Don’t forget they can still bunker. Everyone complains about the bunker being too strong, which is true, but they go ahead and nerf all the non-bunker builds.
They’re doing the same to mesmers and engineers as well. Its kittened up and we don’t get a good direct transparent response as to why.
U
I only use Confusion(/condition) based build in WvW, because it’s useless in PvE mostly. So I guess it’s back to Zerker.
And zerker’s best in small groups not in zergs.
All of you mesmers are still kittening about us Thieves? Please. We took the Culling update (which was a legit problem) and the 3s -> 4s Rev debuff update
Which has been reversed hasn’t it? I certainly always see thieves that can attack me then go back into stealth immediately.

Don’t count on it, anet don’t usually provide much in compensation for nerfs. scepter and torch will be almost useless now.
I don’t have any ConditionDamage yet my Confusion does huge amounts of damage. That’s clearly not right. Blanket reducing it to 50% damage would punish those who do spec +CD too much though, imo the scaling/CD contribution needs to be changed, so that the damage is very punishing for those who have high +CD and negligible for those like me who have 0 +CD.
Spot on, but anet have never made more subtle changes like that its always just bang an outright nerf.
BTW I can’t stomach watching the vid, do any of the participants actually raise objections to the change?
(edited by morrolan.9608)
that sad, I usually play professions on the receiving end, and to be honest confusion is no worse than any other strategy. You can counter if it you want to. When people run builds with little condition removal, and then kitten about thngs like this, then you have to think its kind of their fault to be honest.
Exactly, apart from mesmer I have 2 other level 80s and I don’t have a huge problem with glamor mesmers because I make sure I have proper condi removal.
You do realize that you while its being reduced down to spvp lvls you can stack stats higher in WvW. This means that while it’s a bit lackluster in spvp it might be closer to an acceptable medium WvW.
Except its not overpowered in WvW now. The qqing about it comes for those who don’t want to be able to cleanse conditions properly.
Well it was OP… sorry.
Only not, learn to play. Play as a glamor mesmer take notes on those who are able to cleanse the condition.
So Rangers finally get a Quiver outside of Fractals, and it is tossed in the gem store? Yay…
I’d far rather stuff like this was in the gem shop than be gated behind RNG, be forced to grind for it, or pay for it with in game gold.
(edited by morrolan.9608)
What do the well known glamor mesmers like Kylia think about the change?
2. The world is beautiful, but mathematical and mechanical. Where is the story and the lore behind it?
Seriously, when I explore beatiful places around Tyria, or intriguing places (mount maelstrom comes to mind), I’m always interested to know more about them, and to feel them, and how distinct they are from other places. It happens they usually aren’t, at all.
This is exactly why I can’t get world completion.
I’ve seen in several older patch notes that the team is working to improve the PVP, both structured and World. The problem with launch, of course, is that the PVP system was seriously lackluster, and the team is obviously working to improve that.
The only way to improve sPvP is to bring in different game types and they don’t show any inclination to do that. Funny that they have compromised their principles in so many different ways but not on this.
COF p[ath 1 should be nerfed, its ridiculous that they did it to AC but not COF1
Anet announced today in a State of the Game they will be reducing the power of confusion, perhaps to 50% of what it is, like in sPvP.
So they want to make it useless again, fantastic.
My friend,
DAOC will always live in our hearts but this watered down version of real WvWvW is the best we have atm, and until Camelot Unleashed is released,
TESO is coming in between.
For an Australian Guild:
The Kelly Gang
per Colin Johanson:
“Open world online games are always strongest when players are encouraged and rewarded to interact as a community, to support other each other, and when the flow of the game ushers players to go places where they run into other players across all levels and have shared experiences.”
that is why
Yes well we all know how anet sticks to their original promises………… oh wait
My favorite part was where the OP took a quote out of context to make it sound like something worse and then tried to tell us who the politicians are. Would read again.
IMHO the quote is ambiguous and everyone in this thread is putting their own spin on it.
People keep using the word promise. An intention is NOT a promise. Let me give you an example.
They sold the game on these ‘intentions’.
“I swung a sword, I swung a sword again Hey! I swung it again, that’s great”
Do you remember the teaser for GW2 before it’s release? Where Colin Johanson said the above line?, well, isn’t that exactly what we’re doing in the current model?
The context of that quote has nothing to do with auto-attacks. It had to do with basic questing models and progression.
So whats the full quote?
Strange, didn’t know they removed the blogs. Maybe to prevent people from digging up old ‘promises’ they made in some of them (such as account-wide dyes).
And here I thought I was the only person to notice those things.
No you’re not the only one, I brought it up in a thread a week or 2 ago and yes the only reason I can see to do it is to remove what they might consider ‘outdated’ promises.
But on other had, will be better time than 5pm if reset will be 2am your time? EU and Oceanic players will agree with this change. And finally you wont need to quit job to play.
Oceanic players don’t necessarily agree to the change. For NZ players its probably OK, for east coast australia I would think the majority would rather not have to get up for an 8am start (I know I prefer starting at 10.00am, 11 am was even better when we had daylight saving), especially after Fri night and for WA its clearly more inconvenient.
If you are going to split the NA/EU resets anyways, why go ahead with the stop-gap measure that pleases no one?
On top of that, you are going to destroy the Reset Night event has been the highlight of many (if not most) guilds week on the NA servers.
This, its just ridiculous.
Talk about self centered, the entire EU player base complaining about reset times is self-centered, so they can play for those magical two hours between midnight and 2am at the expense of 75% of the NA/SA playerbase. Guess your shortsightedness can’t see beyond your own nose.
The EU players in my guild have said that the extra 2 hours barely makes a different to them anyway. Either way they have to stay up very late to play.

SEA on Tier 1 is a joke, its just JQ PVDoor for FOO and co. I’m surprised they aren’t bored as batdroppings. There is no challenge for them when they outnumber everyone 5 to 1.
I agree, I ’d be bored silly.
<deleted>
Didn;t read the original closely enough.
Personally I believe if they truly wanted to issue a fix for the “reset” issue, then they would have simply moved it to Saturday afternoon, or something along those lines that would be universally time-acceptable for all parties…
Nah, just too simple and obvious, no tinfoil involved.
Yep this is the obvious fix. The fact that they’ve chosen not to do this leaves us asking questions why and grasping at other answers like they’re trying to artificially reduce the number of players on at reset. Which would just suck because it shows they have no answers for the issues like skill lag.
What was the exploit?
Go into WvW, whilse it has its problems it is dynamic content.
Right now it feels like the bosses were made with the trinity in mind then they added the dodge system and removed the trinity afterward without reworking the bosses.
Yeah I agree they removed the trinity but didn’t replace it with anything.
normally most bosses do have unique mechanics. I’ve seen so many zergs wipe in Arah, CoE and I’m pretty sure that they would even wipe in AC. They refuse to learn how bosses work, refuse to help the team and just continue to smack away. Most of them get carried trough high end dungeons.
Dungeons do encourage learning and different playstyles. It’s just that a lot of warriors like to play them all as if it was CoF.
I would argue unique mechanics isn’t enough, once you know the mechanic you end up with static encounters again. The encounter design needs to be more dynamic. Someone above mentioned having bosses with a few different abilities which don’t trigger in a pattern but have an identifiable power up, thats along the lines of where they need to go.
The problem is also exacerbated by anets insistence on nerfing abilities which provide support for other players, this leads to few builds being used. That recent Q&A referred to is extremely disappointing in respect of this thread.
What makes you think they’re not fixing it? I just think they’re not fixing it fast enough. It’s the whole patience thing. It takes time for MMOs to shake the kinks out. Time often measured in years, not months.
The days are gone when mmos can take that time.
You can transfer and immediately go into WvW for your new server.
All I have to say is thank you Devon Carver and the whoever else thought it would be a good idea to screw over the NA reset. Thank you so much for picking the middle of the day.
Not only screwing over the US this also screws over oceanic and if anything makes it worse for SEA. There is no way this can be spun as being a solution which finds any sort of balance. It only benefits EU, no-one else.
I mentioned it immediately after this latest reset when it seemed worse than it had ever been.
They have to address it.
Except it has changed this week.
What has?
JQ, or at least FOO, is focussing more on SOR this week.
You will always have 2v1:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/Prisoner-s-dilemma/first#post989558History between BG and SoR and Ex-SoS guilds transferring to BG who were strong rivals to JQ is why BG gets focused. BG did it to itself.
And don’t expect anything to change anytime soon. The community has shown that when things get hard, people use Gems to transfer.
Except it has changed this week.
Dramen Maidriam, which server are you from?
S/he said, read the post again.
Good idea, the sort of thing I’ve been advocating, but at a ridiculous price. Just as a comparison I could buy a DLC for another game for the same price as buying the pick.
While looking for a different quote from Mike Ferguson I came across an interview he did quite a while ago where he was asked why ANet chose to set up matches by server. He stated that the decision for that was made by other devs FOUR YEARS ago while he was still on the content team and that he really didn’t know for sure why it was done that way. Everyone (including Mike) assumes it was done to promote a sense of server community, but there isn’t much point in promoting community in an activity if it makes that activity so disappointing and frustrating in the first place.
There was no point to doing it when allowing free transfers for months. By that stage server community had gone out the window.
you think we havent tried? we got 30man zerg camping the gate, he still slips pass… he hits the gate and instantly restealth… you cant even see him, the npc guards dont even have time to react…
Sounds like either Revealed isn’t working properly or you guys have really slow reaction times.
Well taking the OP on face value if the thief immediately restealthed that means revealed isn’t working properly, and I’ve personally fought a thief recently that was able to restealth immediately after attacking me.
I don’t know if TESO will be a success. I’ve always felt that the Elder Scrolls had a system that would translate very well into a MMO setting, but at the same time… Most of the enjoyment I and my friends got from the ES games was from being able to fully immerse ourselves in a massive fantasy world. That sort of immersion just won’t be possible in an MMO; you’ll have players jumping around everywhere, having stupid names like “Capn Jack Sparrow” or “N00bSl@y3r69” or “Xx Legolass xX” (who yes, is also a female elf),
Those kind of names hinder immersion in any game IMHO.
Anet must nerf COF p1.
Agreed and I normally hate the way they nerf dungeon runs. This kind of thing is beyond a joke.
The trinity is not the issue. Encounter design is. There are some great encounters in this game but a lot of them not so much. I believe the developers are learning how to create good encounters that doesn’t involve trinity gameplay (at least I hope they are).
I dunno if they are, recent changes to dungeon boss encounters have basically just been to give them different mechanics nad more damage and hit points, not to make them tactically more interesting.
(edited by morrolan.9608)
The game doesn’t need a trinity of one-dimensional characters. But it does need depth, depth that is sorely lacking.
Spot on. To your post I’d add by getting rid of the trinity they needed to increase tactical depth in encounter design, something they haven’t done. Its still all about knowing what the specific mechanics are, its just we don’t need the trinity to overcome those mechanics.
I’d also add that by getting rid of the trinity they have reduced the scoring in the game to the one dimensional ‘kills’. This has led to a lot of problems for those more support oriented classes that simply can’t match classes like thief or warrior.
They don’t need [MAPS], they need a single, very large map. Take a look at the Elder Scrolls Online concept of PvP, and how everyone will be fighting on the same map.
that in the end will turn out even smaller than what we have here..
Based on what?
Food & Sharpening Stone boost attribute too high. It just makes WvWvW too hardcore and become only 80 level players battlefield.
For low level players, they are hard to survive. Anet should ban all buff from foods and sharpening stone in WvWvW and make the “Survival rate” of Level 80 and low level more balance.
Speak for yourself I manage to do perfectly fine levelling up characters mainly through WvW.
2. not possible without better server side hardware(doubt we are getting much higher than 100 per team per zone, they keep the map population cap secret)
And even then with max pops for all 3 sides on a map the performance is shockingly bad. Horrendous skill lag, crashes.
What has happened to the WvW performance on this reset? On my SOR team we had multiple crashes including myself as soon as we restarted, and with the queues we couldn’t get back in to any BLs. Then there was the lag, worst lag ever experienced. It was so bad players had lag at spawn. In a downed state I couldn’t heal myself it was so bad.
Nah they’re laughing at all the players who don’t recognise confusion and aren’t able to cleanse it.
I am curious if the JQ or SoR communities are considering pledging to Camelot Unchained’s Kickstarter? If so, we should all go separate realms on the same server! >:)
I’ve pledged $50.
