this is, i was able to go afk for about 10 seconds as a thief was stabbing me, came back to notice my health was full and he was halfway dead lol.
