does anyone recommend something specific that looks good on a human male?
Human Male? what’s that?
Is Beserker Warrior now Meta for the raids?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: kuritsutian.2987
Was the kill so fast because of the profession mechanics or the raid mechanics per se?
Like, was the player composition all that great, or was just the profession so strong by that much?
If you changed 2-3 warriors for, say, 2-3 heralds, could they do the same?
we all have to ask that questions before assuming something. It is a speed kill, but only one. Can others achieve that with different scenarios?
You have to consider synergy of teams, this is quite hard to balance because the possible combination are absurdly high, only time reveals this kind of emergent behavior and addressing it with nerfs will more likely hurt the class individually rather to fix the situation. I blame group buff mechanics but kinda can’t do much against them, maybe capping the buffs received, idk.
Bump and +1 … definitively would help
I used to love her ….. feel, but she turned cold and dry, monotony is taking over and love is fading into melancholy of the past.
P2W isn’t in this game.
There is an advantage for those with elite specs over those without… requirement to win, maybe not, but an advantage it is.
I think the design is genius, most people won’t understand tho.
10K drinks will guarantee constant demand on them, so instead of injecting gold to the game (liquid gold on gifts) they fixed the distribution of the gold currently existing in the game (people with lots of gold buying the drinks) from those that sell and are in need of it. Add to it karma conversion to gold without generating more gold.. basically a karma sink.
+1 Right about that! sold the one I got from gifts and kinda regretting it >.<
I enjoy the up-skirt view on characters, usually check all the angles to disappointment, yet adds some flavor to it. —slurp--
^Joke
Worst clipping comes usually from backpacks and back weapons, focus and warhorns alse clip a lot on womby skirts …I am looking at you masquerade leggings :L —slurp--
If it was against an ele, maybe an earth shield would daze you.
Replace signet of fire with Glyph of Elemental Power: No cast time, more burns (even outside fire) and is a stun breaker.
This look similar to a prototype I’ve been working on. But it was put to the side in favor of marauder tempest.

Great advice, will try it tonight and see if it’s really as bad as you guys think… tried it already on 1v1 with a friend and works pretty well… on a team… it’s to be seen.
You will die 0.5s in this build, do I see correctly, you have only 2 cleanse in this build evasive arcana and water 5?
You will experience horrible deaths with this build, like rally robot bad.
You’ll cast water 5 whenever you dodge while attuned to water for both aoe heals and cleanse
In a rush… but this.
finding multiple ways to introduce gold sinks
Pretty sure not a gold sink, lots of beverages are generated constantly and all the gold goes somewhere (I’ve got my fair share so far) so if something gold is being generated rather than being sunk.
Just note that there’s more to dealing damage than dealing damage… in the Vacuum.. pure damage builds excel, … but when what you are attacking fights back active attacking uptime affects the average dps by a lot (meaning can’t attack while you are trying to recover some health or even worst when you are down).
and yes, I agree. which is why my power build isn’t full berserker/zealot’s. I added a little bit of marauder’s/celestial for just enough defense that I don’t get one-shotted.
but the cool thing about d/f fresh air is the attacking uptime is basically 100%. Most of the defensive options are instant. Swapping from air to another element to use a defensive skill actually increases dps thanks to fresh air and electric discharge. and obsidian flesh, magnetic wave, arcane shield, and water trait triggers are all instant. and burning speed evades while doing damage
also my condition build is very defensive. moreso than full celestial
That’s great! kinda what I was looking for.. I am currently using a mixture of dire/celestial for the same purpose as celestial set kinda takes a while to build. (almost done) but in general works great … how does the mix works on high level fractals?
Hopefully in January?
I run + 100% burning duration on my condition build
15 stacks is pretty normal, 20+ happens but is rare
You beat me to it, was about to add that the value is subjective now with all the viper runes.
Edit:
The important note here I guess is… yes there is damage loss, for both power / condi … but you gain in functionality without having a total power creep … (nothing new since celestial eles are a thing) … Just note that there’s more to dealing damage than dealing damage… in the Vacuum.. pure damage builds excel, … but when what you are attacking fights back active attacking uptime affects the average dps by a lot (meaning can’t attack while you are trying to recover some health or even worst when you are down).

might cap is 25
there is no cap on damaging conditions
Yes 25 for might!! ..sorry for that… and cap on burning is 1500 …but you are very likely to reach a fake cap of 10 counting that duration ends before you get to apply more.
Hello, Sorry for coming up with so many builds but I keep seeing lots of people complaining about tempest being a boring class to play … I think the boredom problem comes when you limit yourself to that some call meta builds.
Tempest (and all specializations) being so young means not everything is being said, there’s a lot of room for experimentation and the constant usage of premade builds won’t help the meta to avoid getting stuck in a local max … only diversity can help us from that problem…
That being said here is a tempest build that features a very active play style … Rolls (Dodge).
What is the idea? Dodging
In this build when you dodge, you also apply aoe blindness (while on fire/air) for extra evasion, and get a guaranteed critical for an extra blind+burn. Add the fact that both build vigor making multiple dodges possible if spaced right when combining with blinds. When in a pinch switch to water attunement for roll healing + condition renewal, remember all your auras grant regeneration and vigor, and if shut your opponent gets weakness.
Playing this build is fun! just dodge everything you see that hurts while stacking burning to your enemy in the process, your opponent will very likely run out of rotations faster than you will or be forced to relieve some burning just for you to apply it later for free.
What’s the problem of using a tempest as D/D? surely aura/overloads are not limited for bunkers.
Edit: Check this idea of vigorous D/D .. for those that like an active gameplay… roll, roll, roll ..lol

Wintersday=Halloween=More gold for me
You know how it goes!
Oh boy, where to start…—deep breath—
Lightning whip is 1.26/s, lightning hammer auto is 3.5/2.85s.
That’s coefficient/s. Which makes lightning whip better dps than lightning hammer.
Difference is about 3%. That’s not counting dps gain from burning speed, or dps loss from casting lightning hammer, added dps/utility from having an extra free utility skill slot. Besides, lightning whip has a much larger range. In the end you’ll end up behind d/x in pretty much every way.
Hammer comes with other nice skills besides 1 tho, the lightning storm alone is high dps + stats increased by just holding the hammer.
definitively …. the Mouse!
Jokes… well I usually level on WvW until I can keep playing the personal story (I know is sad) … so pick weapon depending on the role you want to play… if you are rather beginner, I would recommend you staff so you can clean the walls while on a zerk, while nuking from range.
(edited by kuritsutian.2987)
Yup, very similar to a build I posted few days ago!
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vFEQJBLhdSfJ00A2fJYABwhJWGAM3Vbrd2GEAiANAhMQF4EA-TxRBABU8AAuS5He6BqZ/BAOBAUq+jZKBDAcA8bfDglXe5lXe5+93f/93fDA-e
I would recommend you to use harhorn instead of offhand dagger for only two reasons raw dps of lightning orb, and might stacking on fire atonement (fire field+overload fire and heat sync).
OP: I really feel you. I made a post about this earlier:
My advice is don’t give up on cele.. Building it is a slow process, the wintersday event quite helps a lot (chance to get charged quartz from gifts) but notice that if you play HoT you get a warhorn and a shoulder with cele stats…
So what I did, and think was a good choice was to keep my (zerk/dire) armor and start adding the cele pieces slowly as it combines just great (keep your damage output as you get bulkier/more supportive) …. Problem with cele is thatyou have to craft it by yourself … by chance I found an amulet with celestial stats “Oontz’s Necklace of the Ghoul” on the Halloween bags… but besides that the only viable option is to get the trinkets from vendors (ascended ones) while you finish crafting your gear… hope this helps…
Also note the price drop of quartz thanks to wintersday (from 10 silver to 2 silver )
Great Ideas on all comments, Ill try the new runes suggested as well …. so far I was playing it this weekend for good results!
what I can tell is:
-Traveler rune helped when I was out of Air attunement but was not essential as the overloads granted swiftness. Still useful when chasing someone while wielding the earth shield or escaping on water atonement while healing (yet you got auras) so can live without the rune.
-Earth shield was definitively a great addition… cc turns into damage spikes
-Tornado
… Yes, was good driving players outside the cc, dealt damage as well BUT… locked me out of the skill set … so what they did was to dps me from range lowering my life having to flee or die.
.. will try the new rune with rebound. I tried fiery sword but that kinda makes me go fully offensive losing lots of cc, I like to use it on other builds tho
definitely losing out on more damage than you think, for two reasons
first of all, the power damage stats multiply each other. Ex: the less precision you have, the less the ferocity you have is helping you
And the other is that a power ele and a condition ele play very differently. When I play condi build, I’ll do a rotation that quickly stacks up 15+ stacks of burning, and most of that involves moves that do almost no power damage. And conversely, when I use my power build, I get very few stacks of damaging conditions, since air nets the most power damage. My solution was to throw in some healing power and support traits (or a LOT of healing power on the condi build, since it can afford to without losing a lot of damage, as condi ele only uses one stat for damage, other than condition duration which caps easily). I traited water, and mixed in some zealot’s gear with my zerker, and used apothecary’s/shaman’s instead of dire (unfortunately no condition damage primary sets exist that also have healing power). Still takes two builds, but each feels pretty versatile, and it’s better than needing 3 or 4 gear sets
Yes, healing+condi was a good approach I tried as well, but was loosing a lot on armor and lifepoints, also noticed that combining specialized is not as effective as using armors that are already combined (more points to distribute) … as of the damage loss calculations, they were taking into account the multiplication that you mention (critical chance x critical damage) and the loss for criticals was the most considerable loss of all 40% damage is a lot but that damage is if left alone and only using power attacks… that’s where mixed damage comes into play … as you mention affected by playstyle or build. For that I mentioned you have to adjust the build if you want an specific role. if you want to dps you are right, air alone won’t be as effective, you’ll have to focuss more on mixed damage, so fire trait kinda becomes a must (burning on criticals+fury on auras). ..Feel the burn shout, etc. Notice that power damage still deal damage, less but compensates for the condi damage attribute loss on cele.
Also believe the cap of burning is 10, and might is 15. You can reach both by overloading fire on a fire field while shouting.
Rebound should also honor its name by also doubling remaining time of boons and auras <optional> and recharge conjured weapons charges.
Oh :o earth shield would be a good addition to the build instead of glyph of storms… good for holding the position+cc+lightning rod damage … glad I posted it here.
An elite that I think is missing and I would like to see:
Signet of Might: (X, Y, Z to be estimated by balancing team, <optional>)
– Passive: Grants X stacks of might
- Active: For Y seconds attacks deal an extra Z percent of damage <and ignore armor>.
Hello, I noticed all builds I see about tempest are mostly tank/support … don’t see many pvp roaming oriented builds … also hard to see “Lightning Rod builds” so for kick and funs decided to create the “True tempest” as for the bringer of storms…
The Idea here is to go for max capture points on pvp
To do so, the build rely on.
- Speed (Sephyr speed + rune of the traveler)
- Team support (normal for auramancer)
- Heavy pressure on area/capture point (Normal for staff …BUT Adding functionality that allows us to stay in the capture point while driving enemies away with extra damage thanks to Lightning Rod + Gust/Overload/static fields/Tornado)
Here is the build
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vFAQFAWn0XCVYi9XCGRAsSglHAzdyeZ/sDngMQHUIAcAahA-TJBCABA8AAG+CA43+DcVGAA
Any comment/suggestion/addition please … kinda tired of seeing only wintersday topics on forums… PvP has a track towards getting presents… so good chance to have some fun there.
Edit: Replaced glyph of storms for Conjure earth shield.

It’s harmless snow throwing winter fun o.o nobody has to die >.<
From release notes!
-Friend of the Owl Spirit can now be earned be completing the event “Protect the owl spirits from Jormag’s minions” again after collecting Friend of the Owls.
You can also overload and conjure weapons for extra auras.
50 gifts are only given on first completion if I am not wrong
Yup, as a tip I recommend you to adjust camera rotation speed to a higher value, try doing the linear parts in one go so you can take your time on turns (some paths have more than others)
Just saying…. imagine what would happen if you open a stack of gifts with the use all option…. encumbered will have a new meaning!
Toooddaaayyy xD
Any idea what’s an estimate drop rate on gifts outside the event area?
So, was checking the release notes for Dec 15 patch and noticed we are actually being heard! …obviously not all individual oriented demands but most reasonable ones were attended, not only bug fixing (heaps of them) but change in mechanics! here is what I mean
-The average gold value of opening Cracked Fractal Encryptions has increased
-Scribing costs for WvW claiming and guild siege equipment have been adjusted to be less expensive.
-Guild Storage has been updated to now show helpful tooltips
-Changed guild hall decoration placement to be more permissive
Those are the ones I remember were suggested here in the forums… kinda happy for that and take this chance to as for …
Save/Load build functionality please :P
Thanks!
Edit: also add this.

I like the PvP snow mode, cc to the fullest :P
I don’t think the Op problem is about difficulty or aptitude/attitude towards the JP … she gets motion sickness by playing them …I used to had that with old 3d games and it is really annoying..to the point you have to completely stop … that’s kind of a hinder nor a see the solution … maybe some pills but that’s irresponsible lol
Toooddaaayyy! lol
Try looking in the bank, on the skins sections… Found “Some” of the old skins that I had as minis but like you once deleted. Maybe that helps, otherwise, I feel your pain -_-
Please patch to 100 drinks at most! 10,000 (800ish gold) is absolutely insane! It clearly needs to go down by at least a factor of 100.
10K is a factor of 100:
100×100=10K
The requirement is high, but that will make me look up to those who got it … all methods I see are either…. buy the drinks from TP ..T_T too expensive, …then I see the …I need to open 330 gifts per day …T_T too grindy.
I think combining both is not as bad, I played yesterday for about an hour and got around 100 gifts + 15 personal ones. … witout having to make gw2 a second job, you can easily enjoy the content and get most of the stuff (most people loved playing Halloween labyrinth over and over for the gold).. don’t see the difference here… I am more concerned about beating the jumping puzzle… that will make me flip some tables but I can’t refuse a good challenge
… no offense but there’s already an army of cheaper good looking options in the gem store …. Now to be fair, there should be a low tier reward skin for winters day, like the silly hats back in the day… at the end everyone had them and the true value was only visible over time.
There’s always a chance to reduce the cost by playing Winter’s event … not all has to be black or white, … (Grind/Gold sink) … combining both makes it easier for those who really want the cosmetics. ..oh but wait… it would take time tho… → no longer viable ever..lol

Capitalism vs Communism 101
You can do “consume all” to use a stack at a time.
(And check the forum to see if someone else has posted about it)
Consuming it is not the problem, its acquiring it.
I can repeat the JP three times and i get a collection item .
I can win the snowball mayhem three times and get a collection item
But this collection which basically should be at the same level requires 10k drinks = 500-600 g or 333 drinks per day if we assume event last 30 daysSomething is wrong here
hmmm I saw this post somewhere else… anyways, if it’s like Halloween one it’s not biggie, lol jokes, still a huge deal :P … not impossible tho
