Well, hate to be that guy but I think small guilds should have it hard… big guilds should grow fast and be powerful, small ones shouldn’t .. and should be hard to unlock high tier options… that’s what a real world guild system would look like.
Sounds good to me

Dulfy has a guide; perhaps, it has a video…I’ve not looked at it.
Good luck.
I looked for videos for about an hour before I gave up and knuckled down on my thief elite…
9 hours to get it to 80% complete on the new maps. It wasn’t hard navigating the maps, the hardest part was waiting for half hour minimum at group event HP for atleast one person to come and help. I have a tag which made things easier.
So at that rate, it should only take about 170 hours to unlock 17 elites… Yay.
Question still stands: Could Elites be account bound?
I just want to WvW and have fun to it’s full potential instead of… This.
9 hours is a bit long. Get somebody who knows what they’re doing and at least 3 people in your group to fight the champs that needs to be killed and assuming you have no HP at all in central tyria. You’ll be done in under 2 hours for each character
Until you get bouncing mushrooms, updrafts and exalted ideally your run is guided by a mesmer who has those masteries and can port you places. But doing 1 HP run will get you a lot of exploration exp. After I think 3 HP runs I had all the required masteries and then some.
Yup, your calculations are right… did a speed run with my guildmates… 2 hours to get the elite.. that is without using the waypoints.
So in a distant ideal future, every profession will be able to use every weapon? o .. #eleForever

Yeah, kinda should be like you mention, like tomes in gw1 ….
on the other hand as a funny note, you had the time to lvl 17+ toons to lvl 80 how can you claim tediousness!?
But… but… but …
I meant it as a boss ….. —pouts--
Wouldn’t be the first time to be called that … and I am a guy >.>
Aww sadly I expected this thread to be about being able to choose a faction to represent …maybe to fight against the frogs or take sides with the plants and engage in some sort of mixed pve-pvp activity … —kicks a soda can--
they need a brood mother!
Edit: Let’s start a pocket raptors fan club
Anyway I think they need to start over with most of Tempest, beginning with Rebound and Warhorn, they both are terribly worthless.
What? I was on the contrary afraid they would Nerf them!
Maybe they are too niche specific, but game kinda suggest you to change builds accordingly and not keep a single build all the time. For example when I play auramancer support on PvE I like staff for area heals, but on WvW warhorn all the way! just the squall alone is enough reason as everything that provides magnetic Aura…there’s also pulls, the air damage, massive aoe size with the fire field that can be placed on doors, etc….
As of rebound IMHO is a great skill, maybe too role specific, but on WvW its great on escape situations and quite useful in HoT PvE … axemasters, snipers, spores, you name it
Any specific time + timezone for this?
Nice way to showoff toons! :P
full doesn’t mean of players doing the event besides mega servers makes the game slow, that’s why they had to instance maps I believe
I think it is very difficult to solve.
The Megaserver is trying to merge maps to keep populations up but cannot know whet each player wants to do in the map (farm/event/raid etc).
At the same time the players are using the lfg tool to taxi/hop between maps.
It’s no wonder it does not work so well. And merging maps and keeping event progression is tricky.
thats why I suggest a way to measure who wants to play it, by participation percentage!
GW1 way to capture skills from bosses was awesome! different game tho
I understood grinding by the time the manifesto was released as leveling by doing repetitive stuff such as killing mobs/farming/etc. (on that point of view, farming mats is not grinding as there’s several ways to get them … time consuming != grinding, some stuff might be grindy as the specific time gated items that are obtained in certain places once per day, but its not repetitive per se
Hello, I know I am not a game developer….yet(jokes) .. but lots of peeps complain about maps being empty/meta failing cause people is doing other things/lack of lfg functionality/fake wishful taxis, … you name it … kinda came with a very simple solution that doesn’t involve much development (apparently).
The idea is to extend/change the map merge algorithm… currently if in an empty map it asks you if want to volunteer to a more populated map. To solve the problem it would be beneficial to suggest/force a chance of map to those players/teams with participation towards the meta events and put them together on servers with high number of players with participation and put the remaining into the “other” servers … for this to work tho they have to fix the bug of loosing all progression when switching servers… also the map change prompt should be active only during short downtime between the event transitions.
What you guys think? hopefully some real dev come across this and gets the idea (feel free to capitalize it as its own :P more than credits I want hours of fun)
Oh yeah, it’s quite flashy but yeah doesn’t come with a back skin, you get some back skins later on playing the story…they are quite cool but lacks the blingBling
TLDR; I want the new end-game stuff NOW and I also don’t wanna work much for them.
Useless and off-topic.
Useless and off-topic… so is this..
The solution is for Anet to up the rewards and modify the difficulty so that it is on par with the other 3 Meta events. It is silly that killing an Elder Dragon is extremely easy and yet killing some large Chak is very difficult. Maybe the Chak should strive for world domination. They are obviously the most powerful species in the world.
This is the thing that bugs me a bit too. Another example:
1. I kill Zhaitan & Mordremoth = get two greens and a blue. (ok, its not that bad, but still).
2. I kill raid bosses that ARE NOT as powerful or dangerous as Elder Dragons, they are not even Elder Dragons Champions = I get Legendary Armor (or stuff towards it at least).
Logically, killing an Elder Dragon should give the best loot in the game.
Totally agree!
Can you imagine the RAGE if they made Mordremoth and Zhaitan raid bosses so they were indeed the hardest boss in the game?
Kinda more like a lore thing … them being harder would make sense …. and yeah you right, haters gotta hate… yet I like the sense of saving the world thing… like giving a real reward like and ascended gear for killing it the first time only… been done before when finishing the story and all…. but this is getting offtopic
Is it possible to use the Heart of thorns glider skin as a back piece, I don’t think you can why is this other back pieces can be displayed, why not the best one?
which one is the best one? … gliders and backpacks have different skins ….. yet there are matching ones that you get in the gemstore, but they are limited (wings mostly) but that makes sense.
for wvw I use dagger/warhorn as tempest … perma swiftness + aura support with shouts and heals …
Pocket raptors are probably my favourite critter in the jungle. The more the merrier, I say.
I actually wouldn’t mind a pocket raptor adventure, where you got to play as your character and just faced an unending horde of them. That would be so much fun.
Or we turn into raptors to go mortify the revenants out there :P

I would say Hero Points, those bosses can be pesky but defeating them in small groups are certainly fun
I hope this will be addressed soon, the expansion is so beautiful and requires so many cool combat tactics that are hard to perform on low fps rates
would be nice to to hire “companions” at the tavern
love the raptors cute little squishy things…. yes I am an ele xD
Too true! In Maguuma, it’s I swung my sword, I swung my sword again, I swung my sword again, I swung my sword again, I swung my sword again, I swung my sword again, I swung my sword again, I swung my sword again, come on… still not dead?
Followed by wait… I was full health and I dodged! How’d that Axemaster insta-down me?
lol that’s cause you’ve been doing nothing but swinging the sword, kinda need defensive skills sometimes :P
9. So fractals? Currently not worth it in terms of rewards. But at least they will fix it @ december for which I am grateful <3
Do you have information about what’s going to be fixed? can you or someone else point me to the list or something?…please
hmm, maybe I should start selling the random mats I have hoarded without needing them atm … T_T
…after 2 years of gameplay I only got 15 gold …. (yes, not a dungeon/fractal frequent) … then discovered Halloween’s lab … and got 100 g …. …then crafting 67 g -_- … where am I supposed to get gold? should I become a farmer?
For me big part of the fractals are a big jP
Vayne’s offer is a good one.
I suspect many folks first HoT experience was like mine. You go in there on your own, following the story which quickly abandons you with “earn gliding to continue”. So you need XP but struggle to find much, because the first mobs you meet are way too strong and because you can’t find your way round the map to unlock stuff, not to mention the many different ways to die by falling off stuff. Then an event starts so you start following a random player, only for him to bounce out of sight on a mushroom you can’t use yet. Somewhere else a player jumps off a ledge and glides out of your reach. All very exciting but not earning you any XP. Then you find some plants you can’t use and some stuff you can’t open and then, just when you are feeling really useless, you get mullered by a midget dressed in a mushroom outfit. And no-one rezzes you. Welcome to HoT, have a nice day hehe.
I suspect there might be quite a few players yet to earn enough HoT XP for that first gliding ability.
I would try to help them how to get the first “doable” mastery point… by burning branches… there’s an easy way and is to go top right away to a “secret” location … but yeah, sadly most of the time is unavailable due to meta events
I tried WvW recently and feels more like a farming PvE area … farming because I found it very rewarding.. since the lack of players it’s very unlikely to find resistance to take an area… you just need a small group of peeps, some cheap blue prints.. and have the snowball take over half the map …. lots of rewards given, better than hours of PvE content.
T1 server here, used to spend at least 20-30mins a night in queues for random borderlands on Guild Raids, now every map is open to jump in any time I like, EB I might need to wait 10mins on reset. It’s desolate.
yeah that’s what I am saying… hence I called it another PvE area for farming… doesn’t mean game is dead, … WvW is neglected atm…that’s all… not dead tho.

That’s a nice offer, a guildie did it for me and kinda went beyond duty by taking me to all HP points ….we end up going all the way to Dragon Stands and fighting the big lizard :o …. had fun and didn’t feel hard at all… your offer is more like “I will teach you how to play, right?” .. wish I had had that one… took me a bit to realize about the tiers things and day time/ night time … how to reach the bosses (canopy) etc… …it’s easy if you watch videos and guides … but never liked those, …like to discover things by myself and have the sense of marvel when I discover some secret passage leading to a chest (like the ones before waterfalls etc in core) …
I am not really surprised by 3.1 million number after the expansion, but am a little bit surprised by the 1.5 million active monthly users before free to play.
Ah, but that begs the question – exactly when GW2 had 1.5 active monthly users. In a month preceding HoT? At some holiday/LS events? Just after some of the biggest price cuts on the core? Or was that the peak number for the whole time since launch? Was that including China in calculations, or not? How many of those were alt accounts?
Who knows?
Regardless, active players are very likely to buy the expansion… I buy them no matter how good or bad they for the only reason to not have restriction or having less capabilities as other players do (falling behind) … my point being, in my opinion game doesn’t feel dead at all … there’s heaps of locked maps … even core areas have players… (feel like more than before HoT) and most players should be on HoT maps… and feels like they are… the fact that you find an empty map doesn’t mean there’s heaps of full ones…. even that happened before HoT, … people say there’s less people in dungeons…due to the nerf…probably.. but nerf was necessary HoT or not.
Edit: Only area that seems to have less players is WvW … probably people playing PvE content first, …. maybe the new maps… who knows… but once scribes reached max levels…. people will be wanting to use those things and population might be restored.
(edited by kuritsutian.2987)
I suspect its more like a memory management issue, after playing 4 hours straight, I get 1 frame every 2 seconds unplayable, ….. restart pc and and fps is fair again…..(still not as smooth as core)
Eyes of the North:
- 41 new armor sets, including rare, stand-alone pieces
- 100 new profession-specific skills (10 per profession, none of which are elite)
- 50 new PvE only skills including 3 elite skills
- 10 new heroes
- 18 Dungeons
- 124 new questsAnd the list goes on. What took ANet today two and a half year to release a half-kittened DLC pack with four maps gated hourly and by masteries, eight years ago it took them significantly less to introduce three full campaigns and a full-fledged expansion.
ANet today isn’t the same as the old one anymore. It is now at best a pitiful attempt at cash grabbing, feeding on the mouth of gem whales and milking the former glory of what GW1 was. Leeching the old ANet, even.
Point taken !
Seriously? Every HoT maps are at least 2-3 times the land mass of core Tyria maps(…)
Let’s say they are 3 times the land mass of Tyria maps.
Three times larger across four maps equals the amount of content in Tyria? Did you willing eat the pile of kitten on your plate that you ordered, or was it spoon fed to you?
As a consumer that paid full retail value for Guild Wars 2 when it launched, and as a consumer that paid full retail value yet again when Heart of Thorns launched — I am disappointed. Perhaps they’ll add much more that will make Heart of Thorns worthy of being called an expansion rather than a DLC. You’ll have to excuse the disappointment until the value of the product is worth what it cost.
Worth being called an expansion..imho yes …. worth the full price? $50 ….. not quite sure … probably $30 or so.. but who am I to say… they threw the bait…. fishes went for it…
Just play a heavy class, they can take 3 times the damage and do as much damage as the light classes anyway.
They are not as sexy tho… #eleForever
We had end game progression given too us
We got raids(Yes, we got raids, but one could argue that “end game progression” is worse now with HoT, because there isn’t any meaningful way to gear up for those raids.
There are no reliable sources for ascended drops in the game, and now that dungeons and fractals are nerfed, it’s harder to earn the cash to craft ascended, too. For a player who’s new to the game, how are they supposed to acquire ascended gear to raid? For other players, who may have been around a while, but never bothered to level crafting — because it wasn’t needed — they are way behind the 8-ball now. So, players who geared up pre-HoT are able to get into raid groups, but people who didn’t have no clear path to do so.
This “end game challenging content” wasn’t well thought-out. Sure, provide the challenging content, but also provide a way to skill up and gear up for it. And we got neither. Very poor design, IMO.
I think everyone jumped into HoT with core gear…. unless that person started after HoT means (s)he skipped core content…. have played for years and still not fully ascended…. I run in exotic, makes not much difference …. not pretending to do raids yet tho….
They didn’t reinvent the wheel and call it content. They said, that this expansion would be lighter on content while they set up the game for future expansion so they could move the game forward.
That’s what was said. That’s what they did.
In other words, they asked us to pay for the gateway to more Living Story and called it a light expansion. And people got happy because they heard the word ‘expansion’, so it silenced the expansion crowds’ demands for it.
But in truth, all we did was pay for delayed Living World content which would’ve been free otherwise.
Good to know.
Apart from:
We got maps (4) all bigger than living world
Every map we GOT was much bigger than the LS ones
We had end game progression given too us
We got raids
We got access to an ENTIRE new CLASS
all the various points I stated in my above post.HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY THIS. LOOK AT LS AND LOOK AT HoT. HoT BLATANTLY GIVES SO MUCH MORE TO US THAN LS!!!!!
Call me a fanboy but to be honest I’m tired of all these meaningless complaints
Fanboy!
yay again .. this time is missing guild halls, and elite specs!

So right…. —ashamed--
Still going at this?
— prepares for bashing … joke xD
Welcome to the jungle!
plays ACDC song
maybe most of them are done with the first maps and moving progressively to latest ones, dragon outpost seems more rewarding
It gives us 4 maps
YES!
It gives us loads of story
Nope
It gives us raids “which take a lot of time”
Hell YES!
The maps it gives us each have three layers
Yeah!
It gives us elite specialisations
“Specializations” … and yes! kinda the deal maker!
It basically gives us a whole new layer of progression.
Towards what? meh things!
I think that is quite a lot of content if you ask me.
And you missed the OP new class!!! also badarze looking.
-and finally have places worth calling endzones! … the bosses and mob designs are amazing!
