The only reason why I’m leveling a thief is because they are over powered. I hope I can level him fast enough and kick some kitten in wvw before anet nerfs them.

My suggestion would be to check out some of the great Thief videos and demos on “How to” that are posted on the internet.

I was a amazed when our wandering band of 10 guildies got tied up in knots by a stealth thief when we were doing a karma train on an off night in WvWvW. That player was having a great time messing with us and probably laughing all the time.

My hat was off to his play techniques and even my guild mates had to agree it had to be a very good player to do that to such a large group of us. At least half of our 10 were serious pvprs and none of us were on our 80 characters. We finally got him down but it took a bit of time and wrangling to do it.

But the Thief is amazing if played to its strengths.

I am also very disappointed in the direction “support” functions are implemented. I like helping out in groups. But, because I never got any loot worth much when I used my heals or other support talents, I stopped doing it.

When in a large group fighting a world boss, I think support should be equal attention for loot drops as the dps/direct damage does.

I do miss healing which I enjoyed in other games. It was not that easy..you really had to pay attention and being a group healer meant you also had to watch your cleanses, buffs and debuffs for the group as well as the heals.

I was so hoping after reading Anet’s idea of support that I would be able to slide into the support role and add my dps along with cc’s and stuff as we rolled through content. I was extremely disappointed that support became Friday’s red-haired step-child and ignored.

Actually the major problem is how the game targets, Instead of in front closest targeting it just targets wherever it wants even far far away targets and often behind you.

…yes…very poor targeting options. Not just enemy targets…it targets anything be it a moa, wolf, friendly npc, etc.

Well, suggestion forum just seemed to be the most appropriate for ideas that GW2 devs might explore. I for one like the idea that a dev team not over reach their scope. “… scope that was too big and difficult to deliver.”

On another note: “… the concept of creating multi-disciplinary strike teams. That’s the idea of assigning a designer, engineer, artist, writer, QA person, etc together to solve problems across disciplines, instead of doing the traditional handoffs or throwing stuff over the wall.”

I think both of these ideas actually make better sense than just dumping content after content without really making sure what you have implemented actually works for the majority of your player base. I would much rather have a team be totally involved so that they can work together to test/find/fix issues before they start on more content.

I just ran across a very thought provoking article that made absolute sense. I’ve always wondered why games seem to be struggling and could not put my finger on why.

GW2 Optimization?

My game performance has suffered more since this last patch than prior to it. I’ve had 3 game client disconnects in just the past two days and a lot of lag where I never experienced it before.

Loading screens seem to be doubled than it used to be. I do not have any idea why this is happening.

I have been disconnected three times now ever since this last game patch. Twice yesterday (Fri 6-7) and once tonight (6-8). The only remedy I’ve been able to use to resolve this is to completely restart the game and 2 out of 3 times I’ve actually just rebooted my pc.

Same error all three times. This is annoying.

Yesterday I lost game connection twice, the second time it happened I took a screen shot.

This occurred on Yak’s Bend Server before the server reset for the borderlands. (7:03pm EST)

Game freezes after last patch. (28-may)

Hey everyone, I am unsure if all of our problems are related; however, I fixed mine with the help of ANet support yesterday.

It appears that the recent patch did not agree well with my overclocking. I reset my BIOS to default settings and the game runs fine again. I am guessing this has to do with the CPU optimizations of the last couple of patches.

Well, that is interesting, because I experienced this very problem twice on Thursday and had to completely reboot my system to get past it.

I do not overclock anything on my pc. I’ve got a quad core pc with all my graphics set down to low or medium so that I don’t get that annoying sound bug. It appears every patch there is some new wrinkle to this as I have experienced game freezes about 3 out of 4 times immediately after a new patch is implemented.

Bug: Exit to Cursed Shores

Yak’s Bend Server ~ date 5-3-2013
While manning the cannons on deck for the personal story “Ships of the Line” I kept getting the pop up saying: “Exit to Cursed Shores – Yes/No.”

We also experienced this while under deck but I did not get a screen shot of that one.

Attached is a screen shot showing what I kept getting while trying to man the cannon on deck. Very frustrating. Please fix.

Yea….I second this. My mesmer keeps getting unintended moas, boars, and other “yellow” named npcs attacking her due to this problem.

Karka Queen event frustration

It was ridiculous. Not only were the adds more difficult to take down as a whole, the wind riders decided to enter the contest as well. All of a sudden one spawned right beside me and decided I was fair game and ignored everyone else…you can guess the out come.

Fortunately, because I was way off to the side some warrior took pity on me, killed the wind rider and rezzed me so that I could actually add my dps to the fight.

Does not make sense that so many adds show up to the party and trash the place even before we can reach the Karka Queen.

I have had delays in receiving chests and achievements (even dailies) several times this past month. Do not understand why there is a delay since everything else seems to be running smoothly…no lag, no hiccups, etc.

Salvage kits don't recover upgrades

I never get any upgrades when using a basic salvage kit. If I want the upgrade that is in the piece, I use Master Kit or BL salvage kit, depending upon the upgrade contained.

Most of my salvaging is metal, wood, fabric from basic kits.

My only suggestion for the Ranger class is that we have the option to “stow” our pets in fights without it bouncing out all the time. Even if put on passive, the AI for the pet is an issue. I want the option of my pet being permanently stowed without worrying about it causing issues if I want to play a portion of the game without it running with me.

Missing the UI seems to be a new problem. I’ve only noticed it recently so something incorporated in the last couple of patches is causing this issue.

I find half of my UI totally blank upon entering the Mists or even upon entering Lion’s Arch from the Mists. It seems to take a few seconds to actually show up, but still it never occurred prior to this past month or so of new game content additions.

I don’t really like crab toss mini game. However, the Wintersday snowball mayhem is one mini game I would be happy if it is made a permanent feature of GW2. That game is addictive, fun and had so much hilarious moments.

I loved the Winter’s Day Snowball Meyhem and I am not a pvp enthusiast by any stretch of the imagination. However, I had a great time doing it and was sorry I only discovered it the day before it went away.

My guild mates told me about it but by the time I was able to log into play, the event was almost over. I would like to see this reinstated as a permanent mini-team event for folks like me.

I really enjoyed it and would love to see it return.

Yesterday I witnessed someone using one of these new sickles, but it looked like he was using a pick ax instead of a sickle.

This is how I understood this setup to be working, which creates a problem if you want to participate in the group dungeon.

I understand that unless you actually DO the single player dungeon, you will NOT be able to participate in the 5 person dungeon.

Canach quest buggy for me. Anybody else?

This all sounds so familiar….rushed content, perhaps not tested enough, or, devs unfamiliar with how to design challenging and sustainable content that won’t break after several hours.

That’s sad. It seems that the Southsun content was rushed and not thought through very well. Granted, you can use retaliation to beat this boss…but what fun is there in that?

I like challenging encounters but not necessarily too easy or too difficult. Because not every class is balanced equally nor are players equally able (I mean this in the kindest way) because I am not the best player, it appears we will have “unequal” encounters depending upon your point of view. A poor player like myself, will find these things difficult to do on say my Elementalist, but my Ranger or Mesmer may not have any problem with it. I just think my gear and skill level varies depending on which character I am using to complete it with. But in the long run, being a poor player myself, I find it odd that I can just mash buttons on one character due to the gear/skill set but not on another.

People seem to roll from one extreme to another. F&F was all no forced group content, SS is all no forced single player content. We could have both. Why gate off group content behind the wall of single player content? Just have both readily available. I have no problems with solo instances as long as there is an option to party, like in the personal story or an already available group version. You can easily please both group and solo crowds. There’s no reason to resort to extremes.

The single player is one room with one boss, then you get the option to do a multiplayer explorable mode.

IMO saying you’re not going to do any of it because you have to kill 1 boss alone is like saying you won’t do AC with friends because you have to run across Ashford solo to meet them.

Sorry you feel that way. I have done solo runs with my story but did not really enjoy them. I don’t get why Anet did not just offer the option to do it solo instead of forcing it.

I have been playing this game since launch and have to agree with Boreale.3129 that so much feels “rushed,” “incomplete,” and “buggy.” I am not adverse to single player games – for folks that like that sort of game. But I much prefer to run with friends which is why I choose “multi-player” games.

For the most part when things run smoothly in GW2, I truly enjoy it. But I have been running into bug after bug after bug and just am not enamored with that.

I agree with a lot of players that Anet just seems to be rushing to get content out and forgetting to address a lot of problems that are still in the game from launch.

I really wanted to like this game more than I do and am quickly tiring of all the issues that pop up.

I suspect the best option for future content would be to make it available for parties from 1-5 and make it scale to the number of players.

Of course people will complain about the scaling, either saying it’s too hard with one person, too easy with 5 or more likely both, but at least they’d be able to do it with their personal favourite number of players.

I agree with this option. Now that I know that instance for Canach is single player only, I will not be doing any of it.

I much prefer to do these with friends, even if only for two of us. I detest single player ONLY dungeon ideas and feel it gimps those who want to bring along friend(s).

Steam Jump Puzzle sample

Aha…jumping in puzzles or otherwise. I have 5 characters and only one who can actually make most jumps. I have no idea why unless the specific profession of each is causing different things at different times to happen.

I suck at jumping, but I have been practicing and what I discovered was that while standing still and just hitting your space bar works for static straight up jumps, it does not work when you need to move forward at the same time. I tried moving forward with my mouse (like I was taking a step) then using the space bar works fairly well most of the time, but not always.

Otherwise, there are times where hitting the space bar then move forward with my mouse (like I am running), works in other situations.

Summary: Obviously, not all jumping situations are the same. But practice does help.

How long to get backpieces?

If you have done all the collections or only 10 of the 11, jumped into the crab toss arena and back out, some of the many consortium and settler events, …did I miss any?

Anyway, I got my flower as a reward on screen as I completed that particular achievement. You can read all about it by looking on the Hero tab and selecting the Southsun events item. There is a list there and they explain pretty much what you need for these.

The achievement should stick around, so when you reach level 75 you should be able to munch on it and get the achievement point. I don’t foresee Owain giving up on making omelettes.

I’m currently still working on my ability to see the future, but know that if other devs intend to change those things and break the achievement, I will fight tooth and nail for it to not be touched.

Besides… At 28th there are new achievements available (the ones about Canach). Then she can finish the 25 achievements without eating that omelett.

We have a guild member who participated in the Southsun events at level 25. She got the collections and all the other things but because she is not level 75, she cannot eat an omelet to complete that achievement.

What happens to those players? Will she be able to obtain the final achievement and the back piece once she finally reaches level 75? That won’t happen for her any time soon as she is a very, very casual player and does not get levels as quickly as others do.

It would be nice that something be in place for her to obtain all that once everything is over with and she finally gets to level 75.

Dungeon token conversions

I have a selection of different dungeon tokens which added together might offer me enough for one item or possibly two. However, each in of itself is insufficient for anything on the current setup.

Suggestion: Allow us to convert dungeon tokens into something that can be used universally. So if I have 95 Ascalonian Tears, allow me to combine them with perhaps 75 seals of Beetletun in order to obtain one item I can actually purchase for use.

We have so many different tokens in the game right now that many players have a few of one or another but not enough in one specific group to get anything.

I see no reason why we can’t do this. Obviously it would take 2 lower level tokens to = 1 middle or higher level token, but even at that rate of exchange it would be worth it to combine.

I also have a Ranger, but I’ve not experienced many issues since they fixed the pet AI recently. Occasionally, my bear will not attack on command but normally, no problem.

I have not seen any improvement. I run my necro with pets all the time, but have not seen where there have been any changes to the pet AI at all.

Sometimes my Flesh Golem will attack, more often than not, he just stands there watching the enemy come for us. Occasionally, all pets will just swirl behind me and not do anything in the fighting except perhaps die.

I really like the idea of a pet necro build but am getting frustrated because I cannot do anything in this build.

It is not possible to shuffle any of our skills on the hot bars. Although you probably can remap them, it just causes issues later on when you play a different character or, as mentioned, swap weapons.

I do wish they would allow us to do this, but at present not possible.

I was surprised when I stopped by the repair bear up in Frostgorge today and saw double. This is the first time I’ve ever seen this happen. But immediately after I took this screen shot the npc repair bear turned and ran into the tent behind him and disappeared.

I looked around the area to find him again in order to get repaired, but he was long gone. His mirror image was standing there but that was just a standard npc not the repair one.

This is at that little walled camp just west of where the Claw of Jormag dragon lands up in Frostgorge. I do not know why the repair bear did not respawn there but I ended up having to go to another spot to get repaired.
