Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
I don’t really get the point though.
They have a completely different culture over there. These things are more or less standard in those games (most of them also require paying for time which GW2 doesn’t).
You can’t really compare a game released here with the same being released in a part of the world there everything when it comes to most things are different.
You are over 2 months late to the party.
IP restrictions. You can’t participate in WvW if your IP was recently associated with another account (presumably your primary one).
Too bad for people living together then.
And if people really want to spy they can quite easily bypass a restriction like that as well.
The only thing it would do is punish normal people rather than those spying.
And why would you even need to be on another server for that matter?
It is fully possible to have only one account on one server and still spread information from that server to other servers.
(edited by lordkrall.7241)
I think the main reason why it felt so long was the start.
The first three parts were spread out across 3 months. If those parts had been under the two weeks release schedule I am almost certain that it would have lessened the feeling of longness.
I also think they have learned from S1 and now know how to better implement the story in a more concise way.
I think a majority of the posters in this thread dislike it… and this thread is for feedback…
Not sure how else to interpret that.
Quite possible. But does the majority of the posters on the forum post in this thread?
This game is born to go in the wrong direction.
1.) Endgame based only on appearance is just a dead game since the start.
Quite impressive how a game that was dead from the start is still going strong about two year after release.
Hate to be a party pooper but shouldn’t this work have been done 2 years ago?
IF it is simply fixing the existing AI then yes.
But it could also be that they are creating something completely NEW which couldn’t really have been done 2 years ago, since it wasn’t being developed at the time.
What a fat lie. I’d post the “we are investigating, use the ingame report function and don’t bother us anymore(and of course no action ever taken)” type of answers I got when I tried to do it, after months of 1 guy trolling our server and hundreds of ingame reports every day, but I once did and got 3 infraction points for “namecalling/shaming”.
Yeah, I suppose spamming reports might make them a bit tired.
I, on the other hand, have reported people that way and a few days later that player were nowhere to be found.
Straigth up information gathering you cannot stop. But some spies go and sabotage, dropping and building useless siege that are without argue a waste of supply/siege cap. These can be stopped.
The game recognizes who placed the siege so it should be possible to punish people that do this.arenanet, unless it interferes with pve, has a complete hands-off policy when it comes to WvW. Cheating, hacking, exploiting, spying and griefing are all pretty much fair game.
Exactly, and SPYING is information gathering. Other than that is is sabotaging, which is a different issue.
And as stated earlier in this post, they actually DO act if sabotaging can be proved.
The main issue is that they have to make sure that it is actual sabotaging rather than just straight up stupidity. You can’t ban people for being stupid after all.

I am still waiting for a suggestion about how you even CAN stop spying?
Destroying siege and wasting supplies is already stop-able by sending screenshots to ArenaNet.
But giving the enemy servers information? How can you stop that? Seeing as they can’t control TS/Mumble/Skype/Whatever and as such they can never stop someone from joining a server and spread information to other servers.
So is Anet going to… y’know… do something about this mega server fiasco? I think it is safe to say that there is a a considerably large amount (I’d say a majority) of people that dislike this.
Pretty great how Anet has been keeping us in the loop. Certainly feels like a delicious treat. Oh wait…
Actually I would say that it is not even a majority of the forum-goers that have stated that they dislike it. Which would most likely suggest that it is far from the majority that dislike it.
Begin?
It has been going on for almost two years.
It is not something new.
Do you actually have a suggestion how to stop this though? Or did you just want to create a thread complaining about it and wait for others to come up with solutions?
You can report them by sending a mail directly to ArenaNet.
The main reason as to why it is not present in-game is most likely due to the fact that reports most likely only take snap-shots which would make it more or less impossible to prove that someone is griefing (unless they keep doing it when a GM is investigating).
BALANCE THE CLASSES. It cannot be that hard. Thank you, rant over.
Alright, might I inquire about which large-scale multiplayer game you have developed?
And what can they do about people spying?
I think that is a much better question.
It is 100% impossible for them to stop people from reporting the movement of the server to other servers, so adding a rule against it would be completely pointless.
So how would you suggest fixing the issue with people missing sales due to not reading mail/launcher/forums then?
Because people have been having issues with this since release and demanded that the information was added in-game.
Now they have added it in-game (it is not like it flashes constantly and disturb regular game-play) and now that is wrong as well?
I have played rather many hours today, and I haven’t really seen that thing at all. I have read the yellow text in the chat-window later on, but haven’t actually seen it on the screen. So I assume it is only there for a few seconds?
Are you saying that you’ve never felt “pushed” into spending money on the game, or are you saying you’ve never spent money on the game?
I have never felt pushed.
I have spent money on the game.
Reading comprehension? Let me make it more simple for you.
GW1 was about earning skins. They came along with prestige and were proof of having done something.
GW2 is about buying them from the gemshop. Now reach into your wallet and buy some gems like NCsoft wants.
So, what have this to do with a thread about re-releasing in-game rewards from earlier releases…?
That was in GW1.
GW2 is all about the cash shop. Now open up your wallet and prepare to spend spend spend, for a chance at a chance of a weapon skin.
Oh?
How many of those re-released items from in-game can you buy in the cash shop? (Or for gold for that matter..?)
Time to invoke Godwin’s Law. You lose the internet.
I know, I know
But it was a rather good example for this very case.
I suppose I could have used Bush as well
Suggestion 1 would basically never work in the long run, because the gold-sellers won’t really lose out on anything by keep lowering their prices, while ArenaNet on the other hand would end up getting way too little income in order to stay alive.
Suggestion 2 might work.
What needs to be done though is getting people to understand that it is basically the players fault that there is a large amount of gold-selling spam. If no-one bought from them, they would stop and move on. And if people actually had secure accounts they would not get hacked accounts to use, which would also lessen and potentially remove the issue.
Enjoying your no sub fee model? Lol. The entire game is designed around funneling as many players as possible into the cash shop by severely restricting loot and gold gained through simply playing the game.
$15 a month is worth NEVER seeing a “buy now” button on my UI or messages like in the OP in my chat box. Yeah, yeah, they have to make money so I’d rather just pay them a flat fee and hope they make a fun game with it.
They don’t really funnel people into using the cash shop anyway. I have never felt that the game as pushed me towards the gem-store. I know it is there and I can use it if I want to, but I have never come into a situation where I have felt forced to use it.
They INFORM people that they can buy stuff that they might have missed. Which people have DEMANDED more or less since release.
Funny, I have seen those $15 a month games with buy now buttons as well. But I suppose that doesn’t count?
Funny.
People have been complaining about not getting this information in-game and therefore risked missing it.
Now they told us in-game so that people won’t miss it, and now we are complaining about that as well?
Belinda doesn’t really have a noble demeanor though.
Lordkrall, it looks like you’re out-numbered. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but that doesn’t make everyone’s opinion right.
But just because a place which is known to have a majority of “haters” outnumber a certain opinion doesn’t mean that said opinion is wrong.
I mean, there were a majority that voted for Hitler as leader of Germany, and I wouldn’t say that Hitler was a “right” choice.
Yep. The title is tied to a new achievement, that you need to complete this time around in order to get it.
I highly suggest you stop working against yourself. part of GW has always been “status” even if a super rare weapon or armor piece looks like trash to you, if its super rare.. your going to show it.
well.. my examples of this in GW2 is Liadri mini, and for more of an example. even the Black Lion weapon skins.. stop releasing minis and items, giving us a date to get the stuff by, and then 4 months later make them available again. its a huge slap in the face for playing YOUR game. you did this in GW1 too and has upset many players. like the festival hats from early years that even a new player can now get? common! horrible. many people I know feel the same as me, and it means enuff for me to get angry at my monitor and get GW2 off the dang screen so I can come to the forums and throw a kitten fit about it.
STOP IT.
So someone that didn’t play during the first release featuring the Gauntlet should never have a chance to get the mini?
They even made it rather clear that they WOULD return the Gauntlet AND the achievements for it.
It does still require skill enough to actually beat the content, so why should your skill count more because you had it a year ago?
The Boss Blitz achievement based on the number of times you have done the whole event, not based on the number of bosses you have killed
Stop spreading FUD. GW1 did it, so why can’t GW2. Plus they could keep the store just not have to focus every second of development time on it.
Because of several factors:
1: They have a massively amount of more employees now.
2: GW2 is a MMORPG, GW1 wasn’t, and as such GW2 require much more resources.
3: GW2 is a much bigger game.
So, tell me how they could survive using the same model as GW1 with that information?
Not to mention the fact that GW1 didn’t really work out for long like that either, seeing as they stopped after about 1,5 years with it.
But seriously, the next LS should be a voting release like Kiel vs. Evon. We vote for or against the mega-server. The tally can be seen in game so no funny business goes on with Anet fudging the numbers. They could add in all sorts of activities so that you can get tokens to vote with.
I would grind so hard to get tokens to fill the “Get rid of MegaServer” box.
Yeah, and when the voting is over people will just accept the result, no matter what it is, right?
It is fully possible for them to change the numbers even if they are visible if they wanted to, so that wouldn’t really work either (and people unhappy with the result would use that as an argument as well).
The major point was that E is more probable male and is not a good candidate for being Canach’s owner. (Sorry for the thief argument, it doesn’t belong in this thread)
In a world where people can change their appearance (and that of others) at will it isn’t really that farfetched to assume they can also alter their voice though.
The main issue with having mini-games doable with guilds is that they would have to either have two different version (one for organized groups and one for solo-joining) otherwise it would basically be impossible for non-guild sides to win. Which most likely make it rather boring for them.
Yesterday I had my first real MegaServer experience (I mainly PvP and WvW) in the Pavilion.
And for some reason more or less every single guild or commander in that map were from my server, Aurora Glade.
So clearly the system DOES take server and such into account, despite what people in this thread seems to claim.
I don’t think you are wrong.
I have a feeling that what we are seeing is a combination of milking the current playerbase and targeting a different market on another continent that has literally hundreds of millions of people.
The China market is HUGE. Even if this is just a cashgrab strategy, they can make bank and not care if the game itself died a quick death.
Ah yes. I am sure they would be willing to put 300+ people (and friends) out of a job for some swift dollars….
Oh, one of the hints for S2 it would seem!
Good find.
Why do people ignore the fact that less gold being created (less extreme farms) the less stuff will cost, and as such the less people actually have to farm.
If anything these nerfs benefits players and the game rather than the other way around.
Re-bolded the really important part of it for you.
But I’ll be happy not to pay a silver for that event anymore and let White Knights enjoy the gold sink till the moment their funds are drained and they take out their credit cards to convert gems to gold or are unable to get gems from gold.
So you mean people that have a few silvers that they could possible spend?
Yeah I sure must take out my credit card in order to get those few silvers
Aye, I did the same. And got a bit confused about all those random 1-hit kills I saw. But tried a couple of games today and seems to be working as intended now.
except that its broken as kitten, at least last night when I tried. Too many instant deaths to I don’t even know what it was.
Which was fixed yesterday evening with a hotfix.
Good you have enough extra in-game money to start the Pavillion donation event (required for receiving achievements) which returns you a couple of greens.
Bold part is the key-word here.
OP seemed to imply that there were stuff that required real-life money.
And to be fair it is extremely unlikely that you are alone in starting an event, so you wouldn’t really need that much money anyway.
They just finished nerfing the last of the gold generating methods in the game. Pretty much the only way to get gold in a reliable manner is either a- playing the TP or b- with a credit card.
Hence the announcement.
Yeah, or running dungeons.
Or doing world bosses.
Or gathering materials and sell.
Wait what?
Which content requires us to pay with real money? I must have missed that, but nothing on the Sanctum or in the Pavillion required me to pay a single real life coin. So please, enlighten us.
I do not think sprockets were added this patch, even though the Pavilion is back. That makes this pick very strong…
You can buy the Sprocket Generator for the home-instance though.
Strange that you look at it that way. The way I look at it. Because this is a B2P game we should not get the F2P cash—shop focus but get an expansion every year we have to pay for if we want the content.
That is how I look at it. sadly it tunred into a cash-shop game that has the F2P negatives.
And you look at it like that because you are completely unable to understand how much work and money an expansion would take and thus it would not be possible to survive on expansions alone.
I got two air-filter masks with the first 10 I opened, but the last 115 only gave Quartz, Recipes, Tokens and Tickets.
Thats the thing though.
If they give a estimate people will rip them apart if something delays it.
Oh Im going to laugh so hard if they left out SPvP again. Anet’s reward team never can seem to remember they have that game mode.
This is quite funny.
Now we hear this.
Next they add drops for it in PvP.
Then we hear people complaining about getting boring Living Story stuff they didn’t ask for in PvP.
So, who should they listen to?
during the first patches you could be quite sure they hit around 7-8 pm, as far as i can remember, point still stands though. It is very disappointing to have to wait all evening and then not even being able to play it because it hits in the middle of the night. 11-12 pm might be not all that late for some people, but yeah.
I seem to recall that one of the first major patches was released quite late. But it was quite some time ago so I might remember incorrectly.
The point remain though: They have never had a set time, nor have they ever stated a set time-frame other than a specific date.
You also have to keep in mind that they can’t really cater to the EU time-zones since they have to actually be at work to deploy the patch.
which can be translated as in four hours i guess?
i wish they would go back to the set times, don’t mind that it hits at 12 pm gmt+1 time, but it would be nice to know so that i don’t have to get my hopes up when i will only be able to play tomorrow evening.
They have never had set times.
Because sending e-mails after the page is up is too hard.
Yeah, because we all know they did this on purpose…
Another thing to keep in mind is that the mails are sent out in waves, and as such they probably start sending them as soon as they get to work and can’t really wait until half the day is gone. Since that would basically mean about half the people won’t get the main until tomorrow.
Well, since the page itself is not up on the website (at least not visible) they would have a hard time putting a working link in
The link itself does most likely actually link to the correct page, but yeah well, since the page doesn’t exist right now it will give us an error.
