In addition, I think giving the option to 1 team to resign if they are more than 200 points behind is completely reasonable.

Been in many matches where the game difference was more than 200, and a comeback win was achieved.

I rather not encourage the community that mentality to throw in the towel prematurely. Soon it will be “oh, we wiped on our first initial team fight, guess its a loss”. Also rather not have people start voting mid match lowering the team morale.

That’s why I suggest only having a resign option if you are down by more than 200 points (and are going to be at a huge disadvantage for the rest of the match).

I think it is clear that more blowout matches which are aborted early = more time for people to requeue and play good matches, meaning shorter queue times and a better overall experience.

I disagree. Fostering that kind of mentality will just make it less fun in the long run. Soon people will purposely do nothing, waiting to initiate a resign vote after they lose the first team fight and feel discouraged.

The dynamic and thrill of coming back from a deficit is very rewarding. Being down 200 is still winnable especially early in the game. I see it in soloq a fair number of times. Those were the more memorable matches. Ending it early wouldn’t change the quality if the matches. Just more of it.

I rather have it give a bonus reward if you win from a deficit of 200+ than allow premature resignation allowing people to further demoralize the team by starting a vote.

For more context, I’m interested in improving matches beyond just finding players near your MMR. This includes doing things like preferring a better spread of professions and builds, matching people with dishonor with other people with dishonor, grouping people by rank or play style, etc…

These things can sound like a good idea, but can also cause you to wait in the queue longer. I want to know much longer than typical MMR pairing you’d be willing to wait. We can compensate for that wait by doing things like shutting off extra filters if you’ve been waiting, or adjusting the scoring weight by wait time.

If you can do pixy dust magic to have balance spread of profession, build, play-style, rank, dishonor etc and keep it with in 5-10minute or less then YES! DO IT. (looking at the poll results seems 5-10min is the sweet spot)

But, from the playerbase now, pretty sure the wait will be much much longer than 5-10minute. Probably fall asleep forgetting I queued. (nooo dont give me afk dishonor…)

Not sure how you will balance professions since people can switch their character/build around before match. I often switch to different profession depending on the map and current team composition.

How will you categorize or even record people’s play-style?

You can play tournaments instead of hotjoin and not get swapped. That or custom server.

Sounds like you have an unstable machine, software issues or even hardware that is slowly dying. Without errorcodes/systemspec/crashlogs not much more people can advise on but check your system.

I play on both NA and EU. EU queue is a bit faster than NA. However, I am already waiting 5+ minutes for a match now. During offpeak or non-prime hours it will be 10-20min wait or longer.

The higher up on the leaderboard you are the more likely you will sit this long for a match. The system seems to try it’s best to find a matchup but eventually gives up and gives you much lower ranked players after a set amount of time or whatever people are available.

I’ve watch twitch stream of people queuing and see them getting into matches before I do even though I queued before them while watching their previous match.

Don’t think you can improve the wait time unless leaderboard is fixed. The top 1000 is filled with inactive players or people just sitting on their positions with occasional games to reset any decay.

3-5min during peak time. EU tends to have faster Queues than NA.

10+min during off-hours. Longest i’ve had was 50minute

Sounds like a L2P issue.

Don’t get your hopes up too high.

They can improve the match making system, but the low population issue will still create uneven teams.

I suggest you practice in 5v5 hotjoin, those 8v8 are too zergy to learn. You can move to soloq once you feel comfortable with your own profession and know how to combat against other professions.

While you can abuse the system and sync queue its not entirely always the case.

The system group people of similar MMR first before match against another group. So highly rated players tend to get bundled up together a lot and when there isn’t anyone to match up against they get a group of lowbie rated players after waiting in queue for several minutes.

tPVP rewards chest, where free/paid tourney token is obtained from, was temporarily replaced with trick-or-treat bags for the Halloween event.

like when in wvw my fps drop, and i have a fast pc but my 39fps average in wvw dropped too like 16. gpu and cpu didnt seem to be fully utilized. If you want a better router, replace the firmware with dd-wrt or tomato.

That said, its most likely your computer being bottlenecked in WvW especially during large zerg. See Part 4.3 – 4.13 to understand why.

If you usually play a DPS profession that kills alot and roam then you are probably getting less.

If you are a bunker/point-defender then you likely getting more.

I would definitely like to see this done, but it requires some back-end server work. If I could only clone myself.

Roughly translated in laymans term: likely not gonna happen any time soon or distant future.

Those suggestion seems rather complicated if you think of the cascading implications it will cause.

I have this feeling last 2-3 week. Like, when I started to play PvP I was better, and now at level 20 I have the feeling I don’t improve, but the opposite.

I’m a guardian. When I started to PvP I was fighting without checking even the profession of the opponent. I was face-rolling my keyboard, clicking the skill immediately when it’s ready and somehow was winning most of my fights.

Then I decided to improve, started to read about builds, tactics, weapons, started to watch streams. Started to think more. And guess what? Started to lose.

Before I was winning more of my fights 1v1. Now I sometimes get downed before I can check the profession of the player attacking me and what exactly he uses.
Before I was always one of the top players of the team. Now it rarely happens, sometimes I’m last.

Why I posting this?
First: Can anybody tell me why? What I’m doing wrong? It takes me too much time to check what attacking me and to decide what to use. And my HP melting like a snowball on the sun in the meantime.
Second: give me some hope, do you think if I keep trying I’ll get used to it and finally will start to improve? Or better to go back to my face-rolling, random-dodging style?
And third: Please tell me I’m not the only one who feels like this at some point. It will make me feel better. Well tell it if it’s true of course

And the most funny is, although I become worse and worse, my leaderboard rating somehow went 20% higher for last 10 games. Now I meet better opponents and this makes things even worse.

Simple solution: go back to button smashing cuz it worked for you.

^^ Is slightly wrong. MMR has nothing to do with Win% or W/L Ratio or in-game rank.

Its based on your ranking on the leaderboard which is separate system to in-game rank. Your rating is a hidden value. How much you gain/lose depends on the difference in rating of your opponent. However, GW2 uses a system that tends to stack teams often the matches are lopsided espeically when the pool of people to match-make is very low.

What is deemed acceptable is defined by the community that evolves the current “meta”. This changes over time as people discover more effective ways of doing things. Certain builds and/or profession will come in and go out of flavor.

To keep up with the meta you can either

• read the forums/twitch-streamers
• look at recent tournaments teams
• experiment and experience through lots of team arena/scrim

Templates are in the works. But dev said so months….. ago. Who knows when it will be out.

Workaround: buy more character slots.

And I’m sick of it….I don’t know where this cowardly mentality comes from, but it’s a huge disappointment in a game that would otherwise be the best mmo on the market. WvW has been sucking for a long time since I prefer to roam alone, and apparently no one else does, anywhere. I tried SPvP for a couple weeks now, and it sucks, if only for the cowards that play it, not that you won’t find them in all other parts of the game. Just sucks that people like that have to ruin the game for others because they try to make up for their lack of “skill/intelligence” by grouping up. This game has arguably the best combat system of any game, ever, and it’s near impossible to enjoy it when there’s no one out there who will fight you without a numbers advantage.

Before anyone says it, I shouldn’t have to join a private match just to avoid people like this, that way of thinking is a huge part of the problem.

Then do some Solo or Team Arena instead of hotjoins.

Actually, the best way is just to stop doing any soloq. Once anet notice how dire the population has shrunk they might increase resources to fixing stuff faster.

They are just OP. How do you even beat them 1v1? I run a spirit ranger and it’s just impossible to beat this petting zoo build. All they do is just stand there and let their minions deplete your hp and you can’t do anything about it.

I gave up. I decided not to deal with them 1v1. It’s frustrating and degrading.. How can 1 class be that OP? Warriors are even more manageable 1v1.

Nerfbat is the only solution that I can think of.

How would you guys feel about the removal of conditions from the game. I think removing conditions and adding some boons to replace some of them would increase many aspects of the game including pve. I do see the necessity for the current condition system atm. because it’s the optimal way of taking out bunkers, condition damage ignoring armor, but what i propose is that condition damage would be the same as normal damage.
You could spec for condi damage the same way you do now but it wouldn’t apply the condition it would just deal the damage directly, not dot. This way condition cap wouldn’t be a problem in pve anymore, taking out bunkers is the same for a condition build, and the condition removal skills can be turned into buffing skills which would improve the support game style in the game.
I know this means major work on Anet’s part but i think it would improve the overall quality of the game.
Leave your opinion on this matter with an argument be it pro or against it.

You would have to rework every single profession and their skill/traits. A lot of work and a lot of stuff that Anet can mess up.

We have went from OMG Necro OP -> OMG Spirit Ranger OP -> OMG Warrior OP.

And OMG ELE OP before that. Maybe mesmer too at one point.

I remember some point where HGH engi was considered op, too.
Now looking bad… I think hgh engi wasn´t so bad after all :P

Well the cycle from necro -> ranger -> warrior all happend without big nerfs, it was the community figuring things out and creating the new meta. Anet will use this reasoning as to why they don’t want to kneejerk nerf things. I prefer anet going the slow shaving approach which they sorta did. Necro got scepter1 & dhuum fire shaved, ranger got their spirits timer adjusted and healing spring shortened, and warriors got their sigil bug fixed.

Its hotjoin. You join whenever and leave.

Do tPVP if you don’t want auto-bal =] (however not with its own problems)
