That’s… that’s what she said?
I’m sorry ._.
Why is everyone fighting?! Stop fighting everyone ;_;
I think the easiest thing to do is, if you’re stomped, you’re shown the map and told to warp back to a waypoint. The minute you’ve been stomped (or defeated) a count down pops up that gives you time to be revived or warp to a waypoint of your choice. If time expires you go back to your original waypoint (the one you’re near when you come into that borderland).
There are probably flaws in what I just suggested, but it’s something that popped into my head when I was reading this thread.
Two things about us at HOD… First there was a long period of time where there was no tag in our BL from what I heard, so it was people Map Chatting telling where we were getting hit. Secondly, as I logged off I heard over TS “They are on our keep, get to the keep!!” and I thought we were gone, as that is all we had left. Logged in this morning and we caught up to you guys. What happened, did you go to sleep on us?
Yes we did sleep on you.
Um… hot?
I never fully grasped HoD’s zerg numbers until now. Good lord, I have yet to run into a HoD zerg that wasn’t around 50 people. I don’t know how long we can hold out against those numbers.
I’ve always liked screaming, “For the Yak!”, when I charge into battle with a group. That’s just me, I don’t think people like it =(
I really hope HoD is everything people say they are.
I actually hope they can pull off a win against us.
I doubt it, but here’s to hoping!!
I am not sure HoD can beat SBI, IoJ or YB much less FA. We do have a very strong population though and will fair well against any server without solid 24 hour coverage. Can we beat the hardened large skill groups… I am very interested in finding out.
We do know this much, HoD is probably a lock for at least 5th place. Where it settles between 1st and 5th is anyone’s guess at this point.
A lot of us on YB are predominantly PvE players (including myself) so I don’t think you have to worry too much about us. Talk on chat about next match up always ends with “it’s going to be very hard for us”, so we already know where we fall in the hierarchy of WvW servers.
For the Yak, everyone. For the Yak.
w1: FA 3, YB 3, HoD 3 | SBI 2, BP 2, NSP 2 | IoJ 1, SoR 1, CD 1
w2: FA 6, SBI 5, HoD 5 | YB 4, BP 4, IoJ 4 | NSP 3, CD 3, SoR 2
w3: FA 9, HoD 7, IoJ 7 | SBI 6, YB 6, NSP 6 | BP 5, CD 5, SoR 3
w4: FA 12, HoD 9, SBI 9 | IoJ 8, BP 8, YB 7 | NSP 7, CD 7, SoR 4
w5: FA 15, HoD 11, IoJ 11 | SBI 10, YB 10, NSP 10 | BP 9, CD 9, SoR 5I think I did that right??? assuming no upsets and assuming HoD is not a disaster waiting to happen.
Is the answer 7? I think the answer is 7. It’s 7, right? Did I get it right, I’m not good at math. 8.
When I saw that conversation I said to myself, “You’re probably going to die or be in grave danger. That’ll get the group to go there and, possibly face Mordremoth’s minions.”

Interesting idea. You are offering an idea that would work within the confines of the established game with minimal effort on Anets part. The should make more drastic changes but this idea is way better than what currently exists in-game.
I also wonder what is up with the Warriors Battle Standard banner (“Place a battle standard that revives fallen allies and grants fury, might, and swiftness to allies.”)? Does it ever get equipped? does it get used? Does it even work? On the bottom of their Wiki page it states it only works for the downed state, which I see as a bad choice, but I never seem to noticed any wide spread use of it.
I totally use Battle Standard on my warrior, but I only use it when there are at least 4 downed people near each other. If I see only 1 or 2 people that are downed, or if there are 4 to 5 downed but are too spread out, I’ll get them back up on my own. I do it that way mainly because of the cool down on the skill. In my experience, whenever I do use Battle Standard on 1 or 2 downed players, 5 more are downed before the cool down is over.
I don’t have one yet mainly because I’m too lazy to get one.

I got loot twice during the first day but then after the patch I’ve been getting no loot. Now I kind of just go to LA to help people fight the champs, I rarely even bother with the knights anymore.
Looking at that “butterfly” it looks almost like a Largos which would hint underwater. But we’ll find out more on 18 March I think with the finale event or whatever it is.
They say people will see what they want to see, no matter what you show them.
On a seperate note, Orr will now be totally forgotten.
In all honesty I didn’t even notice the butterfly. Watching that video was the second time I’d seen it and it is much clearer the second time that it’s in the jungle. Weird coloring, but still jungle.
Yeah, I never noticed the butterfly the first time I saw the cutscene, but I went and did the fight again to get the Nowhere to hide achievement and noticed it the second time. I think the fireflies or shiny particles made it look like it was underwater.

I don’t remember everything I got from the chest, but I believe I got some scrolls of knowledge and an unlimited guild finisher.
You mean a pop up on screen or in chat? If on the screen then I can totally get behind that. My guild apparently changed mumble servers when I was away for a few days and I didn’t realize it until I saw the new port number in the message of the day. If stuff like that would pop up on the screen the minute you log on then that would be extremely useful/helpful.
I have a naga for a year and it still works ( I even dropped it a a couple of times :/)
I’d suggest the Special one hand gaming-keyboard and the logitech g6000 or the Naga
I had a Naga, and then the mouse wheel wouldn’t scroll anymore. I miss using all those buttons ;_;
Pressure? From ESO? ESO is not a threat.
Yep, but most MMOs will lose some players to ESO for the first month because there are players that will go try the new hot MMO that was just released. They’ll do the whole “blaze through the content in record time before the first free month is done” and then return to whatever game they came from.
What about Final Fantasy XIV? I bought it, but haven’t played it yet. I might try it, if there would be a break in LS updates.
FF14 is okay, but it lacks enough PvE content when I played it at release. They have enough content to get one class up to the level cap (or at least close to it) but once you want to level anything else up you’ll have to grind.
They do cool things with the classes since your one character can be all the classes, and then you can get an advanced class by leveling two specific classes to certain levels. But if you want to get other classes up to the cap you’d have to do the equivalent of a Queensdale champ train which isn’t fun at all.

I saw someone AFKing at the top of the TP where a rubble pile was, the character was running in to wall. All I did was /wave and then /dance near him/her and then went on my way. I understand why people are angry on both sides of this argument, but for me, life’s too short to get angry at people, especially people I don’t know.

Forget all of that, I want this armor for my Ranger!
(Image from this page: http://gw2.kongzhong.com/act/tiro/index.html)
I remember that piece of artwork, it was in the artbook I got with the game.
Also, I wonder if this will stop a majority of the gold sellers that have been sporadically appearing during the Escape from Lion’s Arch event.

I stay away from the zerg fights. The only ones I’m ever in are when you’re fighting to get in to Lion’s Arch so I guess around 10-12 fps.

I found that I hate fighting in zergs, not because I think it’s lame, it’s because the frame rate hurts my eyes. Now I go off on my own or in a small group to save citizens.
Are you saying you don’t enjoy fist grunting the citizens to safety?
Here’s a picture of my Warrior, Gust Root.

Running a zerg in L.A. upscales events so far that rewards become minimized. Enemies hit too hard and die too fast, becoming a rampant waste of time.
I tend to get about 25% more loot when running with small groups, with the added advantage of leaving without a single piece of damaged armor. And rescuing more citizens on top of that? Heck, yes. When I see a zerg, I run the other direction.
That’s what I usually do. I come in from Gendarran and I immediately warp to Postern Ward and do my rounds there. I normally run solo, looking for citizens in the ogre cave, by the waterfall area and to the west of the waypoint down in the water which seems to hold a good number of civilians to rescue.
While doing that I’ll participate in an event or two, like escorting the ogres, defending the guards there and escorting the moas, but mainly my time is spent rescuing and being dumb in the chat. The reason I run solo is I know where I usually go, I just don’t do it in order and am pretty random about where I start. When I’m with another player I worry if I’m just randomly leading them around like a jerk.
The devs have now starting kicking and banning these afkers now so hopefully having a 72 hour timeout (should be longer IMHO) will teach them a lesson.
Source?
i saw an A-net guy running around the WP at the exit and AFK people started disappearing lol.
That sounds pretty hilarious. I’ve seen an ANet employee running around Gendarran, but I’ve never seen one in the event. Though, I did see chat erupt with, “Hi Kyle!” during the first day or second day, so maybe that was one.
They do have their uses. If you see random lasers shooting an area it’s either:
A) Targeting players
B) Targeting fleeing/saved citizens
Or C) Targeting citizens that need saving
I always look for the lasers because more than likely that’s where I’ll find citizens that need saving.
An angry Quaggan that has had enough. His kind have been kicked around for too long so he and his army of P-ed off Quaggans begin killing Krait and Inquest Asura. Soon, people will be all, “You guys are going too far. Let’s just drive them off from your waters.”
Then he, or she, will be all, “Quaggans’ will have our revenge and anyone who gets in Quaggans’ way will die.” There would be a ton of adorable enemies to fight, like Quaggans riding on subjugated Krait, sharks and a water chariot pulled by jelly fish.
But I guess a lot of the battles would take place underwater…
(edited by insaneshadow.1654)
Just going to add my dissapointment:
Your Asura doesn’t look pleased at all. It looks kind of dumbfounded actually lol
When they introduce precursor crafting I expect the recipe to involve and large amount of Tier 7 materials as well as some, maybe new, items that you need a good amount of but will be time gated.
I’d like them to be bankable in your collections tab. I have enough to create 3 more ascended versions for my alts but I’m going to hold on the extras just in case you need them for something else, because you never know.
I was kind of in that position; I hated crafting, barely did it in other MMOs, barely did it for this game. I got a few professions to 400 just so I can have a way to craft gifts for the legendary I’m too lazy to try and get but didn’t want to sink the gold into getting them to 500.
Then I saw the ascended blade backpiece and it pushed me over the edge. I got my armorsmith to 500 and crafted my ascended backpiece, then I got my weaponsmith to 500 with the intention to craft some ascended weapons. I only regret not doing it sooner since I’m running a little low on ascended materials.
I have enough to make the ascended axe I want, but I kind of want to see what I need for the colored version of the backpieces before I spend more materials to make an ascended weapon and more backpieces.

In my experience, if you kill an enemy you should get credit; if you don’t see XP pop up on your screen then you more than likely didn’t kill anything. I run the event on my regen warrior so I’m not doing crazy amounts of damage, just adequate damage, but my shouts really help with that event (heals and removes conditions so the ogres can always keep moving at a steady pace).
I notice people will run past downed Toxic Alliance Sylvari without finishing them off, so I always try to do that for them so they can get credit. Another thing you can do is drop AOE or just tag as many things as you can so when someone else kills them you’ll get the XP as well as the credit for the event.
I’m glad to say that I reached all of my original goals. Got my backpiece, got my armorsmith to 500 and ascended my backpiece, saw all the ways LA is messed up, saw the Tengu destroy anyone that gets too close to the wall (not me thankfully) and got enough blade shards to make 3 more ascended versions (didn’t do that yet) for my alts I want to give them too.
However, I have one more goal. After seeing I had 179 found heirlooms I decided to try for the Selfless Potion (or whatever the halo one is called). So far I’m at 229, or close enough to that number.

Watchwork sprockets and obsidian shards, that’s pretty much what I’m spending it on. Now, if only I had another use for the blade shards because I already made 3 of those back pieces for my character and 2 alts; I don’t need anymore spinal back pieces.

After the patch the overflows I’ve been apart of have gotten close (1000) so hopefully I can experience the 1200 citizen rescued goody bag.
Those thugs drop their version of Battle Standard; I’ve been hit pretty hard by level 84 Elite Thugs’ Battle Standards. A lot of times you’ll see dead players near or directly under those battle standards, or maybe they didn’t see his wind-up attack that flattens anyone in front of him.
Also, yes, you can look for their animation to avoid it. When they’re about to hit you with that interrupt/flatten hammer strike they hold their hammer behind them for a few seconds (might be 4-5 seconds). Their Battle Standard move (that’s the heavy hitting one) they hold one hand up towards the sky (basically like any warrior would do when they activate their Battle Standard Elite skill) which takes, I’m guessing around, 3 seconds.
They’re really easy to avoid on your own, but if you’re in a zerg it’ll be 10x more difficult to see coming since so much is going on on your screen.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but I always try and res people when I see them. On the off chance that I’m just getting pummeled by AOEs and conditions, I’ll back off and try to kill the things preventing me from ressing the person that’s down before I get back to it.
I also like to be lighthearted about it some times. I’ll say things like, “Wakey wakey”, “Breeeeaaaath!” or “I won’t let you die!”
If you see this guy (Gust Root) around you, then 9 times out of 10 you’ll be resurrected.

The citizens voted her in, thus elected her to the Council. That also means that every person who voted for her, also is responsible for Lion’s Arch being the way it is now.
You Evon supporters could of stopped me when I was going “Eenie Meenie, Miny, Moe” on the baskets. I know at least two had Evon’s portrait over their heads when I was standing at the middle. Although I highly doubt my two votes would of done anything except very slightly lessen the defeat.
“And I’m Scarlet Briar, and I approve all of these messages as long as it keeps you fools yelling at each other while I burn your ‘precious’ city to the ground! HAHAHAHAHA!”
“I’m General Trahearne, this won’t end well.”
Go home ,Trahearne! You’re not needed here. This is our story! ;_;
Who says they haven’t?… for all we know they’re just hitting everything that comes near the gate, whatever side they’re on
I’ve read somewhere (might of been this thread might of been another discussing about the Tengu) a player observed them pin cushioning a pair of Dredge that got near the gate, also there appears to be a wrecked driller near their wall.
I’ve seen this. I was running around LA looking for those heirlooms for the achievement. I wandered near the wall, but not too close because I knew what would happen, and I saw a few dredge run up to the wall and then get destroyed by hundreds of arrows. It was pretty cool.
Just did the math (if you are crafting the whole thing from scratch)
1 Augur’s Stone
925 Blade Shard
15 Delrimor Steel Ingot
500 Dragonite Ore
500 Empyreal Fragment
1 Gift of Ascension
5 Glob of Coagulated Mists Essence
250 Glob of Ectoplasm
50 Iron Ingot
50 Mithril Ingot
30 Obsidian Shard
25 Orichalcum Ingot
500 Pile of Bloodstone Dust
35 Pile of Crystalline Dust
10 Pile of Incadescent Dust
10 Pile of Luminous Dust
10 Pile of Radiant Dust
1 Spinal Blade Blueprint Scrap (1/4)
1 Spinal Blade Blueprint Scrap (2/4)
1 Spinal Blade Blueprint Scrap (3/4)
1 Spinal Blade Blueprint Scrap (4/4)
50 Steel Ingot
150 Thermocatalytic Reagent
500 Watchwork SprocketsWhuatz the 250 ectos for?
I think that’s if you want to infuse the ascended version. I may be wrong though, I’m still new to ascended crafting.
I need one more stack of blade shards and I’ll be able to get my Tempered Spinal Blades; can’t wait!

but…but… muh map chat ; __ ;
One of the primary reasons I can’t wait for Lion’s Arch to be reduced to rubble.
I can’t even follow the map chat half the time anyway, there’s always one of the same four or five attention-kittens spamming emotes a hundred times in a row next to the bank. I could name them by name at this point. Or maybe this is just a Borlis Pass issue.
Raze the place, Anet! The only thing better than standing amidst the rubble of that derelict haven for crime and degeneracy would be slaughtering some baddies over it.
Oh god, this. It’s not just a Borlis Pass issue, I’m on Yak’s Bend and we have a handful of players that do that. Or they just talk about nonsense and then get annoyed at other people for talking nonsense.

I can’t believe I forgot about that movie, now I’m super pumped! Any idea when it goes live? I know the date but the last event I was at the start of was the Halloween event 2 years ago and that was on a weekend during the day.
I’m guessing at reset?
If I see someone going overboard I just report them. Luckily though, I haven’t seen that much malice when I do the Marionette event, but the ones I do see I just straight up report them and see if ANet can deal with them.
Once again the fountain/statue will be destroyed. If I were them, I’d just put a picture of the statue/fountain on a post or billboard and write, “We’re not rebuilding this again. Here’s a picture.”
