they should buff hard dungeon rewards, they should make lupi always give a rare, I mean, he’s harder than all of cof p1, not saying he’s hard, just saying that a good pug group with decent dps can take him down in 6-8 minutes, a good pug group can finish cof p1 in 6-8 minutes

Well.. The record is now on like 24 seconds or something. Lupi is a bit of a joke as well if you go full berserker group like.

Because majority can do the 24s kill… Dat reason…

Basically, yea. If everyone packs Berserker gear, grab a few Warriors and Mesmer or Guardians are you’re good to go. If you bring enough DPS the encounter becomes a joke, that’s the point. I’m not impressed that people take him down so fast. I’m let down that nothing is being done about it.

And again Mr. Op: COF gets too high of a reward compared to other dungeons. Or other dungeons too low compared to COF, just how you look at it. There’s nothing wrong with people speedrunning, farming etc. What is wrong is that people that do a way harder dungeon, cleanly, still get way worse rewards than COF, which is facerolling easy.

I’m not seeing other posts about it…

Hmm, maybe all those players that did it in that timeframe doesn’t go to forums… yeah…

Are you serious? You make a minigame, that people play (mostly) only for achievement and you make in unbelievebly hard so people have to spend all their free time on this awesome mini game? And they even have to do it before next patch, because there is Bazaar of the Four Winds achievement which you can’t complete until you finish this mini game – gg.

Are you really planning on doing these things in every patch? Things that take regular players hours to achive? Thing like jummping puzzle without checkpoint or this awesome minigame?

Are you going to do something about this Adnul or is it really just about tons of luck to beat him? Did you even test it before you implanted it in to the patch?

Are you just going to make people mad or maybe could you do something enjoyable (like the sprint – which I personaly don’t like, but people like it)?

Too hard?

2 things: Practice or quit.

If other people can do it, it can be done. And don’t give me that “people are different” logic because it’ll only pull you down and show what real attitude you have as a gamer.

What about the people who like the game ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: knives.6345

knives.6345

Been reading a lot of negative threads on how disappointed people are with the game. Why those people continue to play is beyond me. How about the people who actually enjoy the game ?

I enjoy this game a lot. I’ve played other mmo’s and have yet to come across the mechanics of GW2.

1. I like the freedom of this game. you can go where you please with little to no restrictions. Whether you survive in certain area’s do to level is up to the player.

2. The game has truly grasped the free roam aspect.

3. The graphics are amazing.

4. The solo content is better than any other mmo I have played.

5. You don’t have to rely on others to survive and progress like you do in other mmo’s

6. The game is buy to play and doesn’t force you into a subscription to progress.

Just a few things I enjoy about this game. Any other comments on what you enjoy about the game ?

Your points are good, I could not agree more. But, everyone is different. When I was working on my previous job (like a customer service, only it’s tech support), complaints > recognition. It’s alot easier to complain about something than to praise what is done. After all, it’s human nature to see the mistakes first, because they are not part of the plan/design. Here are some of the reasons I observed:

—> Because people don’t like to “put in effort”. They like to be entitled to something like “I did this, I want that”.
—> Because people don’t know the difference between “need” and “want”.
—> Because people get bored of “empty/repetitive” content. Sure there are like 1000+ events out there – but not everyone has a taste for them – see the “effort” part.
—> Because some people think there really is no major impact on what we do. “Okay, I did the event, what now? I got some greens, a few coppers, an exp, some karma… okay… now what? Oooh a new event!”

See? GW2 is a great game – but we can all admit that it’s pretty repetitive. And doing easy, repetitive things leads to what? Burnout.

Do you or do you not want us to grind?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: knives.6345

I’m using the Claw of Jormag event as an example.

I know the event is optional — I’ve seen those words a billion times on this forum before. That’s my problem. Why would people do this to themselves for something that’s optional?

The moment I enter Frostgorge, I feel like I throw down my weapons and replace them with a shovel and plough. I respect the actual people that spend their time out in the fields in the sun, mud and the snow. But in a fantasy game environment, I find it extremely hard to believe anybody having any fun at all spending two hours fighting the same enemies for a tiny chance at getting anything good.

I’m here to play a game and kill me a dragon. I’m tired of feeling like the old couple in the painting below. I really don’t think this sort of “gimme your items” behavior belongs in a fantasy setting such as Tyria. It’s not heroic at all. The second you kill Zhaitan is the second you become an assembly line worker.

I hesitate to mention the Manifesto, but like, we’re totally grinding.

No one told you to grind. No one required you to grind.

Ask yourself, why do you want to do it? If you have an answer, then ask yourself again – are you required to do it/have it?

If you answered yes on the last question, I want to know what is it that needs to be done/you need to have that requires grind. (take note, “need” not “want”)

If you answered no on the last question, then you can only blame yourself.

GW2 takes on a different formula. Unlike other MMO – GW2 “removed” several kinds of progression – which has it’s own pro’s and con’s.

Unfortunately, the removal of this causes us to feel “stagnant” (I know, I feel it too). We reached the “peak”. So, after months of hiatus, when you come back – it is still “the same” – no progression, remember?

I left for 3 months due to work requiring me to leave my country – and when I came back, the only thing I’m probably missing are the skins and several titles – non of which is required for me to compete. I am not left behind. The same gear I own is still one of the BiS…

I am not saying this game is not for you, but this game is designed differently compared to the traditional MMO. You may want to look at this game in a different perspective.

Thanks. Can you describe how often you are able to repeat these with the Diminishing Returns system? I can kind of understand why some people would not accept low levels though it’s kind of silly for the game to be in such a state where someone who is high enough level for a dungeon wouldn’t be desired unless they are over-leveled.

Back then, I run AC 3x per path. I believe you can repeat more, but I am also aiming for tokens back then.

Well….excuse me for not being entirely familiar with a new feature introduced to the game. As to the point that the question has been answered many times before:
1) It appears I am not the only person who is not entirely familiar with a new feature introduced to the game. (could it be that the new feature was not adequately explained? Naw, couldn’t happen. Oh, wait… apparently a number of people didn’t quite grasp how the new feature worked, so maybe it wasn’t after all)
2) The “search this forum” box is pretty much useless

Oh, another point – it seems that a prerequisite to answering questions on this forum is a snotty attitude. Excuse me once again, this time for not being the “l33t g@m3r” that you people so obviously are. Wait… no excuse needed. I’m glad I’m not and hope I never adopt the attitude on display here.

Because you need to be a l33t g@m3r to read an in-game item’s description.

Warrior or Guardian

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: knives.6345

I only play WvW (for PVE it’s meta events only).
I wanted to create a Hammer Warrior at first, since he has area control while still keeping damage, and he has lots of weapon choices.

Then i was told that the Guardian hammer is much more annoying to the enemy, plus guardian survivability is incredible, and he has more utility.

I already have a Mesmer, Engineer, and a Ranger, so i’m not too keen on having casters or range, i want a melee class that can be effective in zergs, has good survivability, build diversity, and good damage without being a kamikaze.

WvWvW-wise, you may wanna do Guardian.

Since my guild-mates seemed to be active only during the weekends, and they are on the other part of the world (‘Murica, Canada) – I’m currently looking for an active guild who participates on dungeon runs – not necessarily farming – just running and grabbing stuff during weekdays.

I’m also down on events and stuff. Hopefully I can find an active guild which most population resides on Asia-Australia.

Let me know. I’m on Borlis Pass btw, but I can guest anytime if needed.

knives.6345

3 weeks ago, I started my Ranger…

This is the problem.

Dude… If you would read the rest of the post, even my Warrior, Guardian or Ele is having a terrible time doing it with PuGs – unlike some few months back where we faceroll the dungeon like CoF regardless of what class in it(not in terms of finishing time but you get the point).

I have carried PuGs using my Ranger, yes, you saw it right – Ranger. Probably not in terms of damage – but in terms of strategy – but they have a bloody hard time grasping things. I mean, you already told them countless times what to do – still doing the exact same mistake.

I don’t want to look elitist, but I even tried to put in the “Experienced only” tag on gw2lfg – I don’t know if they are really experienced or they just choose to ignore that to be able to run the dungeon… I mean, honestly – majority sucked – no offense.

And I experience this to AC only.

I had a run last week on TA and HoTW – great groups. Not the best, but they are great. So, I don’t have any ideas what’s going on.

knives.6345

3 weeks ago, I started my Ranger… I am planning to use AC as my levelling grounds until I can reach CoF… Every PuG I joined – it is always failing on either Lover’s Crypt or Hodgin’s…

Why?

I mean, I get it. I post “any level/class as long as experienced” but no one seems to know what to do. I try my best to teach but nah, I’m getting ignored.

Okay, so I got my Ranger to kittenfed. So I went ahead and tried Warrior.

Same. I never get any good PuG’s now. I switched to my 80 Ele/Guard/Ranger, thinking maybe it’s me because I’m low levelled – no. Still the same.

So, are people only used to run only CoF nowadays? Has player skill diminished?

It wasn’t this bad a few months ago – I almost always do PuGs because of the thrill and challenge – but this is not challenge. It’s, sad to say – stupidity.

PVE: my opinion

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: knives.6345

knives.6345

1. ) Dungeons are boring, lack of “exciting” and “meaningful” loot.
2.) Bosses are tiny and often overshadowed by larger scale characters.
3.) Waaaaay too many 1 shot mechanics. Takes away from interesting gameplay.
4.) Zero personal progression and a severe lack of “Reward”.
5.) Once you hit the gear wall, and have all exotics……. thats it…. lame.
6.) No large scale organized PVE, dare I say raids…… Inc Flame.
7.) Sorry excuse for world bosses with zero exciting loot.
8.) skins are only sooo exciting for soooo long….. /sadface.

Seriously, I love the art, lore, gameplay, but is that really enough to make someone log in and stay logged in? Trying to re invent the wheel can only go so far. I would love to see this game get more than a hundred views on twitch, and more people logging in and playing. But having to use a website to find a group for PVE content was kinda the nail in the coffin for me. What are some of everyone’s thoughts on this? I mean let’s all take our “Fan-Boy” frame of mind out and be no partisan on this topic and get some good discussion going, and who knows maybe arena net will take notice.

1. I agree
2. I don’t really care
3. I disagree. 1 shot mechanics are awesome. I mean, it would be more awesome if a player would die immediately instead of being downed. But must give change to dodge.
4. That’s what happens when we balance around and separate the pvp/wvw/pve content
5. I want gear threadmill too – but with my work, I would easily be left behind so no.
6. I agree. I never played WoW, but the concept would be good.
7. I agree.
8. I disagree – as a poor individual in-game, I don’t have the luxury of getting whatever skin I want. lol

—All are based on what I feel.

get him on dungeons again, we haven’t had a single dungeon change since ac. this is getting ridiculous.

Uh have you seen how popular the AC dungeon changes were? not very, very few even enter the place anymore, i think AC was a failed experiment big time…

All Guildwars 2 dungeons are frustration and tedium, but AC has a special place in them all now..

Because there are more easier dungeons than it. CoF… CoE…

Now, if all would be revamped, people would “flock” lower level dungeons again – unless the players now evolved into brainless husks who doesn’t/could not do/could not adapt to hard/challenging contents.

I have ran AC because I am levelling my Ranger – most PUG suck. Doesn’t know how to dodge – even forgetting to talk to NPC to choose path sigh.
All my AC runs this week we had to skip Kholer since everyone seems to be – well – dying.

I’m pretty sure all information on your account is stored client side. That’s how you’re able to play on your account on any computer that has GW2 installed.

But also you can add any achievement you want to the UI, just tick the little box next to it and it will be added to the list. It does convert it to a percentage, but you can still use it to track your progress.

Elitism is not the problem.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: knives.6345

knives.6345

Why are people constantly saying that elitism is a problem. Yes there are kitten and there are elitists. Sometimes people are both. But what is wrong with trying to do things in a fast timely manner? Nothing.

I was recently in an Arah run where I was minding my own business and not trying to call people out. One of the people in the party started telling about how he recently soloed Lupicys and asked me why i had not, telling me that i was a good player and i could. Now for me there is no reason to try soloing Lupicus anymore as it has been done by so many people there is no prestige in doing it. I explained this to him and said that I’m happy with my guilds record speed kill of Lupicus. I then proceeded to talk about his video because i had watched it and made a couple comments and gave him a pointer about his gear. He welcomed this advice but strangely enough another person in the party did not. They started talking about how full zerker gear is bad and telling me i’m wrong, started insulting me cause i died once in the run, telling me that my guild is kitten ect… Now this obviously didn’t make me happy and I was arguing with this person. And, yes when I argue with someone I will usually leave you kitten ed off. So you can say I’m an kitten if you want for defending myself and my guild, but i do not believe I did anything wrong. So this person was calling me a douchy elitist. This is where i fail to see whats wrong with being an elitist. I came into your group. Ran your way. Didn’t start talking until I was asked a question, then get called a kitten elitist. Nothing That happened in this run was elitist at all. Nor does defending my self and my guild constitute me as a kitten / kitten hole. Where the arguments came from is this self righteous person thinking they know everything and insulting me for no reason because i try to use to best gear and set up I can to quickly clear content. This is what should be frowned upon, not elitism. Elitism is simply trying to do things the best way possible, being an elitist does not make you an kitten. Being an kitten does.

Well, You could just have discontinued the argument and be the better man. They have their ways, you have yours. You think zerker is the way to go – they don’t think it is. Agree to disagree.

I personally would not mind what the other player is using (yes, I don’t mind if he has MF gear) as long as he’s not a burden to the run.

And by burden I don’t mean he has the lowest damage – I mean he dies tons and if new to the run, doesn’t listen.
