Yeah, if you didn’t beat it in 2012, you missed the achievement.
The clock tower counts as a Halloween daily this year.
Is it possible to resurrect players in Reaper Shroud?
If no, that’s a big problem.
I’m about 700 AP Away from my complete Exalted Achievement set and I just got my Pinnacle Greatsword.
I’ll Rock that for the shiny, even if it doesnt feel very Necromancer.
Reaper is worse than Necromancer in Pvp.
(EDIT: and Necromancer was considered bad, almost never considered meta)
You have near zero ranged pressure, so you are hard countered by everybody who can move.
The things that anet can do t fix this is fix Axe (and Scepter and focus) or increase Chill Durations, but they punted rather than fix axe and released insulting chill runes of the Reaper.
The Official word is they are scared of axe because it doesn’t have a visible projectile tell and just hits… So they are being conservative. (which means in real talk that axe will always suck because it’s skills were released broken).
The few High level Pvp Necromancers aren’t going Reaper because Reaper Sucks.
(edited by nekretaal.6485)
Well if the Dragon picture is indeed a clue… Has anybody tried Tequatl spoons or sunless runes? Or other Tequatl drops? Some new Drop? As a black dragon that’s got to be one of the most likely suspects
It’s bad because shouts are bad.
A full bar of shouts gives you only one stun break, and one condition transfer (if you don’t get the transfer, you don’t get the condition removed). There’s no blast finishers, no movement utility and no stability in the set. You need a whole lot of other missing utility before you need chil.
Its bad because chill is too short.
A 1.2 second chill is almost nothing. Plus chill only stacks three times. So having one of your three stacks as a lousy 1.2 second chill is bad.
A full bar of 5 shouts gets you like 10 seconds of chill per minute? Thats lousy uptime.
Its bad because the range of the runes is short.
Also what is the toughness doing there? Power/Toughness… Is this what anybody would have chosen? Necromancer does have a toughness nodifier in death magic, so it’s not totally random, but I would rather have had condition duration (longer chills) vitality (does double duty for Reapers), or Ferocity.
(edited by nekretaal.6485)
Axe 3 needs a buff. This community wants a blast finisher.
Right now, Spiteful Spirit is kind of a filler trait.
Bumping this to remind people that the Tattered Bat wings are a lvl 350 crafting item for scribing & that the missing mystic forge items are probably crafted with scribing.
Also where is it
The few traits and shouts that you can get for 214 Hero Points are pretty bad.
It’s hard to justify going full reaper when all I’ve gots is a few shouts and a shout trait.
EDIT: the new elite shout is all the way at the end of the 400 points. Blighter’s boon is third from the end. The hero points are gated behind masteries.
It’s bad folks.

A week from Tuesday. You got 11 days total.
TY anet!
I am soooooooo glad we not have achievements to do 80 games of lunatic inquisition this year.
Also lunatic inquisition last year had balance issues and hopefully when it ones bad, they will be fixed.
Runes of the Reaper Suck.
Guardians might get some use from them but reapers wolnt.
There is a crate on Kyhlo that OP is complaining about.
The crate disappears after enough damage is done, so this is not an exploit. Possibly more maps should have crates. (This crate on Far blocks Line of sight for approaching enemies, so killing it is a good gameplay move).
This is not a bug or exploit. This does not give the necromancer perma regen or anything like that.
If you want wings, then the gemstore black wings are a good choice. The new Bat wings are a good choice too (especially if you buy up the bat-greatsword Chirophobia).
I don’t like many of the wings because they can clip with hairstyles. Also I don’t like the butterfly wings and daydreamer wings. They are smaller ingame than they look in the preview.
The spinal blade backpacks are thematically fitting, especially the ones that glow green.
The Shadow of Grenth backpack had necromancer themes, but, for what it’s worth, the Lucky Ram backpack (rare version) might be even better. It has the Ram skull without the other distracting stuff (and it’s only a few gold instead of nearly 100 gold). The exotic Lucky Ram backpack has all sorts of clutter.
Don’t Overlook the Toxic Spore Skin for your toxic/diseased reapers or sylvari reapers. The Fervid Censor, available for purchase at the laurel vendor, is the pretty variant of the same thing.
The Baalthazar backpiece is pretty for those of you who want to go with the fire theme and don’t have the 2012 Mad Memories (a flaming demon book).
(edited by nekretaal.6485)
Halloween for me.
But if the mad king fight is once per account per day for the chest & If there’s no lunatic Inquisition to bring this year (please!) then there’s plenty of time to do both.
After all, I would really love to take my Reaper into halloween content, instead of just necromancer.
I’m more hyped to take the Reaper into the Halloween Labyrinth than to do any of the main HoT content.
I have the 214 hero points, and if that can buy me
The Greatsword
the minor traits
One minor, one major, and one grandmaster trait (I don’t care which ones)
Then I’ll be playing the Reaper day one.
And I think this is probably going to happen too.
I didn’t think that there ever was a trader. The shards were for the Spinal Back.
There was no trader when blade shards dropped en mass.
So I checked, and I was wrong!
The temporary festival of 4 winds trader traded for them long after the Aetherblades & Scarlet events were over. Unfortunately this trader is probably dead, his ship blown up and crashed over Dry Top.
Delete your Blade shards. 100 Blade shards for a green weapon is not worth the inventory spot that it will take to keep them.
We’ll see how it’s implemented. But the Hero point reward track system has promise.
Hopefully the new traits are at the start of the system, and stuff like the stylish new weapon are in the back. This way we can play our new class right away (maybe not with the perfect load out, but with traits and skills).
Hopefully there are enough (conveint and easy) new Magumma hero points that a quick run and some WvW potions gained over time will be enough for a Tome’d lvl 80 alt to play the new class (again, no fancy cosmetics gained but a minimum set of traits and skills is unlocked).
But the base system:“Doing hero points kits out your class and gives you fancy gear,” is good
Condition to boon conversion means that every time you face an enemy reaper, you’ll get Resistence, and tons of it.
Anet’s preview of the condition changes had bleeding, poison, and torment 20% stronger, and burning 20% weaker.
Thats what needs to be done with conditions.
As for OP, change your build. Condition damage exists and you need to prepare for it and stop asking for everything to get nerfed.
The booster gives you 400 Wxp when you take a keep. 400 is more than 250. It’s a no brainer to keep the boosters over the Drops of WxP.
You might want to use your thimbles of WxP and over. There’s a lot of wasted time in WvW, and who knows if you’ll get 2500 bonus WxP, especially if they only give you an hour (or a half hour).

I have (I think) about 215 hero points. I was hoping to play my Reaper in the Halloween Labyrinth this year.
Unfortunately, that leaves me with limited points to spend after unlocking Reaper (and exp in the labyrinth itself will not help me).
I don’t care about skills, but hopefully, my 215 points can unlock reaper and get me three traits to use (I don’t really care which three at the start, but I’ll need a minor, major, and grandmaster).
I suspect the unique Reaper gear (weapon and armor shroud item) will be expensive and at the end of the track, so maybe I can get started right away. Here’s hoping.
(edited by nekretaal.6485)
I’m begging for this now!
#Pleasefixaxe
Reaper has close to zero ranged pressure, and its best three weapons, Reaper shroud, greatsword, and dagger all do functionally the same thing.
Without Death Shroud 1, the spec is a sitting duck against kiters, melee CC, and range. Axe (and focus) need to be upgraded to “not pathetic,” or the spec is DoA in pvp.
(and while we’re at it scepter needs conditions to be changed to their previewed state (20% more scaling on bleed, poison and torment, 20% less on burning. Either that or scepter needs a big buff too).
It would be pretty nice if we could purchase the temporary guild magic find buffs (similar to the once bought with influence now) with essences of luck,
I’ve got a sylvari that I’ve tried to make look like a rotting plant.
There are plenty of gnarled wood staffs to work with if you go that route.
Marjory’s Dagger is a moving green worm, her axe glows green too. But your guy could almost go with black weapons like the still relatively cheap shadow weapon set.
The spec isn’t strong.
PvE has ok damage, but it’s all glass cannon melee with no team support (and isn’t top tier). Pvp has zero ranged pressure (until axe gets fixed #pleasefixaxe) and is a sitting duck against anybody who can kite (or CC, or range)
We’ll be out of PvE and Pvp metas a few weeks after the awesomeness of farming labyrinth mobs and jungle raptors fades.
The only thing that should really worry you is the bug about Pvp map spots that can be cleaved for life force gain. If anet fixes them by nerfing reaper, it will hurt. If anet fixes the maps, well that will fix a longstanding problem with the class (being stuck in combat longer than is necessary).
Hopefully the loot table got big updates.
2 copper foods, 2 copper tonics, Magic find tonics, nougats, fangs, skulls, and maize balm have to go and/or need new sinks. There are TP crafting recipes to use or make all of them, and, if they don’t drop, that will help fix the excess candy corn too.
Hopefully they are replaced with new stuff. Or even old stuff. The economy needs an injection of materials like quartz or zhaitaffy or the new salvaging dyes crafting material.
Yeah, the nerfs matters are to offhand dagger. Think stuff like ride the lightning.
The lucky ram backpack mystic forge recipe requires luck essences.
500 stacks? That’s dedication.
The greatsword is a total glass cannon.
You move slow and you have no condition defense and your non pure damage utility skills are a short blind field and a pull (neither of which amount to much).
Also your life force generation is poor (you don’t get much sustain from lifesteal, even Traited, either).
Dagger DPS which also is great for life force and life steal is also the best DPS over 50%. The greatsword is a nonstarter in Pvp and maybe PvE too if PvE is difficult.
The real problem, however, is that the choice here is a false choice. Dagger, Greatsword, nd Reaper shroud are all functionally the same thing and that everything else stinks.
#pleaseFixAxeFocusScepter
Everybody should get access to these ports or they shouldn’t exist.
Also the truly abusive ports, like porting to the ledge above midpoint on Nifhel where somebody without ports can never get to you without running all the way o the beast and back, should be removed.
So does this mean Flesh Golem now goes on everybody PvE bar?
Hopefully anet looks at the Halloween loot tables.
The maize balms and 2 copper foods and tonics need to not drop again this year. The recipes are fine, but the items themselves need to stop.
Hopefully we get new stuff instead, or they at least dump some quartz or zhaitaffy back into the market.
Who else bets that the high level fractal bosses start getting break bars and skills like this become useless
Reaper doesn’t need to be nerfed, it needs to be buffed.
The damage plus support is too low for PvE and there is no ranged pressure in Pvp, making it a sitting duck.
my only prob is that the LS is full of lesbian story
can the devs finaly stop showing them down in our throat ???
i did not had an issue with it 1st with majorly and kasmeer good for people that like it and why not im not againts it.
but il hope we won’t see new lesbians in every single LS they release lol.
More Rytlok and Gnashblade pls.
We’ve had enough lesbians. Any more is overkill.
Your job is to decap and +1 fights. You only 1v1 other thieves.
If other team leaves a point open, your job is to take that point. If other team has somebody sitting alone on a point, then you +1 a fight.
Tl;dr. Don’t fight. every other class can beat you.
It’s too bad plague isn’t a well.
A Well that traveled with you like the EoTM altar buff does would be really sweet.

you’ll have to get xp the old fashioned way. So stock up on cheap 15% XP Halloween food
Will PvP reward pots work once HoT launches
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: nekretaal.6485
I doubt they change.
Use them to level up halloween’s reward track (if its better than last years track), or save then for a community event (15% bonus) and level up the HoT tracks.
As mentioned on today’s GuildChat, we will indeed be adding a slew of new stat combos, runes, and sigils to sPvP with the launch of Heart of Thorns. A small example of what we’ll be adding are trapper runes and sinister stats, but there’s plenty more for you to discover on October 23.
As a note (and to address concerns), we won’t be adding dire stats or perplexity runes to sPvP. We’re vetting and discussing each and every rune/sigil/stat combo as a group before adding them in, with the main goal being improving build diversity.
I’ll also mention that we’re going to be changing the 6/6 bonus on Vampirism. After HoT launch it will no longer proc Mist Form at 25% hp, but will instead cast an AoE lifesteal to up to 5 nearby targets. This will reduce the binary defensive nature of the rune and bring it more inline with similar sets.
There’s going to be a lot of change with the launch next week, and we’re going to be watching balance very closely in all game modes. We will be working to address any emergent gameplay we’re not comfortable with as quickly as possible.
-Grouch
Is there any way to just add the amulets and then ban them from tournaments if they tun out too OP?
If a build is OP with dire, it is OP. If perplexity OP in pvp, its just OP period.
They should scrap current lingering curses entirely.
The bonus condition damage doesn’t scale with bleeds & the condition duration, as OP states, is barely adept worthy. The best thing about the pre rebalance trait is that you would have these long durations that kept foes in combat forever. Thats not true anymore.
Some of the extra duration should be added to the base weapon and it should go back to the drawing board.
My suggestion

Guardian player on these forums are highlarious.
OP is dead wrong about the Dragonhunter, it’s really strong.
Dragonhunter has a silly name and is very slightly worse in a 1v1 than a guardian, but the bow is nearly OP and players will get used to the cast time virtues. The other traits are really strong and you’ll want Dragonhunter for max DPS. The traps won’t be widely used, but they will be very strong when they are used.
The tempest will be used once offhand dagger gets its overdue nerfing.
The daredevil doesnt play completely like a thief. That’s good. On demand stealth for p/p Theif? That’s pretty sweet. Jury’s still out on them.
Here’s items I would include if you decide to set up an index for WvW consumables. WvW sinks are one of the main non precursor gold sinks in the game and ought to be looked independently of the main gear-up-look good markets.
Plus, main of these items have cheaper substitute goods. So if you want to weight the index to account for velocity, you can include the cheaper substitute good in the index (example: Rams have a higher velocity than Golems, so include both superior and regular rams in the index but exclude both golems)
Items I would include in a WvW index:
Superior Ram, Ram, Superior Arrow cart, arrow cart, Guild Catapult, Superior catapult, Superior Golem, Omnomberry Compote, Bowl of Roated Lotus Root, Bowl of Sweet and Spicy Butternut Squash Soup, Plate of Truufle Steak, Bowl of Curry Butternut Squash Soup, Bowl of Seaweed Salad, Toxic Focusing Crystal, Rare Veggie Pizza, Superior Sharpening Stone.
If there’s a way to track high velocity consumables, I may have missed some. Again, you weigh the index by including the substitute goods of the highest velocity consumables in the index.
They said there would be living story content.
So you’ll get new WvW stuff, new PvP mode, access to new gear stuff (through the TP), plenty of new guild content (just be in a guild with somebody who has HoT), and new festival content.
Plus they said they were tweaking the maps (and jumping puzzles?).
I think you’re getting a lot.
Focus #4 also instantly gives you 10 stacks of Corrupter’s Fervor if the hits land, giving you 300 toughness and reducing condition damage taken by 20%. If you go into Shroud immediately after casting with Death Perception, it also gains a 50% chance to crit every time it hits.
If you’re going to compare to Guardian’s focus for some reason, and you bring in Guardian traits, at least speak to the traits that Focus #4 interacts with as well.
Ok
Necromancer Focus has traits that give out a cooldown reduction and a damage increase against foes with no boons.
The damage increase is worthless because everybody craps out boons and focus 5 isn’t a working boon control tool. You have to build your whole build around boon removal, and forego better damage increase traits.
Vulnerability also works with decimate defenses for increased critical chance, but focus vulnerability is really short duration, you have about 3.5 seconds to hit the enemy after aftercast. I hope you are in range for a follow up attack.
imo mirror blade also needs an extra bounce while were at buffing bouncing skills.
They gave mirror blade that bounce it was the most broken thing ever.
Mesmers were doing stealth → mirror blade → stun (while mirror blade projectile still in the air → 4 → 3 → F1. And that combo was killing players from full health with very little time to react against.
