Canach’s Lair(both versions) seems poorly implemented. The one time where actual voiceovers would have been useful(for the warnings about the traps) they didn’t bother adding it. Why do disabled traps detonate? The pace of both battles also feels extremely sluggish. Disable trap -> run over to trap -> watch NPC completely ignore you and there is nothing you can do about it sequence makes it ‘play it once then forget it exists’ content.
Someone also needs to rein in the designers’ excessive love for CC.
This, after the flame and frost finale this was a massive disappointment. If this is what a 2 week turnaround means go back to monthly and do a proper job.

Mind sharing on what your conclusion is based? Because as far as I can remember, the loot nerf that players had reported for months, and which was initially denied by Anet’s staff for months, was eventually confirmed to by Anet to be true. It was caused by a “bug” which ignored people’s contribution to a mob kill to be registered. As a result, they didn’t get any loot.
Nope. You remember it wrong. The bug which made people get less drops when killing enemies with a lot of health, such as champions, had been in the game since release. All that whining about a “nerf” to the drop rate was just that, empty whining.

The complaints were about poor drop rates and in fact were proved to be 100% correct. People may have been incorrect about it being deliberate but they were correct about there poor drop rates. And indeed Anets handling of the whole issue left a lot to be desired.
Changes to important things like salvage rates would be listed in the update notes if they have changed. If it’s not in the update notes, then no changes have been made by the development team.
Well Regina was right, if it was intentional there would have been a patch note. No patch note so wasn’t intentional. All she was missing the word intentional after “no” and before “changes”. She wasn’t blowing us off as much as confirming that it wasn’t by design. But some people will always misconstrue the worse.
Except they have made intentional changes that haven’t appeared in the patch notes before.
Can we please have the door’s on the keeps/SM take more than an enemy looking at them funny to contest?

Why is everyone complaining about getting greens?
Well for one thing one of the devs implied that either we would get rares or at least a good chance of rares.

Why hasn’t it been reduced already? Not good enough that it wasn’t fixed in this patch or even the previous one.
Out of all the game breaking bugs in this game. I highly doubt more than one or two people care about a pick or sickle animation on an item designed to rip you off 10 bucks. I maybe wrong, who knows
We’re paying 800 gems the animation should be good, instead anet have obviously taken the cheap way out. That animation looks ridiculous for a sickle.

Agree with this, and to those talking about T2 needing another guild tiers won’t matter after this week in case you missed the change.
Just something for WvWers to note if you weren’t aware already that ascended items are unique which means you can’t equip 2 of the same item. You can however purchase 2 of the same item with no warning, and once you equip it its soulbound.
Personally, I think in this case, AC may have serve it’s purpose. Zergs should be blasted and wiped until Anet finds a way to limit zergs doing pvdoors.
The zergs have increased in size due to the AC buff .
SOR has the highest % of zergs and wvw players. You cannot escape the fact that large guilds like Tsym that built up from SOS and large zergie guild like Iron from EU side added to SOR to help build their already massive zergs.
All 3 T1 servers zerg, in fact the times I play (oceanic) BG is far more likely to be zerging than SOR.

I have received 6 wvw chests so far and each chest gave one piece of siege, 5 badges and one green. Underwhelmed atm but perhaps the higher ranking chests have a better chance at something worthwhile.
One of the devs made a comment to the effect of supply of ectos increasing due to the chests, well it doesn’t look like it given the chance of even a rare is obviously low.
it would be RNG, I thought from the initial dev comments that we were going to have a good chance of getting good loot but it looks like the chance of anything good will be extremely small.
5 minutes is a ridiculously low amount of time especially if you’re building siege by yourself, it should be 10 mins

Hmm I thought we were going to be guaranteed a rare from the dev comments, whats the bet the chance for exotic/ascended/precursor is so low as to be worthless.
No WvW ascended items available for badges, just slight discounts, and accessories are totally off the menu.
Um we’ve known for a week or more now that ascended items would cost laurels as well as badges. IMHO the price is OK. I was afraid they might do something stupid and charge 500 badges.
The issue IMHO is the backpacks which are still only available by doing fractals except the sclerite one.

I think this is exactly what ArenaNet did (successfully, imo) with the Instigator (which includes a nice chest reward) and crazed wave events in Southsun. Those events are easily farmable and don’t seem to suffer unecessarily from DR – especially when you throw in the escort chain that connects the two areas they take place and the packs of skelk/karka/wind riders (and passiflora nodes) across the island.
I think the design (which I believe was specifically developed – at least partially – with farmers in mind) bodes well for people who enjoy farming in these games.
These are time limited events not ongoing.

hint hint the guide was put together by multiple guilds doing it on their first time. The mission had to be completed before they would post a guide on it.

No this sort of thing has to be built into the game from the start.
Borderlands – can be fun with friends, but once again you’re following a quest after quest after quest, you don’t farm.
There was endgame farming using the General Knox armory exploit or simply just farming crawmerax (I think that was the name). Although it has to be said that players got a lot of phat loot throughout the game, a major difference to GW2 and most mmos.

Your health is really low with that build and your armor isn’t high either. I would say you need PVT trinkets and probably armor as well.
As for the build I and most guardians I know run a variant of the altruistic healing build which is 0/0/30/30/10. At the moment I’m running a retaliation variant: 0/0/30/20/20, another popular variant is 0/15/30/20/5. Look in the guardian forum.
ANET thinks it knows best how you want to play the game and makes changes aimed at forcing you in that direction.
And then makes statements about players being able to play the way they want.
And your excuse?
There were an excessive number of bots at that location on several servers, so the spawns during the event (only) had their loot reduced. No changes were made to any creature outside the event, including wraiths in other locations. We tried to find the simplest, safest change possible. I hope that answers the question, but I really don’t want to get into a debate about “What is farming?” or “Does farming hurt the economy?” or “Economy? It’s a game, who cares?”

Yes, I am biased against games that require a subscription. Why? Because these games all copy the gear-progression repetitive-content mechanics refined by Blizzard, which are essentially designed to keep people p(l)aying every month. I will no longer rent MMO’s. If I want to rent a game I’ll buy a console and go to Redbox.
GW2 has plenty of OCD exploiting mechanisms designed to keep you playing and spending cash in the gem shop.

As the blog post stated, at the end of the day we are really just going to see a bit of nice slight subtle movement so that match-ups are less stale, and eventually ratings are more accurate.

Problem is the example given is not a subtle movement.
What this means, is the underdogs of each matchup have a huge handicap where rating is concerned. They don’t have to beat the higher rating server, they just have to put up a fight, and the ratings will adjust.
Problem is this doesn’t occur, the pugs on the server being roflstomped inevitably give up for the week and it results in a boring week for both servers. I’ve been in the middle of it happening on both sides. I’m in favour of a system which mixes it up a bit while still trying to provide some competitive matchups, based on the examples given this won’t happen because the ranking ends up being adjusted by too much. They clearly need to adjust it.
This will go into effect for the matchups beginning on the 31st.
Is that RNG range set in stone? Because those examples are quite ludicrous and indicate that there needs to be tweaking.
This is a great move, variety is good, yes it will suck for the first week or two but think about the movement that will occur through the servers. The 3 “Tier 1” servers will not be only ones who are able to duke it out for #1 due to the “Glicko” or “Elo” stopping servers from facing harder competition which has been the case a for a while now.
They won’t be ‘duking’ it out for #1 though, the server with the highest rating will still be #1 its just that they might not be battling #2 and #3 in the matchup.

I think ANet wants to secretly kill WvW so that everyone quits complaining about WvW or either quits WvW or does SPvP.

Well they’ll be left with the casual WvW population that they clearly want. The large majority of major guilds still left are going to leave the game when these other releases happen, members will probably still be here on a casual basis but nothing more than that.
How else should it be done? Is it ok to fight the same world over and over if you do not like this?
Already answered, they could decrease the range of the RNG variable to ensure the matchups aren’t as out of kilter as the proposed matchups indicate.
Ask yourself what are they trying to achieve? The answer to that seems to be more variation in the matchups whilst ensuring the matches are at least somewhat competitive. The example given doesn’t provide that.

They can fine tune the variation as we go along,
Why not fine tune it now, ensure the matchups aren’t to out of kilter, then increase the range later on. From the example given they are starting off with far too big a range that will lead to hugely unbalanced matchups.

You can buy full exotics with badges for badges+money. it should cost less than 5G for a full set.
