I can see why people would post them here, so Anet would actually do something about them. Same for players hacking, if you report in game/support nothing happens, but if you report on the forums, action happens whether its the kind you want or not.

It would be nice if Racial skills could be useful, but they will not be for most people. Also it is in my belief that anet really doesn’t want them anymore. they have already got rid of them from the Rev class, might as well just remove them and they say “oh no one used them so we are going to remove them since we don’t feel like making them useful”. I also think they said they don’t want them useful or powerful otherwise people will choose one race over another because they are “better” so they might as well just get rid of the skills tbh.

I think that would be a nice idea, but it doesn’t make them money directly so I doubt they will waste the time to figure out what their customers actually want and just push more gem store remakes out. It would be even nicer to have in game polls when they want to change certain new armor skins because of possible mistakes or something else like that where you can get a larger poll size.

So I was thinking of getting into gw2 again after about..2 years I think. ATM though my good computer is down and I am stuck with a computer that can run gw2 but I do get a bit of lag with it, so I was hoping for some suggestions of either builds or gear that could help me survive but play again.
1. Probably playing solo.

3. Got all 9 professions to 80, all traits unlocked.
Personal thoughts, I was thinking MM necro for some added distractions for foes, or Warrior just because I remember them being pretty OP. I will probably not be playing new maps just because of Mastery issues and because they are not designed to be lag friendly. Thank you for anyone who tries to help.

Anet wanted the game to be easier to balance. This means less skills because the less skills you have the less balances you have to do. Anet has done this with a lot of things, doing or making the stuff that is easiest and makes them the most money.

$15/title for a game that is 12 years old? That looks pretty bad to me, especially since I had no trouble get the same combination for US$40 back when the game was still being actively developed (well, at least, there were adjustments to festivals & GW: Beyond).
Seems to me that $30 would be a “not bad” price, i.e. $10 per ‘campaign’ with the expansion thrown in.
For an old game it has been able to hold my attention better than gw2, plus it is actually a complete game while in GW2 they can’t even release an xpac. But, might not be up to your taste, because you don’t play gw1 because of gw2 but you play it because its gw1.

It would be nice if choosing your characters race actually had some type of impact but Anet doesn’t want that to happen because other games do it. Anet wants a boring world where nothing changes unless they change it, that’s why the Living World is in instances and it doesn’t matter if you don’t do events because nothing changes if you don’t or do. It would of been nice if the Races were as unique as they was in Guild Wars 1 but they lost all of that because it wouldn’t fit into the new story.

You know if they didn’t allow dps meters they would use AP to exclude people and if they get rid of achievements they would want the API to look people up on that gw2 efficiency, or even something else. So pick your poison, because they will always find something else to use.
Also you have the choice of who to play with, as do these other people. They want to have everyone carry their own weight. If you don’t want to play with these elitist then make your own group or get into a guild group. Just because this is a MMO doesn’t mean you have to play with every single person that enters a group/map/party/guild, otherwise they wouldn’t have a block list so you can ignore people you don’t like.

They don’t tell the players anything before it is 100% completed and ready to ship (except for HoT). This way they can’t be held accountable for something they said they was going to do then decided it was too hard and not do it. And they will not optimize the game because it is too hard and it won’t improve anything enough to warrant it.
Also a nice rule to live by here is: Don’t expect anything. If you do this, then when they release something good you will be impressed. If you expect anything good and they don’t deliver you are just gonna feel sad or angry.

Well people have the right to play with who they want. If they want people that can pull more of their weight and do more dps, I don’t see why they can’t play with those people. I know Guilds have reqs to be able to be in the guild, why not party reqs.

From what I’ve seen the people asking for race change aren’t asking because they made a character without thinking about the race, assuming it didn’t matter because they could change it whenever they wanted.
They knew they’d be stuck with their choice, but at the time thought they were making the right one and it’s only later on they found they wanted to change it and deleting the character to start over from scratch felt like too much of a loss.
Edit: I also think it’s an understandable request given that lots of other games offer it.
A lot of games also offer mounts but people don’t want them. I was thinking though it might give some warning that Gw2 isn’t most games and maybe they actually want to think about it or play the character a bit to see if that is the race they want to stick with instead of like 2 years later just wanting to change for the hell of it.

I suggest to have a warning somewhere on the page where you select your characters race that says in all capital letters “YOU CANNOT CHANGE YOUR CHARACTERS RACE AFTER YOU FINISH CHARACTER CREATION” or maybe something a little shorter. I make this suggestion because I keep seeing about 1 thread a week about changing their characters race through gems or some other item.

I gotta agree, after a few years of playing I got nothing left that I want to do. Core pve stuff is way too boring anymore. New HoT maps are laggy, zerg fest and if you don’t grind masterys, it is a pain to navigate. WvW used to be fun but with that mastery system, I lost my place that was in wvw. Never got into too hard core pvp but the more it goes, the less i want to do it. I can’t even bother to log in to get daily rewards. Maybe one day they will actually get it right and I may come back for it, but for now I would rather play any other game.

I agree with each game mode needs its own rewards and I am okay with that. What i am not okay with is Legendary Armor just being in Raids. I would like to hope that in the future they have a set for WvW and PvP and hopefully another set for the rest of PvE. I also agree you need to put work into these very nice rewards, but it would be nice to have something for the people that can’t get to a certain degree of skill but can still work towards slowly and over time.

Duels: How I would think these could work would be, you can invite someone to a duel. You can only invite someone to a dual in a racial city. If they accept, you will be transport to a small arena in the mists and duel. After the duel you would be transported to the city you was in. If they decline the duel, you can’t send them another invite for at least 5 minutes to prevent spam. You would also have a option to auto decline invites to duels in the options menu and they wouldn’t even pop up.
Skin Inspections/Preview: You can’t see the stats, only the name of the skin of the armor/weapon/costume that person is wearing currently. I have seen some nice armor combinations in my time but not always will they answer when I ask about it or it may be a very complex set of dyes/armors. Also should see what dyes they used in the “preview”. And to the people who say they want their armor secret, its in the game, its in the public, at some point someone can copy your look, its just easier with a skin inspection/preview feature.
Vehicle/Toy: I don’t care what you call it but I would enjoy more of them. I can see how people don’t want these with speed boosts. The only thing I would want is more of a selection of what kind of vehicle/toys you get. Maybe something like the charr bike or a dolyak whistle. And again, it won’t give speed boosts but, just a slight more flavor to change just from running to “riding” a broom, carpet, creature, or even in a tunnel.

Before HoT, yeah I liked to play my other characters, but Post HoT and after doing almost everything in the core game, I tried playing the HoT maps, only to find out that they are not solo friendly at all for me. Since then I have not been able to play my alts otherwise, I won’t get anything done.

Yeah, HoT really killed the game for me. Some of my complaints with it are -
- Maps: really confusing, and with no good z-axis on the mini map, meaning that I keep dying or getting lost. (this includes the desert bl) (SOOO MUCH LAGGGG) (so many zergs, not enough single player content)
- No more Legendary Weapons
- Still incomplete. Until the entire set of legendary weapons launch, it still hasn’t completely released, which is kind of hard to sell a 2nd xpac when you can’t make 1 complete one.
- Powercreep: with the new trait lines: for the small amount of play time I put in, the elite specs are WAAAAAAAAAAAAY better, in both damage and play ability.
- Maps on timers: I enjoyed the way Silverwastes did map metas, I could zone in and play whenever or map jump to one that had people, but with these new maps, i have to plan half my day around a stupid videogame.
- Raids: I’ve been with a certain guild a while and just raids coming out has caused me to grow apart. Before I could just jump in and play how I want with dungeons, fractals, openworld, pvp. Now its play this class and this build and this equipment and before you can join you must run it about 50 times and know every encounter before you have ever seen it. I enjoy playing not researching like i am writing a paper in college. If the encounters are so bad that I can’t have the time to learn in game then nty, more stuff I can’t play.
I really hope that Anet can turn this around with this new story (since that is all I have to look forward to now in gw2) but I will keep my expectations rock bottom otherwise, it will just be another turn off.

For instance I have a sorta friend who has Spark that I’m wanting to buy from him but since I’ve played Eve Online I’ve grown to trust absolutely no one in any online game when it comes to anything currency related.
I know scamming is a reportable offense but I want to know if Anet would rectify the situation if things didn’t go according to plan.
I know of the gold limitation when you mail gold.
What’s our stance? No. Just no. Sure it’s possible. Sure, sometimes it works. But sometimes (often enough to be a highlighted concern) it does not. Which is precisely why the developers created the Trading Post. Safe, secure, and no one gets ripped off. (Ok, guys, no rude comments about the handling fee. I’m talking the straight up transaction here, and it is exactly that: straight up.)
With the advent of the TP, and with all the security that it gives, are you willing to risk a P2P trade? If you are, I sincerely hope that all goes well for you, that you get the item you paid for, and everyone is happy. If it does not, we will not and actually cannot get involved, for a variety of reasons that involve not indicting innocent players who may get caught, tangentially, in P2P trading. (If I have to go into details, I will, but I imagine someone else already has and in my haste to offer advice, I didn’t see it yet. )
So, for trading, I offer my oft-given advice: Choose wisely.
I gave up trust on the TP when my friend lost his Legendary Sunrise off the trading post after canceling the posting and after contacting support they said, he never had it, they can’t tell that he ever had it or made it or have any log of it in the game. So yes, Choose wisely how you trade.

Don’t overthink it. Otherwise, anytime you died previously in the game wouldn’t make sense either. Remember: it’s still a game.
You don’t die in this game, you become defeated. While defeated is similar to death, you don’t actually die, because you can’t come back to life really easily. You basicly just pass out from being hit too much. When you are “revived” its like someone slapping you to wake up after being passed out drunk.

I’m glad that’s not the case here. They’d basically have to throw out the entire map, and then either we’d have one less map, or they’d have to spend resources to create new events in the area. I’d rather see that effort go into new content.
It’s a balancing act, for sure. The permanently changing world is interesting, but I know I’m not the only one who feels a bit wistful about the Tower of Nightmares, the Marionette, or Old Lion’s Arch.
If they redesign the events or make new events in the area that would be new content, or maybe just change to a really strong champion of Mordremoth like Teq is to fit the lore a little better maybe.
They might have to change it with Living Story content, but in the meantime – Remember, for a lot of people, the current Dragon’s Stand meta event going on right now is their first time killing Mordremoth.
That may be but for some of the lore nuts, we have a story saying we killed Mordremoth and are moving on but we still have a map dedicated to killing Mordremoth so it can kind of get confusing. Personally I think they made the DS map because so many people commented on how the last Zhaitan fight was so bad because you just stand there and push a button and he dies after a while. While the DS map is interesting, it just feels like it doesn’t fit in the story, but its up to Anet whether they want to be different and actually do what they wanted to do in the beginning (which is why they got rid of the Legendary team) or try and please everyone (which won’t work). But this is all personal opinion and I speak for myself and no one other than myself.

You could ask the same question about every game you start anew. OH you killed Bowser in Super Marion 64, and now you kill him again with a new safe file… What a question… Or to put it more in the context: Raid bosses. Xera gets killed daily, still you can kill her every week.
I don’t know about you but I’m not starting the game over, its not made to be like that. Besides that Death in Tyria is different. Just take your character, you never die, you become defeated, pretty much the reason you don’t need a special skill to “revive”. Since the Gods left, it is very hard to come back from the dead so they changed the mechanic. The Raid boss could just be Defeated and comes back, although something like the Elder Dragons could of been “killed” but may just be defeated and always come back.

Yes, without going on too much of a rant, the elite specz alone seem just too op to me. The second I unlocked the perma fury on Rev Elite Spec, I went through maps on double time and saved like 5 hours of play time (only had like 3-5 maps left to complete at that point), just because I did so much more damage and without even more effort.

I take the ANET people at their word when they say they are working on many aspects of the game at the same time. Expansion, WvW, PVE, Raid etc.
Just so happens Raid is coming out now.
I watched a girl tonight Raid. With a guild.
I have never seen such a massively choreographed thing in gaming. Over and over they’d die. Go over every detail of each others roles. Over and over. Step after step.
That is not my idea of fun at all but there’s enough GW2 things to go around so whatever.
I just have no intention whatsoever of playing a Raid where I feel like I’m an actor that has to rehearse every single little line/action to succeed.
I’d feel like I have to pay a Screen Actor’s Guild fee.
This is pretty much how I feel about raids, it wasn’t that HARD in fractals but at upper levels it did get harder but, it feels not to the same level as if one thing goes wrong, we lose the entire thing.

Personally I went back to Gw1 and found a good guild group that is still in the game. I find it is more entertaining over there than on GW2. Maybe one day Anet can actually follow through on their obligations but until then, probably going to be playing gw2 minimally

Doesn’t surprise me, bad management is always going to bring a place down no matter where you work, and if we keep seeing the trend of management advertise paid content but doesn’t deliver all of it, I can see people not buying more xpacs which is really gonna down the company even farther (if possible).
