I think mm doesn’t work right if I got stuck at emerald for like maybe 1-2 weeks while some totally new to pvp got to ruby in couple of days.

Basically mm doesn’t seem to try making balanced games, it tries to keep your win rate at 50%. It sucks. A lot. It’s either win by 500 to 100 or lose in similar way, amount of “even” games seems to be very low.

It really sucks to play few hours while you could do nothing to results, I don’t think that’s pvp it’s pve.

Tempest has heaps of damage negation.

Tempest: 40%
Frost Aura: 10%
Earth: Geomancy Defense 10%, Stone Flesh 150+ toughness, Diamond Skin.

Scrapper runes for another 7%

Having aura build lets you have the ability to apply permanent protection with spammable heals ontop of everything else.

Running that set up with celestial, PVT or Sentinal then yer, you will need atleast 2-3 people.

if you play reaper you should know you can solo ele with it with half decent build without even trying too much..

if you’re playing a team and you know how to deal with enemy builds ele is no big problem. boon removal, interrupts, focus target, unblockable skills etc. play much bigger role now than before which is kind of a good thing though, even if it isn’t just on right balance yet..

elite specs are generally “op” compared to other builds but that’s another matter..

some classes like elementalists could really use some other choice than celestial.

and then amulets have one flaw that stacking vitality and toughness is pretty much useless, I mean that compared to damage resistance or hp you get very little, it’s only useful if you can stack boons like protection or aegis or evade and you have very good condi removal. other than that it’s pretty much gogo marauder go since you’ll have just enough hp to survive and then you just hope you do enough dmg to kill everything before they get you.. of course it’s not that simple always but in many cases yes.

It makes me wonder why my necromancer with soldier amulet (in full hp RS) dies in less than 3 seconds. Does that amulet really do anything. Just for example.

Diamond SKILL

hi I main necro and I can tell you you will not have any kind of problem breaking diamond skin with carrion gear, just saying. If you have problems your build is extremely weak.

The thing is that without diamond skin ele just dies way too fast. If it was boon it would be removed like instantly in team fight so that would not work either. As long as ele does not have any other way to counter INSANE condi bursts and cc diamond skin is fine.

In my opinion damage on carrion reaper necro is way over the top and Super cheesy. It will eat eles for breakfast without problem in few seconds in hands of skilled player. It requires you to push few more buttons than just 1 though. Surely ele might just escape but he’s not going to stand there for long.

On other hand if you are 100% condition build you should just think why the kitten you even try to kill ele 1v1.

power necro can use axe for stacking while building LF. It doesn’t have impressive damage but it has some range and #3 helps with kiting.

I’ve played for like 9 hours today and maybe 2-3 wins together. (unranked)

I have hard time to believe it’s my fault we lose every time.

Is there some kind of sneaky mechanic I don’t understand or can I really drag whole team down with me all day???

a) 15g is really not that much, just win few games
b) turai ossa is good enough anyways, you don’t need other ones so much unless you play premade with some Super clever tactics.

GS 1 – speed up a bit or add chill to all hits
GS 2 – 1 sec evade while casting
GS 3 – range increase
GS 4 – fine as is
GS 5 – make the pull 100% reliable

These are legit requests by the way

  1. is ok now otherwise but 3rd hit is a bit slow so everyone gets out of range By then even without trying
  2. is ok now
  3. range is ok but cast time is a bit sluggish compared to usefulness, you can get vuln stacks without ever using this
  4. yeah ok
  5. pull should be reliable cone into direction you are facing, elevation seems to especially kitten this up.

but yeah what would be awesomely op..

- i really like that idea of rise giving flesh golems they could also have 2nd phase to knockback and unblockable of course

- nothing can save you would last long enough so you could land one hit with GS (compared to unblockable marks from minor trait this is would be so op)

I like tempest but some warhorn skills have dumb targeting, especially many #5 skills.

Other thing is that elementalists in general have very limited amulet choices because it’s difficult to focus on just one or two things but you need like all of them, or at least more than 2. I personally would like to see something like power/condi/vitality/healing power with different primary options, especially more amulets with 4 stats and healing power or whatsoever.

courtyard was 100 times better than skyhammer and yet it was removed.

major problem with skyhammer is poorly designed cannon room. it should not be behind portal for example and there should be no instant death fall near cannon. also cannon effect area should be smaller or damage less or no knockback. also other instant death traps should be really removed and it would be actually semi-decent map, not good but playable.

now all you need is decent DH/engi spamming traps or whatsoever in cannon room or something similar and games goes full anarchy mode, especially in unranked where ppl have uhm.. Limited experience???

i think pvp rewards should also include hero points and masteries like tomes of knowledge give levels etc. or maybe you could just simply buy them for spirit shards.

reason is simple that if you play a lot of pvp you are blocked from many things in pve unless you have time to grind pve stuff like hero points and masteries too.

pvp shouldn’t be primary way to get them though but it surely would be nice to get something. i.e. now i keep getting tomes of knowledge By tons but i have zero need for them atm.

i kind of agree specializations made trait line choices pretty boring.

for power necro it’s like spite, soul reaping, reaper if you go dmg, you can try tankier with something instead of soul reaping but meh your damage and DS uptime will be horribly pathetic, just saying.

no idea about condinecros been playing 500-1000 games with power reaper now though.

i do miss my core dagger zerker but it isn’t viable anymore for anything it was nerfed many times over and over (ds/weakness etc so called “fixes”) so it cannot work really for anything else than seal clubbing.

reaper is okay as long as you remember you will be cc’ed to death many times over and thieves laugh at you most of the time

Stun/daze/fear, apply some conditions or damage he should be low hp or dead By then. Only problem is if he can force you on defensive. Usually some extra bleeds etc. will kill him when he goes stealth if he’s not careful.

Also always carry STAFF. Just spam AoE where ever you think he could be.

In WvW it’s tricky because he can always run, you can not, so there’s no way to be sure you can get him.

I just think it’s odd you need STAFF for every build to sustain LF.

Most of the time when I’m out of LF I just spam staff skills to build up LF then use shroud again, just because it’s easy to hit and it has some AoE pressure effect plus CC.

GS is mostly viable for abusing low hp and downed enemies or just #4 for finishing. #5 doesn’t seem to work in most cases either ppl always have stability or it just doesn’t hit don’t know exactly what’s wrong with it, but I don’t mind because #2 is awesome and I’ve staff and shroud for everything else.

I used to play only WvW until I figured out that I get absolutely nothing to mention for it. Probably thousands of hours and not even one full ascended set for one character. And if that’s not enough playing didn’t feel like you achieve something, like ever. Only ones getting something out of it were leeching casual zergers and PvErs.

It’s probably how anet wants it to be, but a lot of people are not happy or already quit because of it ages ago.

Then I pretty much quit playing now I only play sPvP randomly.

You can surely kill mesmers, it’s just so much up to luck. Slightest random thing which you cannot expect and they just burst you dead By smashing keyboard randomly. My problem is that it requires very little skill to do that By luck, there’s too much RNG involved.

ICD basically makes the trait pointless, it was useful with well of darkness when you were mobbed By a lot of enemies in spvp or small group wvw, otherwise it was already pretty much useless, or at least much less useful. Now with ICD it makes very little sense to pick the trait and wells are pretty tricky to use thanks to slowing down targeting.

I really wish they had not done this condition “buff” to mess things up, most of things were working pretty well before.

To me it doesn’t make sense to balance game around world boss battles and dungeon runs I rarely even play, just saying.

necro used to have nice enough defensive traits/skills and shroud was somewhat useful despite the limitations but they’ve pretty much nerfed everything since betas to sum it up. i really do think the guy is right that revenant is going to be new necro or something.

People were asking for sustain so you just don’t sit there like a chicken when your life force is out. For many builds it was/is still difficult to keep up life force. There was absolutely no need for life stealing buffs, it was already working well enough. What they did was add braindead healing/life steal builds for casual pve heroes for no obvious reason.

Another thing about sustain was many defensive skill and DS nerfs like weakness and DS hp thing which no one really complained about, some dev just hates necros (or he has wife playing casual pve hero necro) so he wanted those things gone like all other nice things. As if it wasn’t enough here comes chilling darkness nerf to nerf new op things but in same time make old things just useless crap. Great job, imho.

Consume conditions nerf was no needed, I was already running signet heal on most of my pvp builds before, now what they did was made it most stupid healing skill in game. Their king idea on paper was probably use dagger #4 or automatic new op trait whatever after healing but in practice it just doesn’t work like that, except pve but who really cares about pve balance as long as you win?

All this leaves me a feeling that only allowed build is some kind of useless tank with signet heal or gtfo. Just sayin’

Sadly mesmer can use just random build and push buttons like a donkey and still win unless you’re lucky enough. Of course there’s some extreme cases who just don’t know how to play Computer games at all, those you can handle easy. That’s how it has been since betas.

For leveling power/toughness/vitality in that order. Use staff and minion traits and skills to faceroll almost everything except dungeons where you should stick to something else like wells. Weapons would be staff and axe+focus or axe+warhorn whatever you like really but you need that staff for facerolling while leveling. Basically shoot mob with staff to make minions attack then spam staff skills there to keep minions alive. (note that in some environments it maybe difficult to keep minions alive, in dungeons they are mostly useless because of aoe spam)

For minion master pick skills which heal you and your minions or make minions stronger. For wells pick skills which reduce cooldown and all that stuff.

Conditiondamage skills are not very good in pve usually. It takes forever to apply all stacks to make damage and stuff even though you can make it work too but it’s.. quite boring tbh.

For pvp there’s too many working builds to list. But necro has apparent weaknesses so try to figure out how to overcome those for your favorite playstyle. You can be tanky, berzerk or condition build or something between and make it work decently (except top end meta bättles)

Shorter duration with quicker pulses would probably be better for PvE. But for PvP i think 3s duration and 3s pulses is better. Obviously CPC is quite weak as it is. Its a mediocre area denial. Which is why a lot of people want it to projectile destruct as bonus. But i dont think the duration and pulses is the problem. The self weakness is definately not justified in the skills current state though.

You are supposed to use skills to transfer condition away or use them to boost consume conditions.

It’s usually not very effective though, because how condition transfer works. CPC is just horrible skill overall, it gives poison which is very nice but how it works is just crappy.

Necromancer has nice conditions and all but some mediocrely useful skills/traits were nerfed into oblivion for no apparent reason and then there’s also so many ways to cleanse conditions away which makes sense when it comes to spamming DOT conditions but absolutely not when it’s something like weakness. In my opinion there’s too much condition spam and too much cleanse to make use of it cleverly.

Funnily enough stun break is almost only thing you try to use only when needed. Even though if you’re necro against spammior™ you stand no chance.

As long as runes give you power or might is good for somebuilds, it doesn’t make much difference.

Ogre runes are fine for general use. Earth runes (or whatever they were called) work fine if you want protection uptime. Might/boon duration runes if you use a lot of might. Wurm runes also work with some setups etc.

It’s really much up to what kind of traits and skills you have together to get maximum effect and hard to say what’s best if you don’t know exactly what you have.

Stomping and interacting in DS should have worked since launch, not least because you could exploit game mechanics to do it anyway. Much like ultra lame mistform stomp omg.

Axe change doesn’t make any difference it’s at best a supportive weapon to keep pressure on target. Currently I think best necro main hands are dagger, dagger and dagger. (sometimes also dagger). in pve you are forced to use staff and axe of course because of “damage projection” but hey it’s just pve.

Dagger cleave was probably mostly meant for pve. Otherwise most people would have probably something to make dagger actually shine better, like better DS sustain etc. Maybe better #2. Also #1 chain is annoyingly difficult to land last hit omg.

Also dmg or condis whatever is not most annoying issue with necromancer. You can do all of that at least decently. Most of your facepalm moments include being perma stunned/knocked down etc. And running out of DS in split second and not being able to get it back in any way decently. (mostly talking about pvp here ofc). It’s also funny that condiwarrior is probably more dangerous than condimancer because imba/op burning dmg but hehheh.

I’ve said this 100 thousand million times before but LF should slowly regenerate without attacking or killing something. Killing and attacking works fine in pve but not in pvp.

If you check back you see gazillion threads telling how people just quit (most of actual pvpers quit GW2 ages ago) because no one was really caring about pvp apparently.

“New” immobilize stacking is horrible.

It was one of the countless reasons I got frustrated and quit. Old way was working and no one was really seeing anything wrong with it but somehow devs had this bright idea to change it. There was some skills which had too long and some too short durations but otherwise it was actually working much better than this new kittycat thing.

Necromancer:
One of our goals with the past few balance updates has been to add counterplay to various skills that lacked telegraphs. With necromancer, we’re changing the way that Dhuumfire is activated – allowing players the opportunity to react. This will also allow the necromancer to carefully plan their burning application. We’ve also adjusted some values for Minion Master builds based on player feedback.
•Putrid Explosion: This ability is no longer unblockable.
•Training of the Master: Reduced the damage increase to minions from 30% to 25%.
•Dhuumfire: This trait has been changed so that it will make Life Blast inflict 3 seconds of burning with a 10 second recharge.
•Vampiric Master: Reduced the effectiveness of this trait by 10%. The healing portion of this trait will now scale with the necromancer’s healing power stat.

- Dhuumfire is not whole source of problems with condinecros. Nerfing dhuumfire does very little to condibombing. Even though has some effect on 1v1.
- Putrid explosion. Did someone actually complain about this in sensible manner? I really do not get this. Maybe high level meta problem or something.
- Training of the master. 5% nerf. Yeah, well, let me tell you problem with minion master is that everyone is minion master. Not this one trait which actually makes minions marginally useful. If you really want to do something, well, I think problem is that you can have only couple of builds based on minions with some specific gear sets. Not this trait.
- Vampiric master. Oh god. Please stop making healing power useful for necromancers and nerf even last working power builds at same time. Vampiric traits were finally marginally useful for some fun but not op builds. Just remove healing power stat requirements. Or even better whole healing power stat should be removed from game and healing skills balanced that in mind. To make healing power skills you would first need some working healing builds, which do not make sense at all with necro.

Instead please focus on solving condibombing, make more viable minion skill trees maybe combined with condi or power builds, more minions to pick especially elite. Also work out survivability problems for builds which rely on defensive conditions to keep them alive like glassy power or condi builds which are now in worse position than ever. Condi cleansing is just too powerful or random. Worst example is warrior.

All that said. Burning condition is over the top damage-wise or at least some classes have too easy spammable sources to cause burning. Not just dhuumfire necros which have it on 30 point trait. For example you cannot continuosly Dodge huge spammable burning fields, or have 6th sense to know when some random burning procs from crit or block or whatsoever.

Funniest thing is that it is not condinecros but powernecros who are most hurt by this anti-condition hardcounter spam kitten.

I wish someone in dev team would actually play this game.

It is impossible to stay alive when your conditions, which are not meant to do dps but allow you to defend yourself, last like 0.003 seconds if they have any effect at all.

1) many “on DS” traits have been nerfed either directly or indirectly in a way they are not useful at all, or they weren’t very useful to begin with.
2) you cannot have all “on DS” traits at once with any meaningful build, you can take couple or even few traits to support your build, just do not rely on them too much, because of point 1.

- Fury on DS gives nice bonus for crit builds, also nice if you use on crit sigils or traits with lower crit %
- Retal on DS is way too short to be useful but sometimes you don’t have much better choices for spite 10. Retal dmg is meh.
- AoE heal when exiting DS is not really useful but you might want to use it while stacking other heals.
- Stability on DS needs way too much soul reaping to be worth going for specifically. You have other ways to go around lack of stability in most cases.
- Enfeeble on DS is not very useful anymore but you can pick it if you don’t have anything better to do with curses 10. (Hahhah situtational weakness for 2s my fluffy kitten and only condinecros care about bleed stacks)

condi users can opt to have toughness with rabid, if you go direct damage you can.. use berserk gear and be glass. What is left is soldiers. I find it funny that condi build can do armor ignoring burst while still having good armor but zerk build cannot do much better at all while having zero armor. Still better balance than with PvE gear in WvW but.. whatever.
