At least back then Anet offered decent weapons and armor in the game and put the costumes and optional unlocks in the store, now its all in the gem store.

So does anyone else like to schedule their day around a video game? Personally I don’t. I enjoyed being able to go into the game whenever and be able to events and explore maps. Now, if the new maps meta events aren’t being done, exploration becomes sooooo slooooow and if I miss the time by about 10 minutes, then I can’t do that content for at least 2 hours if not, I have to wait til the next day because I don’t have the time to waste.

I think worthwhile content isn’t just what content you do. I got my money’s worth out of the base game during the 2 years I played WvW until they ruined it. Discovering something, being needed either with our group or siege or taking down a nicely fortified structure, it was fun, it was content that I wanted to do again. My base point of worthwhile is “Is this something I would want to do again because I enjoyed it?” Note I did not say because the rewards were great or to get some RNG skin. That being said, I feel like I haven’t gotten my money’s worth from HoT. It just feels like a never ending grind, gold sink, and I have to schedule my day around it just trying to get into a map, and If I miss out on the window, I have to wait an entire day to try again since I already scheduled that day. (I’m looking at you DS)

i dont see your problem.
If you dont like them dont use them, simple as that.
Or does it bother you that other people might use a healing seed or turn into a norn bear form? Why? Does it also bother you that thieves go stealth as well?
Plenty of other non racial skills that are never being used…yet nobody complains or makes forum threads about removing them.
-Eles glyph of renewal
-Eles Conjure earth shield
-Warriors physical skills
-Rangers sharpening stone and some shouts
-Necro spectral grasp
-Necros corrosive poison cloud
-Guards spirit weapons (some, but usually all)
-Engies personal battering ram
-Engies thumper turret
-Engies toolbelt skills( some)I havent seen anyone use those things since forever yet nobody complains to remove them… they just dont use them, just like racial skills
If you don’t see a problem then why take time to log in and comment on this specific thread instead of ignoring it? Plus I actually have seen people use some of the above skills more than you think. Double plus is there are some who do complain about racial skills and how they are underpowered and some who want them to mean something but then Anet comes along and says “We don’t want them to be too good”. If that is the case then I made the suggestion to just remove them since they have already started doing that.

Reverse psychology doesn’t transfer well over text such as forums.
It’s comparable to sarcasm, one might get it, the other won’t.Your exaggeration only lead to your post being a short rant (or vent) lacking constructive thought.
As such it likely won’t be received well.If it’s your desire to have a greater focus on racial disparities, please voice your opinion clearly.
My apologies for having possibly conveyed any negative emotions with these comments. I assure you I have no ill-intentions.
To be honest I was serious about them getting rid of Racial Skills. From my knowledge they don’t want them to really be too good otherwise people might make a character a certain race because of the bonuses either skills or something else that one race might have over another. Since they really can’t make the skills useful why have them? (I thought they did a similar thing with traits and that’s why they condensed them down or removed unpopular traits)
[????] – HoD
Please just get rid of them completely since you have already phased them out with the Revenant profession. Also just get rid of of all playable races except the humans since all the armor is designed around them and since you don’t want the choice of race to be a determining factor when people are creating their characters.

easy solution: Revert dungeon rewards and have Anet apologize for being money hungry so they nerfed dungeon rewards so people would buy HoT
[????] – HoD
I agree with CrashTestAuto.9108 so much with their post.
- All HoT feels like is a giant time and gold sink with rewards stuck behind keys, stuck behind long boring meta events or stuck behind masteries that you have to level both with points and insane amounts of exp.
- Also story doesn’t make you feel satisfied, it makes you feel like there’s so many questions that they didn’t even touch on and if it was not for the rewards (like the guaranteed Leystone Armor box that is not found anywhere else excepted from RNGesus) that I would NEVER want to do it again (compared to the 9 times I have done the core story).

Body: I have been playing Guild Wars 2 since February 2013. Before that I have played TF2, Minecraft and GW1 (for a number of years). Always on the look out for some interesting games to try. Since many changes have occurred, I decided that I need to look for another guild that likes PvE since my old guild switched to more WvW focused. My favorite things for PvE are Fractals (currently still on low level ones), Dungeons, Exploration and PvE Guild Missions.
Requirements for potential guild:
- Love PvE
- Own Lost Precipice GH with Ore Synthesizer
Notes: Currently just in need of a GH of Lost Precipice, although if the guild is good enough I will certainly participate in other activities that they offer. Also WILL NOT RAID
NOTE: Currently doing a trial run with a guild, if I am still looking for a guild after I will update this post

I would have to say yes just because the Elite specs are WAY better than normal specs (probably to get people to buy HoT like they nerfed dungeon rewards and pushed people to fractals and raids and even fractal rewards are low until you get the Fractal Mastery which is HoT content)
But as a value standpoint, I don’t think it’s worth it. (My personal opinion feels like its just DLC and I still don’t know what comes with HoT and what they are going to wait on til the next xpac)
[????] – HoD
I don’t know what everyone is complaining about not having mastery points, when HoT launched and I logged in I believe I had almost enough mastery points except for like one. (Which I went and did karka queen and got the point I needed.)

Can we have a dragon that is nice and doesn’t want to destroy everything? Like when it flies, have rainbows behind it and if you get “corrupted” by it, make it that they are super nice or something. I’m getting sick of all the dragons we currently have with only one personality “I want to destroy everything and have minions that are slaves”. That is all the dragons are, every single one of them. It’s soooo boring.
[????] – HoD
Yes, they made the game too easy so Anet nerfed them and put longer timers on them or changed certain foes from Champions to either Elites or Veterans so they wouldn’t give as much experience.
[????] – HoD
So I heard that they unlock automatically now, and my Revenant is level 80 but I can’t find them anywhere. Did they move them? Surely Anet would not let us pick a Race and not give us all our skills that each of them get (since for me that’s what defines the Races in this game since the armor looks like kitten on most of them.)
PS: I picked Norn and I want my cool transformations since Gw1 couldn’t do it.

Please add The Silverwastes and Dry Top to the list of maps for HoT Mastery experience.
Central Tyria has:
- 6 Cities
- 26 Zones (28 counting SW and DT)
- 8 Dungeons
- Fractal Level 1-100
for mastery experience meanwhile,
HoT has:
- 2 Guild halls
- 4 maps
- 1/3 of a raid
for mastery experience, so please add SW and DT to it so it doesn’t feel like a total grind.
PS: SW and DT are in the Maguuma Wastes which is pretty much just the outskirts of the HoT
PSS: HoT Masterys almost outnumber the Central Tyria ones by 2:1 but only have about 1/5 of the area to level them up when compared to the rest of Tyria

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’ve noticed that the Trading Post loads slow no matter what (though half the time these days I get a time out loading error) so it has almost got to the point that I really don’t like to try and sell anything on the TP unless its really valuable.
So it got me thinking how about some type of “Sell All” window with it. How I think something like this could work would be:
1) Open up the sell all window
2) All items will be listed in your inventory that you can sell on TP
3) Click a check box next to the items you want to sell
4) Have another 2 check boxes next to the item. One either to have it Sell Instantly or one when you click it allows you to enter the price that you want to sell it and is listed at that price.
5) Click confirm and all the items selected would either be listed for the price of your chosing or sold instantly to whatever the price is there.
6) Pick up your gold and enjoy your day
While this is not a really “Sell All” thing, it does help with bulk goods (like maybe crafted items left over from leveling or major sigils/runes left over from salvaging rares for ectos). Maybe something like this could help save peoples time from not having to load for each item when you have like 10 things and the TP takes like 30 seconds to load each time.
(PS: I would love an option to be able to pick up goods from the TP by using mail and paying for it, I mean we can sell not having to be right next to the merchant, although its probably game breaking to allow it but I just haven’t seen the thread that tells about that)

So I am coming back to playing the game after about a 3 month leave. From what I could pick up, new equipment has been put into the game and I have looked into the gear my characters have been using and found that they seem to be slightly out of date. So here are some questions if anyone would be kind of enough to help me with, I would be greatful.
1. Before I left, I remember different ways of allocating stats with equipment, like weapons or accessories were better if you wanted more stats than armor could provide, Is that the same or did it change somehow with the EPak?
2. Most of my gaming is in open world with not a lot of organized people, so I thought of maybe adding a little bit of balance into my gear along with traits (which I have to redo as well), Is there a general line to go with, while trying to get some balance, (like Zerker/Knights was an older way to introduce some toughness into a build) or is it too dependent on traits that add certain boons to help (like fury/might) so that I just have to decide the build than my gear?
3. Kind of off topic but still related, With introduction of Raids, from some who have done them in Guild Wars 2, Is it more skill based or a combo of right skill/right equipment?
[????] – HoD
Anyone know how much I need to spend to get the game to function how it did about..24 hours ago? I logged in today and cannot play any of the content that requires fighting. Once I enter combat my FPS goes straight to 2 and my ping goes straight to 1000. Every. Single. Time. And the only thing to change is I turned my computer off when I went to bed last night. Please and Thank you.
[????] – HoD
So normally I can get about 15-20 FPS usually, even around Teq and the other world bosses, in PvP and even with the zerg parties in WvW. But Anet has released something last night that has made my game unplayable. If I ever get into combat or even near an enemy, I get a straight 2 FPS until combat is over. Which means I cannot play without dying and wasting my gold to WP when whatever happened wouldn’t of killed me at 15-20 FPS. I will also miss when my guild goes to take our guild hall unless there is no combat at all. So besides not letting non-HoT owners unable to play with their guild getting the halls but even the HoT owners are left out too.
[????] – HoD
So, loads of lag this morning. Yesterday was good, but now If I combat it just lag out and die every time.

I would say after two years, it should be plausible to give refunds. I don’t know why they would engage in such business practices of selling an item for content then removing/breaking it and then refuse to give a refund because “at some point” it may come back. Maybe if they gave a meaning to “some point” people wouldn’t be as upset about it but at this point it feels like they are just trying to ignore it and hope people forget about so they can keep their money.
[????] – HoD
I really wonder why there are still people who wonder about the fact that content which is delivered within an expansion actually requires the expansion. I never played GW1 but it is common sense in every other MMO that you have to pay for the expansion if you want to experience something which is coming along with the expansion. Maybe this wasn’t handled that way in GW1.
Personally I don’t think the line was drawn really well. In GW1 the campaigns was divided by maps, it wasn’t all one big map, while EOTN was. (Although it required a special quest to get to and if you didn’t have EOTN it wasn’t enabled at all.) Also if this was true then everyone who didn’t get the expansion would be limited to EB in WvW, but I think the current plans include everyone the ability to excess to new maps as well as EB. Also, people in a guild wouldn’t be able to use the Guild Hall. As a Dev has said, once claimed a non HoT owner can go into it and hang out with other guild members but can’t access to HoT only content.
I think the problem is they are trying to get everything to mix together and has created gray areas of what is strictly HoT content and what is HoT content but can be accessed to the non owners.
[????] – HoD
So the other day some of my guildies and I was talking about the F2P restrictions and I went to look at the chart that tells about all them when I noticed something. It turns out that all Masteries are HoT exclusive, so any F2P or anyone who just has the core game will not be able to use the Precursor Mastery or the cool Pact Mastery either. So I feel bad for all the non-owners that was looking forward to getting that precursor in a way besides RNG or the TP. (Personally I thought that the precursor mastery and the pact mastery was core masteries while the HoT masteries was a separate thing.)
https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/95982157-Account-types-Free-Core-HoT
[????] – HoD
So I take it that the Guild Portal is going to be restricted to only HoT owners so that we have to tell non HoT owners in our guild “Sorry but since you don’t have HoT you can’t do Guild Missions with us”
[????] – HoD
Looks is not what make a weapon legendary, it’s either functionality or power. So they won’t add more power (because people are easily upset) they have to add functionality. Otherwise people will be less inclined to get them. Which means they will maybe spend less time on the game (because less carrots to chase which is important for a lot of people). Which can lead to them not playing/buy gems for the game. Which leads to Anet not getting money and since Anet is a business they need to get money. So yes while I agree the upgrades should be written over, I don’t agree they need to take the option away for switching stats out of combat. (Wardrobe just makes skins easier transmute, not easier to get stats so its still expensive to craft them and will be more so with the new updates to raise prices up on material goods)
[????] – HoD
Such dodges also favour ranged fighting, since you would have to get out of melee range way too often.
the current dodge favors melee fighting. Either way one is going to favor a certain fight style. And personally I have found the mystic way of being able to be melee but still dodge out of attacks instead of into them and still maintain my damage, so I guess it boils down to a l2p problem.
[????] – HoD
meh, I’ve played those games, those dodges don’t work so well because mostly lag. You dodge, it looks like you moved out, you still get hit anyway even though you’re out of the red circle.
Latency limits a lot of gameplay decisions.
This happens in either system. The lag can be so bad in this game that the attack can be done and over with before you even see it. But you do have a point, I guess my idea is one of making sense instead of just making it work.
[????] – HoD
Is there anyway that we can get an actual dodge and not a press a button get like 5 seconds of invulnerability? Having people actually have to get out of the AoE and using dodge to help you move quicker may break up a bit of that SaS mindset and bring something fresh that hasn’t been done for the past 3 years.
[????] – HoD
is that the games beginnings will get ignored. With expansions like this, the designers stop trying to blend everything together and instead just put a solid border around each different thing. It happened with Guild Wars 1. You could tell each expansion/campaign got better and better but they ignored what they already made and you could see it degrade. Now it will happen with Guild Wars 2.
They even said so in the new legendary blog post "but with the exception of the required Bloodstone Shard, the ingredients are all about playing in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns. So new content is going to be geared/balanced through HoT until a new expansion is released, then its going to be all about that until another. Then whatever they already created will become more outdated, more less balanced around future whatever specs or skills or whatever, until it becomes like a world map of today. "There’s the core game, there’s the HoT game, “There’s x games location”
[????] – HoD
Not anymore as soon as HoT hits. It seems like Anet are going to make old content not worth doing while making new/newer content more worthy of doing. (Fractals and Raids) So I wonder with this new content how much more are they are going to change their minds about? Personally I hope they change their stance on mounts so we can have some fresh content and not all this boring buggy stand in place while dealing damage to something.
[????] – HoD
Yup I listed Kudzu, paid a 152g listing fee and now I am missing the fee and Kudzu is not in my inventory OR the TP. I didn’t get an error message and it was before the TP went down for maintenance. Submitted a ticket and hoping to get it fixed otherwise, yeeeah, kinda unhappy lol
Wow, I feel bad for ya for losing a Legendary but I hope you have enough proof to say that you had one. My buddy lost a legendary after cancelling the listing he had and it got lost in the TP and support said, we cannot track items on the TP so we cannot prove you ever had the legendary (Sunrise).
[????] – HoD
Usually when this has happened to me, the little asuran npc there says “its too dangerous and i just got you out in time”. So I assume it has to deal with an event that happens there at certain times. So maybe come back at a time when there is a different event happening/no events happening.
[????] – HoD
So with a probable chance of a disappointing Halloween event for Guild Wars 2, I would recommend looking into the Halloween celebrations in the original Guild Wars series. With 7 years of content to back it up, it may more entertaining than the buggy content Guild Wars 2 has been given as of late. I have included the link so people can check out the content that will be available for those who want an alternative to the GW2 celebrations.
[????] – HoD
nope. Just chuck it up to as a mistake. Sorry for your loss.
[????] – HoD
So from skimming through the meet the druid, i noticed there was a very large amount of healing and that we was promised that we wouldn’t have dedicated healers (or atleast make it equal for all classes) and it seems like that is what the druid is directly, so has Anet changed its stance on this and the “play how you want” (with new content that will probably HAVE to have healers/support classes to complete)?
[????] – HoD
Is nothing because of this annoying loading bug/glitch that makes it so I can almost never load in without restarting my game 2-3 times whenever I switch to another map or character. Rev armor looks cool, that is all I can gather from the preview screen.
[????] – HoD
Yeah, I’ve been having a problem like this for a while. I can log in, choose a character, load into a map just fine, then if I ever switch maps/go to another character it takes forever to load, or refuses to load and I have to restart my entire game.
[????] – HoD
True, but it feels like the direction that GW2 is going, it couldn’t hurt to try something different (skippable cut scenes) or events that is not tied directly to Living Story, pretty much anything that was good in the past that they just didn’t follow up on.
[????] – HoD
It seems like GW1 was a great game since it did not have to go F2P just to get people interested in it. Maybe Anet needs to invest some time into what made it successful and bring it over to GW2.
[????] – HoD
Interesting thing was that GW wasn’t a MMO it was a a CORPG, (or Competitive/Cooperative Online Role Playing Game), which was interesting for back in its time. Sadly, with GW2 release, population in GW dropped but with certain guilds, there are always people to play with, places to go, and things to do. Even now with the content drought GW2 is experiencing GW is still having the Wayfarer’s Reverie. So GW:1 | GW2:0 (Though I have to agree with you that they are very different games and both have their merits in different ways.)
[????] – HoD
There is NOTHING sad about the loss of heroes and henchmen.
Given how ridiculously easy it is to get a casual group for any dungeon/fractal in the LFG tool (and I main a ranger), I can only think back to GW1 and how the introduction of heroes was the end of me being able to find a group. Everyone just ran with heroes. That was the end of GW1 being an MMO.
In short, stop being anti-social, make a group, and play with people. Don’t try and make this a single player game.
Guild Wars is a CORPG, or Competitive/Cooperative Online Role Playing Game, not MMO, even with all the people. And yes, I also wish there was more options for this game in terms of dungeons atleast like the Arah Story, it scaling from maybe 2-5, so you can go if you only find 1 other person or 5.
[????] – HoD
1. They all used to be at 400 max, but with grandmaster crafting for ascended items, all but Jewelry and Cooking went up to 500. Atm, I don’t think they have planned anything for them but players speculate what they could do for the last 100 levels for both of those.
2.I think the greatswords was this type of collection (sun and stars based), so that explains why there are 3 skins for them. Also with the new expansion more legendary weapons are supposed to be coming but no word on them.
3.Melee damage is king. Yes all professions have ranged options but SaS (Stack and Smack) is the best strategy and goes the fastest so people do it so dungeons don’t take forever for those who have done them a lot of times.
4. Yes, it has been mentioned for a player to player option, but the Trading Post is there as a gold sink. It is a slightly safer way of getting money from other players but it is not fool proof, and Anet can’t even tell what items are on it.
5.Due to megaserver change, all the servers get into one pve zone and once a zone fills up, another one opens. It used to be server based but with declining numbers of people in pve (they used to feel almost empty) they added megaservers.
