Exactly. All the whining that they wanted to have “raids” to do with their guilds, but when they finally have a chance to prove themselves in a large sequence of chained events designed for more than 5 people, they whine that no one else is there to do it for them.

There should be some encouraging events to re-populate Orr and keep people there.

Why? The game has a huge world, and Orr isn’t even close to being the most interesting area (especially Cursed Shore, which is the blandest of the three Orr zones).

What the game needs is less “level segmentation”. High-level players tended to spend all their time in Orr not because they enjoyed it, but because it was where they could get the drops and materials they needed for high-level crafting, etc..

Most of them flew past the mid-level areas, which is where some of the most interesting content is, and have little reason to go back (even if they enjoy the content, they’ll feel like they’re “wasting” time there, because they’re getting the “wrong” kind of materials, the heart vendors have nothing they can use, etc.).

Sprinkle some level 80 resource nodes in level 35-75 areas, add a few world bosses with unique drops (ex., doesn’t even have to be gear; could be mini-pets, etc.), and high-level players will spread out more evenly across the game world, which is not only a better use of game assets, but also improves game performance.

Because Orr’s the topic here. It should be one of the end-game areas. Look at it now, it’s empty. There is no way you could get your Karma Items anymore, save weekends.

Heavy armor professions doesn’t fare much better. My 3250 armor guardian with defensive utility skills end up near death fighting even a single regular enemy in melee combat in this area. Unless I’m missing something it seems to be an Extreme Risk – Low Reward area to visit.

My 2900 Guardian leaves each fight with half health. I have 19k HP.

On topic:

I believe the difficulty is ok. I don’t see too many dead bodies on our server.

There should be some encouraging events to re-populate Orr and keep people there.

Make a new dungeon that has mechanics like FoTM, lock it like Arah. Make the new dungeon give good loots so that people would really, really put effort in going there.

It can only be unlocked once all god statues (Grenth, Dwayna, Balthazar, etc…) are not contested.

To be honest, I rarely see people saying specific level/gear requirements.

All I see is “lf1m: AC exp” or “lf3m CoF path X”

Something like that on 99.0% of the time. Server: Borlis Pass.

I saw one asking “lf1m: Arah exp”, so I sent a PM – they asked what class, I said “guardian”, then they invited me – I immediately saw the reason – they need a melee class. lol. Understandable.

I’ve been 80 for a while and I don’t really know where I fit in dungeons as far as my profession. I read the forums, and full support or tank is frowned upon as being useless. After watching a video of Warrior DPS, I don’t think my guard will ever come close. Now, many will say, but you can live longer blah blah blah, sure. In Fractals dungeon today I just found myself wet noodling mobs with WW with tops maybe 4-5k hit. And helping up falling comrades. kitten for healing, though I don’t have much healing gear. I see these full exotic Guards prancing around and I feel like asking them what their builds are or for advice, but it’s always the same answer, play how you like man. Well I want decent dps and decent healing. Can anyone help me out, please.

I use shouts as skills and Knights gear and Berserker trinkets. Crit chance is around 40ish, which for me is mediocre. Crit damage is 60ish, which is mediocre as best. HP pool will play around 15-17k, defense around 2.9k to 3k.

They love me at dungeons. :p

I know we have several sites for calculators, but I haven’t seen one where we can also include specific item (Berserker, Knights, Explorer,…), do those sites exist?

Don’t wanna be stuck farming for the “looks”. Now, if “looks” would function the same way as Dyes do, I can go with B.

Open up your Hero Panel (H), on the middle top (just above the Headgear), there should be an icon for Dyes.

Click it and the colors available to you is on the left side. Click on the color, mouse would change to something like a paintbrush and click on the little colored square/s just below each gear icon. It will tell you what part of the gear will be changed in color.

You can get more colors via looting/buying dyes.

Hello!

I picked up GW2 about two weeks ago and my main is a guardian. I want to be a tank and I just dinged 35 today and found out I can do dungeons. Before I waltz in there and start hitting stuff I’d like to know the following:

1.) Do I need to keep threat. If so, how?
2.) What is the best build?
3.)Any other tips?

Look for Power/Toughness/Vitality gears (bought using AC tokens or trade on different Orr Exotic Karma Vendors), snap in Rune of the Soldier or Dolyak, try 0/5/30/30/5 traits, use AC weapons as well.

There you go, decent tank with decent damage.

Honestly that setup will be about useless with the traits you mentioned if your aiming at AH, given you have no crit. As for damage its not good damage. If your really wanting to tank aim for 3k+ armor, 35%+ crit, and 15k+ hp. Focus the rest into attack power and crit damage. That will be your best general tank setup for mitigating damage and being able to dodge/self heal. As for traits in general your tank like builds use a variation of the 0/?/30/?(20)/? build most focusing on AH with the Empowering Might master trait, which is where the ?(20) comes from.

Tank = low damage, high survival. Unless tank here have another definition.

I’m currently starting to take more interest in WvWvW, and I think I’m beginning to like Scepter+whaterver (I use shield atm).

Any suggestions on what gear to use? I’m slightly aligning to critical build, maximizing damage (and crit damage ofc) and everything else is secondary.

Berserkers? CoF armors? Traits?

Hope to have atleast 15-16k hp.

This is becoming repetitive. I hope there are some major major events, like someone (or if possible a horde of dragons) is trying to invade a major city, Lion’s Arch, perhaps?

It’s an event chain at the Straits of Devastation, near Caer Shadowfain waypoint on the Fields of Gold. Near Broodmother event.

Is this the humming noise that usually occurs when many effects are on the screen? And you need to reboot the game to fix it?

Scepter is fine, except maybe the projectile speed.

I like GS, especially the Ascalonian one.

1. Agreed. No need to say anything but that.

2. I joined a guild where people are friendly. My first guild was cool, but it diminished fast. My current is okay, howerver, we are separated by a huge gap on timezone (I’m on Asia, most of them are US/Can) that’s why we only play together weekends or weekdays when they wake up and I’m about to sleep -_-

3. It takes patience and strategy. I completed all completed maps without involving/asking for help, which includes Straits of Devastation. I have to admit, I went all rage on that skill point, but there is no point getting mad over something you have little control of. Just keep calm, think clearly.

4.I don’t like it too. I just got used to it and live with it. Personally. I don’t like it. If feels I leveled my character for nothing. But I understand the reason behind it.

5.I maybe one of the few who thinks water combat is okay. I don’t like it, I would avoid it if I have to and I still prefer to fight on land, but I don’t despise it.

6. Not Anet’s fault for you not understanding what is going on. Read chat. Read commander’s orders. Talk more, ask more. It’s a MMORPG for god’s sake. You play with other people. They are not NPCs. They do respond when asked.

7. I just completed story for the sake of completing it and gaining exp. Ending sucks.

Not on Borlis Pass. 60mins in Kessex Hills, I shouted and only 1 person responded. Saw 2 players within that 60mins, literally.

I’m now using D/S and I’m doing 150ish damage consistently. Yay!

Still, I find it low, but I guess it is because I have no points on Power. I’ll try to mix+match. I get bored playing because there is no one, literally no one on low level areas

I consider everything under 60 low level.)

Anyways, when I am playing my alt, I feel like I’m doing Skyrim. I’m not ranting, but I don’t feel the MMO-thing “feel” when I am on those zones. On 80ish (Orr and Frostgorge), it can be fun.

Well, I guess either people are always using their main 80 toon, or most of them are levelling via crafting/wvwvw.

Tough luck for beginners and alt users like me. :p

Hi all!

I’m currently levelling a new Alt (Being a Guardian for more than 250hours), and I chose ele – which is probably the opposite of Guardian (being squishy, ranged and using light armor).

I know ele’s are supposed to be squishy, but at level 20ish, my damage output seems low. I usually use Fire attunement and staff, but I only deal 100-200 damage. Enemies take like forever to kite.

Don’t get me wrong, I know how to kite (Being ranged class in my other MMORPGs), I certainly know when and how to dodge (practiced using Guardian) and I update my gear every 5-10 levels.

Is it supposed to be this way? When do I start getting 500ish or mediocre damage?

Currently, I put all my traits to Air (for HP, as I sometimes tend to do mobs, being used to Guardian lol)

Any advice?

I’m annoyed in Orr, mainly because all WP are contested. Good events but I guess people are not doing it for reasons stated above.

Still, I don’t hate it. Good Karma farm, especially Plinx and Arah.

First off, this is not a rant. I had observed that on my server (Borlis Pass), low level areas are literally a ghost town. I played my alt for 60mins and I only saw 2 players on Kessex Hills. Really?

I mean, I understand that most people have gotten to 80 and some lowbies are levelling via crafting, but that could not contribute to almost 0 people in a map, wouldn’t it?

So, I did also an Asura and guess what, it’s the same. Empty low level areas.

So, my main questions are the following:

Which server still has an active low level areas (excluding bots)?
Is the “once a week” server transfer already implemented?
Can I still join my guildmates (which are on Borlis Pass) on dungeon raids if I did a server transfer?

It’s like legendary weapons, there has to be few of them, otherwise they will be just ordinary thing that everyone has. Talking about the lottery here is irrelevant. This isn’t the lottery.

Keyword is expect. It means that you are strongly believing that something will happen. However, it kinda contradicts with chance, as with chance, something may or may not happen.

This isnt a lottery. This is a game that has a community that the devs do their best to keep happy with content. Making something impossible to get during a fun event, make people unhappy. Stop using that as an example because it pointless.

Chance is per chest, not the total chests opened since the game has no way knowing how many chests you will open.

Say there is a 2% chance to get skins, that leaves 98% chance to get crap per chest. And we all know that 98% usually wins.

So there. It’s a gamble – deal with it.

Hi all!

I have a crit guardian, which encorporates GS. I recently acquired the Ascalon GS and I snapped a Sigil of Accuracy to it (increase crit chance by 5%) but it doesn’t seem to take effect. I have around 1500/1600 Precision and my crit chance is 36%. It is 36% whether I remove or equip my GS.

Any ideas?

Yes, the “convert 5% of toughness to precision” is absolutely necessary. I have 36% crit chance (My Sigil of Accuracy is NOT working. It doesn’t add Crit Chance, anyone experiencing this? I attached it on AC GS btw), but is working to find a way to up it atleast 40%. HP would like be 17k-ish, which is on-par I believe.
