People were complaining about new pvp gaming mode, this in a sense is a entirely new way of playing. Someone I was playing against said this is like super smash bros, but I see it as khylo + dragonball.

Match making is based off of hidden rating system unrelated to W/L ratio or ranks.

Because it is a hidden value, we can’t really see what kind of formula or system they are using. But new players such as those r8’s haven’t had the game time exposure for the system to weigh in their rating yet. (E.g those r8’s could be 2nd account holders or those terribad r40+ have really low rating below that of a fresh player.)

The autores of engi is the most op of the game, you can win 1v1 to engi but he have the auto res an go up, he recover his live with his curation, and this is equal if you fight with 2 engis.

Actually, toss Elixir R is not “auto” res. Takes decent timing to use it before going down. Even then you don’t res immediately, it ticks for 20% so there is time to knockout, poison, dps down.

I guess you would want ranger’s self res to be nerfed too then.

Anyone using Sound Blaster X-Fi MB2 and crashing in GW2?

It has been working fine the past 8 months. Yesterday’s patch (7/1/2013), seems to be causing issues with sound and game crashes.

Using -nosound command will play without crashing.

Took me forever to narrow it down. Reinstalled, delete local.dat, update drivers, check temps etc and what not only to boil down to sound issues.

Getting this error 5-6 times during tourney matches.

100 dyes that sell for 1 silver each isnt going to pay for a weeks worth of CA time.

If you open 100 dyes and only get 100 common dyes for 1silver each then something is wrong or you have terribad luck or RNG.

I make a batch of 25 dyes ever 2-3 days just from tourney chests alone.
(Tip: Salvage them while waiting for match to start)

Alternatively if you don’t tourney, buy the cheap 200glory chest.

On average:

• I get 2-3 rare dyes that usually sell for 25-40s each. If i’m lucky ill get one that sells for 6-12g and really lucky abyss for 20g
• 5-6 uncommon dyes that sell for 5-9s each
• the rest are common dyes for 1s each. I don’t bother selling these. I use them or gamble in the forge for higher tier.
• I have never had a batch of 25 straight common dyes. Never.

I bought a Custom Arena Starter’s Kit, and noticed the time ticks away regardless whether you’re making use of your “private server” or not.

Custom Arena’s are meant to practice, and test in PRIVATE; I should not have to pay for any second the game is not being used.

TL;DR – Paying whilst not using any bandwidth is ridiculous.

No different than renting a home/apartment, but only inside part of the day.

• Win/Lose Ratio, # Games played, and Glory rank are not used to calculate your leaderboard rating.
• Leaderboard Rank has a hidden rating value. You gain more rating if you beat something higher than you. You Lose more rating if you lose to someone lower.

Decay is definitely broken. i took a friend on a ride for some tpvp matches one night, got him 7 wins, next day he went solo and got 7 losses, got mad and stopped pvp. that was a month ago. he still happens to have a higher ranking than me even though i have 30x his wins and a better w/l ratio. this system just does not make sense and needs to be looked at.

The rating system does not account for # of wins or w/l ratio. You gain more rating by beating a team with higher rating. Conversely, you lose more rating if you lose to a lower rated team.

Each Win or Loss is weighted differently. You can beat a lower rated 5x and gain little rating each. However, if you so happen to lose once to that lower rated team all your gains can be wiped.

Just means someone ahead of you lost rating and you naturally moved up. Because anet doesn’t show you the actual rating, you could be very close to the next person.

I played tPVP a few times before and can come play.

I’m sure Anet wants to do many of those suggestions, but pretty sure they are constrained by resources. Their priorities are elsewhere probably in PVE/WvW realm.

The decay is working, just very slow. Look at the rank graph for the 13win/0lost player.

Anet hasnt showed us the actual rating values, so we cant see actually how fast its decaying, but maybe it should be accelerated over time the longer a player is inactive.

Very little use, despite that many people still use it as a metric of player contribution because its the only one that is given up front at the end.

Pretty much. You can have a score of ZERO, and still contribute to the match. (E.G you can bunk 2v1 3v1 at a node, never die or kill anyone or even cap, but the mere fact you are handling 3v1 means it ezier for the rest of the team to win their fights.)

Downstate is awesome. Makes the battles more interesting and teamwork more rewarding.

I can play Thief – Guard – Mes – Necro – Engi – Ele, all of which has over 300+ tourney wins for total of 2000+ wins. Whatever is needed for the team. Don’t PVE much any more just tPVP now.

Dropping target via stealth isn’t an issue in small fights. But, in large fights with all the special effects and etc flashing around, it is very advantageous especially if you are being focused.

Ways to counter are to have members of the team mark target if possible so others can just re-target faster.

If ever they provide XP in sPVP, people will then start demanding gold too. Because they can’t afford stuff for PVE/WvW by just doing sPVP

If they left because of no XP, then they didn’t really like sPVP to begin with.

I play Engi/Guard/Thief/Mes/Necro. Usually solo-q or play with whoever invites. Wouldn’t mind a core team.

Its better to be higher on the percentage. Once you pass 99% you get into the top1000 number list.

If you are 90% it means your rating is higher than 90% of the people playing.

1. Wall of Reflection is your friend against nade spams.
2. HGH engi are weak against CC, and focus
3. Don’t have to cleanse every condition you get immediately. Time it wisely.
4. Line of sight and use knockback/pull abilities

Both your CPU and GPU will suffer in GW2, but your GPU right now is more limiting. If you don’t have money to upgrade both, you can start with a better GPU for now.

GTX Titan is overkill for single monitor GW2, it won’t utilize it fully. Not to mention expensive, even if you have money to burn.

looks like the OP has issues with D/P thieves in 1v1 situations, which can be an annoying cookie to beat, but in team scenarios it is less of an issue. There are ways to counter.

I will keep it short;

1) Minimum rank requirement 30+.
2) Week PvP ban for leaving prematurely.
3) -2 Glory for every second you’re on a point, and not in combat with 2 or more people.
4) No Glory if you lose a game, double if you win.
5) Limited amount of classes in Solo Q – 4 Thiefs in the same team cause terrible randomize feature is pointless.

In general Anet wants to widen the pvp population through positive reinforcements/rewards, not negative punishments or setup barriers to entry. If you were GW2 head moncho and implemented all of your suggestion the backlash would be unimaginable and might just kill tPVP.

1. Better tPVP match making or bracketed ranks So you don’t get stuck with a R1 in a team of R40s. Something like 1-10, 11-30, 31-60 brackets.
2. Open world duel/challenge mode or at least inside HoTM. In other MMOs like WoW dueling around the mailbox area etc around towns was a social hub. Get to know people and fool around while waiting for stuff. ATM, people in HoTM just akitten stand idle around. Rather boring.
3. Better leaderboard tPVP is a team based not individual. A player that joins alot of groups and/or solo-q will have rating that fluctuate wildly. Have a leaderboard of team names would be better. Maybe there will be some real incentive to actually have a PVP guild, if its used as the name. Rating needs some rate of decay so you can’t play a few match, get rated, and never play again.

Play in fullscreen windowed mode

There is no “end-game” content in GW2.

Or you can think of it as everything is end-game. New players can immediately jump into sPVP/tPVP, its just another addition or aspect of the game.

Fully agree. Ranking up takes way too long and takes away all incentive to keep playing spvp. Everyone I know has also quit spvp, because it just takes too long for anyone who has other things to do than play games. In fact, many of those people have quit the game entirely because of how slow it is to rank up. And sadly, the game has nothing else going for it. Everything else in the game is even more repetitive than spvp and gives no rewards.

Play sPVP or tPVP for the fun and entertainment.

Think of ranking as a side mechanic. Playing solely to rank up its meh; sounds like mindless farming. Lets say they make max rank easier to obtain. Once there… then what?
