Not sure what to think of handing out invites based on a grind-fest.
I just hope this won’t be along the lines of the carapace armor boxes from Vinewrath…
What makes you so sure it will be a “grind-fest”? And how is it different from signing up on a list? At least this way they guarantee that the people that get selected actually plays the game.
I wonder what time it starts? Reset on that day? Noon, pacific time? And when does it end?
Well it is patch day, so I would assume (if there is a patch) that it will start after that.
Report people that breaks the ToS.
Chance of getting one of those items is probably so low u got a better chance of getting a precursor for every legendary before one drops.
Very unlikely.
They want people in the beta after all. And having the drop rate so low so that 100 people or so are the only ones that get access is probably not the best of ideas.
This actually was an April Fool’s joke before release of GW2 btw. In 2010.
Rather interesting way to get into beta as well.
And a rather good way to guarantee that people in the beta are actual active players.

Interestingly enough Mesmer was the last to be revealed before release.
I wonder if it is a coincidence or if they are doing it the other way around for the specializations. That would mean Mesmer followed by Engineer and then Thief.
Friday is the favourite launch day of devs and retailers. People buy the game to play at the weekend. And with a birthday booster active, you can L80 your revenant before you go back to work on the Monday. I bet that this is when they’ll have planned to release the expansion. They may not make the date though. But it’ll be a Friday :p
And yet releasing something on a Friday means that there is 2 whole days after release where the vast majority of the company is not on site, which means that large bugs or blocking issues will take quite some time to even get started on a fix.
Releasing something on a Monday or Tuesday (which is rather standard) means that you have more than half a working week to solve major issues like that. And everyone is aware of the fact that big bugs can happen with big releases.
Why complain? Did you even watch the Necro part of the video?
Did they even mention about pet ai being fixed?
Did they even talk about DS and how it kinda breaks the builds of blood?
Did they talk about how “weak” the second life bar really is, and what the class loses for it?
What would a pet ai fix have to do with traits though?
28th August. 3 years from official launch and it’s a Friday. No more predictions needed I think.
Extremely unlikely that they would launch something that big on a Friday.
There is a reason most releases are at the beginning of a week.
Even if there is a patch, it is highly unlikely that it would require much in the way of content.
The problem is that developers “balance” the game at most two times a year. Ease of balance is the last cause for concern, if of course developers are honest with themselves.
What makes you so sure it is not connected?
Maybe they can’t make swift balancing changes simply due to the fact that there are millions different things they need to take into consideration?
^ The first reply you got was an automated response. It does not require any sort of manual input from the support team.
It is also worth pointing out that GW1 issues will take a rather long time, usually several weeks or even months.
Dunno why people buy these things. You need to gather 3000 ori atm to make up for the cost of the tool.
No one is buying it to earn money. People buy them for the convenience of never having to worry about having the right tool again.
Similarly there are still large bugs in the original base game, including in the personal story. That’s just unfortunately how games
are nowhave always been. Keep kicking up a stink about it and hopefully they’ll do something to fix it!
Fixed that.
It is not something new. There have never been any sort of complex game that didn’t have bugs.
Seriously, though, I don’t see the problem. There’s already a profanity filter… Use it if swearing bothers you. Although if people are intentionally getting around the filter, that’s kinda a jerk move on their part. Is that what this is about?
The filter is not there to allow people to break the ToS. It is there so that people can avoid seeing people breaking said ToS.
This is false. Leveling does count for the incoming hero point system. All other skill points will be converted to Djinngots.
Yes, leveling does count. But it still won’t be a 1-1 transfer.
It will count for the number of LEVELS you have and the number of skill challenges you have completed.
Skill points themselves will not be converted to Hero Points however.

“GW2 Tickets for Review (7 days & older)”
.EVEN NEW PLAYER R ALREADY SCARED AWAY BY THE LACK OF CONTENT^^ sry but that need be in caps
Yeah…. except for the fact that new players have the whole game to go through before there is nothing new to do.
I remember back when we had the Living Story and people demanded that they released expansions instead.
Those of us that prefer the Living Story model warned about this happening. It is simply not feasible for a company of ArenaNets size to release stuff while also finishing up an expansion, if they want the expansion out in a timely manner.
And how many of those 150 skills were ever actively used?
There were about 2-3 viable builds for each profession in Guild Wars 1. The vast majority of skills were never used, and plenty of them were more or less identical.
And yet since that Living Story break there have been changes to the engine as well.
Not to mention all the changes behind the scene in preparation for HoT. Time is one factor, but resources is another. You can have all the time in the world, but if you don’t have the resources to spare that is rather irrelevant.
It is rather unlikely that they have 10 people sitting around doing nothing after all.
It is easy to shout about how easy it would be to fix, but without having actually worked on the project itself (or development at large) it is rather silly to do so. Seeing as we have no idea whatsoever how much work would be required.
No, the content of SAB hasn’t changed. But there HAVE been multiple changes to the engine since it was last available.
That is just the nature of development. Doing something here, might completely wreck something completely unrelated over here and so on.
Therefore they would need to make sure all of it still works as intended which would take quite a bit of time, and if something does not work as intended it would require a resources to fix it. Resources that is much better spent on the expansion.
Or do you need to rebuild a car, that you already have build, but just parked somewhere >.> No, or?? See?
It would be more correct to say that the roads that the car were travelling on have been completely remade, and it is possible that the wheels of said car might not work well enough on the new roads, therefore that must be investigated and potentially replaced before it can be used again.
I think it is rather naive to assume that people would be content with a post explaining why SAB was not active.
They would see the post, rage about how that is the worst reason ever and then go back to business as usual in this thread.
And that is just another point:
Everyone got information about the required merge long before the deadline. The fact that people don’t care enough to spend those two minutes required to secure their accounts isn’t really ArenaNets issue.
I think people underestimate the amount of work needed for these things.
Yes they could turn something old back on. But that would still require spending quite a bit of time to make sure that none of the updates made to the engine or the game since they were last here have broken them. And if there are issues that have turned up, they will have to start rewriting code and such, which will take resources that is better spent elsewhere.
Well, it looks like in the end there are points involved in the specialization system
Indeed, and yet when this thread were actually active there were no information whatsoever that it would. Thus we argued based on the information we had back then.
I keep wondering why people simply can’t make sure to know their passwords.
I have never required any sort of assistance in re-aquiring a password for any single thing, despite having used the internet, many different games and a rather large number of different passwords over the last 15 years.
If people could just be a bit more responsible for their own access the amount of tickets (and thus also the response time) would be much lower. When I worked in support, about 99% of the calls were about having lost a password, and I would assume it is the same here.
The site says that skill challenges are becoming hero challenges and hero points will replace skill points, so I’d imagine they would just convert them 1-1.
Only skill points gained from skill challenges though.
The vast majority of skill points however are gained from Scrolls and leveling, neither which will be converted to Hero Points.
the investor profit report predicted massive profit increases for Q3 2015, which indicates HoT is planned for release any time between June and September
The investor have also made that prediction every year since release.
They won’t get permanently banned. Nor will multiple reports speed up the process. They will be investigated and if they are found to have broken the ToS they will be dealt with.
They will be turned into a currency that you can use to buy Mystic Forge stuff. Exactly like you can do now.
I don’t want a rushed released, at the same time I don’t want to wait until Early 2016 to actually play it.
And that is a rather major issue.
People want stuff right now, but they also want it 110% polished and completely bug-free.
If you are so sure about said law, why not bring it to court? I can almost guarantee that you would not stand the slightest chance of winning. Simply because such a law don’t (and can’t really) exist.
Why would it make any difference whatsoever if they said that there would be no support or not? If there actually is a law about it, what they are saying would be completely irrelevant.
Well to be fair people have been raging about balance since the game was released.
Many choices and good balance usually don’t go well together.
While it might be a slight hit against flexibility, it is worth pointing out that the new system will probably be much easier to balance.
The download doesn’t reset when you close the client. It picks up again where it left off (even if the progress bar itself doesn’t show it).
Of course they can. There is (as far as I am aware) not a single law that says that a company most give support for a product forever. In fact I can almost guarantee that it is not a law, seeing as that would basically mean every product ever would be required to be supported forever, which simply would be impossible.
If I contact Blizzard today, with a support issue for Diablo (1 or 2) it is very unlikely that I would get lightning fast support (if any). Last time I tried (had issues with my D2 disks about 5 years ago) it took them almost a month to even reply.
I’m hoping we get some more explanation about this change. I’d really like to know what to do with my excess skill points and scrolls of knowledge before they are turned into something potentially useless.
They appear to be turned into something that is being used for the exact same things Skill points are being used for today.

Any amount is too much when you’re talking about having to re-earn something we’ve already put in the time/money/effort for once before.
But you won’t have unlocked everything in the lines before. Simply because not everything in the lines existed before.
“The core specializations changes are coming before HoT, elite will come with HoT”
Does that mean people withtout HoT won’t have access to Elite Skills anymore ? I just can’t believe that !?!
Elite specializations != Elite skills.
The elite specializations are the things they simply called specializations before, such as the Druid for Ranger.
You could play for free if you unlocked the episode while it was live (simply logging in during those two weeks), if not you have to pay 200 gems per episode (or less now that they have the complete package) to unlock them. This very very clearly advertised before the season started.
Keep in mind that gems can be bought with gold, so no real money is needed.
It is also worth pointing out that you can join someone that have the episode unlocked if you just want to do it for the story.
It that account wide, then? I have 14 level 80s. 2 of them have done world completion. What about the other 12?
Why would it be account wide? The current system is not.
Do those other 12 actually use every single trait available in the game right now?
The skill challenges that you have completed will give you Hero Points retroactively. Those that you have not completed will need to be completed.
Your skill points will be turned into the new currency. But you would get Hero points for all Skill challenges you have completed.
Maybe it only took you an hour, but at the same time you don’t have any information about what specializations will bring and stuff like that, while they actually need to take that information into consideration.

I got the impression that skill challenges that had been done would be converted to Hero Points, while other sources would be turned into currency that could be used to buy Mystic Forge stuff.
But how would it fix the broken thing? You are not fixing the pet by forcing you to use a specific trait to unlock it. You are moving the problem. A fix would be to make the pet better, not to remove it.
The main reason for Necromancers being “broken” in PvE is the condition cap, which is being addressed in HoT.
