Without any major changes from patches for the last few months

We have went from OMG Necro OP → OMG Spirit Ranger OP → OMG Warrior OP.

At the moment warriors can just equip their passive regen signet and be unable to be killed. When a warrior is 4v1 and not dropping below 50% health and able to kill the other 4 players, it simply makes PVP unfun. Just had two games where it was impossible to kill any of the opposing team because it was all passive regen warriors.

Something is wrong with your team then if you’re losing 4v1.

Pretty much everything the OP said is true.

However. I noticed solo-q on EU is better than NA; faster Q times too. They communicate more and have better etiquette. Not saying there isn’t any 4v5 or leavers etc, but overall it is better probably due to a larger player base.

You can duo queue into “team arena”

Losing team shouldn’t receive Halloween rewards. That promotes less competitiveness and more afks.

People are asking for skins in PVP. Don’t have to give skin every match win, but maybe a small small chance to get a drop of something.

You won’t need to reset anything just make decay faster and permanent. Right now it just resets however little decay you have accrued after just 1 game.

Some that hasn’t played for weeks or even months shouldnt even be on the LB.

Population right now is too small to support multiple leagues.

If leaderboard actually works it would spur and encourage more people to play. Right now it promote not to play. Decay isn’t permanent. It resets the second you play 1 single game. Which is pointless as decay is already pretty slow.

Tl;dr doesn’t deter players, most don’t even know about it.

If you win your first few match starting off a fresh account, you will continue to win and have the advantage of getting the better team each time. As you move higher your chances of getting the better team increases more and more.

However, if you lose, you will be stuck in the forever pit of losing and dwell deeper and deeper. Not impossible to break out of this disadvantage, but its much harder. Suggest not re-queuing so fast after a loss because you will get the same team if they are bad, or sync queue with people of similar rating to help break out of the curse.

TL;DR system is flawed/broken.

You don’t lose anything. Guild can have both NA/EU players. You can even join party with them, but can’t queue for tourney or hotjoin with them.

I like the size of the node as they are.

• Reduce the range that a person can rally off someone. So you can’t rally half way the across the map.

• Put a hit timer. So you need to at least hit the person once every 20s to receive a rally.

Its best to play several profession and switch depending on the team composition before match starts. This will increase your chances of winning.

Seriously guardian rated over necromancer??? do you know how long it takes to kill them with my necro? 15~ seconds. and that is without losing any hp at all if they are bunker.

A support guardian won’t kill a necro, but thats not where they shine.

In team fights they provide so much support. They can hold points, ensure stomps, heal/cleanse/peel the group. The little things that addup, goes un-noticed, but when you don’t have a guardian its sorely missed. Not alot of people play guardian so to have one ready to go swap to is nice.

Should tell us how you are getting destroyed and by which profession. Maybe the problem is you aren’t sure what hit you to even begin to counter?

I suggest you get someone to 1v1 duel to practice and/or watch streams of people playing their war.

I like skyhammer cuz I find it entertaining watching people flip and rage because they haven’t adapted to the map or actually refuse to in solo-q. They should add it back to Team arena!

I like Khylo cuz treb hits are so satisfying. Look at the #’s flying.

TL;DR version of OP’s thesis- Leaderboard decay is not permanent and resets when a game is played which makes decay pointless. [Dev response link]

If decay was actually permanent and accelerates proportionately to inactivity duration then the rating system algorithm would be fine as it is.

I play on both NA and EU now. During prime time EU queues are much faster than NA for both solo and team. Usually a few minutes or instant pop. On NA I was plagued with 4v5 match or rage quitters. EU has a lot of less of that nonsense, but it still happens.

WTB thief stability. The map is completely imbalanced across classes.

You can steal stability. You can port back after being fear/knocked off. You can blind/stealth/scorpion-wire. Thieves are one of the most annoying if played correctly to knock off for a kill.

Gives us the template system that has been mentioned by the devs to be in the works for months now. That will help with skyhammer. Some people are unwilling to make a specific build/character just for one map and swap to it.

Conquest is all about strategy, teamwork, coordination and synergy. Its not dirty fighting.

This is not something Hotjoin/Solo-Q will educate players properly on and results in frustration like the OP’s.

From a design perspective, and I’m not a designer so take this with a grain of salt, we want to encourage players to keep playing. If a player has to leave for a while, for whatever reason, we don’t want them to feel punished when they come back.

Decay needs to be “permanent” to encourage people to play. The way it is right now just encourages sitting and not playing. Only time they might want to play 1 game is to counter all the little decay that did happen.

Decay should start off small and accelerate the longer they are inactive.

Actually, not making it permanent will distort other player’s matching. If the leaderboard is filled with inactive players or multiple account holders it makes it harder to match. You get people who are in the top 200 complaining about being matched with low ranked team-mates because all those inactive in the top200 isn’t really playing.

Those decay players can easily climb the ladder again in a short period, its no different than them getting a new account. If you actually encourage playing via feasible decay, their rating would actually be in sync to their skill and match making more accurate.

They probably did increase the decay in some form, but it’s affect on top 1000 players are negligible because the hidden rating spread is much wider than for players in the percentiles. Maybe the decay is working, but the formula used to calculate rating is flawed.

I think its time for more transparency and unhide the hidden rating values. The original excuse was because the devs wanted to let the leaderboard stabilize first while they make adjustments, but its been months now.

If all fails, always keg brawl.

Ok so I play WvW mostly but love to SPVP sometimes too. I often think it is very unfair though that SPVP does not reward players with gold. Why should WvW players get gold and SPVP players none? SPVP players need gold too… Even if it is only 1s per victory. Why should every other game area give gold apart from SPVP? Many SPVP players do other content so why should they be penalised fanatically when they SPVP? Some players only SPVP and how is it fair that they can never get any gold?

My suggestion is to keep this thread bumped until anet does something about this ridiculous issue that has been in game since release or at least acknowledges it…

You still need in gold in WvW to craft/buy gear. In sPVP its all free. The only need to have gold is to buy gems for custom arena, but even that isn’t a necessity. It will be nice to have extra gold to buy toys/skins though.

You would think this can easily be solved by increasing just a variable, but who knows maybe it is rocket science and requires a whole team.

When the population increase you still be stuck playing with people in the lower rating since alot of the people in the top 200 are just sitting on their position not playing many or any games.

Hey Anet can we get some new code/algorithm written for pvp to make it so we dont have to wait 22 minutes for team Q or 30 minutes for SoloQ?

GW2 pvp isnt competitive unless you set up your own skrim so why cant they do this?

MMR Code/Algorithm won’t fix your Queue time woes caused by population issues, or you could just play during prime time.

However, Good game design decisions can, and could encourage a bigger PVP player base, but who knows if that’s possible since their focus 95% PVE.

i prefer to wait 10 minutes longer or not to play over getting matched with Players which are very bad , so fix your broken Matchmaking System.

You being matched like that is because of population issue. No system can fix or match up better if the player base isn’t there.

Your options are:

1. Don’t soloq
2. Find friends with simliar rating to sync queue
3. Queue during prime time when more people are playing
4. Just play, have fun, ignore rating.
