I noticed last night that the site address was in the guild message.
I find path 1 to be the easiest in the game, with path 2 not far behind it. 3 still isn’t difficult, just more time consuming. The end boss is very easy, just.takes a while.
I personally found CoF story to be harder than exploreable.
Thankfully, I’ve managed to not turn to the darkside after much abuse from elitists who always want to finish content a specific way and with specific group compositions.
But then I’m not really hungry for gold. I’m not rich but then I’ve got 4 lvl 80s most of which have 2-3 exotic builds to swap to. No legendaries, one half-ascended. I tend to play the game for the fun and challenge, not to get the goodies at the end. I’m actually confused why people are so bent on amassing gold. Yeah, sometimes I do farm so I can convert gold into gems for purchases I don’t want to spend real cash on, but beyond that, why bother? For legendaries? But they’re not all that legendary. I’ve seen too many people walking around with Sunrise, Bolt, Dreamer, etc to consider it ‘special’. Not worth grinding to the point I’m hating on people’s skill/playstyle/profession choice.
I’m grinding gold for a legendary because I like the skin. I don’t necessarily consider it special nor do I see legendaries as giving prestige. I just like to make my character look pretty! However, I’ll not take the mackiavellian route of the end justifies the means to get there. I’ll get there on my own time and have fun doing it.
You all are misinterpreting this post anyways. Seems to me he/she is saying that elitist/perfectionist turned him into one. Seriously people, try to read between the lines. Most of you are totally missing the point here. I for one see it… kitten I am glad I ain’t an elitist or perfectionist. I just enjoy whats left of the kitten game.
Seems you were the only person that didn’t get it. What you did was take his post at face value. Everyone else was able to read between the lines.
He says he became an elitist because other elitists were treating him badly. Ignoring the hypocrisy in just that, try to look at what he was saying he was kicked a dozen times for. If you learn to read between the lines, you’ll see he was trying to join groups that want certain specifics when he did not have those specifics. There are plenty of groups doing the same content that do not ask for specifics, those are who he should have joined.
Furthermore, if you read between the lines, you’ll realize English is most likely not his native language, there is a bit of a language barrier going on. This is most likely what led him to joining the wrong groups and led him to believe he was being kicked for the wrong reasons.
Then he turns around, learning all the wrong lessons, and propels those wrong lessons at innocent bystanders.
Next time, try reading between the lines a little.

People mostly like having a full zerker group for CoF 1. There may be other areas where a full zerker group will work, but with a lesser success rate.
Lesser success rate? unless we’re talking about high lvl FOTM, there isn’t much content where having a party with ton of zerk warriors would be bad. And in the case of FOTM you’d just replace 2 war with 2 guard and still keep 2 wars and do well.
I don’t really make war only group myself for regular dungeon runs, only CoF farming, but by curiosity I recently joined an Arah run where the guardian who invited me wanted a really, really quick run before reset, and asked only for warriors. We only got warriors, beside that one guardian. The run went perfectly well and Lupicus died rather quickly compared to most of my arah (pug) runs so I’d say it was a success.
All those people who hate on zerk wars are just reenacting The Fox and the Grapes.
I wasn’t hating on zerk warriors, I have a zerk warrior. It’s a fact that the main place people want full zerk warriors is CoF 1. Like I said this setup will also work in other places, however with a lower success rate. This is also fact. Basically anyone in the game can run 5 zerker warriors through CoF 1. Not everyone in the game can run 5 zerker warriors through Arah, thus lower success rate. Also the fact that you had a guardian changes the composition. Guardians can easily take all aggro from Lupi and survive it, I do it all the time. I have a bit harder time surviving constant aggro from Lupi on my warrior. But even with 5 zerk warriors, obviously it can be done, however with a lower success rate compared to CoF 1. Pretty simple.
I don’t understand why only Zerker gear when that isn’t always the best gear. A good team should have a good mix of gear as Clerics and Knights to name a few others could potentially help kill safer and with using less resources, while putting out almost identical damage numbers.

At least some of those CoF1 farm groups are planning to do multiple runs. Such groups are likely farming gold, not tokens.
This. Also if you’re in zerker gear but end up with non-zerkers, you can’t get full dps in. You’ll take too much damage and have to back off or die. The super speed runs only work if everyone is high dps.

Basically the whole idea that you’ve been kicked a dozen times sounds pretty ridiculous. If this is true, then the problem is you. Possibly communication issues where you’re trying to join zerker speed runs without zerker gear or 20-30+ fractals without ascended gear. Sure, there are jerks out there that kick people for bad reasons. But if you’ve been kicked over a dozen times, the problem is you.
I hang out with enjoyable people and meet new enjoyable people all the time. I put the few jerks I meet on the block list, pretty simple. This little tirade is simply a reflection of your own attitude, not the community.

It makes sense, otherwise it will be pointless to gain level in fractals. Might as well suggest Anet to scrap the whole levelling thingy. Now everyone (including noobs) can challenge any level from 1-50 and get the rewards. So yeah, let’s not even spend more time in the game anymore, because you know, that’s what MMOs are – they need to find ways to keep you in game longer.
On another note, why bother with character levels? Now everyone has a generic “infinity” level and when you go to a map you are levelled to that map’s level (much like it is now). Why all the equipments requirement? Let’s scrap them!
Level infinity means a noob who just joined a game can straight away use lvl 80 exotics or ascended items and be done with it! Yay!
Lol, exactly. Just start us off fully geared, max level, put us in a dungeon with pros that already know it by heart and pull us through. At the end we get a legendary weapon and a big gold star saying “You’ve mastered GW2!”.
Really, it’s not that bad, I find it fun. I don’t even run fractals once everyday and I have 2 characters at scale 30. Just invest a little time and you’ll have more rings, PFR’s and shards than you know what to do with. You might even get a fractal weapon, meet some cool people and have some fun along the way.

I have experience to set up a free website w/ events scheduling. Basically, legitimate members of the guild have to re-apply to the website so they have full access to calendar’s event. In there, they can initiate their own request & time. Members who want to group w/ that individual posting comment under that event to specify their wish to participate with that particular run. But I’m an old fashion guy, so I will only set up the website if Obal or Kumakichi gives me the go.
But it’s also my experience that regardless of the website events are in place, people just do not use it. They all want everything instantly like instant messenger. Heck, human nature. I want it and I want it now.
I definitely like the idea. However sometimes my schedule can be a bit erratic. I’d hate to commit to a time and not be able to make it. Luckily I found a pretty steady group within the guild that I’ve been running with, including you SkyChef.
Maybe if there were something similar to the gw2lfg format, that lists people ready to go now “I want it and I want it now!”. Setting my icon to lfg doesn’t necessarily work all the time because while I’m waiting for people to run Arah, I might do something in a group. I’m willing to try whatever you come up with though. I plan on getting them tokens indefinitely.
That sounds like it defeats the purpose of not using gw2lfg, but I like using people from the guild as they’ve all basically consented that they aren’t elitist jerks simply by joining the guild. Everyone so far has been very affable. Sometimes someone goofs up a little, I hate when a group falls apart after this because someone is way too upset about it. I’ve had this experience with gw2lfg a couple times and it’s very annoying because we could easily just pick up where we left off and get it done. But that one person just needs to be a jerk and pull the team apart.
So some people get a pug going with some low level characters to do a dungeon. Then proceed to be called elitist by someone who says he will not take anyone who is not an experienced 80. That’s weird…

I agree with Iaharl, dont force them to nerf yet more loot from mobs at the start of dungeons/fractals…
Plus considering 1 Shard=9 Vials. I don’t even waste my time killing mobs I don’t have to below scale 20. Vials and Globs aren’t worth the time.
Any members here in the guild who want to run path 3 daily (or even twice) or path 2 daily? Even at peak hours with 40+ members on, hardly anyone is changing their icon status to lfg. I still have to resort to PUGs to do my daily runs.
I’m usually avaiable nights PST, sometimes during early afternoon as well.
I’ve been having a hard time finding groups as well. I think some people in the guild just needed one run for Dungeon Master, so now they’re done. I turn on my looking for group tag, but then usually end up doing some CoF or fractals, which turns the tag off. Whisper me if I’m on, I’ll probably go as soon as I’m out of the dungeon I’m currently in.
Just do 20+ fractals. Before you know it you’ll have more shards than you know what to do with. Plus you you’ll have all the other reward just from doing the fractals.

Because when low pop servers have overflow issues, it can then be considered conceivable that guesting isn’t the biggest issue. By putting such a large carrot on these bosses is forcing a lot of players on their own servers to run the same content at the same time as everyone else. So now instead of 30 zones, PvP, Dungeons to spread everyone out (and give the perception of a ghost town) you are linking a time to 20 specific areas in the entire game, where a lot of people from said server are going to.
The fact that lower pop servers are getting overflows can also be partly blamed on guesting. By putting such a large carrot on these bosses is forcing a lot of players on all servers to run the same content at the same time as everyone else on whichever server has a dragon. So now instead many servers to spread everyone out, you are linking a time to a few specific servers in the entire game, where a lot of people from other servers are going to.
Of course guesting is part of the blame. I happen to be on at a popular time. I generally have 2-3 hours per week night. If I see a dragon will be up soon on another server, I’m going there. As will many people, and during prime times the lucky servers that have a dragon up will undoubtedly get more guests. Thus pushing natives into overflow if they arrive too late. People from many servers are piling into a single server that has a dragon ready to go.

Seems some people are pretty uninformed about AR. I’ve seen people on gw2lfg requiring 25+ AR for scale 20. Many people, including myself on an alt, have gone past 20 with 0 AR. I’m not sure where people get the idea they need so much AR at the early levels.
Well I still need to get CoF Story, been putting it off. My times are a bit later than yours as well, but we may intersect. Feel free to add me.
If you can get enough people, maybe you could start a guild. It would be nice to have a pool of players that are outfitted for speed runs.
What times are you on?
I did the destroyer event chest run yesterday. There were like a hundred players involved. I got greens and blues at the end. I asked around if anyone got anything good. Only two replied that they got crap drops. If someone got all rares I expect them to yell in chat but no one did. Did rare drop rate really increase?
The megadestroyer and Arah chests did not get buffed for some reason. They still only drop blues.
Here is a list of chests that have a >90% chance of dropping a rare:

Some people like a small circle of friends they know well. Some like a large group of friends with more casual relationships. I personally like my small group of good friends. As such, my guild is unable to do this content.
While I don’t like it, there are ways around it. You have to find a large guild that will let you join just for mission. In my search I found many guild require 100% rep on all characters, this is not an option for me. So I found a guild that will let me rep only during guild mission. The only requirement is that I buy them some karma. A fair enough tradeoff.
While I’d love to be able to do this content with my good friends, that just isn’t possible. This is large guild content. So it’s either join a large guild or don’t do the content. I’ve bitten the bullet, but if you find a guild that is cool with not repping 100% it’s not so bad.
I’ve added some people to friends list but no one is on atm. I finished my warrior so now I have a warrior in full exotics to farm with instead of thief.
I’m usually not on until about 4 hours from now. Send me mail if I’m not online so I know to add you back. I’m down to run with you tonight if you’re on.
To those of you who are giving tactics advice and saying that it’s fine: I want to reiterate that my problem is not that the harpies are difficult, it’s that they’re merely annoying and time-consuming without any real challenge to them.
What most of the people listing tactics are trying to say is that this fractal doesn’t have to be annoying and time consuming if you correctly use the tactics. This is the challenging part, employing tactics to get through the harpies quickly and easily. Trust me, teams do get through this fractal without a single fall.
I’d just like to thank Kumakichi and the other vets for organizing this. This weekend I passed my first stack of arah tokens and have run path 1 and 3 successfully so far on my warrior and ele. I’m still not fully pro but if you see me online and not in a dungeon I’ll most likely join, I try to have my LFG tag up but will only rep while in the dungeon itself.
Agreed, this is an awesome guild even though no one reps. I’ve only run twice with the guild so far, both times with obal. He and everyone else were patient and friendly. And having pros like obal in there make these runs a breeze if everyone follows direction. When I pugged this dungeon before it was an absolute fail. Thank you to the organizers of this guild!
Feel free to add me. I can run some low level fractals with you and show you the ropes. Once you know the mechanics they’re easy until 30+.
These explanations still make it sound like there is basically no difference between the two.
So no matter which one you buy, you can give either backpack any stats you wish. Is this correct? The large disparity in price and scarcity could lead one to believe that one backpack is superior to the other. Is this not the case?
Can accessories be infused?
The ring system does seem unfinished. When Exotics were the highest tier they were salvageable, why not Ascended? Also having useless currency seems odd. It just seems intuitive that Pristine Fractal Relics should have another use.
Ran my first Arah exp last with the this guild last night. We did path 3 with things going pretty well. We were at Lupicus is phase 3 and my internet decided to shutdown. I had no internet for the rest of the night. I just wanted to apologize to my group, sorry guys… :P. I’m sure you were able to finish the fight without me, just hope it didn’t take too much longer.

Hello, I’m hoping to be able to join a large guild for guild missions on Maguuma server. I like to do fractals and need to get the Ascended accessories so I can progress further. My main guild is small, about 20 people total with about 10 active. We are good friends, so I would rather not permanently join a different guild. Alas, we gain influence very slowly and the guild missions are out of our reach.
I am willing to buy influence for the guild that lets me do missions. However, I am unable to rep 100% as a lot of guilds require. If there are other things the guild would like from me, just mention it. I’m willing to be flexible as I would really like to get these accessories and experience the guild missions themselves.

Warrior and Guardian, both full Exotics with Ascended. Prefer to run dungeons with Guardian.
Traited: Warrior is VS with knight, soldier and zerker set. Guardian is AH/EM crit build with knight and zerker set.
Time: NA late weeknights, random on weekends
Experience: I’ve only done Arah story, but experienced with other dungeons and up to scale 40 fractal. Follow direction well and willing to stay in guild to help newcomers after I’m familiar with Arah
This is the favorite fractal of people at scale 20+, 30+. Heck people will restart until they get this fractal. At higher levels when everyone knows it well, we get it on the first try about 75% of the time. It’s rare that it ever takes more than 2 tries. You’ll get there, just takes practice. If you continue with fractals, before long you’ll be hoping for the swamp.
I love the platforming, but the knockback is an unnecessary time waster. It doesn’t make it harder just makes it take more time.
So just don’t let them do knockback…

Man, how blind must people be, when anet clearly has stated in their ascended item blog, that this is just the beginning and that they have more on the backhand, when they think that the time is right.We have so far only Rings, Amulets and Back Items as ascendend items, no ascended armor sets yet, no ascendend weapons, no ascended earrings.
The last two months just introduced rings and amulets.
And we can be sure, that more will come in future updates >.>man, how can be people only be so querulous, even when its so super obvious, that more will come later ….
Wow, you totally missed the “so super obvious” point. We just want the stat loadouts for our builds. We know more ascended will be released.
The people that like doing fractals that happen to use a stat loadout that ascended doesn’t have got screwed pretty bad here. They had to make expensive equipment and use hard earned relics and sparse RNG drops to upgrade there ascended gear. Gear that basically gimps their build but is essential to advance in a dungeon they like. Now they will have to spend the money and resources again on the same gear to get the stat loadout that fits their build. Then they’re left with the old useless equipment that can’t even be salvaged for items or to get the infusions back.
Up until this thread we hadn’t heard a word if ascended would be released with different stats, so you had to use resources for non-optimal gear or not play fractals. It would be nice if all stat loadouts were released simultaneously in the future. Sure, spread them across different areas of the game however you see fit. Just give access to them.
Mossman deserves a rocket launcher. He’s been exploited his entire existence. Even when played legit he’s too easy. Give the poor guy a rocket launcher!

I think they’re pretty fun, I like a little bit of platforming. It just takes an ounce of strategy to make the harpies not do knockback. Just a little bit of thought instead of button mashing from a distance and voilà, no one ever has to fall.

I generally just go straight to killing, usually everyone does the same if I’m already off killing. Twice someone has said they’d like to skip due to time constraints, so we said ok and ran the rest. No biggie either way really.
I personally would like to see more gold sinks, karma sinks and every currency in the game with more sinks. I want to be flooded with options, especially vanity options. More stat combinations or proc options would be nice as well. More variety! Not that there isn’t a good amount of it now, but I would like even more quality options.
It’s like finding items I plan to use for a project, a project that I do not plan on buying items for. Say I find parts for a bicycle, I intend to only use these parts for building a bicycle. There is no selling of the parts or any intention of monetary gain. There are also no pre-defined values because if I do not find parts I simply do not have them. If I find all the parts, I build the bicycle. I did not save a defined amount of money, because the bicycle simply would not have been built if I did not find the parts. There was never any intention of buying parts, so I did not save money that would not have been spent in the first place. There is absolutely nothing of defined monetary value within the equation. To assign any sort of market value of savings means nothing to me, because if I didn’t find the items through the things I do anyway, I simply wouldn’t have the items.
First off, you lose 15% from selling your mats. So they are not full value as people are saying here. Second, you will also gain many T6 mats from making clovers, so it is false to give full price to the mat gift estimates.
Another point that applies with me and I’m sure others. Some of us haven’t always sold mats. I have always kept them. I do a lot of crafting and it’s nice to keep them on hand. So those mats don’t necessarily translate to market value for us, because we have never used them as such.
Fact is, for people that play like myself anyway, we don’t have to put as much gold into the other parts of the legendary as we do the precursor.
Last, just to note, I am not a precursor whiner nor have I ever been. It’s not up to me to objectify its value. It is what it is. But for myself at least, it the by far the largest gold sink in the equation.

Also, not everyone can “easily make 50g a day” from farming. So if people are easily doing this, then the people who are putting in actual effort must be making what, 100g, 150g a day?

If I take 250 Charged Lodestones and destroy them, I am breaking my assets. I am throwing away my stocks, essentially. I haven’t liquidated them, so they are nothing but words, but they still have worth.
But I haven’t knocked off the same amount as someone using the TP. If you insist on assigning market value to items that will not be liquidated for monetary gain, then the person going through the TP is instantly at a 15% disadvantage.
Stocks are assigned monetary value, but those values are essentially meaningless (within relation to the game). The only value that matters is the value upon liquidation. My items will not be liquidated for monetary gain, they have no monetary use, they are not stocks. They have no discernible monetary value as I would not have bought the items if I did not farm them. So they did not save me money either, because they aren’t replacing something I would have purchased.
This itemization simply does not work across the board. It depends on how you obtain your legendary.

Also, not everyone can “easily make 50g a day” from farming. So if people are easily doing this, then the people who are putting in actual effort must be making what, 100g, 150g a day?

First off, you lose 15% from selling your mats. So they are not full value as people are saying here. Second, you will also gain many T6 mats from making clovers, so it is false to give full price to the mat gift estimates.
Another point that applies with me and I’m sure others. Some of us haven’t always sold mats. I have always kept them. I do a lot of crafting and it’s nice to keep them on hand. So those mats don’t necessarily translate to market value for us, because we have never used them as such.
Fact is, for people that play like myself anyway, we don’t have to put as much gold into the other parts of the legendary as we do the precursor.
Last, just to note, I am not a precursor whiner nor have I ever been. It’s not up to me to objectify its value. It is what it is. But for myself at least, it the by far the largest gold sink in the equation.
