and your right i guess it op for regen builds… but for zerker builds i think its fine…

right now ranger is kinda boring with the bunker-ish meta

ever since the longbow implemented stealth, and the remorseless trait remake, ive been wondering if anet plans to give us more stealth.

i really want a utility stealth skill that allows us to disengage or ambush…
maybe a survival skill -“camoflauge” or something, where you and your pet gains stealth for 10 sec if you are out of combat, or gains stealth for 3 sec if you are already in combat.

dont think that would be too OP or anything.. but definately would give us the ability to get in position for an attack or gtfo if it goes badly. (2 stealth skills isnt asking for too much is it? considering we have a trait thats supposed to complement stealth)

what do you guys think?

Just want to put it out there that technobabble and pain inverter are probably the 2 best racial skills out there and they both belong to the same race.

I feel this gives asura an unfair advantage. This becomes evident when there’s entire builds centered around these two skills … what’s your thoughts?

The more I play the build the better I become at timing my interrupts the easier I time I have at taking enemies down.

Even if I miss an interrupt with Technobabble, that ability is so bloody powerful that even without confusion going off it can win fights.

5 Second Daze is just scary long in PvP, I ended up fighting quite a few people today and it was just a slaughter left and right, Even classes that sometimes give me trouble (Skull Crack Warrior for example) I ate pretty easily, I fought some more Elementalist who I felt really bad for, standard D/D setup that most seem to run, Everytime he’d go to cast he’d eat an interrupt and get 5 stacks of Confusion, Which means he can continue to attack an take damage or switch to Water and get rid of it….Which means he was basically constantly on the defense against the Setup.

Perplexity Runes honestly do need an ICD on that 6 ability, I actually feel a bit OPed with it.

i feel like the rune is fine if technobabble got nerfed… without that, rangers only have access to 2 interrupts, and 2 second dazes which is fine

II agree there is too much gap closers

I think if we have a trait that allows us to back pedal faster, it would help with the range concept

we could also have a trait that allows us to Knockback foes when they attack us in melee (on a 60 second cooldown)

I find it happens when i do an awkward side step plus back pedaling motion without fully facing my target

Perhaps they are thinking of implementing new weapons into the game in the next few patches…. so perhaps some traits will make sense with the newly released skillsets

im hoping they implement a crossbow weapon with stalking, and tracking skills ^^
or a javilen with a immob throw :P

How come longbow is so clunky?

when im back peddling and shooting sometimes my skills enter into 3 second interupt cooldown time for no reason. (hunters shot/ point blank usually are the two)

this usually happens when i try to shoot something really close to me…

anyone have any thoughts on this?

Or guard makes both ranger and pet invisible in a small area (sorta like shadow refuge) making first attack from stealth hit 150% more. Could b an ambush skill or an escape skill

Although, i’d agree that stealth could easily be extended up to 5 seconds without it causing imbalance. at best we can stealth every 10.5 seconds (considering skill cast, actual arrow flight and cooldown) as is, so a 2 second extention would not change much.

IMO the beauty of the new Stealth buff doesn’t have anything to do with actually being stealthed. I also play a Thief and a Mesmer, and 3 seconds of stealth is nothing. That barely covers the time needed for the animations. No, for us Rangers, the beauty is in the synergy with the MM line and Precise Strikes (25pts) and Remorseless (30pts). Remorseless has now been changed to grant Opening Strike when stealthed, and with Precise Strikes granting 100% crit chance on for Opening Strike, THIS is where the power in the new stealth pays off. It’s basically an on-demand 100% crit chance for the Ranger. Use it wisely…..

Now back to the OP’s topic of blast finishers – WOOT! Now you too can AOE heal by throwing down Healing Spring and tooting on your horn, or buff friends up with Bonfire and a honk! Everyone will LOVE Rangers now, and invite us to all the cool kid parties! OK, maybe not, but at least we’re a little more helpful to a group.

My understanding is that the trait is currently bugged, so it applies opening strike but no crit…

I’m more worried about whether or not we’re going to get shafted because the whole our skills scale like kitten (compared to other profs) and our pet gets NO bonus for our gear.

Every single powercreep update in Gear … consumables .. and … just about everything else… continually makes our pets and thus US —> WORSE b/c those pets do NOT receive those buffs/enhancements like they really should. (in PvE … NOT in sPvP where you can’t even use any of that crap in the first place)

I wonder if they have the tech to make your pets stats increase the more Ascended Gear you’re wearing. IE If you have a 0 Ascended Gear your pets are as strong as now, but if you have say a full set they’ll get a boost to bring them up to par.

I think thats kinda wishful thinking… at current they dont even have the technology to make our arrows not miss when people side strafe…. (feels like ANET is going for gimmicky stuff without addressing core concerns as always)

With the announcement on the new ascended armor and weapons coming out, I feel like a load of new balance problems are going to emerge. As it is, Anet doesnt have the resources to fix existing bugs given thier small balance team, let alone balance for the incoming ascended gear…

With new gear stats, all skills and traits will need to be revised

And since dmg coeffiecients are so different for all classes. (IE warriors and thief are notorious for high dmg coefficeints and rangers have low ones (bc of the pet)) I expect to see a lot of problems.

I’m not qqing already, just wondering what thoughts you guys have on this issue?

Spirits apparently dont work underwater when u summon them on land…

as soon as u dip into water u lose all ur spirits

I find thief to be the hardest class to master, but also the hardest to fight agaisnt…
Near perma stealth, with high burst, and grp utility via spammable blast finishers on shortbow make them both a great in small and large skirmishes…

TBH i dont think its that the thief is op or anything… its just that, a lot of classes dont have ways to deal with stealth reliabily… For example, a ranger pet whcih accounts for 40% of thier dmg is lost whenever a thief stealths.

Overall, I believe it is a design flaw. (thief is not OP, stealth is badly designed)

It would be cool if anet could introduce more weapon choices from non token based aquisitions…. Alot of hardcore gamers dislike that everyone can get the same item as them, and a lot of casual players find it hard to get enough currency (ie laurels, tokens etc…) to get anything decent.

Some suggestions is to create

set items (red color text) with special animations when used together
Boss items (a different color text) with lore behind it and a specific monster who drops it

Note, there are no stat bonuses so it wont affect the balance
u can make it so that an armor set must be acquired from running the various paths of explorable modes and story modes (so u can attract ppl to run other paths other than the easiest).
An example i can think of is a tree armor set and weapon that glows with fireflys floating around at night (the glow will grow in intensity depending on how many pieces u are wearing) and each piece will come a specific boss.

this could be implemented into the open world too in the form of notable champions and world bosses

what do u think guys?

Just wanted to point out that even with the projectile speed increased by 15% u can still side step out of range… just missed 6 arrows cuz my opponent moved from side to side while running … also my projectiles gets blocked when either my pet or allies get in the LOS… im pretty sure that is a bug and it is really annoying…

The minor traits for ranger marksmanship line is very lack luster…. They all build on the first shot … When a guardian blocks it with aegis we just hav 3 useless traits… Does anet have plans to revamp those traits

i agree with jeroen’s comment…. i also find stealth spamming to be the problem … Instead of “reveal” debuff they should implement WVW tracking ability, so only the player who is tracking can see invisible units for a period of time (this would allow thief to keep thier backstab mechanics and 50% speed trait etc… while targeting stealth spammers)

Forzani kinda hit it right on…
To add to that, stealth was not a problem when it required cnd to proc (since u can use reflexes and skills to dodge it)… but with the prevalance of d/p thief builds, they are now guarenteed a stealth regardless of location via skill 5 blinding powder and 2 heartseeker leap finisher…
Other classes like eles and warriors can burst them down or use AOE for the short duration they are visible, but rangers have pew pew arrows that the thief can regen back when they are in stealth… (also pets seem to be wondering around chasing more than hitting, which means we lose another chunk of our damage)

Ranger should have a new pet with f2 ability that detect invisible units such as stealthed players, traps, invis jaguar etc… (a cave bat for example). The animation would be a wave that emits outwards in a circular fashion similar to the skill 1 in guild rushes.

I think this would add value to rangers in a group enviornment by allowing them to detect wvw traps.. of course this is situational but i rather have this options, than not… our pets are what makes it unique for us, and as of now, pets do more harm than good triggering random traps and making thieves able to cnd off of them…

what do you guys think?

I want a track skill for the next patch… as an elite skill for rangers… adds 10 stacks of vulnerbility and allows the ranger to track target 30 seconds (This does not trigger the debuff reveal, so thieves will still be able to remain invis to the rest of the people who are not tracking, and are able to use thier stealth skills such as backstab as well as benifit from thier 50% move speed from traits etc… )

I think with this, rangers may have a chance against thieves in 1 v 1

thx for advice! ill give that a go… but the only thing is LB is so hard to use well… cuz a thief can just steal behind u and it stops working… the 1 skill hits very little too and takes a long time to cast

I think rangers are in a good place but still needs some skills to deal with stealth… we have little AOE and not enough burst to deal with constant stealth… and entangle can even be blinked out of, which sucks…

I find it impossbile to kill a well played d/p thief.
smoke field leap finishers (which can be done with 5 skill followed by heartseeker with no cd) pretty much offer infinite invisibility (over exagerated, but 3 or 4 more). Traited properly for initiative they can enter and exit combat whenever they want…
I find it unfair that this stealth build is the only defensive mechanic in the game that does not require any trade offs… A thief can technically be built 100% serker, deal a ton of dmg and so long as they are not stupid to walk into a swinging sword they can outplay any class…

there should be a way to track a stealthed person… or at the very least let our entangle not be able to be blinked out of so we can at least hold them for a few seconds….

can anyone share thier thoughts on how a ranger can play against an invis thief…
