God.. people are forgetting the main topic… The most used class on PvE…
It’s Warrior. Whatever the reason, they may not have the highest dps, they may not have the highest HP, they are the easiest and most forgiving class to use..
Then what’s the point of being a commander once this is implemented?
It’s needed on PvE, it’s needed on WvWvW – so people can see where to rally/go.
nooooo… my toons are all humans so…
I personally don’t like capes.. too basic and too super-heroish for my taste…
Boss skips, however, are something that should be dealt with. Very few bosses are skippable, but the ones that are (Kholer [AC], Hunting Hound [CM P2], Bridge event [COF P1], Jaddeor Icefist [HOTW P2] just to name a few) shouldn’t be. I’d even argue that some Champions in dungeons (such as the Champion Dredge on the SE P1 Bridge, or the Icebrood Wolf at the start of COE) should be bosses and therefore mandatory.
If they wanted to force you to do bosses they can just have a door refuse to open if you haven’t done so.
By the way, it has officially been stated that Kholer is optional. Just like the troll in the same dungeon.
I know that some bosses are meant to be optional, but they shouldn’t be optional – why have them otherwise? It’s a boss, deliberate mechanics designed just for that fight and they get skipped.
For people who wanted additional loot?
Go post: LFG <Dungeon Path> No stacking/skipping.
In all seriousness, it’s all about trying to decrease the length of the run. Stacking makes it a lot easier to kill bosses. Makes PuGs do little mistake if they all listen and follow exactly on the strategy.
Why run it at 20mins when you can do it at 7?
Because they’re more interested in the journey then the goal. For instance I took my GF on the Butcher path in HotWs, and she was very disappointed by how short it was. (Luckly for her there’s Fractals) It’s pretty much some people play for the carrot on the stick and other play the game to play the game.
As for the LFG comment, it’s getting harder to find people that would go for that.
Exactly. And people “stacking” is more interested in time vs reward – so why take that away from them?
And for the lfg comment, seems like more people are interested in time vs reward rather than the journey – reality sucks, but that’s the way it is.
I mean, people who like the “journey” can group together as what people who like the “time vs reward” – it’s not each other’s problem if the other cannot find more people…

If a path is indicated, how the kitten can “exp” become “exploration”?
And yes, reading seems to be kitten 90% of players using the LFG tool.
because a few silver/karma reward isn’t interesting. Plus there’s really nothing fun or unique to do on low level maps. Plus if people want karma, QD train will do. If people want money, TP flip/FG train will do.
Yep, you can even bring a level 2 character to Arah just to leech, but getting there is an entirely different problem.
You’ll be more than level 2 when you get there I think…
1) Yes (assuming that is the temp file).
2) Yes.
3) Not sure how but I believe it is already set that way.
4) The only possible overlay I have is a GW2 skin on Mumble. Mumble does sometimes cause odd bugs with my ability to type in chat. However I haven’t used Mumble very much the past few days.
5) My shortcut has the usual target.
6) I have no idea what that is and won’t blindly do it without knowing what it’s supposed to do.
7) My Adobe Flash gets updated every time it asks me.
8) No proxy is used.
9) I just tried that and the only effect I noted was that my Windowed Fullscreen got altered and had to be reset so I could mouse over to the other monitor.Thank you for the list of ideas! I have had Support reply and just sent them full details of the evolution of the issue. I’m crossing my fingers they will know what I should do. Meanwhile, what is the clientport thing and how do I check if I’m Admin for the game?
Run as admin:
Go to GW2 folder, right click on GW2.exe – run as admin
Make perma admin:
Go to GW2 folder, right click on GW2.exe – Properties – Compatability – Privilege Level – tick the box that says Run this program as administrator.
On the other side – do you run Norton Antivirus?
Look at the boots I will never have.
lol
Disclaimer: I am not ranting. I’m just lazy to do a meme..
Warrior: Double-bladed sword
Necromancer: Wand, Spellbooks
Elementalist: Orbs (no, this is separate from Focus), Wands, Spellbooks
Mesmer: not sure lol. Orbs too?
Guardian: Crossbow
Thief: Katar/Jur
Ranger: Crossbow
Engineer: Rocket Launcher, Machine/Gatling Gun
I always fancy HotW pants, T3 human Cultural boots assuming you are human, and probably Vigil chest…
System Restore to a point when it was working fine…
No, because I’m cheap.
I mean, $10 can buy me my breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner for 1 day when converted to my currency.. And that is with a few left for savings…
Where do they get this ideas? lol
I never saw anyone suggested this – yet suggestions like item filtering on TP and the history of your completed dungeon paths is yet to be acknowledged…
Anet, what the kitten man? lol
(I actually typed “kitten”.. XD )
Yet another simple, basic feature missing from GW2..
Please stop the champ trains. I want to kill whenever whatever.
Translation:
Stop what you are doing so I could do what I want to do.
-This game doesn’t have any objective
—I agree!
I personally find the helm cool. But I wish those helms don’t make the toon’s head look bald… :|
I mean, come on..
kitten , I thought there’s a new patch.. lol
I’d take the one with the better communicational abilities. And if both understand english, I take the one with the more fashionable armor.
So you interview people for some time before getting inside?
Yes.
Oooookay….
Sample questions? Do they need to send their resume too?
Since when bow is a trademark of rangers?
Unfortunately rangers read this description and just go with…..
“Ranger
Rangers rely on a keen eye, a steady hand, and the power of nature itself. Unparalleled archers, rangers are capable of bringing down foes from a distance with their bows. With traps, nature spirits, and a stable of loyal pets at their command, rangers can adapt to any situation."
“rangers can adapt to any situation”
Aside from the speedrun meta. Maybe 0.5% can.
“With traps, nature spirits, and a stable of loyal pets at their command, rangers can adapt to any situation.”
We’re supposed to use “traps”, “spirits” and “pets” to help us adapt – all are broke. lol
Except maybe for Frost… but still…
My opinion below is biased and is personal…
I don’t like mounts for this game. They look ugly, no matter what design. I like Starwars and even if they do a mount like whatever the Storm Trooper rides on Endor or some Pod Racer, I would still say no.
For “futuristic” themed game – maybe. But here? nah.
Did you join a group that says “Warrior/Guard only”?
I kicked several people earlier without warning because they could not read party description…
Sometimes it could be a useful indicator, I got stuck with Dungeon Master title at Aetherblade path / TA . Noobs were coming in all directions, with their aetherblade keys and no knowledge of game mechanincs, after 6 split up groups, I got fed up. Posted 4k AP+ only and managed to beat the Aetherblade path smoothly.
Most of the group were between 4 and 8 k , that is the best indicator we got so far at a glance.
Altough, I’ve played with 10k+ groups in fractals, but they very often blow, don’t know where to stack / what and when to do etc.
It would be great to have something like a dungeon lvl/rating .
This could be true.
People with so much AP means they participate in events – could probably mean they have less time to do dungeons.
People with “average” AP tend to do only what they wanted – could probably mean they do dungeons every now and then.
People with “low” AP could mean they have no interest in world events OR they are total noob/newbies.
I’d take the one with the better communicational abilities. And if both understand english, I take the one with the more fashionable armor.

Wikipedia: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/The_Underworld
Youtube(Final boss Dhuum): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBlWtvwe7noThe Underworld was elite/hardcore 8 player instance in original Guild Wars.
It required a small fee to enter and was extremely punishing – it had no “way points” and if a single NPC died, your whole party was kicked out of the instance without receiving any loot or reward.
Players had to do certain difficult tasks before they could access the final boss Dhuum.
There were no diminishing returns and rewards were worth the effort and time spent.
A run for skilled players usually took around 30-50 minutes, while “pug” groups anywhere from 2 to 3 and more hours.
Needless to add, this was the most played instance/mission/content in original game. So, the question is, why can’t we have a similar content in Guild Wars 2?
A content that’s entirely skill based and where failure/death is not allowed?
Because no one would run it. lol
Unless the reward is exponentially better than normal dungeons, or until they could get similar or better loot in faceroll content, no one would run it.
Best example is Teq. Only organized people (and some kitten afk’ers) run it…
I never have used it as a filter but here’s my take…
It’s not an accurate, but assuming you don’t know both people, who would you rather take, assuming they both pass your gear, trait and class check – a person with 800ap or with 15k ap?
If you want to implement this – improve the LFG tool first. There are waaaay more people not reading lfg description that’s being kicked than people getting scammed.
Say, before creating a group, you get some options – you put a check. Any people who is not qualified cannot join and if they switches armor/weapon (by stats ie:zerk, not type ie: GS) while in the group, they get insta-kicked without penalty to the owner.

I don’t lag in-game and I live in a second/third world where 3mpbs is considered very fast. 1mbps is considered the average.
I’m on South East Asia connecting to NA servers in-game.
30 seconds (or less, like 15sec) should be enough. I agree to this post.
queensdale is empty most of the time because the trains make it so, remove them and you see it fill up with the players that are suppose to be there.
Any evidence about this?
Queensdale is always empty (along with other starters). The train is actually the one making it “populated”.
I have learned to ignore rudeness by people like that since the beginning of time. lol
To prevent you from progressing? There’s an event going on (for Balth I think). You can destroy it once the event NPC is near.
I’m fine with daylight.
Nighttime is a different opinion though. It should be a lot darker. They could place some torches around as a source of natural light, but not close to each other. Something like, Skyrim…
But this will result in a lot of work – I am not sure how clean the codes of GW2 are to handle this changes.
ArenaNet should rework all the zerg world bosses and make them into organized raid encounters instead. Just look at Karka Queen and The Shatterer. That’s 100% zerg and a lag fest. It’s not fun.
These two new bosses are really fun, especially Twisted Marionette. Wurm is very hard but also fun when you have enough people to do it.
TL;DR: Rework zerg lagfest world bosses.
TLDR: make content I like, and take content that other people like away from them. The hardcore players matter more than the casuals.
Bolded for truth.
I don’t lag at world bosses. Turn down your graphics settings because I have mine turned all the way up and don’t drop below 30fps.
Teq is an empty waste land of undead fish heads and that is it on Crystal Desert. 99.99% of the time no one is there until someone stops in to see if there just happens to be a group trying to fail.
So, Zoid….
Teq was poorly planned/implemented. They increased difficulty without increasing the incentive to run it.
Apparently, fun and challenge wasn’t enough anymore.
I’d say rework dragon lieutenants in a fashion similar to Teq and Wurms. Rest should stay more or less casual, in ideal like Marionette, but at least something like fire ele or golem, not completely brain dead like modnir or frozen maw. This way, i think, we will have plenty of content for every kind of player in the game.
I agree. But scale down the reward. sample: No rare items above level 65 should be dropped by those “easy” bosses.
If they rework existing stuff to make it harder, no one will do it. Or less people will do it.
Look at Teq. Before, swarms of people do it, after the rework – only organized people do it.
Why? Because Reward doesn’t match the effort required to get it. You’ll stress yourself to get blues/greens and a yellow.
People will just continue to farm champs. They would probably earn more in that duration of the fight.
What ANet should’ve done is to put unique drops to those bosses AFTER reworking them. Something obtainable only from certain bosses. And it’s a required drop – like a required recipe to Ascended/Legendary.
Don’t get me wrong, I would love to see a rework. Fighting Shatterer/SB/Claw doesn’t feel like you’re fighting a lieutenant. It’s like fighting a dummy that strikes back.
It would be awesome. But that’s just how I feel.
What will happen to Cultural armors purchased and worn?
Be careful next time – if there is a next time getting a precursor.
The problem was that the other builds weren’t good enough, nerfing crit dmg just makes that one build worse, the others are still useless. Now it’s only going to take even longer to kill all those meat shield enemies that pose 0 threat and have millions of hp
This.
I mean, condition still sucks, heals/tanks are still useless, so what do we have? A build that does less damage for no reason.
I mean, I’m ok with the change provided they give us incentive to actually want the other builds. This statement comes from a player who uses zerk/scholars.
Or they could have held until they can release a major patch.
The way I see it, ANet wanted a quick fix to a problem.
Mostly what the topic says. Since you can’t post in archived subforums I post it here.
Appearence is everything in this game. Weapons and Back Pieces are what often stand out on a character, I want to be able to see these things on character select screen!
As long as they give me an option to turn everyone’s back pieces off so I don’t have to deal with Joe Wingman flapping in my face all the time. Seriously been waiting for that option for a long time.
I do think weapons should at least be visible at character select anyway.
Don’t think they will do that simply because the game is about skins. lol
People got them to “show” them off..
Oh and dungeons here have specific drops – meaning say Item A only drops on Dungeon A, and item A is needed to upgrade/craft certain item – which encourages players to actually run the dungeon – not just specific dungeons.
GW2 has exclusive dungeon gear, weapons and armor that you can only get by running that particular dungeon. So. Yeah.
As a bonus, it’s not some absurd RNG drop. Enough tokens gets you what you want free and clear.
As you may have noticed, those are “minor” impacts, but it builds over time – thus creating an environment where players would actually want to participate to gain advantage over others. They are actually encouraged to participate. Note: Encouraged, not required.
Nothing in this game “requires” you to do anything. Nothing in this game will give you a clear advantage over another player that they can’t also reasonably work for.
One of the reasons I like GW2 so much is because of this. In my opinion, that kind of thing in traditional MMOs is really stupid.
From the sound of it, you must hate this game because it runs counter to that standard.
I mean there’s legendaries and ascended gear, but that’s the last tier of the time sink in this game and even these aren’t WoW or RO level in time needed.
Maybe you want more of a traditional MMO where you can work to be a degree better than the average player based on the time you put in.
You know what though? That’s okay. People have different tastes and likes. GW2 is an MMO that caters to a starved audience that wants something a little more accessible.
If you want to be able to put in lots of time to be objectively superior stat wise and gear wise to someone else who can’t play as often as you might be able to…
That’s okay. There is an endless stream of these kinds of MMOs for you to try out. But GW2 won’t be that kind of MMO.
Problem with dungeon gear is – the stats are present to other gears. Exact stats. Unless you’re in it for the skin, one can simply buy + transmute – no incentive to run dungeons at all.
And I don’t hate the game – I play almost everyday in a span of few hours. It’s just parts of the game felt really pointless at times. It’s like I don’t find the motivation to do WvWvW – simply because, what’s in it for me? my team? and my server? The moment I get out of WvWvW area, all efforts are left there. No impact on the bigger world.
1740 started since launch.
Had many occasions of AFK on LA too. lol
Run dungeons – for what purpose?
Farm gold – for what purpose?
Champ trains – lol
WvW – for what purpose?
PvP – for what purpose? This is exactly how I feel after playing for around an hour.
I mean, I like the game, but there seem to be no purpose. No synergy between those said above.
I mean, yeah, we killed the champ. We got loot. What impact does it have on the world? none.
Yeah! Server is tier 1 on WvWvW! And? Oh we brag blah blah…
What have other games done that make you feel like you have changed the world that they created?
Is there anything that actually can be done without changing the world for people that come after you.
For one, I played Ragnarok Online. We have this thing called “War of the Emperium” where your guild does a siege on a castle controlled by another guild (or guild alliance…) and this happens 1x a day for an hour. Once the time ends, whoever is occupying the castle owns it. Overnight, it has a chance to generate items needed to craft Legendary items or release items that are rare in nature (as in few players owns the items). And mind you, Legendary items here are truly Legendary. Not more than 10% of the people have them. And they have legendary backgrounds (Mjolnir, Sleipneir, Megingard….)
Another is Cabal Online – where we have this thing called “Mission War” – the more kills you have, the more “War Exp” you gain – your rank determines your reward. It happens 6x a day in a 3 hour interval. Your War Exp can also be traded for items/exp/skill points – items which would randomly generate an “Upgrade Core” which could be used to enhance items. There are 4 types of those cores, each catering to a specific item tier. You also gain a “Title” upon reaching specific War Exp – which gives you minor but noticable bonuses – such as + 500 HP, +10% resist critical hit, +30% resist critical damage – very helpful on PvP and dungeon runs.
If you are consistently on the top for 1 week, you also gain the chance to become a “Bringer” – a commander equivalent – with added bonus stat points, effects and shout – which everyone across the world can read. It’s usually used inside the Mission War for “commanding”
Oh and dungeons here have specific drops – meaning say Item A only drops on Dungeon A, and item A is needed to upgrade/craft certain item – which encourages players to actually run the dungeon – not just specific dungeons.
Another game – Rising Force Online – I’ve not played this long, but there are 3 factions which competes for a specific area on where players could “mine” resources to upgrade their gear.
As you may have noticed, those are “minor” impacts, but it builds over time – thus creating an environment where players would actually want to participate to gain advantage over others. They are actually encouraged to participate. Note: Encouraged, not required.
