i am not really complaining. i am just bored and this download bar is staring me in the face.

You aren’t the only one. I was sitting with a 50kbps download speed. I had to download 2gb worth of patch overnight+work time.

It’s annoying but understandable – nah you get the feeling.

I have a crit build and is using shouts for support.

0/10/30/30/0 but the crit chance is only 36% but it works fine for me. Still, planning to use 0/20/20/30 instead while running crit build and lose the Altruistic Heal.

I’m not full support (yet – I don’t think there really is a “full” support build) but you could try 0/0/30/30/10 or 0/0/30/20/20 build. You will get tons of defense, tons of HP (well, still low HP pool, but yeah), and boons last longer.

For the gears, I would still recommend Pow/Tough/Vit gears since you will still need to do some damage – unless there is Tough/Vit/Healing something gears out there. :p

This build tanks a lot, buffs a lot (using shouts) and does some healing (Altruistic Heal trait).

It’s kinda in-theory yet but I am shifting to that build.

I wish Guardians have “Taunt” ability, so that mobs would aggro us instead of teammates.

I actually like the channeling animation on my human female guardian. It might be that she leans a bit too far back, but you actually get the impression that they’re channeling potent magics. I seem to recall that the male asuran dance is a bit like pole dancing though.

Human FemGuardian’s empower animation is good, but it kinda reminds me of exorcist… She leans too far back.

I use Beryl for Accessories and Rings, my Amulet is still a mess, but I’m planning to take the one that has Prec/Pow/Crit Damage.

I use Emerald Orb x6 on armor slots.

Also, yes, I use the trait that adds 5% prec from toughness.

I currently have 38% crit chance but I have Sigil of Accuracy. I am planning to use 0/5/30/30/5 build and remove the Sigil of Accuracy but I believe it’ll downsize my crit chance by 25-30, which is very bad.

Hello all.

I’m getting interested in the build but I noticed that most are using 0/5/30/30/5 traits. If I may ask, how much Precision do you have to get atleast 45% Critical Chance?

I have a GS crit build, 0/10/30/30/0, my Precision only falls 1600 despite having a Knights set and my rate is just 38% (even though I have Sigil of Accuracy on my GS, which supposedly adds 5% Crit chance)

I might be missing on something or might have skipped a huge bunch when I tried to scan this thread.

Exatly same problem when doing an event that has tons of us there (Jormag, Arah in particular)

Solution would be to exit the client and re-log back in. I missed a chest once because of that.

Others:

I remember the first time I’ve seen the Claw of Jormag event. Very breathtaking. Many players are participating.

The first time I explored Divinity’s Reach as well. Wow. I remembered “so, no one chooses Asura, Charr, Norn and Sylvari?” because I thought it’s the starting city for all races. lol

You’re angry because every Guardian is using GS and is using the same skill as you?
Ever thought that it might be the “best” build on the current location? Why would others use Hammer/Sword/Scepter/Mace/Shield/Focus if they enjoy GS as well?

If you would like to be unique, you must be the one to change, not others change for you. It’s not their fault for liking to play Guardian and choosing weapons that you use.

Innovate on a new build that suits your play style without using GS/Staff.

I really don’t get the post.

I use GS/Staff in both Dungeons and PVE, and I’m ok with it.

Build is:

0/20/20/30/0

Kinda bad for crit build (only 44% crit chance), but yeah, I do survive dungeons.

Utility is mostly shouts.

Am I the only one who still uses (and loves) GS?

I find it boring at times, yes, but it’s just me in any MMO. Repetitive use of toon and it’s skills bores me at times.

Still, I like it. I just change character when I’m sickly bored spinning and jumping and hearing “weep – weep – weep” when my FemGuardian swings her GS -_- I hate that voice.

Interested Activities: Chat to laugh, PVE, Dungeon (Esp AC and CoF), WvWvW

Active: Everyday after work (my foot is injured, can’t go to the freakin’ gym) from 4pm to 9pm (+8UTC, Taipei. I’m on South East Asia)

Additional Comments: I am a chatty person. I am noisy as long as I’m not kiting anything.

May I ask, what is your play style? Do you go all out offensive or the thinking “kill before getting killed” or do you like to take your time, pull mobs and show them your defense?

Maybe Guardian doesn’t suit your play style?

We ran AC yesterday and I was the one always aggro’d. Not that I hate it, but it’s annoying to use heal early on fights. lol

But it feels I’m saving the group. :p

I only have a Guardian and I suck at WvWvW, but that’s just me. Still, I find it fun to play and challenging in WvWvW.

Go for Guardian. Note that that advice is biased. lol

I created 3 Warriors already (create, then deleted then created again and deleted again…), highest being level 10ish – I think it’s not just my play style.

In SoD I’d definitely go for removal. The invasion events are actually really fun. Also once you progress into Malchor’s Leap you can’t travel back through the gate to get to SoD. Otherwise, I think the rest of the game is fine, though personally, I’d prefer a reduction.

I can agree a little on SoD. It’s a ghost town there now (or rather bot town). Still, I’m lazy to walk around getting pulled, pushed, nagged, nibbed by undead now and then.

What are you suggesting then? Removal, reduction, etc?

Waypoints are fine for me. I don’t want to travel from Frozen lands to land of the undead by walking. lol

I am planning to do a Crit Guardian build, but I am lacking in crit chance. I have 1800+ Precision but still 44% crit chance. Any advice on how to get it up atleast 50% or 60%?

Knights for Armors, Berserkers for trinkets (The one that adds crit damage power and prec I believe)

I have a 5% increase in crit chance on GS.

Level 40ish, with 50silvers. Yep, 50 silvers. I have 1 gold, but I bought the Manual for my Guardian, accidentally – thinking it costs only 1 silver. lol

Anyways, are there specific areas in game to farm gold? I mean, I don’t need fast gold – just consistent income for my travels.

How do you “farm gold” here? Do you play with the Trading Post? Do you sell ALL LOOTS to NPCs? Do you craft something and sell it to players?

I’m kinda new to GW “system” – I do traditional MMOs like Cabal, Diablo 3, Ragnarok (ooh old stuff).

It totally depends on what your alternate weapon is going to be.

I posted my build which is a longbow/greatsword build. It is meant to be a ranged build, yet it has huge potential and a high skill cap in melee as well.

Title on it is “Greatsword/Longbow, The Ultimate Barrage”.

It has everything you need to know about that set-up, and feel free to post questions if you need anything.

To add one point that will be of help. If you are playing Longbow as your primary weapon, you MUST (and I cannot stress this enough), you MUST put 30 points in Marksmanship. This allows you to increase your longbow range.

You can argue about the other 40 points, but 30 in Marksmanship is a must.

That’s what I’m trying to accomplish. Longbow/Greatsword build.

Hi. I am re-rolling to Ranger and is quite becoming fond of using Longbows, but I don’t know what skills and traits to use.

Any ideas or should I provide more input about my playstyle?

There is no need for a leveling guide. Play the game however you want. You can level by crafting, doing task areas, doing events, or map exploration. Also, always do the story quest as soon as you can, it tends to give nice chunks of exp to help you go along, and I enjoyed my story the whole way.

I would highly recommend going for map completion as you travel to each task area. I usually go to the nearest scout I see, and they will show you were a couple task areas are, and possibly where another scout is. Then I just work my way around the map, picking up all skill points, POIs, Vistas, and waypoints. By the end I’ve probably gotten several levels, and a nice reward for completing the map.
