Pls anet wake up

It’s also a possibility that the prices are rising due to Anet taking “a step back” from market controls per JS’s message a few weeks ago.

Wow can’t you just be happy that you got buffed again this time? what is wrong with ele’s wanting more and more even though they are super strong atm.

This is the problem here. Why buff dagger when it was completely fine in the first place? Why not buff warhorn so that we could get more build diversity?

What’s your basis for saying “completely fine” on dagger?

No, I am not exchanging the staff for the dagger.

Thank you Anet, you make me want to stop using my main char…….

It’s already hard as it is to play an Ele with all the BS “we need to balance this and that”.

Seriously, ANET, playing a staff ele is NOT easy compared to other classes. Now you want to FORCE people to go Dagger….

What’s is the point of ranged then? You want everything to go melee, then say so. Drop the staff from Ele, bow for Ranger/Dragonhunter/Warrior, Staff for Mesmer, …etc…….

And give us Sword/Dagger or Sword/Warhorn……..

I don’t understand your complaint — both dagger and staff were buffed this last patch. I would expect a complaint if staff was nerfed in lieu of dagger, but that’s not the case.

If you liked staff before Tuesday, you should like it a little more right now.

You should not be punishing players for having numbers. This is the draw of wvw in the first place. Large scale combat brings alot of dynamics with it. I can see this creating a toxic environment where players will yell each other to kitten off.

Meh who cares. Op is going to come back and create a few more of such threads. 25 threads and hundreds of tears later, this topic will go the way of boonshare.

True but on the other hand it shouldn’t be as rewarding to blob up in one massive ball training over everything in your path. Especially when they go after small groups all the time offering little way to counter them other than run away and then log off because eff that noise for the 5th time that evening.

I’m sorry your experience is so bad in WvW — but this is a rather shallow, narrow view on WvW. This game mode is designed for large fights. If you are a small-team/solo roamer, then run from zergs — you would do that in real life if you are honest with yourself.

My WvW experiences are very different. I generally get “trained” by small teams that purse a single foe without relenting. Most zergs let single players pass and tell their players “don’t squirrel” — which is an effective tactic against zergs where a single player can strip out 3 or more zerg players (how’s that for a man power trade?).

Every aspect of WvW is unfair — that’s the nature of an open-world pvp system (in any game). If you want small, even-matched, fair fights, then go to sPvP — seriously, no joke.

It needs a cap — the same way rewards have a daily cap, and other game activities are time-gated. Otherwise a small percentage of the player population run away with the system.

Raising the ceiling just delays the same problem you have now. Giving additional sinks for luck may provide a monetary reward over those without capped luck, which opens a new set of issues.

If you’ve capped at 300% then feel proud of your accomplishment, and enjoy all the extra lootz you get over the other players not at 300%.

What exactly is the point of making one?

The satisfaction that you obtained the eventual legendary from start-to-finish on your own. When the sense of accomplishment after putting in the work makes the owning of it feel all the more special.

I generally agree, although I would also say that farming up the gold to buy a precursor on the TP is still “putting in the work” — in other words, no need to belittle those who take a different, yet viable, path to the same result.

I love staff as well but most skills are very very slow to cast and are difficult to land when dueling. I know other players will say “but staff is not for PvP”… yeah I get that — but maybe it could be with some quality of life changes.

The biggest being make my auto-attacks easier to land. I don’t have much control over them other than how far away I am from my foe. Even when I start my cast close to an opponent, they can usually get outside of 1200 range before the cast time and projectile travel time completes. That’s just silly.

I’ve settled on Marauder’s Armor and Weapons, with Celestial Trinkets. I feel a bit more relevant when bombing keep walls, and the increased AoE damage is more of an avoidance threat for the opposing teams.

The Celestial trinkets round the stats out nicely, keeping crit chance and crit damage respectable.

Sword has cleave on auto-attack.

Most skills have a target in order to assign illusions an “owner”.

Very few ranged weapons can auto-attack without a target (guardian staff with range of 600 is the only one I can think of immediately). Elementalist has active abilities which are ground-targeted, but no auto-attacks.

Your arguments keep circling back around to “I want to run Dagger mainhand, but I want to see a sword displayed on the model when I do so.”

Dagger is not really a melee weapon. I say this because only lightning-1 has the ability to cleave. Everything else is just a weird, close-range spell. Water-1 has a 600 range which isn’t even “close”.

So a main-hand sword as a true melee weapon with cleave abilities would switch things up a bit.

My Elementalist/Tempest is full ascended celestial — everything.

I mostly WvW in groups, never really solo, and almost always using Staff. With Celestial I feel like I can do everything ok, but nothing really great (makes sense right).

Lately I’ve had the urge to switch it up a bit. I’m leaning toward converting the armor to Soldier or Wanderer for the extra power/vitality (and toughness in the case of Soldier). I’m torn though because it’s expensive if I decide to switch back later.

Any suggestions on alternative stats to Celestial? Different stat mixes between armor and trinkets?

It’s sending a catch 22 notice to hoarders, they can hoard all they want now, but that investment will more than likely fail in the long run once they start adjusting again.

It seems to me the only way hoarders will be enticed to sell their hoard is if prices go up.

So maybe “stepping back” means elimination of some supply channels.

Something MUST be done about the RP in DR

A new separate roleplay chat tab though, I don’t believe is needed. We should all be able to share the /say channel without the need for bickering and squabbling over what is and what isn’t classed as ‘spam’.

As a passionate role player you should be looking for ways to make RP more accepted in the community as a whole.

Asking other players to take action to accommodate RP is sort of the opposite. Instead, identifying tools and features for GW2 is a better solution.

I’m confused on how creating a dedicated RP channel takes away from the RP experience. It’s essentially your public channel to RP… just like /say or any other channel.

Again look for ways to integrate RP into GW2 that’s friendly for all — otherwise you’ll get more “RP spam” hate. Perceptions matter, regardless of intent.

I really appreciate the complexity. The maps are like a fine wine — you don’t sit there and chug the whole bottle as fast as you can. You take it in slowly and enjoy.

The Mastery Points on the other hand — I’m disappointed so many are behind the mini-game challenges. I find most of those a pill. Just goes to show that HoT offers a lot, and you aren’t likely to enjoy 100% of it, but you probably will enjoy 80% of it!

That’s true but Scepter #2 hits hard and is spammable — it has near 100% uptime when traited for healing symbols. It’s also “parallel damage” so you get Scepter #1 will the symbol ticks. That’s true of the bow symbol, but you can’t spam LB #4.

The Scepter #2 symbol can also get up to +30% crit from traits which is pretty huge.

So I think saying “LB is actually better than Sc” is not accurate. Each is better in different situations.

in PvE, I’d place the spammable symbol above the bow due to the mob AI and design of many events. In WvW, there are situations for either.

Three shouts generate auras which definitely aid bunker. I would love a 20% c/d reduction on my ele because that’s 20% more boons and healz from shout auras.

Also “Wash Away the Pain!” would get a 20% buff in healing output as a result of the c/d.

I would consider taking this trait if it had the c/d — it would be a tough pick with the regen/vigor on aura trait at the same tier.

Its a bit grinding in auric basin to get durability, but this one just pays off if you feel to squishy. See my answer in your other tread.

You can also get Durability runs using the Provisioner in WvW (assuming you’ve maxed the ranks). See https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Heroics_Notary

I took a break after HoT came out — I was in a bad place with GW2 prior to the expansion and wasn’t prepared to throw $50 at it (not after the Manifesto fiasco).

Anyway I came back with the $25 sale and I’m very impressed with HoT. It’s very good imho with lots to do and many new features. You could argue that vanilla GW should have been as good as HoT, but all large games start out as vanilla with a desperate need for chocolate syrup.

At this point I would throw $50 at a second expansion if/when it comes out.

I also recommend a break if you’re burned out — it does help. In my case, it was a full calendar year which is is bit extreme, but it worked.

Anet, if you gonna nerf guard...

…having half the classes as either useless or barely used in WvW raids/zergs, whilst at times half a zerg is made up of one class or there is more of that class than four or five classes combined in a raid/zerg, is the opposite of diversity, you get diversity by giving classes roles so everyone can bring something to the party.

Again I have issue with your statement. I have never seen anyone “kicked” from a zerg for playing what they want — so the lack of diversity (if there is one) is due to personal player choice, not an enforced meta. Yes some professions are desired (rev for resist. guard for stab, etc.), but that’s not at the exclusion of other professions.

If your argument is “my favorite class doesn’t work well in a zerg” that’s different problem — a problem that’s not solved by nerfing anything.

Guardian has always been TOP tier profession in WvWvW. Guardian has been WvWvW meta since Autumn 2012. Sometimes half of some zergs have been guardians. Don’t you think there should be place for a bit more diversity?

This only applies for zergs. Outside of zergs (solo roamers, small havok teams, etc) this is not necessarily the case.

When you examine zergs you see many players with whatever builds they want so nobody is excluded on the basis of profession and build.

Thief/Daredevil is one of the best solo roamers, should we nerf it to improve solo roaming diversity?

The elite specs provide a nice way to balance because it limits the combinations that exist in game. When a second elite spec is introduced, the devs don’t have to worry about how it’ll work with the previous elite spec because you can only have one elite spec active.

I don’t mind that the current elites are more capable than not running an elite (these are elite after all). I’m not buying the P2W argument because you can’t buy just an elite spec — instead you’re buying an entire package of content. If you want it, then buy it — the company needs to make money.
