warrior is more difficult and results in 1v1 battles are really really random most of the time. you can get lucky some times or pwn total newbies though.

guadian can take a lot of punishment or alternatively deal loads and loads of annoying kind of dps while evading very good portion of attacks.

for solo roaming guardian > war any time imho.

Actually necromancer minions are pretty horrible.

1) You cannot give them commands so there’s a good chance they don’t do anything useful at all. Like for example just stand there while thief stabs you to death.
2) Jagged horror olol. Summon AFTER battle. Very useful. I could not live without. At least it doesn’t give rally anymore.
3) Rather long CD compared to how fast they die to random aoe.

You cannot really compare ranger or mesmer here.

Ranger pet is very survivable, my pets rarely die even in like 50vs50 in wvw. And even if they die they keep wandering around just to annoy ppl.

Mesmer keeps constantly summoning new ones with very little cooldown and then explodes them to kill your pathetic necromantic abominations.

Only one which comes to even close being as pathetic as MM is guardian with spirit weapons.

Flesh golem is ok in small fights because it regenerates but even then usually dies to random clone shatter. or whatsoever. And then you’re without that extra cc and dps pretty fast. And die horribly.

That said I am not sure if MM should be viable in zergs, but it isn’t so much viable for anything else either except maybe spvp and pve.

I wish I could even F1 attack and F2 return to me my flesh golem when playing necro.

burning is wrong way to fix necro

what we need is balancing weapons (staff over anything, regardless the build anyone???) and skills and traits. and fixing the broken ones which dont work at first place.

also there’s this little problem getting nearly instagibbed no matter how much hp or armor or DS you got, because you are lacking (not saying there isn’t any) defensive stuff.

they nerfed some weapons and skills and traits to oblivion and left them there since betas. would be time to get necro back up and running tbh.

AoE has nothing to do with 100v100 fighting.

People zerg because it’s is benefical system over having small tactical groups. If you increase aoe cap ppl just come and complain their ball was nuked and it’s unfair like it actually is, in fact.

Here’s couple points:

1) waypoints allow zerg to move around map lighting fast and overrun any small group they spot
2) there’s no real need to defend objectives on map, just keep steamrolling with zerg
3) even if there was need to defend some objectives there isn’t enough objectives which can be taken by small force so it actually hurts. sure you can flip camps but that hardly has any effect.
4) lack of logistical concerns i.e. who is going to defend while you attack

etc.

if anyone of you know someone who has played eve-o ask them how well thought mechanic near unlimited aoe from titan was. this is what would happen with no aoe limit too.

We are getting farmed, its the first freaking day and we are already getting siege spawn camped on our own borderlands

I feel you. This is how whole SFR has felt after first week in tier 1 from last christmas. At least now we can fight someone else than VZ once a year with this new system, so we’re not being overrun whole year.

Being outmanned on every border except prime time is pretty boring.

Let’s see warriors probably one of best damaging BURST skill like eviscerate makes maybe 2k normal hit without uber buffs. And for that you need to build adrenaline by being hit or hit something.

Now compare this marvelous BURST to heartseeker or backstab whatever.

I think even guardian is better at doing damage bursts than a warrior. Again not that guardian is so great.

I don’t believe them unless i see that. “We want to make kick useful” tada increased range from 120 to 300..yeah funny.

That would be awesome, kicking a guy even further from our hit range.

Necro is bugged and broken and weak.

Now after you’ve tried necro, go try warrior. Warrior is so bad that even upscaled newbie necro can beat up experienced warrior with a solid build.

Warrior is horrible for solo and not so good for small groups either. In zerg they’re ok just because of endure pain and lots of hp/armor, even then I’d say guardians rock warriors any day. Not because guardians are so awesome, it’s because warriors are so bad.

a lot of suggested changes are not needed, honestly I did not find many interesting either.

majority of weapons and skills work fine in my opinion, except that some skills and weapons “moves” are difficult to execute. i.e. mace #5 is difficult to hit in small fight, it’s too slow and clumsy. GS #5 makes you run into wall and you cannot go in different direction or whatsoever. GS #2 is very easy to dodge/block mace generally feels underpowered and annoying to use, somewhat.

very good portion of utility skills and traits don’t mix in a way that could work well in REAL situtations even if it would look nice on paper. many times you’re left to either do burst or megatank, very little space for flexible builds which could adapt in different situtations.

in general i am a bit sad panda that guardian feels like a more flexible melee fighter than warrior. skills allow for fast and flexible movement in combat plus some good cc you can use while not rooted in one place. if i were to put it in fewer words:

warrior = rectangular <> guardian = round

round is nice and smooth, rectangle is edgy and doesnt fit in anything.

Grenth is horrible.

I’ve been participating in grenth event on 3 different servers and more than 10 runs. All failed. NPC just randomly dies on something every time. And you got to start it all over again. It’s way too time consuming. If you want us to keep the npc alive at least make it obvious how you can do it without randomly succeeding. Difficulty scale just doesn’t seem to compare with anything else I’ve seen in this game.

I had no decent reward at any point for spending hours of my time.

Downed state is fine. You’ve many ways to prevent reviving. If you can’t, you maybe tried to solo too many alone or your zerg just isn’t finishing ppl fast enough.

Good things:
1. random spike might get you downed but your buddies can revive you, if they don’t get downed in process
2. prevents going berserk with burst builds i.e thief. you can only take so many ppl alone since they’ll revive their buddies.
3. add more tactics like interrupting stomp or revive etc. maybe you should have brought that hammer to interrupt instead of lets say double axe

Bad things:
1. too many things get you a free rally in wvw. you hit a deer and it gives a rally when it dies in random aoe. cmon. I’m fine with random animals or whatsoever but don’t let ppl use them in that way. WHY???? -> because npc’s don’t have downed state, they shouldn’t give rally either.
2. rally favors some “tag farming” builds apparently. take a hit on about everything and get rally when they die. uhmm…
3. some downed skills maybe do too much dmg or are relatively too powerful, this is bigger problem in small groups than 1v1 or zerg. Lets put up and example: I’d down a thief..ok.. I am at like maybe 50-60% hp but when this dude goes downed he starts hitting like a truck, downs me before my stomp gets through, gets a rally from random turtle I almost killed by accident and stomps me. I can live with that, but I can really relate to pain some ppl feel about this. It surely doesn’t feel right there.

added: Also I’ve real problem not with downed but death. When you die you really shouldn’t see what happens, also character should be ported back to base after fixed time so you can’t just wait some invisible rez etc. lame stuff.

I’ve tried different setups and I find full zerk pretty fun in spvp or small scale wvw. In large wvw groups you really need at least some armor or vitality though. I really really do not suggest going for full pvt or even cleric. Being tanky means you don’t do so much dmg and you cannot kill the enemy. More often in (random class) 1v1 dps wins. Just dodge/evade/use protection/retaliation until you kill the dude instead of relying on hp/armor.

I did find armor over 3000 points (full knights) mostly useless, instead of that I switched for some valk/zerk gear to get 2-3k more hp and crit.

Scepter is really powerful as it is. It outdamages melee weapons easily in certain situtations if you have right setup. I can agree only that slow projectiles are less useful in zerg wvw. But then you have op staff.

If guardian needs fix on some autoattack it’s hammer, because you lose your target a lot and you cannot finish the last hit etc. I do not think it works as intended in wvw. In sPvP and pve it works better, even though still misses a lot.

Also staff autoattack is probably overly powerful in zerg wvw. It’s autoattack and has wide area aoe dmg AND hits relatively hard. If it would only do 2 of these things it wouldn’t be so bad but combine all it’s pretty powerful. Of course downside is that staff isn’t really good for much else.

Nerf staff and suddenly scepter will feel like a powerful weapon.

Matches just do not change often enough. It seems weird to me that when you have 1vs1vs1 match and loser does not drop tier, like ever. Even if matches were somewhat equal it gets boring to fight same guys every day.

Current situtation however needs much faster change than everyone on SFR quitting game for 6 months. We’ve paid to enjoy the game not torture ourselves every day fighting numbers at least 3 times bigger and better timezone coverage overall.

Not even going into talks about that maybe “hardcore” wvw is not the thing people should look for. Since there’s no such thing on maps with totally random dudes gaining random points and useless world bonuses.

Both pvp and wvw are in need of some juicy love. Have been from very beginning.

I absolutely liked GW1 because there was so much to do even after hitting maximum level in pve. For example get more skill books or get better looking gear etc.

GW2 gets very repetitive after hitting level 80 to the extent that it seems most grindy game ever.

I am a little disappointed because GW2 has great combat mechanics and beautiful areas etc. However it lacks interesting content. And I do not mean grinding better gear I absolutely hate any form of grinding. Just check out real sandbox games like eve online you can do a lot of different kind of stuff, get little money and gear and feel you did something with your time in game, unlike in GW2.

Pve is fun when you do world exploration first time. But then you’ve probably seen most of it. Areas are open world but they lack social interaction. Only area to interact with people is LA. Party system is really limiting. You cannot really jump in and help some random guy because you are not in same party you don’t get same rewards. It is sort of disappointing.

I admit that my main interest must be pvp. However wvw has only 2 different maps, even though it’s great fun for a while it gets boring because you are not rewarded in any decent way. There is no killboards or anything you can brag about and you do not get recognized for your efforts in wvw by your server or guild. There’s no respect or anything. No one just cares or even knows about what you have done. Not to mention you do not get shiny loot from difficult opponents.

Spvp is too much separated from other game. This is very big mistake.

I suspected GW2 was this way even when I bought it though, it is still a shame that game stayed that way, since it would have a chance to be much more.

Unnecessary disincentives for WvW

WvW reward vs cost ratio is unnecessarily bad.

You have to spend a lot of money for repairing armor, building sieges and upgrading, not to mention getting preferrably more than one set of gear.

Full exotic gear costs maybe 30g and not going into cost of ascended gear yet, which is necessary once they add them in game. Repairing gear is at least 1 silver but it’s not uncommon to have over 10 silver bills.

Loot is bad. Current loot system counts party somehow. This should be removed. WvW play has very little to do with party mechanics unlike dungeon where you are automatically in same party anyway. Also difference between being in party and not is huge. If you’re not in party all you seem to get is like blue drops or some claws whatever. Not to mention if you are supposed to be any help to your allies you are not supposed to run MF gear, lol.

I’ve given up idea of upgrading anything which costs more than 4 silver since I probably net less than 1g a day while I can play like 8 hours a day.

This is ridiculous compared to doing one fractal dungeon (takes maybe 1 hour) which can drop you ascended gear or materials for them, not to mention you usually net at least 1g even without having pretty common exotic drops.

WvW badges are currently useless crap.

If they really want WvWers being able to not do pve content, they’re not really encouraging it in slightest.

We have basically 2 maps (bl are copy paste lol) and practically no rewards so there’s no reason to play except lols. I wonder how long it can keep me or other ppl interested.

Skale Venom Consumable in WvW. Intended?

Problem with PvE consumables is that WvW is essentially PvP not PvE and people can have practically unlimited stacks of consumables with them. There’s no like 1 consumable per day limit so you could have one weapon of mass destruction with you for luls.

Biggest problem is that anet went lol WvW is PvE way and nothing has any kind of balance by default.

Your classes in WvW can already have ridiculously unbalanced setups compared to SPvP and then you get not only craftable foods but some PvE items. Everything would be OK and fun, if they would have been balanced SOMEHOW, but there’s no such thing seen yet.

With skale venoms and such problem is that they favor limited amount of builds compared to others. If there’s item like skale venom we should have around dozen similar items for other builds and some way to counter it whatever.

Just fyi before “SFR is blob server qq”

We were kicking your bums all day long despite the fact that we had outnumbered bonus for very good portion of each day.

Our “blobs” of 10 people were apparently so scary that more than once we had 30 man “inferior” numbers just flee in panic even without us moving towards them.

“PRX” – well dudes, I have been playing couple nights just to see how big numbers others had compared to us, we had like 4 people on each map while enemies had 20 man roaming “gangs” ganking us at our own spawn. I certainly hope PRX helped us a bit.

Dps specced warriors shouldn’t be a problem you deal good enough damage, use renewed focus, aegis and shelter heal to block bursts, or just dodge. More tanky warriors can be a possible problem since they have more hp than you etc. fun stuff. Just make sure you’re doing enough damage.

Any more than totally dumb thief is problem to anyone, not only guardian, since they can possibly just keep blinking until your skills are on cooldown and wear you down. You can try hammer 5-2 gs 2 (+some added burning) but unless the thief is really dull under level 80 with crap equipment, he won’t die from that by any chance. Don’t think they’re glass cannons, because they’re likely to have just enough armor and hp to survive a little burst you throw at them. Luckily for you they can use stealth and heal anytime then come back at you again until you die or get extremely lucky with your crits/aoe to get them downed finally.

Heh, have to agree with culling.

Anyhow I had similar thoughts about removing whole scoreboard and ratings… in a way. But I think current system is better than anything at all.

Personally I think more pressing problem is that WvW quite apparently wasn’t designed such competiveness in mind even though people really would like to play WvW more seriously and get rewarded for it. I think, that it would be really awesome if WvW had different kind of scoring system which would allow servers to have teams to get them points etc. which again would give nice bonuses etc.

For me the only reason to try stay at top tiers in WvW is that you get a little bit better opponents and you don’t need to play whack a mole at enemy spawn. Sadly it doesn’t give actual WvW players much of anything as it is now, only winners are people who get kind of free bonuses for their farming, which I don’t mind but just saying.

Another thing completely is hilarious class balance in WvW since anet thinks WvW as PvE so trololo. Go wild and have op builds… or not maybe please? Not that classes seem very well balanced in sPvP either yet.

underwater swimming is fun alright… and pve ok.

however combat is – if not horribly but at least noticeably – still unbalanced and people are way too hard to finish.

I think also how different classes work underwater does not make sense. For example necromancer suddenly has whirling melee skills when they’re normally not so much about whirling. I think underwater skills should be closer to land combat skills.

Why is the wvw loot so bad?

Drops should have nothing to do with the level of target. We cannot choose who come to play on opposite side.

The culling fix was terrible, please if your going to ask Devs to come and read your suggestion post do not attempt to speak for the masses. I personally despised the new culling trial.

Would you please explain to us why this old system is better than trial system?

Trial showed enemies pretty well, only downside was that sometimes you couldn’t see so many of your allies. I cannot figure out how it would be better not to see enemies like in this current system.

Current WvW tactics are based around killing enemy before they can see you because of this current culling system. I really really would like to have reasonable explanation why this is better.

warrior: a lot ways to do a lot dmg and good hp, suprisingly can also heal well if traited that way.

guardian: mediocre dmg but more boosts/heals for party and yourself, low hp

It depends a lot on your playstyle and personal preferences tbh. I haven’t found yet a working warrior build for myself. My problem with warrior is that I need to stop movement to do some nice stuff but with guardian I can keep moving and leaping around fast. (I have no idea why ppl say guardian would be slow :p)
