Idk why a-net doesn’t have something in place that wont allow you to delete a character with account bound items on it, or indeed why we do not have an item restore function on our account’s, other games have it, why not gw2?.

It’s a nice to have feature but it’s really not their responsibility.

Can you post evidence of at least half these people getting their items back even if their mistake?

I’ll give you 2 weeks before you go back on most of what you said.

Any particular reason?

I’m not saying the game is perfect, but it’s certainly not the mess a lot of people (even regulars on these forums I notice) seem to think it is. It’s another way for an mmo to operate, and based on everything else I’ve tried, it’s the most feature packed an intricate I’ve seen.

Don’t listen to the haters, the forum is filled with them yet they still log on the game or at last the forums…people love to complain when they have nothing better to do.

Great post, you are right the game is great, nice to read something positive for a change. Enjoy!

Guild Renaming

I like the idea, except for one thing.

I don’t want people to be able to throw some cash at the gem store and change their guild name at will. There are some “less than honorable” guilds out there who would potentially abuse the capability.

I would recommend a couple of solutions to this:

1. Only guilds who have reached a certain rank in Politics (preferably 5) could do it, preventing those who would change in order to troll people from doing it without putting in the effort needed to do it.

2. Make it a one-time thing. If a guild has changed their name, they can’t do it a 2nd time, unless the name they choose is against the EULA.

As I said. I love the idea, but there would definitely need to be some safeguards in place to avoid abuse.

This.

Just because its the highest DPS doesnt make it the best gear. If it was the best gear we wouldnt have other options and all gear would be zerker.

My cleric guardian doesnt do much dps at all but I keep my party alive. There is more to the game than DPS, to say otherwise is ignorant.

If people would/could keep themselves alive, they would not need others to do it for them, you know, like… dodging at the right time..

Sure your cleric does dps. Even my PVT does dps. but the question is, of the total dps of your team, how much percentage is yours?

But given the quality of responses above, yeah, things look pretty grim. lol

There’s a difference between a support line and a Forum though…

Not really. Feedbacks feedbacks – it’s human nature.
I have an experience as a forum mod too, on a local MMO and it’s the same.

In true Gw2 forum style I say this to you.

’That’s just your opinion’

K. My argument about moving it into this section still stands.
Happy Sunday.

No. It doesn’t. Because it’s your opinion.

It is? Well, the Dungeon subforum description begs to disagree.

I noticed that the word “opinion” is being tossed around carelessly is most forums I have been. It’s usually used when someone has no more counter-argument to raise (sometimes, it’s name calling, ie: fanboy).

If I say GW2 sucks because it’s boring, that’s an opinion.
If I say Sunrise is better than Twilight because it’s more uncommon, that’s an opinion.
If I say that a dungeon post is correctly moved to dungeon section, it’s a fact simply because there is a forum description to back it up.

Look, I get what this thread is all about. I really do. I also get that OP wants to bring this to ANet, that’s why it’s originally posted on GD. I would’ve done the same. But when ANet’s mods did the right move, don’t QQ. For once they did something correctly.

Now, you all could QQ about devs not visiting this subforum for all I care, but moving the thread? Srsly?

Talk over dungeon strategy, thoughts, groups or more

Does not encompass ArenaNet’s refusal to engage with the dungeon community. The closest forum I could think to post this was the Guild Wars 2 Discussion forum, since my thread is aimed less at dungeons itself and more a request for more interaction with the dungeon community.

If you can’t see how this thread being moved would upset people, then I’d like to make the suggestion of looking for ArenaNet symbols in threads on this subforum over the last ten to twenty pages, and count how many are recent posts and which are purposely necro’d threads with months old developer replies.

Wow.

Not sure if you read my entire post or just quoted and took the context based on my original reply..

Anyways, I’ll take the liberty of quoting myself:

QQ away. list the subforums not being visited recently.

The mere fact your post is about dungeons merits the move to the specific subforum.

Now, if you created a thread saying “Here are the list of subforum needs to be visited more often since <insert reasons here>” – this may have stayed on GD. This WILL even stay on Page 1.

But you are complaining about the dev’s lack of attention to dungeons. It’s not general, it’s specific.

They should make a ‘complaints about other players’ subforum and move all your comments to it because they don’t belong in this thread.

Maybe you could petition that subforum?

Why pug at all?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: knives.6345

knives.6345

As I read all these complaints day after day, bad pugs, people won’t listen, run this build, use this gear, all I can say in return is why don’t we have henchmen &/or heroes?

A lot of people say henchmen/heroes can’t be done, the AI will be bad, it will kill teamwork & socializing, that’s all speculation. What WILL happen is that inexperienced players will learn the dungeons for themselves without pressure & experienced players won’t have anymore pugging headaches, it’s a win-win.

In the end, pugging is not about socializing, it’s about getting the dungeon done as fast and efficient as possible. Dungeon runners will be all friendly and sociable until you mess up, unless you play with friends or guild mates.

I usually PUG to give easy dungeons some challenge. I remember before the AC revamp last year, I’ve gotten so many PUGs that we are usually talking about stuff inside the dungeon.

It’s not always about the rewards mate… It’s about social as well.. sometimes.

It was originally placed in general discussion because it is a feedback thread regarding the lack of dev feedback in the dungeon forums.

This topic was placed in the discussion section because it is a discussion regarding the lack of developer input and it will be disregarded by developers in the dungeon section.

Don’t QQ if you don’t know the context.

Feedback about “Dungeons”
Discussion about lack of developer input for “Dungeons”

It’s explicitly included on the title. “Dungeons”. Regardless of this one being ignored because it’s in the appropriate section or not, it’s not my point. Point is, it’s moved to the proper section so don’t QQ about something they did right.

With your logic, all topics should be on the General Discussion section.

I can’t WvWvW for weeeee hours, because there is no point. No meaningful consequence if we win, no huge advantage if we lose since it’s separated on PvE.

I can’t PvE for weeeee hours since it’s boring due to lack of roles and diversity. GW2 is all about DPS. I feel like it’s an 80’s game, Pacman. All about eating and running.

I will be the debby downer here.

Dungeons have been severely neglected for the past year. The dungeon ‘team’ has been disbanded and the last surviving dev who gave a flying kitten about this part of the community has ‘lost’ his job.

What can I say. I share the sentiment in his last words:

‘Today marks the release of the last bit of content I built for ArenaNet. I had always hoped my last hurrah would be an epic dungeon that would stand the test of time, and provide entertainment for players to the very end… but instead it’s an instance that will only persist for two weeks, and then go away.’

That’s right folks. Living story, casual content. Forget about the hardcores, they don’t have the dollar signs over their heads. Forget about challenging, quality content. That would be resource intensive and would not deliver the same profits. Gotta understand at the end of the day this is a business.

Now look at that subforum. Just look at it. It’s appalling. It’s been left to rot and everyone knows it. All that’s left are the hardcores and a bunch of repetitive and nonsensical complaint posts that have been re-posted repeatedly for months by people who were ill-informed enough to think the devs will fix the problems.

EDIT!!- Well well well, look what happened. This thread was moved out of the general discussion section and into the dungeon subforum where it won’t be seen. Surprised? I KNOW I’M NOT.

It was moved because it’s about “Dungeons”?

Don’t QQ if they do something “right”. lol

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

No, they promised if all goes well. But you didn’t read/understood that. Not their fault you read only what you want!

I should have included a sarcasm tag. My apologies.

I personally understand that. Some in this thread doesn’t.

Oh yeah. It makes it okay? Well, next time I have a project at work that isn’t done. I’ll just go in a week before hand and say “Hey, sometimes stuff gets pushed back”. I’m sure my manager would be perfectly happy about that.

Just as an FYI, it’s okay to like the game and still see fault in actions of the company.

I’d say it’s more like a client requests something, you give an estimate on how long it takes, and you let them know if certain things are going to take longer.

And yes, it’s ok to critisise and like. However, I feel most people in this thread are blowing things way, way out of proportion, to the point they ignore the fact that we were told certain bits wouldn’t make it in before the end of 2013.

Yes, I agree people in this thread are blowing things way, way out of proportion. I think the amount of blowing is equal on both sides.

I respectfully disagree.

This time, only the complaining side is blowing it out of proportion for taking a context out of the entire post and completely disregarding that one sentence that answers the allegations on this thread.

Do I have to keep posting the disclaimer or are you guys going to conveniently ignore it?

•“As always, the content above is subject to change as we test and iterate on these systems.” *

That doesn’t really make it okay.

Why can’t THIS be the issue we have? It’s the face that they say all these things are coming, but then say they might, and they don’t. What’s the point of discussing them, when more often then not, it doesn’t happen.

Although my post was removed, I made some valid points about the overall feel the company gives off through posts, actions, and comments made which just makes the playerbase/customer feel let down. This whole “Here are a bunch of things we’re going to do in 2013” that don’t happen feels like just another item on the list. Not to mention the players repeatedly defending them with “Well, they didn’t give an actual deadline, and they said it was subject to change” is just sad.

No, it makes it okay.

The problem is, again, people didn’t bother to read it. People got their hopes high – people were sure it will be implemented regardless of what happens – because they did not finish reading it.
Did ANet miss the disclaimer? No. Did the people miss the disclaimer? Probably. Someone did not get the memo, and it’s not ANet…

What Anet posted: “Here’s our plan for 2013. This are the things, might happen, may not – depending on various factors”.

What people read: “Here’s our plan for 2013. This are the things….”

What people understood: “Here’s what’s going to happen on 2013”

How the people reacted: “Yay! New stuff coming this 2013!!!!”

See what’s wrong?

I am not saying ANet is not wrong, but come on people… We have the intellect to buy and register and actually play the game, don’t tell me we lack the intellect to actually read and understand to the end…

Maybe next time ANet should plaster the word “tentative” around…

This is the most ignored sentence in the announcement:

Just saying…

This is the internet. “We’re thinking we might try something like X in the future,” means “We absolutely guarantee that we will have X ready within a week.”

it’s not correct.
nobody (or at least, not the larger part of players) is really whining about what anet didn’t yet deliver because a delay.
people complain about what THEY DID against what was quite clearly a promise,
as they sold the game to thousands of people thanks of it, people like me that if knew about grinding for BiS (i stress it once again. some of you are trying to convince other people that ascend\infuse is not required, and it’s optional. and everybody knews they are mandatory) exotics and legendaries, would never buy the game.

Maybe just bad luck huh.

Ectoplasm salvaging... on the decline?

I have had a real struggle getting ectos as well. Maybe the drop rate was too high, looked like I was averaging 1-2 per rare with Masters.

lol

1-2? lucky you. I’m averaging 0-1 using masters.

You’d be BIS in WoW for a couple months only, after a horrendous grind and begging your friends and guildies to run last tier’s raid to grab those last few essences, at which point they release a new patch and you throw your legendary on the scrap heap with all the other useless tinkertoys of obsolete stat sticks that you can’t even use as a transmog.

Here my legendary is truly Legendary, BIS forever. GW2 respects my time investment, something I never got from WoW.

GW2 is very grindy compared to any of the mmos I’ve played in years. When I say played, I mean games I actually got into and played for more than 10 hours.

You sound jealous.

I would like to know what those MMOs are..

WoW, Swtor, Rift and GW(not a mmo blabla). I haven’t played Swtor or rift in a long time, so things could have changed. Grind seems to be a very subjective subject nowadays.

WoW is less grindy than GW2?

This is one of many other features that should’ve been in the game at start. How much I would love to have it right now, ANet should have other priorities at the moment.
A big +1, nonetheless!

Would still be a plus if they implement this. This feature is very basic.

I mean, why isn’t this thought of at the beginning? How long would it take to get this implemented and tested? It’s just some dropdowns (UI change) + some item query.

Don’t get me wrong! I am giving this a big plus!
Unfortunately the main problem is what you already noted: Why isn’t this thought of at the beginning?
There are só many things that should’ve been here when the game got out, and even if it was overlooked, really.. a quick update or hotfix should get 90% of the problems away in the first month. We’re almost 1.5 years further now, and it feels like only the super big and attention seeking problems were fixed.
I can remember myself being stuck at a ( Level 42? ) Skritt main story quest over a year ago. It took ANet months to fix this. Needless to say, I was already level 80 by the time and doing the main story quests were not much more then a pain and annoyance to complete at this point.

Off topic: Happy new year!!

Exactly. I’m a software developer by profession, though I don’t develop games but I have done tons of UI+backend changes (website, sql, java) and it’s not that complex to do. I’m not bragging, but 1 or 2 developers + 1 Quality control could do this change in less than a week.

Anyways, no need to get so mad about this simple issue over the start of 2014. lol

Happy new year to all. Cheers!

Yep I was in that Arah dungeon.

Anet, can’t you afford security professionals? I sent you $20 USD just a couple days ago.

ddosing isn’t hacking (cracking)….there’s nothing you can really do to avoid it. Kudos to arenanet for restoring services quickly though.

There is.. Certain hosts have that feature…

New professions and races in the gem store?

The title need a tag [How to kill GW2].
Gemstore must exclusively provide skins and out fight bonuses.

Why is it okay for other games to charge you 60$ for an expansion that includes a new race or class, but GWII is not allowed to sell those things seperately?

Because expansions contains alot more than just new characters?

On the original topic, when I read “experienced only” or “please know what to do” I read it as “I need to be carried”. From my experience “First timers welcome” is an indication of a party with a good attitude. If you want a leet party it’s only going to be a matter of luck on lfg regardless of what you put in the description.

Or it could be “let’s not waste each other’s time” or “let’s get this done with and reap rewards asap”.

:)

Start party – specify requirements clearly. Back then, when we are still using gw2lfg.com, I would specify my level (35+ then) and that I am accepting any class, any level – this fills up usually in 5 mins.

Another is to find a guild to help you.

I can't decide between a Ranger or Warrior.

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: knives.6345

knives.6345

I have both classes and I’ll choose Ranger simply because GW2 is already overflowing with Warriors. I use my Ranger more than my Warrior except when running dungeons.
Just look up Brazil’s guide for Ranger if you need help on the build…

Ooookay for stereotypes between 2 classes:

Warrior
-Overpowered on PvE.
-Most wanted class on dungeons.
-Do I need say more? lol

Ranger
-OK on PvE
-Not so wanted on dungeons.
-Very little variety on clothes. (Medium tends to use trenchcoat 90% of the time so…)
-Horrible pet AI. Since your damage is split between you and the pet, if pet dies or simply is not in combat, DPS (biggest factor in-game PvE wise) suffers. People will hate you. lol
-Great range. Traited LB is around 1500 range.
-Good for farming mats. Just make pet take aggro and farm away
-Good for farming champs on Queensdale/Frostgorge
-Decent number of dodge (if you have Sword/Dagger)

Cannot answer on personal story since I only play Human…
