And who cares if they are kiting you they need to get on the point eventually to take it. And if you want to talk about more aggressive playstyles meditations with GS/ and Sword/Focus work wonders…. Guard defensive weapons (that is hammer/staff and Mace/shield) don’t have any gap closers because they are about area control and keeping people out (or in if you can keep em inside ring of warding).
But yes glacial heart does need a little bit more oomph….

If you are your team fight bunker then I am dead serious… Meditation heals are selfish in team fights and do jack for your team. AH plus shouts/symbols is some very high HPS. If I ever had a team fight bunker running meditations in tourneys I would say GTFO. Meditations are fine for back bunking not for team bunking. And yes guardians do have the highest HPS in the game.
Edit: A meditation guard can survive 1v2 for awhile. An AH guard can’t survive as long… The two builds just work differently.

Sorry OP guardians have the highest HPS in the game you have to remember you proc AH plus you can take symbol heals and the more people around you the more insane your heals. Warriors are great back bunkers and can survive for a while 1v2. Guardians can’t survive as long 1v2 but they can decide team fights and keep their entire team alive.
Big picture Guardians are not 1v1 bunkers unless they run meditation builds. And meditation builds in tourneys is O.o for bunkering.
Seems to be working fine for me. This plus line of warding were the reason I’ve won spirit watch matches the last few times
Just give mesmers your condi clear access to protection off a 5 pt minor trait and healing off of a dodge roll. Guards have low health because they have high armor and good healing.
Eles have low health because they have good healing and good access to boons and great condi clear.
Thieves have low health because they have evade spam and stealth.
Maybe anet should undo some nerfs instead. Or reduce the cd on armor of earth. Both would be good.
Also D/D cleric eles still make some good back bunkers or far point assaulters… They just don’t do as much damage as they once did.

I also wish that we could summon two duelists simultaneously use chaos storm to one shot entire groups of mobs have veil be a full ring instead of a line and toss our scepters into the air after we run and hide from a single jotun….

I’ve been noticing a build that’s virtually unkilleable (we’re talking needing around 3 people). Lots of condi damage, invisibilities and coming out of invis at full health.
How do you people deal with this? There’s no counter for invisibility and it’s chewing at my insides everytime I run into this build.

In my experience, this is the far from the truth – they do very solid damage. running 10/0/0/30/30 S/D-shbow thief, they’re one of the few specs I have yet to figure out. Against equal skill level, I usually lose. Mind posting a spec so I can take a look at it?
its usually 20/20/30/0/0 they melt really fast to consistent condi pressure. It really isn’t that great if you have them on you team because they don’t actually cap a point. So you have to outlast and burst… They aren’t tanky at all.
I’d have imagined they were something more like 0/20/30/20/0 with Rabid – constant access to regen, protection and aegis with multiple stealths that leave pets to continue doing damage for you while you’re healing/repositioning. Pets that punish you for hitting/killing them. Why go 20 domination?
My spec has sustain, but not so much burst – I think this spec is just a soft counter for mine.
That was the spec I ran for a long time. And it’s not as condi ish as say a 20/20/30/0 because of condi duration. Or 0/20/30/0/20 for extra condi.
or bring stability? one word… Guardian… Or have an engi be home bunker engis can take 53% less damage when stunned which negates a stun warriors damage for an entire team. Engis can eat a full 100b while stunned losing no 1-2k health max… Seriously warrior stuns are not that broken.

Also teams need to figure out that sometimes kiting away from your bunker isn’t always that smart since they are the ones pumping out the AOE heals… The more you know.

2) it heals over time but if you do your maths it basically heals more than any other healing skills: 407 per second = 12210 every 30s, compare it to Healing surge, which was the strongest “burst” healing skill, that does around 9k with a 30s recharge.
Actually, it has a lower HPS than:
- Healing Turret (it also heals allies, supplies a water field and removes two conditions)
- Consume Conditions (with 8 or more conditions)
- Mantra of Healing (which actually has the highest HPS in the game but sucks because of the long cast)
The reason Heling Signet is so strong is because it synergizes with a lot of other skills.
- Stun your enemy for 3 seconds -> thats 1.2k health back.
- Use Shield Stance -> another 1.2k back.
- Endure Pain -> yet another 1.2k health.
- …
Mantra healing has the highest HPS in the game if using restorative mantras. No other time. In fact unless traited for restorative mantras the mantra heal sucks big time. Healing turret infact does not have high HPS just based off of the skill. It does have high HPS when your engi blows all his blasts to get max effectiveness from the waterfield. Healing signet heals for 4,000 over ten seconds combine this with adrenal health and its more. Now if the warrior is a banner warrior he now has 3 separate sources of passive heal and only one of these is regen the boon… See the big difference here?

For me, every other class is easy to beat with this build. I have been having a 10 winning streak since I changed to pistol. they were all mesmers, but now and then, I lose because of a careless mistake. If I find out that it wasnt a mistake but the build’s limitation, I try to make it match up to it.
My philosophy. If you can’t beat a Mesmer, you are gonna have at least a little bit of a hard time beating other classes. i don’t want to lose to a Mesmer as often. With this build, fighting other classes was a breeze for me. Except Mesmers sometimes because I make some mistakes. (I am clicker, and it is sorta hard to track them with my mouse. Lol)
Again, the reason why I have pistol is because it gives me momentum. It stuns, and bleeds the opponent so much that they retreat. With torch, you can’t do that. yuo just heal up during that time and try to find a good postition to counter. And sometimes the counter fails. With pistol, it is almost guranteed to put massive pressure on the enemy you are facing.
Menace. I am NA and I would love to spar with you on any of my classes if you need to test this out against players that aren’t r1-10.
You clicked your abilities in a solo-que match against people that were all sub-20… This is not a measure of how good your build is but a measure of the quality of people you used it on. I am sorry you are also mistaken in using a stealth based build in a cap the point style match.
Stealth Mesmer is not viable in tournaments. PU may be hard to kill but it is not viable for the game mode I am sorry.
Also you posted a video of a “wvw” build being used in PVP. Despite popular belief WvW builds are not the same as when you take them to pvp some runes are different spreading of stats is different and there are caps on certain skills/stats

Shaman’s amulet bunker engi = 18k hitpoints. 25% of 18 is 4500 health.
That’s about a 7-second burn. You’re telling me that the five of you, running all condition specs, couldn’t put a single 7-second burn on him before AR kicked in? Not to mention you could have brought just one single power spec…
^This right here. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket and expect to have no counter in the game. The fact that condition damage is only really countered by this shows that it is OP… Seriously.
Engis are great stand alone bunkers but not great team support they offer good heals and that’s about it. No group boons out of regen no prot no stab no aegis just heals and rwgen. They are painful to kill but not OP
Ah, always good to hear of another bunker engineer. I’m not sure what nerfing them would do. It would be easier for Anet to send e-mails to the ~five of us and ask us to run a different spec
In seriousness though: bunker engineers have several weaknesses. As far as I know, each bunker engineer player uses a different build, but none of them can be invincible.
I use 10/0/30/30/0 and as far as team support goes bunker engi is not as good as a guardian. But in stand alone survivability it’s kinda awesome… And yes we have several several weakness while we are likely running automated response if it is FIVE people trying to kill us I am sure you can put enough conditions on us to where even under 25% you can kill us. Then add to it that it is a 5v1… Noone should survive that and against any team with a half a brain a bunker engi will not survive an outmanned fight for more than a minute or two. Unless you are just that terrible. In which case it isn’t the engi’s fault.
Obviously it’s not 100 percent confusion uptime. Rather, with the high confusion duration, you can stack 5-7 almost immediately between their cleanses, as you’re stacking it every time a clone pops (yes, via shatter or death), plus other skills. Again, I don’t have any video, but if you want to run/duel with me (I’m on TC), I’d be happy to demo. Or just try it yourself. And no worries if you’re skeptical; just don’t criticize because I (and most others) think the runes are op.
Pyro — Yeah, four interrupts on 25, 28, 28, and 45 sec cooldowns. More if i’m feeling overconfident and want to throw in mantra of distraction. And by the way, what are your thoughts on perplexity?
The 6 bonus could probably use a 10s ICD or a lower stack size. The runes themselves aren’t too overpowered, it’s the spammability of interrupts on thieves and engineers that makes them silly, and it’s the interrupts that need to be nerfed.
The complete lack of sense here is how the sixth bonus on the rune has no ICD. Yet Blinding Befuddlement does and that was BEFORE these runes… Logic much?

yeah this was just an extra slap in the face to mesmers from anet. We have the most traits in the game around interrupts yet other classes can do it like bosses. We have runes of perplexity which should have screamed mesmer yet the 6 spot gives better confusion stacks than our now gutted blinding befuddlement trait. GG anet…

Guildwars 2 may have many players playing it, but that doesn’t make the game successful (PvP-wise) at all. Why there is a huge number of players listed? There was a feature called “Daily Achievement”, mabye you heard bout it. ESL and PAX? Not gonna comment on that, we all know that was a joke (or a Pet-Zoo how the development calls it).A puzzle would be a good analogy for that. 10 pieces won’t satisfy / challenge you for a long time. It gets boring quiet fast, because it is mastered quiet fast. A puzzle with 10’000 pieces will satisfy you for a longer period of time. Not just because it has more pieces, but because it is more challenging and more rewarding, due to the fact, not everyone is able to master it / or not that fast. Seems like A-Net likes to sell 10-pieced-puzzles nowadays.

However every class has cheese builds (phantasm mesmer, condi necro, stunlock warr, HGH nade engi) that you can pick up and run with and bee just a little too effective at almost everything.
Wasn’t specific enough there. Sure mastering a class needs somewhat longer. However be able to play at an effective level is done in one day with this meta (that’s what I meant -.-*). Besides that ppl can play their classes pretty bad and still succeed at high levels. I observed some so called “pro” players, which failed with placement of IoL etc. The worth of “mastering a class” is not valued enough in this game. Sadly not.

It depends on what kind of support you want to dish out however for a PvE support mesmer signet of inspiration is pretty much a requirement. In PvE my build can do kitten of protection and regen. Prismatic understanding can also apply self Aegis more often than a guardian add this in with retaliatory shield you and your entire party are running around dungeons with some of the best boons in the game.
Remember january when everyone said this game was dead and had no hope for esports ever… here we are 10 months later people are still singing the same tune yet the game is still here and has actually achieved somewhat of an E-sports status with PAX, ESL etc…. So maybe whiners gonn whine…. Here’s some cheese

Mash Hog… Or Gasmic for his IGN.. he is an amazing ele still works his magic and he is always on our team… Message him he will help you. Yes eles pretty much only have 30 trait points to spend. But then again so do Mesmers 20 in dueling is mandataroy and usually 30 into illusions… thieves are still pretty much always going 30 into critical strikes. Lack of build diversity is not just an ele problem. But ele is still not the absolute bottom of the barrel. This still goes to Mesmer. Any team that has more than one Mesmer or any Mesmer at all is screwed against my team…. Teams with another ele or stacked eles… Do pretty well still….
Bitter irony is the fact that no developer will even bother to answer this thread. If by chance someone from human resources bothers, they would virtually state that “developers would love to but have the majority of their time invested in such in such”.
Its not just eles… Im sorry but you guys are not the only ones feeling neglected… mesmers just aren’t really making a big fuss about it.
Also from personal match experience and others I have faced teams that had two eles and man they were amazing… A team with any mesmers ever. Died… hard.

Being stuck has happened for me what you have to do is restart your game client… and just hope your connection is good enough for you to get back in the match w/ in 1 min or so… I know on maps like Foefire it can be a little weird especially if a bug gets introduced that makes the load time ridiculous or the unplayable lag bug.

I am actually talking about an ele running 0/30/0/10/30 and yes he is still using cantrips but his burst hits like a truck since my entire team can stack 25 stacks of might easy peasy.
25 stacks of might makes anyone hit like a truck.
Okay it hits like a rocket ship then… Not too mention eles have better team support through better blasts and combo fields.

Eles are in a better spot than mesmers thanks to having decent condi clear good stunbreaks and decent active boon defense may not be by much but they are in a better spot you also talk of bringing arcane thievery and blink. So that means you remove 3 conditions on a very very very long cooldown and you may or may not have it land thanks to how crappy arcane thievery is and then what about portal?… Are you just a troll with that statement? Also 20/20/0/0/30 staff/GS have fun with that. Why even use iPersona in a build where you are never in melee seriously it just makes no sense what so ever.
And its true there are some bad mesmers but every single team we faced that had a mesmer not only lost but got steamrolled…. Not even a chance… Teams with eles did much much better not too mention our team had a burst ele….
So… Talking with guildies and other people I pvp with on a regular basis we are all in agreement that because of the meta, good condition removal, better access to stability, and a more forceful burst while retaining SOME defensiveness… Yes eles are in a better position than mesmers in this meta. Because of these simple things
1. Better condi removal through ether renewal and cleansing wave
2. Better access to defensive boons
3. Some almost instant burst with air skills.
All in all most people I PvP with on the regular agree that eles are in a better place than mesmers.
Add to this that any team we faced in recent tournaments with a mesmer lost every match. Team had a mesmer they lost. Team had an ele they had a much better chance of winning… Not to mention we had an ele as well.
The GS is lacking any sort of defensive benefit.. and I’m not even too sure how that could be compensated for.
I know this is sort of stepping on Arcane Thievery’s toes, but if Mirror Blade transferred 2 conditions to enemies on bounce, and Mind Spike stole 2 boons (with a larger radius and blast finisher) and both abilities did more damage.. then maybe we’d be on to something.
It would also make mirror blade traited with illusionary elasticity something worth taking. I think if it worked like this “transfers boons from enemies to allies with in range 2 per bounce” it would make the GS some amazing team support.
