I play the game fine. Don’t see any life changing bugs.

Every game/software will have bugs. Resources are limited. Minor bugs are often lower on the priority list.

GT 620 is in the same performance range as intel’s integrated HD 4000 GPU

It will play the game, but you won’t get smooth performance. It should be fine for light PVE content/questing, but anything else will suffer.

Suggest installing fresh copy of the OS and if that doesn’t solve it replacing the Hard drive itself. Could be other hardware parts. If you got a 2nd PC or spare parts you can swap in to test.

I suspect bufferzone is blocking the connection or maybe your firewall.

Try disabling them or running in cleanboot mode to test. (see Part 1.1 or 3.3)

High temps on the CPU/GPU or dying/faulty Power Supply Unit can attribute to this issue.

I’m assuming this bug never really got fixed because I too just lost all of my nicknames.

Because you can’t set categories or groups of friends, I’ve been using nicknames a way to make subsets of friends. All that is now gone and rather annoying once you already gotten accustomed to their nicknames.

So the consensus generally accepts the following

Top: Elementalist
Bottom: Warrior

If you’re having packet loss due to the ISP connection, and/or wifi issues, than its outside of the game’s control.

Those applications are multi-threaded and optimized to harness the potential of additional cores.

GW2 rely heavily on single thread processing power and INTEL excels in this category over AMD.

So bountiful theft is useful against guardian, any other professions?

I tend to steal Mace Head crack from the guardian and immediately use it he is low on HP. Dazes for 4seconds so he can’t heal or use skills.

I often steal for the sole purpose of opener, gap closer, CnD and the ability stolen. Bountiful theft is like a passive bonus I don’t actively keep aware of.

However, I wonder if there is a better opportune time to actively use it in order to mess up a player by removing critical boons. If so, against what profession and when?

Yes that cpu is a year old, but also a budget low end model equivalent to a high end CPU made 5yrs old. Not really designed for gaming, but great for everything else.

Highly doubt Anet will go into the hardware business and even more so with the razor thin margins on them these days. Even Dell, once a big shot, is now struggling. At best they would partner/endorse a manufacture’s system or build as GW2 playable etc.

Thats the nature of PC gaming. Entirely different than console gaming. If you don’t want to custom build, customer order, want to play WvW then all you gotta look at really is the CPU from whatever pre-built system at your local store. (See Part 2.3)

You didn’t list your exact cpu model, but judging from your 10fps its likely 4-5yrs old or more. Time to upgrade if you want heavy WvW action. Gotta pair a modern gpu with a modern cpu.

You didn’t list what model/generation the xeon is, but my guess is it is rather old/dated in comparison to today’s modern CPU. Because of that your likely cause of low FPS is due to CPU bottlenecking. (See Part 4.2 here for details[)

For gaming lower latency/pingtime is best. EVDO will be better. But you didn’t list what the ISP bandwidth cap is. Often wireless/mobile provider has very low caps. You will need a decent amount to be able to update the game on patch day etc.

• If you get a good group you work well with, ask them to continue on to paid tournament
• Save people you like as friends, over time you will have a long list of people to create parties.

I’ve haven’t ran into much PUG groups doing rank/qp checks. Its understandable for groups that do them because it’s a quick and dirty way to filter out people. It’s not perfect system, but not too far off from what happens when job recruiter sort out resume.

Generic glass canon thief skill rotation:

1. Pick a target
2. Basilisk
3. Cloak & Dagger
4. Quickly steal while CnD does it’s 1sec cast/animation
5. Position behind target if needed & backstab
6. Follow up with Heartseeker if target is low & not dead
7. If target is not low, auto attack a bit until reveal wears off and CnD again rinse repeat.

I use Fire and Force sigil when playing glass canon

What traits you pick depends on your play style and what is comfortable with.

Many guides online for thief builds and play styles. Don’t want to in-depth and reinvent the wheel so google/search around, tons of them available.

Windows OS let you set different volume for each application/game individually, is GW2 set too low there?

Free camera mode still works for me.

With it enabled you can run, rotate the camera view with left click and not have it auto adjust back after releasing the mouse drag.

At least with thief burst I have a split second to react and break free.

Pretty hard to watch a marble sized asura engi for the cast animation and avoid the magnet pull. Even worse when its mayhem with mesmer clones/fiels and etc flying around.

You can do both at the same time.

If you don’t want drama just ignore and don’t respond.

Would be interesting if they made it so that damage and knockback etc will vary slightly depending on size.

Char will be larger, easier to target, but can take little bit more hits and knockback a little bit less.

Asura will be tiny, harder to target, but get hit a bit harder and knockback more etc.

Even worse sometimes you pick a server and it takes 30seconds for it to respond it’s full.

I found it easier to click the refresh button a few times, wait for it to update, then choose server.

Yea weapon will be the quickest upgrade, but GW2 isn’t too gear depended as other MMO. You can slowly upgraded. If you want to save gold get RARE quality crafting gear. A full set will cost about 1.5Gold, from there you can work for exotic using dungeon tokens. If you can’t wait get the whole exotic crafting set for 5-6gold.

As for sPVP, it doesn’t matter. Everyone get the same options to gear collection. Even battlefield. The system is entirely different than PVE/WvW. Even a lv1 that just got the game can enter sPVP fully equiped.

The formula was done with filled assumptions of player gear as an example. A player can easily exceed those value. What you experience and get all depends on those values. In other words, your gear is different.

It’s all about your attack vs the target’s armor. It’s a sliding scale based on those values so each target is different. There are also things like vulnerabilities/might and other abilities like frenzy to think about.

Entirely true. Look at the formula. You can easily see Power is divided by Armor. Those are the two main things that varies. Mostly everything else is a static value.

tl;dr The example calculations was just to demonstrate how the OP could figure out what he/she is missing and what to do in order to achieve those values.

Damage done = (weapon damage) * Power * (skill-specific coefficient) / (target’s Armor)

Lets Assume the following:

• Dagger = 981
• Backstab coefficient = 2.405 (source)
• Trait coefficient = 1.15 (Deadly Art dagger training & Exposed Weakness)
• Crit coefficient = 2 (base is 1.5 for crits, but with gear/traits you can easily get another 0.5 or more)
• Target Armor = 1000 (naked or upscaled lowbie player)
• Power = 2000

10,852 = 981 * 2000 * (2.405 * 2 * 1.15) / 1000 (this is without consumable/sigil)

Now a decently geared player will have about 2000 or more armor, so you will likely not get 10k dmg and get closer to 5K ball park range. In WvW there are plenty of upscaled player with low armor values, so in those cases backstab can wreck havoc on them.

Although this post does remind me of good old Halo 3 days, Elites in Team BRs.. man that was annoying.

In a large groups you might need several tabs to get the target you want and those short period of time can be crucial. Sometimes its better to target with your mouse.
