You can buy the materials to make it in the forge. That’s what pvers who don’t run fractals do anyway.
Apart from the Southsun piece you need a mat that can only be obtained by running fractals, the glob of fractal essence or whatever its called.
Halloween items…
Man, I regretted not having the cash to buy a Greatsaw because it was hidden in RNG and at the time I didn’t have the cash in the trading post.
Yes the halloween stuff pretty please.
So I went to cursed shore today to try out the farm, and the majority want staff guardians and only staff guardians for the events.
OK but you can just ignore them its an open world event after all.
BG now has Commander Kidinkk :0 yeyeye
How much did they pay you?
The rumor that I just made up says that BG War Council paid him 10,000g + an Eternity to move to BG in an agreement that he would continue to make videos and insert BG propaganda in each of them.
You’d do it just for the lulz wouldn’t you.
There’s your problem. You’ll have to quit school and your job if you want to keep up with the people who play (correction: farm) 18 hrs per day. Time = money and you need one or the other to keep up with the Joneses.
But the game is meant to be for casuals.
As for how the OP is being left behind one could infer that the sudden increase in certain T6 mats into the game world/economy is a precursor to something in the future. Especially when one looks at the recipes for the new items available from this patch and the recent looking ahead blog post. Thus the OP will be behind the 8ball compared to those who can farm if certain developments pan out that way.
Hello there,
I have one small question that’s been on my mind for a while now
Do the rewards in the world rank chest get better once we reach a higher rank, or do they just stay the same? Is it also possible to get rare’s or even exotic’s from these chests?
Its based on your character level ie. if you’re on a lowbie you will get rewards for that level not level 80 stuff. And yes if you’re at level 80 you can get up to ascended gear, I’ve had 1 ascended item drop.
Basically the MMO climate is set so that if the game doesn’t offer the player something better or more focused to their individual interests (PvP for example), then there’s no way it can succeed in the long term sitting in a genre with Guild Wars 2. I think they realize the position they’ve put themselves in, and in that climate they don’t need to focus on PvP content. Say TESO launches and their RvR spin off is a smash hit, best combat system ever made, bar-none. It’s going to attract basically everyone who’s looking for what GW2 can’t deliver on, and in so doing the development focus of Zenimax will have to accommodate this crowd with the bulk of their resources.
It already is the focus of the PvP side of the game, cause they don’t have instanced PvP arenas or battlegrounds, or at least they won’t initially. Thus there isn’t the stupid obsession with making the game an e-sport.
We believe in WvW both as a game type and as a source of revenue. Perceived lack of resources devoted to WvW should be balanced against reasonable expectations of what can be achieved by any resources. It takes a lot less time to build new ability lines than it does to, say, build a new home map.
Sorry but this rings a bit hollow when looking at the new maps in the PvE and sPvP sides of the game.

Does extremely small allocation of dev resources, ineffective monetization, and alt excluding measures like one character only WXP lead to poor revenues?
Which came first??
Clearly this, right up until the removal of culling and the WXP intro WvW got nothing.
Item 3 Create an archetype system in WxP traits that essentially mean you have a WvW specific class. You take groups of traits. You lump them together. You allow a character to have access to just one of these lumps and presto, you have a reason to level an alt. So now you can have a “Defender” archetype
This is clearly what they should have done from the beginning if they were so set on trying to make this a character progression system.
We will not be changing WvW ranks or WxP to be account bound. However, we are going to be implementing a host of changes that should make this seem less like some sort of punishment(a categorization I disagree with entirely)
That makes it seem like you have a lack of understanding about what players are objecting to.
and more of a character progression system. The first step is the liquid WXP that is being added to the rank up chests which is account-bound. We are planning additional systems as well. Hopefully, as we continue to announce some of those changes, you will be happier with the system.
Like others have said this looks like you are admitting you were wrong its obviously a workaround. But it will depend on the level of WXP we gain from the liquid WXP, IMHO anything less than 1 level will make this seem like you’re just doing it just to be seen as doing something.
Plus the problem will still exist that those who use only 1 character are still at a a great advantage.
Also available from Caudacus Mansion
WXP Pool can be account bound while abilities can be character bound. Seems fair
I think this is a great idea.
Me too I vote for this idea, preserves individual character development whilst not curtailing alt aholics.
No! I agree with Belle, I don’t give a flying monkey kitten what my WXP rank is and it totally baffles that so many of you do or think you are somehow sub-optimal in this easy cake walk super duper casual version of PvP. They made the WXP stuff total fluff because it is not the point of the game, just a little extra bit for those who get so freaking progression obsessed.
The extra vitality or damage you get from maxing the guard trait lines is clearly significant and you are clearly sub optimal without it.

Whats the excuse for not giving mesmers a much needed 25% movement speed increase?
Im willing to sacrifice the 10% boon passive for said passive. At least make it usable only in PvE, or out of combat (and only getting on combat when YOU hit something, not when a random skritt throws something at you)
Anet?
If you make it a one time use item that costs almost 3g to build then sure…
Leaving aside the speed issue who the hell at arenanet though this was a good idea? You would have to be mindbogglingly stupid to build and use these given the cost.
Then there’s the gem store salvage kit……..
Your chest thumping is making you look bad.
He replies to a provocative trollish post in kind and he’s chest thumping?
They could have made it so that each character gets a number of points to spend based on the WvW total of your account. Just sayin’
This is not a bad idea and probably a good compromise between the 2 extremes.
It has recently occurred to me that one of the next major changes in MMO mechanics may be to make progression largely account bound. Maybe there can be horizontal progression mechanics for individual characters like weapon skills and skill acquisition. It would also have to be worked to allow players to have individual characters scale down to do the storyline separately.
I don’t know why they chose to give you loot bags for killing champs instead of giving them for completing the DEs those champs are involved in.
This is the obvious way to go.
I understand that people want things easy but wxp should be a toon xp measurement not an account wide. If you want an account wide then give the bonus that you can spend to account wide but a level 3/80 necro should not get a level 50 title simply because an alt played more wvw
Its not about wanting things easy, when advanced wxp trait lines offer stat bonuses those who want to play on alts are clearly disadvantaged.
2) We will continue to work on these abilities in the hopes of making them more fun and providing more variety. We are however quite set on not adding power creep, at least not much, which makes them fairly constrained. We have yet to unleash our craziest ideas.
What about making them account bound especially since the number of abilities has increased dramatically since the system was introduced. It was arguable as to whether it should be account or character bound in the beginning but the increase in the number of abilities has clearly disadvantaged those who want to play with alts to a large degree.
I complained quite loudly against RNG in cash shop boxes. What, that doesn’t count?
But IIRC you then backtracked on those criticisms at least somewhat.
Do we really need another thread on this, why not just piggyback no Vayne’s thread?
Investigation kit breaks pve, patched within a few hours.
New untested effects handling system breaks wvw. Expecting patch in Q1 2014.
Plus stupidly high rewards accidentally given in the queens pavilion or whatever its called patched within hours, gotta protect the cash shop.
So once again a patch that is completely inadequately tested. How was this not picked up? There are people complaining about this in PvE as well.
Ok, yes it was a tool to create hype, you’re absolutely right about that, but backhanding it by saying it’s dishonest is just silly. Point me to any advertizement that is 100% honest. I think the problem is people approaching the manifesto with the same attitude as approaching a dictionary or encyclopedia. This was just a video of some human beings trying to hype up their product that they were very excited about, not scientific documentation to be analyzed. People take the manifesto way too seriously, and take this perceived “betrayal” way too personally.
While it was used to help market the game its not an advertisement or even presented as such really. Plus its not just the 1 video, its the blog post about it plus numerous other blog posts and comments from devs from around the same time up until the game was released.
They knew how people interpreted how they were marketing the game because it was all over the relevant forums yet they continued marketing the game the same way so yeah it was deceptive.
A fact is a fact. Me saying anyone who’s looked into would know the fact isn’t condescending, in spite of the fact you want to paint me that way. It’s just not true.
All you have is opinion not fact, you’re an editor you should understand that.
(edited by morrolan.9608)
They didn’t add Pristine relics because it’s not something people would have stacks of. those that do run fractals every single day since November and are probably in the top 5%
?
Doesn’t matter its still a currency, pretty similar to laurels actually..
It won’t be 6 hours, thats a worst case scenario. IIRC last time it was more like 3 hours.
I’m sure this incoming patch will bring new maps, new strategic points of interest and a whole new range of strategy.
Man WvW will be so fresh and exciting…
Is that a pig I see outside my window……….
They drop at a pretty fair rate in Southsun Survival.
Not really I’ve played many games and not got it.
Wrong, this from someone who has been playing WvW from the start
So just because you have played WvW from the start you have better information than ArenaNet themselves about increase of WvW activity?
OK now lets see some actually numbers.
1: Wrong forum
2: gw2s player population is steadily growing, including wvw
Wrong, this from someone who has been playing WvW from the start
This is exactly what I’m talking about – why do you think you should have these things without putting in the work to get them?
But one of the points of this thread is that TP flippers don’t actually have to put much work in themselves.
Semantics, change it to guild then, guilds on BG and TC do it as well so why try to create QQ about SOR guilds?
Cause a guild should be held responsible for its members’ actions?
Contact the guild leaders then, its easy enough to do for such a well known guild as iron. All putting it on the forums does is create qq leading to the unpleasantness in most threads involving BG and SOR.
This is what it looks like every time IRON takes a keep. Same goes for the chat box.
Is it such a wonder why you get so much attention on the forums? :P
Ya know it is usually one guys spamming it all and usually a pug.
Call me skeptical.
I’ve seen both TC and BG do this. Let’s all just agree that there are kids playing this game and not hold the servers accountable for these acts, mhmmkay.
I agree, servers should not be held responsible.
I guess if a server was called out, then you would be making a point right now.
Semantics, change it to guild then, guilds on BG and TC do it as well so why try to create QQ about SOR guilds?
The Phoenix, Magitech, and Braham armor skins some of you saw in the pvp locker last week are finally in the gemstore! 800 gems per armor skin as usual.
Here are some pics and preview codes: http://dulfy.net/2013/07/24/gw2-phoenix-magitech-braham-armor-gallery/
Whilst I appreciate new armor skins being available they don’t look good enough and aren’t distinct enough from ingame skins for me to buy.
Why should people be punished for being smart?
Cause the game isn’t an economic simulator or even a sandbox. The TP should be there to support the actual game, but it doesn’t.
So we’re not supposed to make money at a decent rate unless we are screwing others out of their money by flipping items on the TP and being leeches on the system?
COF path 1 does not make you money at a decent rate, it makes it at an accelerated rate, out of kilter with the rest of the game bar TP flipping. FWIW I don’t like TP flipping either.
and these people are not in Tier 1.
1. There are no tiers any more.
2. It is possible to want to be part of large scale fights and not care about the PPT.
It always amuses me when I see stuff like this. What does it matter if all the majority of people do is run CoF p1?
Cause it creates inflation.
I would be very surprised if its not account bound. They are clearly trying to cut down on using easy dungeons for gold farming.
If you watch the entire manifesto instead of focusing on two lines, you’d see the TYPE of grind being referred to, having nothing to do with legendaries. I keep telling you you’re talking the sentence out of context, but you keep doing it.
Repeating a falsehood over and over doesn’t make it a truth.
You’re being disingenuous here you very well know there are differing interpretations of the manifesto.
It’s just a cheap technique to get you to log in everyday. It’s more costly to develop actual content.
yes because guild wars 2 is the slowest game to release new content right?
This is actually a point I’ve made in another thread. With the 2 week content releases they shouldn’t need to indulge in such anti player designs. From what I understand there are no plans for quartz beyond the celestial armor and trinkets which makes the time gating ludicrous.
I don’t think it was an exploit per se, but the event was clearly broken since players couldn’t enter the dungeon. Thus the fix.
The dungeon waypoint doesn’t get contested at all by the arah event.
One of ArenaNet’s goals, as seen in their Manifesto, was to make a MMO for those who don’t like MMOs – in other words, make a game for people who want to have fun as opposed to giant time sinks disguised as content.
They failed. The Guild Wars 2 community is made by farmers, grinders, addicts and exploiters in their ninth MMORPG.
Moreover the content is now based around being a time sink for those type of players.
I disagree, what ArenaNet did was take a page out of the sandbox game manual and did what they said they’d do in the manifesto, play the way you want.
I can’t play the game the way I want.
(edited by morrolan.9608)
More RNG rewards, you’d think they would kittening learn but no they don’t.
The Bazaar was good because you could earn the rewards rather than just relying on RNG.
With WvW power builds what armor and trinkets do people use? Knights, zerker, valkyrie or cavalier?
(edited by morrolan.9608)
Right now it is a real issue with one particular tier 1 server that is infamous for tolerating the use of arrow cart hacks by their guilds and players.
This would be the server where guilds have kicked players out where cheating on ACs has been proven. Most incidents of it are not actual hacking.
Plus AC hacking has been seen to be done by players on all servers its just that some choose to make complaints through the proper channels.
Cause its boring with only 1 victory type. The lack of tangible rewards doesn’t help either.
However, SOR and JQ TOGETHER (I have to capitalize words because some people fail to actually read them) caused this problem.
Of course BG is entirely blameless.
The fact is all servers stacked, its a vicious circle, blaming one or the other is just silly at this point.
Time gating and DR = makes sure people who spent time in the game doesn’t go too far ahead of those who spent little time.
I don’t buy that with regards to charged quartz crystals. The gear it’s used to make is of the same tier and the stats offered give no competitive advantage over someone wearing any other exotic-tiered gear. And even if they were better than the other exotic gear (they’re not), letting players sell them on the Trading Post would have instantly leveled the playing field.
Yeah but thats because its a test case for the introduction of ascended armor.
So player behavior has absolutely NO impact on ArenaNet’s decisions? They just make their decisions in a vacuum to screw over players and to prevent us from making money? I find that very difficult to believe.
They make decisions to increase their revenue by forcing players towards the cash shop including such means as making it much harder to farm. There is no actual justification for DR in the game any more just for example.
