Same, at first thought getting all the HP for elite was gonna take me weeks….. until I got into it… got it in one night with the help of a guildie
I know the comparison between core vs HoT in terms of content is unfair when it’s quantified by $$ cost, still find that the amount of content added is “fair” in terms of potential, I consider it would have been nice to add the living world content as of its part of the story line..lets say the discount in the gem store is cool… but when you add it up to the cost of the expansion it starts looking ugly, putting it together would have been nice …or at least keep the discount over time to be fair with the ones that already payed for it (will just ignore that they included core in HoT…but there’s already a thread for that) …. so in short…I think it was “ok” (not great) in terms of content …we are still to see what else is going to be added/improved …just hope that this wave of funds will be reflected in the development of the game.
So I found this in the Gilded Hollow...

Amazing, the guild hall hidden contents are being revealed! :o
I find Jumping puzzles fun depending on my mood … some are cool and its a nice gw2 feature … but please ANET Fix those new maps, the fps on them is sad (memory management + animations/particles), that makes jumping puzzles near to impossible
If survivability is an issue for you, more than element, try getting gear that adds vitality or toughness…. signet of earth helps a bit too
I would buy pre-release if they add some cool stuff (skins, minis, etc) ..but specially if its a kitteneaper… ….. in other words, yes, I would buy pre-release.
Since I have heaps of free time at the office I kinda researched into this… The claims I see now in general are …
1. Why if we already had worked for stuff, it was taken away with the introduction of HoT: Yeah agree this one part is unfair, even if it offers methods to “recover it”, kinda need at least a member (more like a handful) with the expansion to claim the hall. then add some maths for first tiers to unlock already acquired perks (even if they don’t have to pay to get them).
2. Claiming the hall requires at least 5 people: Official page announcement said that the first of the six pillars to design the guild hall system being the first “Emphasize Community and Fellowship”. Wiki suggested using guild initiative for reduced instances, blah blah…. still doesn’t give all the perks guild already had. So here is … socialize or die
3. Skins are only available on higher tier upgrades that requires humongous amounts of mats: That is also kinda pillar one so socialize or die…. still some tiers can still be unlocked by small guilds, takes time yes, but still personally think a paid expansion should bring at least 2 months+ of game play to cover most areas, if everything is done too fast then makes no sense… still not an excuse for grinding.
I think the game is big fro everyone! IMHO regardless of the game (even mario Bros) the end zones are supposed to be harder than the starting zones.
Is there any tool preferable ingame to test dps either direct damage or condition and get some sort of a score, rate or at least the amount of damage dealt?
First of all, Who actually thinks of Guild Halls as content? Putting furniture in a building is boring, pointless, and seems like just a lack of the devs actually making content. Not only that it take tons of time and materials for what ?
I dont play mmo’s to play house. I play mmo’s for pve content, pvp content, and the experience’s that go along with that. Wish they would have just made new dungeons, fractals, more raids, another pvp map! , or pretty much anything other than this “lets play house” stuff.
GW2, being not a linear progression game and being previously casual-friendly, is all about skins or other fluff, which is what makes this game have such a high player retention value. They have effectively hidden a bunch of fluff in a guild hall a TON of casual players won’t be able to access.
There are a TON of skins you can and I can’t get because a MAX level restoration 2 guild is required to get the weaponsmith2.
I don’t even care about the play house stuff. I might after everything else was complete just for something else to do and I’m glad it’s there for those who need it. But this is about BASIC access to a ton of this expansion’s skins.
I thought this was about having a refuge and a guild hall to chill with family/friends… apparently this is just another complain about not being able to get shinny stuff easily -_-

Hehehe, from my side I expected a game called GUILD wars be more centered in Guilds, Halls might just be the beginning, for sure more in-depth is coming like guild vs guild battles…etc. I see they are increasing the importance of Guilds in WvW but dunno how is that working, probably not focused on that atm.
But the thing is, their guild is not our guild. And they have zero staying power… they are not GW2-dedicated, so we don’t want to throw all our mats at their guild knowing it’s not ours and they’ll be bailing out whenever their fps-focused group of people gets bored.
Why not having them throw some mats at yours? help should be both sided if friends, no?
Why not have the devs give us back what we worked for already? Why should I have to pay to do something twice? Why is that acceptable to anyone?
Agreed!
I tried. I put in a ticket. They don’t even realize the amount of effort that was for small guilds… we didn’t even mind doing it. We were even told we’d get this or that if we got our guilds to certain levels, which I put a ton of gold into achieving… Only to find out I can’t even get a guild hall because the mobs are tuned way too high for a duo. So we have to beg for help, which I hate doing. Just to open up the guild hall… then we have the same mat requirements as guilds of 100 people… it’s punitive at best.
I joined a big guild when I returned from a 2 years break…. they got almost all the stuff in no time and I wanted to help but couldn’t … maybe I can join yours, would like to help as it would give me something fun to do …. I am a casual player tho, so kinda can’t spend 2hours + every day…. despite that have enjoyed the content and can kill almost every mob or small group by myself in HoT, so 3 is better than 1 or two… just let me know
There were plenty of percs for guilds before guild halls. Small guilds worked very hard for them and they were all taken away.
This.
Where they taken fully away? so all guilds lost everything? or its just gated behind the hall?
what did you have? no guild hall… maybe I don’t understand… I’ll just leave this thread

This game needs to be less casual friendly in endgame zones
It’s different to be a casual player and a bad player.. HoT is casual friendly …I enjoy it a lot in my short sessions ….and don’t find it difficult….. don’t think there’s such a thing as a bad player… just unexperienced… but that can be fixed… just got to try!
A guild hall is for a guild, not for 3 players. Also, the guild hall is not much content, it’s just a huge area with nothing in it (well with fluff in it if it’s filled with… fluff like a chair you can’t even sit on).
Besides the +% food the tavern guy gives me, and cheap transportation to the Magus Falls, I don’t need it.
The skins. The entire purpose of this game behind a wall of friends I don’t have. If it was all just a place to run around, I wouldn’t give a rat’s kitten . It’s not about buffs (though 10% xp, karma, etc is nice when you’re leveling or farming… It’s about the skins we won’t have. It’s about the principle of the thing…
Content gating can suck my butt.
Free for all skins makes even less sense for me, but still understand your point … there are some stuff I can’t get … probably will need a year to get most of it cause I am casual…. and even while in a big guild … a solo player… maybe just look for more sympathizers to aid you in the material collection, doesn’t have to be instantly acquired… but you have experience in other several MMOs so… shouldn’t be hard. kinda 1 time deal thing… once you are finished you can enjoy your refugee … just trying to help, don’t think forums should be to argue or flame people

Also think that HoT helps casual player (casual player is not the same as bad player) I am casual cause my daily life doesn’t allow me to be for hours playing, sometime I have less than an hour window to play, still consider myself good at it, so difficulty is not an issue…. but yeah helps casual players as allows them to jump into big bosses fights (VB during night time) and chances of good loot (bladed armor, crates, etc) without the need of organized play, balanced teams, chest runs, etc….. just have to wander around and poke things here and there…. the only complaint I have is that if you disconnect can’t come back to map… and if you have to leave before the long 2 hours meta, you don’t get anything even with 200% participation… still get individual quests rewards tho…
So before HoT you had no guild hall and you were happy…… now you have a chance of having a guild hall, but can’t get it …. so having no guild hall now makes you unhappy?
why do you suddenly feel the need for a GH if you don’t like people… just find a cool area to meet and call it a hideout!Well to be fair he did pay a large amount of money for HoT, and I can see how the guild hall is all but impossible to upgrade for all but the largest guilds.
maybe costs of at least the hall should be escalated to the number of members and having to pay some extra for whatever member they want to add! could be a good suggestion….. regardless…I payed a large amount of money for HoT, that didn’t give me the legendaries …don’t feel they owe me tho. but still agree of escalating costs … wait I am agreeing with myself … wth!

Yup, I add up to the initiative, been asking for it for a while
…lets bring back intelligent gameplay!
When you think about it, what has anet actually done lately that has added anything worthwhile or fun to the players gameplay,
A whole expansion !!!!
People wanted more difficult content though they wanted it in a form akin to the Underworld, Deep, FoW, Sorrow, or that place in Torments whose name i forget.
However it’s Anet and instead of making a side map and introducing truly difficult content they decided to go with ruining the game for casuals by forcing the entire GW2 community to to march through what was supposed to be the games equivalent of the underworld.
I think these side maps with enhanced difficulty are what we know as “dungeons”.
Personally like the difficulty progression as it makes us think outside the box or at least look for ways to improve as players…. I understand it’s difficult AT FIRST for newer players or casual ones, but an easy end game would be boring to those that reached their caps…. hardship isn’t bad, what’s the point of having something that everybody else has?
The Underworld wasn’t exactly like a dungeon by GW1 standards and it isn’t quite the same by GW2 standards either. Underworld in Gw1 was a map much like the other places I listed however if you’ve never played GW1 then you wouldn’t know all the maps in that game were instanced. We were only connected through towns and cities with other players. You can only have a full party in any GW1 Map do to the nature of them being instanced.
Underworld and the other places were more akin to an event map by GW2 standards sort of like a precursor to what we see in Orr and HoT maps today. The player limit is no longer there and neither are the trinity elements of GW1 but a map of that difficulty would have still been possible but like in GW1 the entrance should have requirements and of course be off the beaten trail of the main campaign.
I agree, but the author of the thread is complaining how “hard” is the current accessible by towns map… I don’t really see much of a difference as it currently is… only thing is that the story develops in this maps, unlike UW, Forge, etc that was rather optional. I think that’s kinda the point of what he was talking about, author suggested a side map… I suggested a dungeon cause elite area would require organized play to succeed… you don’t go the UW to wander around and run towards waypoints.
This is offical forum, most toxic and offensive part of GW2 community, what did you expect came in here.
It’s funny, if you check the Spanish version of the forum is totally different… not only people like and enjoy the game but also have no problems with the enhanced difficulty… the few that I have seen having problems just ask for tips. … complaining and flaming might be a cultural thing.

HoT PvE meta
http://intothemists.com/guides/6572-hot_meta_ele_condition_damagecc
…super fun, never had so much fun playing the ele, the damage dealt seemed to be higher than my zerg version in the middle term (no high damage spikes) but in return very high damage over time, no need to be aiming most spells which allowed me to switch for water for heals and lightning for cc more often… lots of fun…. the health was no longer an issue, now can roam freely, tank most mobs, soloed decent groups including spider farm 2 veterans at a time with ease and didn’t die fighting bosses… oh yeah also could solo quests such as clearing the bases, killing the worms and planting the bombs… overall …lots of fun, still need to test it on crit immune bosses but on regular ones, was stacking about 9 burns, and 9 bleeds swiftly with glyph of elemental power while soloing elites like arrowhead and the other dinosaur that rams you, (annoying until you switch to cc )
Well, despite the thumbs down, I decided to try it ….it was made on the budget so the whole build was around 7 gold … (could play with wardrobe so it was totally worth it) .. the results…super fun, never had so much fun playing the ele, the damage dealt seemed to be higher than my zerg version in the middle term (no high damage spikes) but in return very high damage over time, no need to be aiming most spells which allowed me to switch for water for heals and lightning for cc more often… lots of fun…. the health was no longer an issue, now can roam freely, tank most mobs, soloed decent groups including spider farm 2 veterans at a time with ease and didn’t die fighting bosses… oh yeah also could solo quests such as clearing the bases, killing the worms and planting the bombs… overall …lots of fun, still need to test it on crit immune bosses but on regular ones, was stacking about 9 burns, and 9 bleeds swiftly with glyph of elemental power while soloing elites like arrowhead and the other dinosaur that rams you, (annoying until you switch to cc

Hello, I am an elementalist too, also casual gamer and had a bit trouble in the beginning for the same fact you mention …squishiness…. heard a lot of complains about zergs and stuff so I kinda decided to make a build specialized for HoT!
http://intothemists.com/guides/6572-hot_meta_ele_condition_damagecc
I have never had so much fun with my ele, can run tank almost every mob around and could solo the spider farm (2 elites at a time) .. soloed most quests as well like killing the wurms and other random things…. the condition damage is great and I dont have to worry if I miss hitting something or not, just stack the conditions and can switch elements to have fun with cc and heals…. just try it out… made the build on the budget… nothing costs more than 1 gold, the whole build was around 7 gold… super fun and I no longer die a lot

holding space bar instead of trying to double tap it helped me lots!
I see, will study it
thanks
on damage department seems great, but for HoT and raids mostly how is this build more sturdy than any other zerg out there?
Idk about this, been an ele all the time and my favorite weapon is the scepter, deals massive spikes of damages (high damage in short time frames) using fire mostly. This doesn’t happen with staffs and don’t feel like going nowhere near melee range with my ele. The trick I guess comes with experience, ….if the target is moving you don’t aim dragon tooth where it is standing, you put it ahead on the target’s path, followed by a phoenix in the back (usually cast during the animation of DT so it hits at the same time… connect it with arcane insta damage spells and almost no mob resists it in core…elites takes about 2-3 rotations and thats it… bosses well, bosses just take some more, but the best damage spike is scepter!
So is the staff the problem? the dire set? or just the general condition damage thing? note that damage doesn’t come from direct hits.
Please rate my build, its more bulky, lots of damage by condition and cc bar breaking.
http://intothemists.com/guides/6572-hot_meta_ele_condition_damagecc
suggestions more than welcomed
I am (was) an ele zerg, even if zerg never had problem with the HoT meta as I can cruise freely and fight boss battles, I admit I die rather often but nothing like yesterday when tried the RAID several times until I gave up, had to concentrate on staying alive most of the time hindering my dps and when on attack …death followed… resulting into later wipe as rez players couldn’t make it to the green zone cause all the crystal builds besides me.
For this I made a more bulky build that could still deal big deal of damage, I would like tho the input of more experienced players to see if is worth to change definitively to dire!
the build is easily seen here…
http://intothemists.com/guides/6572-hot_meta_ele_condition_damagecc
Oh is there a raid forum? sorry for that, will move subject
People are missing the biggest issue of all. Why is playing the game as intended give less and less rewards as you play?
To avoid farming? there’s much to do in the game, they just don’t like you doing the same thing over and over.
Builds Diversify Death of the Berserker

We spent the night testing different builds and tbh we have come to the conclusion that the majority of Comp needs to still be zerk to complete within the time limit. I personally think it was a cruel joke to lead us on that we needed to be more diverse. One free Stat change on our ascended gear would be quite helpful for those of us that bought in and changed from zerk to be more diverse.
I do enjoy the difficulty of raids but I wish they had actually made different builds viable for more then the Healer and “Tank”.
Zerk meta in full swing still
How about boon stripping and condition damage? works quite well
Raids forcing stats on certain classes?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: kuritsutian.2987
I think that more than forcing stats change its forcing a balanced team…. not a revolutionary concept IMO, about the timer, I saw all zerg teams fail yesterday, I think more resilience is needed to endure a long battle with a why not “enraged” boss… reason why I had to get two sets… one for healing and one for condition damage (I’m ele) … we need the SAVE/LOAD template option URGENT … T_T … not saying zergs are not needed tho..dps is needed on balanced teams… just equip some skills to stay alive for longer… I am sure every class has a few….. its easier to run to green areas when theres no need to be rezing people

Completely agree and don’t think the concept is crazy, it exists already in story instances (waypoints)
Same problem here, kinda forces to spam 1 as it gets hard to aim aoe spells or any other position related skill, not to mention hard to know when to dodge if you miss half of the attack animations.
7/10
Content is good, grinding factor contradicts the principles gw2 was advertised for on its origins (probably can be fixed with rewards towards the elite skills via story progression) but not everything should come easily, … love the general design of the events sadly it has great flaws like loosing everything if you get disconnected during an event …and to be fair you should get no reward at all for no participation yet I see chests popping out like a piñata on my screen corner just by being around. probably this big meta events should be instanced separately or something! what kinda keeps me from enjoying the game more is the fps I get while on this new maps full of animations, it gets laggy to the point I cant aim AOE spells properly nor land several of position related skills.
Love for the zergs of HoT -gw1 feature needed
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: kuritsutian.2987
Reading most topics regarding HoT difficulty level I see lots of the answers suggesting that content is not for full Berserk geared players. As a gw1 fan and adept player I disagree with this excuse! you can be a full zerg and still succeed (I know several players have stated that) but I just want to give some love or hints to those that had problems with the crystal builds (regardless of the gear used… a sniper can kill a soldier if they just stand in the fire).
Personally I am a full Berserk ele with only exotic gear and I am able to run trough maguma jungle content thanks to something some players seems to be unfamiliar with called “builds” (without the need of changing gear) … depending on your class, the skills for the running build you need are basically Stability and condition removal/denial and yes …dodge!.
The only problem I face as zerg is having to change builds constantly for fights as some require certain strats reason why I would like to motivate people to ask anet for the save/load build template function to be back (masteries included) … that way you could just dedicate more time to design your strategies and enjoy the game content using the gear you want, if Zerg so be it… don’t feel like a noob for sticking to pure damage ele or dying a few times, feel bad when after several hours of gameplay you have learned nothing from it.
