1. Newer players come to the roaming scene having watched youtube vids of experience roamers wrecking 2+ other players and have a weird idea of what it means to be a roamer. As a result everyone just picks the hottest builds and protects guard/sigil stacks at all costs.
2. Playerbase is declining.
3. Roamers possibly aren’t organizing themselves that well anymore.

I didn’t get my chest. My achievement for 2nd place is correct, 10/10 meta done a long time ago. I only skipped out on the jumping puzzle ones. Not sure what other info I can give that will help.

Leave SOR and find a server that can make the map completion happen. Your loyalty to a ghost ship is tied only to the WvW aspect. If you choose not to move on then work to become involved with the remnent of your wvw population. When we have community members come on looking for map completion it becomes a priority so that we can show solidarity and help them make it past a unfamiliar challenge.
Doesn’t it cost gems to transfer? that can be another hurdle
Fort Aspenwood
Even if you had an epic cutscene, the Minstrel doesn’t make you feel at all legendary compared to pretty much any other one.
Fort Aspenwood
Yeah it’s lame. It should just be one BL (not three identical ones) and maybe something like SMC. So you have to explore and participate a little bit (maybe). Or all the locations should be unlockable if you get right up to the door, so you have some risk but you’ll explore the entire map and be rewarded for it.
Fort Aspenwood
you see, while the NA playerbase may or may not recognize the concept of “timezones”, us EU players do. Therefore we recognize when the season is over, which was about 54 minutes ago.
hmm
Fort Aspenwood
as long as people are able to transfer servers no amount of tweaking is going to fix it.
I’d say they should have a couple of weeks of things shaking out after transfers before setting up leagues. And if we can all play other servers outside of our leagues, then we can have leagues that aren’t confined to multiples of three.
I’d also have a one week “playoff” among the top 3 servers in each league with bonus rewards for winning and nothing for second place.
Fort Aspenwood
They care about defending tier three keeps. Sure, those happened to be your keeps…
Fort Aspenwood
Watching a server build omegas for a day or two on a map then rush dozens of them when the enemy population is low is a great strategy but a poor mechanic.
I agree but don’t think they should nerf golems. For some servers, it’s the counter to population/coverage issues.

I was one of the people on The Hunter over the weekend, I didn’t make a ton of gold on it but I did make a little bit. I think the best bet you have is trying to manipulate people that are trying to manipulate the market. The question of “why” is because people are willing to buy them for high prices, even if it’s because of speculation. A simple answer, but, that’s all there is to it. I think it was possible to manipulate The Hunter as long as you had a few buy orders filled around 600, but, who knows.

There is more of this it is called a guild rush.
Was about to say that myself, cuz I do like being a kitten every now and then. :P
But I wouldn’t mind more of these kinds of things outside guild missions, since they tend to hold special mechanics (looking at you, trek and challenge).
I even edited my post man
Fort Aspenwood
I belong to the 75% of the world’s population (backed by scientific research) that does not care about “prestige”
I guess I’m curious then, why you list all your level 80s and alts and “BG since headstart” in your sig?
Fort Aspenwood
I think it has to do with Lion’s Arch rebuilding
Fort Aspenwood
They should add a few of these races into the major cities. It reminds me of the beacon run in DR during that one update with the torches. Make cool content like that.
Yeah, that one was cool too. I never spent much time in DR until then so it was a pretty cool way for me to see how well done the area was.
Fort Aspenwood
An alert like flashing in the screen “A WILD TURRET APPEARS!!! DESTROY IT!!” maybe could help.
Yeah, sound kinda stupid… but stupid problems requires stupid solutions!!By the way, the one boss that I hate is Pyroxis. It’s a mess. Half of the times I can’t see what’s happening or what’s killing me. And those flame thingies are a pain to evade.
I have the same issue so I just run in, take a few hacks, and roll out. I was in a decent smaller group that would keep water fields going so I could just blast those and run right back in.
Fort Aspenwood
There is more of this it is called a guild rush.
And no you can only run it once during that instance of the rush. You can however run it once every time the event is up.
whoops I called it “guild mission”. sorry to have confused you! will edit

I’ve always liked the temporary items as being indicators that you were around at that time. It’s not really a prestige thing, just a memento of sorts. I kept the molten gloves on my engi for a long time because they reminded me of a fun time I had playing with buddies.
Fort Aspenwood
The Yak race is fun, it’s like an easy-mode guild rush. People give help and wait at the finish line and /cheer and dance and have a good time. It’s one of the more positive experiences I’ve experience in GW2, even though we usually end up with silver. I’d love to see more of these, as I don’t have the availability to do guild rushes and this seems to generate more positive vibes among strangers than Lion’s Arch/Pavilion does.
I’d also tweak the # of completions down to 50, which we don’t always get but could be pushed for. Right now people are dumping back to character select to finish it, which starts to change the mood of the chat.

The problems are not with the design. If you’re zerging these bosses, you’re doing it wrong – you can kill them with a half-dozen people. That’s causing Baines to scale up way too high. And if people are ignoring the turret…well, there’s not much you can do but point it out in chat every time it pops or go kill it yourself.
The boss mechanics are fine. People just aren’t playing smart.
I think most of us here know that. Anyone with a little L2P under their belt knows this, but if you’re stuck in a Pavilion where people don’t get it, there aren’t a lot of options for you. Sometimes I can get a dozen people to go follow me to another boss, sometimes I can’t. So I think I agree, the design isn’t broken for the encounters, but it’s broken in terms of having nowhere to go if the champ train zerg won’t listen.
Fort Aspenwood
what’s up my friends I hope you are enjoying silver league
Fort Aspenwood
Make it so you can’t throw down siege and that sounds fun
Fort Aspenwood
Nope, the Pavilion bosses. Of course those achievements can be fairly frustrating because PvE players don’t know how to PvE.
Fort Aspenwood
I just notice that you need lot’s of festival tokens too if you wanna buy something. Token drop rate seems kind of low in www because i have only got 26 of those.
You can kill 6 bosses and farm 50 of each mob for 12 achievements, then watch the LS scene and open some crates. 14 achievements, 1600 tokens + that other ticket thing
Fort Aspenwood
As an Australian I laugh at your latency complaints. Princesses.

Crates and Lion’s Arch scene are about as easy as it gets.
Fort Aspenwood
It’s not hundreds, it’s closer to 60-70. And it’s not hard. It actually requires a very basic level of communication. No specialized builds needed (though having a couple people who know how to use reflect helps a lot).
The problem is that people would rather complain on forums about how their loot was nerfed than cooperating with the people around them to claim their EASY 8 champ bags every 15-20 minutes or so.
You need to have people motivated to farm those rewards and usually people just grab some achievements and leave. Or they bring their uplevels and don’t spawn back at WP even if you tell them. Having a tag only means you spent 100g and most would rather just show how cool it is to have a bunch of tags at the same place. I’ve been able to grab a dozen people from the zerg and burn down a couple bosses. I’ve also lured people that just farm the mobs. You can be a zergling and farm mobs and in like an hour have 12 achievements when 14 gets you the meta reward.
Sure conceptually this is good stuff, you need to learn the bosses, learn your class, and everyone gets good rewards. But the achievements and previous content push players into some wicked bad habits and this isn’t really breaking them of it. I’ve guested on some other servers in hopes of getting some PVE commanders that are good (who knows what this does for megaservers, I do get into different Pavillions though) and no luck. The best I can do personally (no tag) is get people to split up into two groups but this is more a matter of “huh this is taken forever and we landed on bronze a long time ago” and not “oh really? split up and we get good loot?”
So there are a few pavillions that get it and it’s awesome, but most of them are doo doo and without an easy train it seems like people just got their cheevos and split.
So I sort of agree with you but there is a problem here

This has been going for… 4 months now, if I am not mistaken. Where is lordkrall, the white knight of Anet, to explain to us why are they not taking any action, besides closing threads about the hackers?

Back in the day, when everyone was out in the world and fighting monsters and doing heart quests, they needed armor every few levels. Other players found that armor and put it on the TP. Your job was to find nice gaps in buy/sell orders, and they were on pretty much every green. It’s possible that this flipping still exists, I don’t know.
Think about how people play the game, and then make money off of it. The nature of the TP makes it a money dispenser for anyone who thinks this way, and that’s without any real research.
Fort Aspenwood
I suppose its a penalty for not playing the living story when it was around, however looking through the wiki I am sad to see all the weapon skins I will never be able to get. All of them require black lion claim tickets which drop so rarely in lion chests it would cost a considerable amount of money to be able to unlock even one ticket.
I recently opened 25 lion chests and only received 4 ticket scraps, not a great return rate. I totally understand that it was my choice to miss out on the content but man did I miss a lot, would be nice if there was still a more reasonable way of obtaining these items.
Perhaps introduce the ticket scraps as drops to all mobs with a very low drop rate? Would take a very very long time to unlock them all trying to collect enough scraps to create tickets. Just disappoints me seeing a really cool skin that I likely wont be able to get any time soon.
With the festival coming (since I missed it last time) do any of the mobs drop the ticket scraps, or just specific drops to the items available for that content?
You can get them, on the TP. I wouldn’t hold up hope that ticket scraps will be moved to mob loot tables, those are intended to drive gem shop sales.
Fort Aspenwood
It’d be nice if you could find a way to debuff someone so they can’t contest for a while. I’ve helped sniff out a thief at garri only for them to just find a different door. If a dude shoots a door once, can you put supply into it?
Fort Aspenwood
Now imagine if they put bobsledding on the WvW maps
Fort Aspenwood
The old maps seriously lack variety and their age can be seen. The Borderland maps are a wasteland. The few people playing it now for PPT will soon be burned out and there will be nobody left to play there.
Eternal battleground can be improved and saved. EOTM the same, but the old borderland maps have to be completely redone or replaced.
I think the maps we have are great but they have definitely become a little bit stale. I’d love to see another EB style map, and maybe the lesser populated tiers can shift to having two EBs instead of 3 BL and 1 EB.
Fort Aspenwood
There’s been a lot of “props to these guys for putting up a good fight” sentiments in teamspeak this week. Or at least it seems like that. Maybe they were complimenting me!!!! woot.

Maybe take a walk and get some fresh air or something, I’m just trying to help you, OK
Fort Aspenwood
I’m thinking they should offer weekly meta achievements, and give rewards for those. Then they can hand out finishers based on server placement. After the season ends, free transfer period to any server. Then a few weeks of off-season to help shake out where the servers actually stand. Then a short transfer period aimed at evening out the tiers/leagues. Then add in gem store stuff like completing Ogres gives them chainsaws and bazookas instead of clubs and bows. Also add fishing to the game and bobsledding.
Fort Aspenwood
Population gives coverage. 10 warm bodies are worth 1 skillful player.
10 warm bodies bring 100 supply.
Fort Aspenwood
1) co-ordinated 2v1
2) co-ordinated blackouts
3) co-ordinated guild purchases
4) co-ordinated server stacking‘The server that shall not be named’ has a problem with only 1 of these 4.
Can anyone guess which? Also… “co-ordinated 2-1 is bad! organic 2v1 is ok because we have the population and coverage to always come out on top”
hashtag BGT
edit: game clearly broken if “server that shall not be named” does not win.
Why do these things keep coming up when the other two servers involved do them as well? I love the drama but most #BGTEARS posts seem to be bigger QQ than the BG posts. step up the pvf.

They should buff dynamic event rewards in the least populated zones so that people leveling alts will be encouraged to play in them, and maybe existing players to play with new ones. I think the dynamic event system is a major bonus for this game, but if 99% of the open world PVE community is fighting champs/world boss or sitting in Vigil Keep, then a lot of those cool ad hoc groups from the early days probably aren’t happening.
Fort Aspenwood
If you want to recognize roamer guilds go ahead and do so!
Fort Aspenwood
This train only needs to be moved to another map, being in the starting zone of the most played race will only serve to make new players into brainless zergs (zergs have brain to begin with?).
Well “the whole game is endgame” so why keep new players from zerging?

Last year I was sick, I had a tumor in my neck that was killing me, doctors couldn’t figure out the problem, I spent every day suffering and miserable, and I picked up GW2 as a way to pass the time until my family could claim my life insurance. I missed most of the year at work, and so I would play on my server during non-peak hours, often matched up against servers with much better coverage during these times.
I played a lot with [DPS]. The channel was upbeat, the commanders were smart and fun and would explain what was going on. They worked hard, did what they could, and kept things fun whether we were being doubled teamed at our Garri and holding nothing else, or we were on the other end of a mismatch.
I finally found a doctor that figured things out, had surgery, back from the edge, I don’t really get to play the game during the days anymore. But for my time playing day times last year, I got to see a side of WvW that I think most people don’t get to. I’ve been a filthy casual joining alongside a few guilds I think are pretty good, but DPS definitely deserves some props. <3
