Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
Haven’t this been stated before more or less every single update ever released in this game?
gw2wvw is a popular site for WvW people since this subforum has gotten dry and the moderators remove everything. Its a site for GvG/WvW. 439 votes were cast which is a substantial size to get a view.
It might very well be a popular site, but when the poll basically have less total votes than what I can see at times on a single server in WvW I wouldn’t really say it is especially representative.
So a very small group of people have voted on an unofficial site where not even the majority was against it, means that having another season is a bad idea…?
I thought that gift of heroes was supposed to be available in badges. So that it’d be a choice — get weapon with just tickets, or spend a third in tickets and the rest in gold, crystalline dust plus badges. Essentially giving low ranking servers a shot at two mistforge weapon (with winners getting a lot of them)
They have never even suggested that it would be available for badges alone. And making it available from only badges would make it much easier (and cheaper) to get multiple Mistforged weapons than buying them outright, and that would just be silly.
Wow. I thought the rewards would silently be nerfed but doing it in the last week of the tournament…. veeery classy :P
All these weeks of being rofl-stomped by mega-zergs 2-3 times the population of our server is actually not enough for a weapon and we have to live through another season to make one? Half a year for one weapon, right?
Very classy.
How are the rewards nerfed?
Before this change you had to spend the badges AND the tickets.
Now you only need to spend the (same amount) of tickets.
So technically the rewards themselves have only changed in a way that makes them EASIER to obtain.
Yes, and those methods weren’t really possible to use to mass-produce the tickets.
The Mystic Forge recipe would take quite some time to get enough stuff for, for one. The Daily PvP could be done once per day.
The gems were in sPvP a long time ago but were removed, it’s not creating something out of nowhere, it’s bringing something back.
Back when there were Gems in sPvP (paid Tournaments) people didn’t zerg to sPvP to get Gems, because in PvE was still better to make gold.
Another option would be removing gold from sPvP wins and giving Gems instead, and from there people would keep them or convert them to gold.
Yet another option would be to get sPvP Tokens (since Glory is gone), where we could trade for Various items that we are getting right now with the Reward Tracks, such as Dungeon Tokens, Dungeon Items, Tomes etc. In the list would be Gems.
Yes, the gems were there, for PAID tournaments. Which you had to pay gems for (or get lucky with free tournaments).
They would be created out of nothing unless your required gem-payment (and the win was PART of the whole teams payment) if not, they would create gems out of nowhere, which would hurt the game quite a bit.
They best way to solve the reward issue would simply be to remove the limit (from tournament) for gold and increase the amount gotten for each win. If you want gems, you trade that gold for gems. Simple as that.
Those examples are indeed improvements or tell me how it’s better for the game in general to have a mini in the cash-shop vs in the game from a game-play perspective.
There are indeed things that are personal depending on the person but no I don’t believe there are many people who say “Yeah I love mini’s in the cash-shop and not as drop because it makes the game so much better” .
So if it comes to those examples I do feel it’s general not personal. But if you prefer temporary content every two weeks or not that’s indeed personal. There are for sure some people who love that stuff.
Mini in cash-shop = more money.
More money = more resources for developing stuff for the game.
Mini in cash-shop = more gameplay stuff develop.
So you basically want more gold? Isn’t it better to increase the rate of gold gotten from sPvP then?
Creating gems out of nowhere is not a good idea for the game.
As for getting good rewards by doing what we like I agree. But if you suddenly add Gem acquisition to sPvP you all of a sudden “force” people to do sPvP in order to get those gems and thus are back at the exact same place.
They should simply not give any tournament specific rewards at all.
That would solve all of these issues.
People wouldn’t stack due to no difference in rewards based on placement.
People wouldn’t swarm into WvW without having a clue.
People wouldn’t complain about how the rewards are wrong.
Actually back when the Bazaar and the Gauntlet was first released I was more often than not put in overflows in those maps. And that was back when I was on a smaller server than now.
King xiuras.3615:
I think you are misunderstanding what she is saying.
Before it costed the same amount of tickets AND badges.
Now it only costs the tickets.
The price in tickets is still exactly the same as it was before, and as such even if you had the badges you would have been unable to buy the gift if you didn’t have enough tickets.

It’s worth noting that if by some crazy luck you were placed in the same server you left, you still won’t get the event rewards.
The rule is, roughly, when you leave a map, the map forgets about you.
Which makes sense.
You aren’t there for the duration of the event, and as such shouldn’t get rewards for it.
I understand the point here, but is this a real life simulator or a fantasy MMO?
It is a fantasy MMO, that is based in a real world, with real problem, real progression and real changes. Just because it is a game doesn’t mean it must remove everything that is from real life.
Lets make a better example then.
If I decide to go on a vacation, and during that time something really big happens in my hometown.
I would miss that big thing, because it happened when I was away.
Thats just how life is. Things happen, you miss things. Life goes on.
July 1 is a Sunday, isn’kitten
What a strange day to start new content.
No it isn’t.
JUNE 1st is a Sunday.
JULY 1st is a Tuesday.
Ah, misunderstood what you wrote then. I read at like post Tower of Nightmare. My bad.
But I would say that Kessex Hills is rather different now compared to before. And it is an example of permanent LS stuff.
People really misunderstood the reference made to Game of Thrones.
They never said the story was close to Game of Thrones.
They said that the amount of SPECULATIONS about what would come next would be around the level of Game of Thrones.
Durr. Instancing. That how you do it.
If you like it, good. Glad that you enjoy it. But I’m not.
So we’re in irreconciliable stances. Anet will cater one of the stances. One side will be happy. The other will resign or leave the game.
Wich one will cater anet? We gonna see from July 1st onwards.
So basically splitting up the player-base?
ArenaNet will most likely cater to the most active one, aka those that actually play the game more than once or twice a month.
Even if I were actively playing GW2 every week I would want permanent content over temporary content. Wouldn’t you? I like to go back and play old content. Old Raids and Dungeons in WoW. Old missions and older content in Guild Wars like Fissure of Woe and Underworld. You just can’t do that with the LS.
Oh, I agree, there should be (and will be) more permanent content.
But from the OP it did sound like you wanted it to be more or less specifically catered to people that take several month long breaks, rather than those that actively plays the game.
You can get permanent stuff with the Living Story (we already have examples of this, such as Edge of the Mist, Aetherpath, Fractals).
Why should ArenaNet cater to the player-base that DON’T actively play their game though? Wouldn’t it be much more logical to cater to those that actually play the game at least a few times a week?
No way we’re not getting a new zone. Just some sort of instance launching from a portal. Lmfao. What a lame teaser.
Why not?
We know for a fact that Mordy woke up far outside the currently available maps.
We also know for a fact that there are portals in-game that would lead to areas closer to where Mordy is/was.

Most of the festival tied rewards does not appear, which makes sense since the festivals will return and might allow people to get old rewards then.
Yeah, I would love to have some sources on the information stated as facts in this thread (such as devs leaving, devs having no plan for ties and so on).
Personally I am rather sure that we did hear something about what would happen in case of a tie at the start of the Season, but can’t find the source now.
How about shipping some of those over to the NA / EU servers?
Botters and cheaters?
To be fair this isn’t really something that is new with the MegaServer.
The exact same thing would have happened last time, due to overflows.
Not when they said the second half of 2013 was going to have the permanent stuff. All those you listed were in 2014. Destruction of LA is just cosmetic change. Fractal change was for the worse (in my opinion), since all it did was cause fractals to take longer, with little added as reward for that extra time. Edge while permanent, isn’t fun and all its become is a karma train.
And here is the main issue on these forums:
People for some reason doesn’t count things they don’t like. Which makes no sense. Stuff is added regardless if you like or do it or not.
And yet funnily enough it is not uncommon for things to change between the release of those trailers and the actual release.
Lord of the Rings is a great example.
The trailer for Fellowship of the Ring contains parts that does not appear in FotR but rather in TTT and RotK, same with TTT trailer and the fact that there are scenes that doesn’t appear at all in the whole trilogy.
And that is the issue. When releasing something too far ahead it is fully possible that it will not be in the actual release.
^ Well if they add new zones (which it looks like from the teaser) it is rather likely that it would be permanent. I also seem to recall someone quoting that they would mainly have permanent stuff with season 2.
I also remember them saying that post-Tower of Nightmares Kessex Hills are an example of “permanent LS stuff”.
Yep, and we had plenty of permanent stuff after that.
As far as I know (I haven’t been there for sometime though, so might have changed) both the new Fractals and the destruction of Lion’s Arch are still there, not to mention Edge of the Mists.
But I suppose those doesn’t count?
There is nothing in that announcement that confirms that there will be no Dragon Bash to be honest.
It is fully possible that they will release Dragon Bash in the middle of June (like last year) and have it on together with Bazaar and Pavilion.
This teaser is about when S2 starts, nowhere does it say that it is when the next update is.
So there is technically still hope.
Those other mmos have years of content though. GW2 doesn’t, since living story was temporary content for over a year. The only things that were truly added as new, permanent content, was Southsun, Fractals, and EotM.
So, what about all those MMOs that were released and it took years before they saw their first expansion? And half a year before they got their first real content update?
For some reason those games did have enough content just from release to survive, but apparently GW2 don’t?
Most of the times when I see a teaser it shows extremely little.
That is basically the point of a teaser.
If this was the release information 1 week before release I might have agreed, but this is something they posted to give us information (that people have demanded for months) about when it will be release, not what will be released.
I know we always run into each other because we have completely different opinions and i actually enjoy this because my own opinion is not the only answer…….
But in this case…………… what else than Dolyak and Crystal can you do at the Bazaar ?
Collecting 40 sky crystals doesn’t keep me busy for 1.5 month sorry.
Crystals.
Master Crystals.
Gauntlet.
Boss Blitz.
Aspect Arena.
Sanctum Sprint.
Getting old LS rewards.
Getting new LS rewards.
You also have to remember that not everyone can play as much as you, and they might very well need that time in order do these things.
And the fact that people have been complaining more or less every single patch that there is too little time to do stuff.
Are you saying people could find joy in a- Dolyak race b- Crystal delivery into a pot
for 1.5 month ???
I admit i enjoyed it for maybe 1-2 days….. but 1.5 month ??
And i am really a casual player.
I am saying that just because you dislike a grand total of every single thing in the game doesn’t mean it is the same for everyone.
And there is far more than the Flying Dolyak race and Crystal Collector to do both at the Bazaar and in the Pavilion.
The only thing that article gives us is basically assumptions based on what we already know from season 1. Nothing more.
Would you be so kind explaining me where these zones are ??
So far i just found a stairway up to the airship and a circle with zones to zerker
some bosses for a blue item and 29 copper.I would love to see the zones you are talking about
Ah, this is where the so called opinions come in.
The Bazaar is in Divinity’s Reach.
No, the Pavilion and Gauntlet is in Divinity’s Reach.
The Bazaar is in Labyrinthine Cliffs.
I personally wouldn’t assume that Dragon Bash won’t happen.
It is still fully possible that it does come back (it started in the middle of June last time) and that this is just announcing when Living Story is back.
^ Well if they add new zones (which it looks like from the teaser) it is rather likely that it would be permanent. I also seem to recall someone quoting that they would mainly have permanent stuff with season 2.
1. July? REALLY? Not a mistake that they meant first of June?
I can not find any nice words describing how I feel about this. How do you want to keep people playing? Do you just want to kill the remaining small population of gw2?
You have already killed tpvp, are you now continuing with also kill the living world?
It is extremely unlikely that they would
1: Release it on a Sunday
2: Announce it less than a week before release.
It is funny how all those other games somehow manage to keep people playing for 6 months without adding anything, but as soon as GW2 have a gap of a month or two the game is doomed.
The population in GW2 is far from small. I still see massive amounts of people around (both in PvE and WvW).
Would you rather have them rush releases so that you can complain about how bad it is due to too little time spent on it?
Yep, seems like we are getting new zone(s) soon!
What?
The Festival of the Four Winds will continue until that date, so enjoy the festivities while they last!
JULY 1st is in over a month.
Finally got a date for S2 release, and they also told us that the Festival will be going until then.
Outfits aren’t armor-skins, they are outfits.
Zenith, Radiant and Hellfire are achievement skins, not bought skins.
Gemstore armors does have a free apply when you buy them, applying it after the first time does require charges though. The same as it was before they changed the system.
Bi-week releases will most likely return with S2 of living story.
S2 of living story doesn’t have a official release date at this time though. But it is rather safe to say that we most likely won’t see it until the end of June at the earliest.
I did play GW1, extensively.
You claim that these new areas of the map are important and warrant access…and if that was true, why did ANet give us the joke that was LS season 1?
You claim there are more elder dragons that need to be slain…and if ANet considered that a priority, why did we get Scarlet.
Listen, I’m not saying your predictions aren’t logical, I’m just saying it’s clear ANet’s plans for this game aren’t. Trying to apply logic to anything they do is a recipe for disappointment.
Because releasing new areas and new massive fights takes time, and they would rather give is a somewhat stand-alone story while working on that, instead of giving us nothing at all for 2 years while they work on said stuff?
We KNOW that they are working on more stuff than the Living Story, it is quite likely that at least some of that stuff IS tied to those areas and the elder dragons.
Yes there are Elder Dragons to slay. There was also an Elder Dragon that had not woken up yet. The whole of Season 1 was building up to said Dragon waking up. Simple as that.
Anyone that have given this event a try should be fully aware that when everyone blobs up it becomes more or less impossible.
And then most people should also be able to make the connection that breaking up into smaller groups makes it much easier and as such zerging is not the way to go.
Not to mention the fact that there is at least a few people in every single map that is fully aware about how non-zerging is the way to go and informs people about it in chat.
The issue isn’t the event, the issue is that people are unable to listen to simple instructions.
Scaling have been in the game since release, it is not something suddenly added to this specific event, so people should be at least somewhat aware of its existence.
Edit for edit:
Oh, there were loads of people complaining about the anti-zerg design of the marionette as well. Using the same arguments as you are using: “There were no guidance”.
If there are six bosses and a timer, how can people not understand that attacking the six bosses at the same time is the way to go?
Events that means zerging: Bad design.
Events that means stop zerging: Bad design.
Will anything ever not be bad design?
Only thing I can think to help stop it is to make it so you can only create characters on one server, if you switch servers all your characters have to move to the new server.
It may help not being able to create characters on different servers.
Of course they can still buy multiple accounts and do it that way, but not as many would want to do that just to spy.
That is already the case.
The account is tied to your servers, not characters.
Gold sink. And it is % based as far as I know, rather than a set number.
I doubt it pushes people to buy from gold sellers, if they wanted to buy from gold sellers they would do that no matter what price ArenaNet “set”.
