I added a note to that section for those people up in arms for a little humour…. As for people yelling to not repair when those two scenarios are not happening (being trebbed or active fight), It is not your prerogative no matter how many yaks you escort, the supply isn’t yours.

Furthermore keeping walls open for the farm is great for us after bags, but it really isn’t our right to demand they obey us because that’s how we want it, just as its not their right to yell at us to leave the supply for their siege, or for their PPT offensive. The supply is there for anyone to use as they wish, especially since you dont need the supply for upgrades anymore.

Also a note, you can do much of these things while you follow a ktrain zerg, it isn’t a roaming guide, its just some key points to remember when you play so you get more rewards for doing virtually the same thing

While many took advantage of the increased rewards of the old Edge of the Mist System to jump ahead in rank (often going for ultimate dominator), many of us stood back and refused to play in it because we weren’t a fan of k-trains and higher ranks get focused more in engagements. However now it matters, so here are some tips on how to Level up quickly to get those extra Pips.

1) Boosters are your friends. You have the guild hall booster (WXP), Celebration/birthday boosters, and XP boosters.

2) Kill Guards EVERYWHERE. Towers and keeps have tons of guards patrolling or at the gates, quickly kill them as you pass even if the objective means nothing to you, its quick to do and its free wxp. If you have ranged, aoe the guards on the walls if you arent a wet noodle spec.

3) Cap Shrines and Sentries. If you are on Red BL, the shrines also can drop lode stones and capping them (or clicking the alter when you own them) gives you an awesome speed buff.

4) Repair objectives that are contested even if you are just passing through, supply spent will give you credit for the defense of the objective, and it will also give you wxp for the repair itself. You dont need to stand there fixing the wall completely, spend your supply and move on. Of course if you want, repair it completely, even if people are yelling at you to not waste supply, since its WXP you are after, not their approval.
****Note: If its being trebbed, use supply from somewhere else to get credit, and don’t cut off a forces path of retreat if they are fighting near an open wall

5) Use Food and Utility Consumables. There are a ton of cheap food and utilities, the extra stats will help you kill guards faster, and if you dont need help with that, magic find always is a nice plus.

6) Kill people. People who arent being killed over and over again by yourself (or your group) will grant a lot of wxp, this is one of the primary reasons why playing in smaller groups and having a more well rounded wvw experience grants you more rank up chests then zergs clashing into eachother over and over again. if you are not comfortable in wvw on your own, tag along with other people, but do them a favour and at least run a build more suited for wvw. http://metabattle.com/wiki/MetaBattle_Wiki has a bunch of builds for each class. Some people may say the builds are outdated, but the builds are a lot better than many of the PvE builds for this game mode. Most guilds who go for Kills generally stick with variants of the Meta builds, but you will find much of those listed as Great on the site work fine for what you want to achieve.

Condition cleanse, Stun-breaks, Resistance and stability will go a long way in helping you stay alive, so all DPS utilities may not be in your best interest ;)

Using server comms like TS/Discord/Mumble/Ventrillo/etc will help you stay alive, most don’t need you to talk, just listen. There are rude people everywhere and just like in game, you can mute/block/ignore people who you cant stand.

Keeping these points in mind, whether your in a zerg, roaming or in a small havoc group, you will help maximise your wxp gain. Even if.you are a high rank you still get decent drops in the rank up chests. This week alone I’m at 3 ascended rings and 3 weapons chests, majority of them from rank ups.

to be fair i know many platinum wvwers who only used eotm to level their alts and their rank is high due to that reason, how to you think they will figure out where the line will be drawn? quit being childish and put on your wxp boosters (xp boost + banner + celebration + guild hall) and you’ll fly through the ranks.

also keep in mind that the majority of my ascended weapon/armour chests ive had dropped were in the rank up chests.

Move PIP System to EOTM

EOTM already has something, it doesn’t need the wvw pip system to be played. Its an overflow for people on over stacked time zone that has destroyed proper wvws casual player base since its launch due to it having imbalanced rewards and having people abuse map politics to get increased rewards.

You can still get basic reward track progress, and you can still cap objectives for wxp + champ bags. Beyond that, you should find yourself a proper wvw guild and play in the real maps if you want the pips. if you are queued, you can wait out the novelty of this patch, or you can xfer off.

Its been acknowledged by arenanet already and they do not agree with you, accept it and move on. Whining about it more just makes you look pitiful, instead go find a some zerg stragglers and enjoy your ‘skilled’ fights without gettin an extra commander pip (or enjoy your extra pugs). As much as i would love the private squads, i see arenanet’s point in not wanting them.

I disagree with this, way too easy to exploit. At the most say 3 players killed in the 5 minute time frame can equal 1 pip. As it is, loot dropped plus wxp from bag farming is already out of balance and promotes people running in massive blobs. Throwing free pips for farming people will just give them even more loot for mindless game play.

Allowing for 3 people let’s roamers have a chance for it and also means people.in massive blobs running down roamers won’t get all get rewarded.

So how many hours is 175 weekly?

All i am hearing is my problems are worse than yours because i have to deal with them. Every server who has all maps queued are going to have issues getting guild groups in. The era in which maguuma pugs left WvW to get a skill group in are long gone (2+ years gone). If a group wants to run on EBG, their guildmates better have been playing on the map prior to raid or they will be stuck with everyone else in a 100 man primetime queue. A guild group who doesn’t do EBG tends to pick the map when raid starts, but they still will need to wait in line with everyone else. Switching maps in the middle of a guild raid in this scenerio often causes a good handful of people to leave because they dont want to wait 20-40 minutes in another BL queue.

just from the mats i recieved alone (and not all of them) i have gone up 70 gold since patch hit, in roughly 20 hours of gameplay. On top of that i have materials i will be using to craft items. All while playing the game mode i like, meaning i dont need to leave to farm items. My wife had better luck in her rewards and is sitting at around 110 gold in 15 hours of wvw. This system is rewarding regardless of whatever amount of skins we will be working towards. Keep in mind we have not sold our memories of battle, so the possible gold intake is even higher for those who have zero interest in the long term rewards.

I see it as two birds with one stone. Annoying people promoting keeping a map empty, and annoying people hopping for the buff with no intention of playing. If its timed well, the BL they leave wont go outnumbered before the tick hits.

every time i see someone complaining about losing their outnumber buff, i call out in team chat that the BL is outnumbered to ensure the buff stays off. The mechanic is not meant for abuse, nor should it be the sole reason to play on the map.w

Mag isnt always queued due to buying servers, its always queued for being the premier unemployed server of gw2. Any guild that was bought long ago i think xfered off long ago as their time zones had no competition at the time due to other servers fairweathering to eotm

like you i suffer from being a resident of a server that was bandwagoned (not sure if you are a native or not to it), but unlike you, queues are the drawback and i would rather stay on my home server and face queues than xfer off. This is a choice i made, i dont believe i should be forced to xfer off due to people wanting easy wins.

Sure it sucks, but there is still always the option for me to transfer, or there is an option to buy HoT at a discount and put the toon on another server (which i have done). If you really cant stand the queues, then perhaps these are the two options you should explore vs ruining wvw for many more people by pushing for EoTM to once again be made more important than real wvw.

Wow, really assuming much there buddy. I dont like eotm, and i hate blobbing. Unfortunately today was pretty much blobs on every map since every server had all maps queued. I do find it funny you are whining about bandwagons when today experienced every map queued on almost every server in this game from late SEA to late NA. The playing field was even. Every side had their rally bait, and for the most part, mags bandwagonners were all together on one map like they always were, unable to map hop. anyways off tangeant, lets do a bit of math here for you.

first vs third is a +2 difference, Gold rank is only +3. my average tick was 5-6 pips. That is hardly cranking out pips compared to other people. a third place eotm hero will get more than i average a tick.

Think a bit harder (might be difficult) but an outmatched server who fair weathers will allow their more dedicated wvwers to crank out pips at a much greater rate than the bandwagoner server.

I have ran through the pip ranks completely and can confirm diamond chests do repeat, but they only let you get the tickets for them after the initial 6 diamond chests.

However, you do get increased rewards at the diamond level compared to the lower ones, so i dont see the real problem with the lack of claim tickets. Putting this much time in wvw in a single day is absurd, normally this amount would be 3-4 days (normally 5-6 days a week of wvw for me)

as a mainly support ele im sayin you are playing wrong, or either trolling.
as a non blob player, i sit at over rank 2k w/ being employed and hating EOTM.
An ele who stays in water is a useless ele, even if you are full Healing power specced. How do you aura share? How do you properly CC foes or protect your backline if you just hug water skills? Sure we don’t get as many bags as some other classes, but who cares, you play ele support because you are already used to being the type of player who would rather benefit the group vs have increased rewards. As for the pips, ive been playin since patch hit today since i was off work, and guess what, with the exception of really high rank people, im at the same tier rewards as others who have.

Put the same effort into actively playing wvw and those ranks will fly by, if you don’t like the game mode, then accept you missed out on a few skins and move on. If you cant accept it, then grit your teeth and play rather than whine about Anet not making it personally easier for you to deal with your skin compulsion.

how is 5 people “roaming” having their game play ruined by not getting the commanders bonus? In the end, those 5 roamers tend to be a gank squad attributing to very little matchup wise except for killing stragglers and chest thumping. Their game play will remain just the same anyways, except now they may have more than solo and duo roamers trying to get their camp/sentry daily done to kill.

Will map sizes be increased for the upcoming population increases to WvW?

How will everyone be able to experience the new content?

I’m expecting to see 50+ queues across all 4 maps.

they better not increase pop caps, i hope BG and mag get 4 maps each queued with a 40 man wait on the BLs(and naturally a 150 ebg queue). People need to learn the drawback of over stacking servers for brain dead farming vs engaging gameplay.

Given that there is a squad commander bonus, what if people want to run tagless, how to take advantage of this bonus then?

why would you expect a bonus? If you want to be exclusive and not show the map where your group is running, then you do not deserve the bonus. Generally if you want to run closed with a tag, most people respect that, and if they dont, learn to shake pugs and they’ll leave you alone.

there was a reddit post by a dev saying they are moving to one up one down after they launched the rewards update, which could lead to month pairings vs two month as they said the glicko was the reason they went 2 months vs 1.

I disagree with your suggestion about removing the items you personally don’t like.

I think that tying in more rewards for commanders and promoting smaller groups is essential to the health of wvw. If you don’t like seeing tag clutter use the UI option to hide other tags. If you don’t like losing a half dozen die on Inc fodder players to the random tags then get better at positioning your group.

The lfg being stream lined Into the squad UI area won’t clutter your screen so stop being so dramatic over it. There are still quite a few people new to the game mode who have no one to play with and map team chat don’t foster a welcoming environment. The old lfg too was horrible for wvw, maybe it will be useful now. Coming from an active guild it’s pretty easy to turn your nose at features put in place that won’t personally help you but other areas of the game use lfg extensively and wvw does need some love for new players (and pvx players too)

Hello! while im sure this has been said before, there needs to be a Gold-Fed Salvage-o-matic. I would go further though and say that the higher end salvage kits need a revamp.

Copper-Fed – 10% rarer materials, 20% upgrades recovery (unchanged) – 3 copper per use
Silver-Fed – 25% rare materials, 75% upgrades recovery (nerfed slightly) – 60 copper per use
Gold-Fed – 30% rare materials, 100% upgrades recovery – 1 silver per use
Black Lion – 50% rare Materials, 100% ugrades AND infusions

If you mystic Forge all 4 of these kits, you get a…

Platinum-Fed – It scales with item rarity.

Right click options:
-Salvage all Fine or lower, Crude kit quality – 3c per item
-Salvage all Master or Lower, Crude kit quality – 3c per item ***this helps inventory space from getting clogged.
-Salvage all Master or Lower, Basic kit quality – 3c per item
-Salvage all Rares – master kit quality – 60c per item

Doube Click scaling:
-basic/fine, Crude kit quality – 3c per item
-master, Basic kit quality – 3c per item
-Rare, master kit quality – 60c per item
-Exotic, Gold-fed quality – 1s per item

Overall i think it will be helpful, for many items i still would rather use the black lion kit due to getting inscriptions more often, which is the reason i didn’t make the gold fed equivalent to the black lion, i think it should still should have its place as a premium product, and adding in a built in infusion extractor will help it be much more valuable for convenience sake.

Enable gliding in Desert BL

learn to use the haypiles if you wish to cliff jump without the happy feet air buff. I could only imagine the complaints we’d hear if gliding was enabled. Classes that can already disengage too easily will now be able to escape even easier where terrain would have previously limited them. The map is fine to traverse as it is and the perk to the map is you dont need to spec into more movement speed as long as you visit a shrine every now and then. Get familiar with the terrain and maybe you wouldn’t need such a crutch.

What i have seen is these smaller guilds fixating on the win and refusing to build up their own communities. Instead they have a limited pool of already competent players that they only want to recruit. As a result, some of the newcomer friendly guilds have been getting larger and larger, with their cores knowing what builds to run, they have become more difficult to kill.

If these guilds instead focused on building up the community side of the guild, rather than be elitists, they would be attracting some of these new players who can turn into competent WvWers with a bit of work. Way back when guilds actually fought eachother without blobs, that was how they built members up.

The newcomers are still there to be recruited, its just many of these fight centric guilds make themselves very unapproachable that they only attract the players no one really wants in their community. Also a hint of advice, gameplay video as a recruitment requirement is just stupid, you guilds deserve to dwindle away who push for that. Those days are done.

Even the fighters are casuals now, they have aged, got lives and jobs (well some do), and your core of 15 is lucky to have 8 show up now. Your 30-40 man roster to support the 15 man raids need to increase almost two-fold to make up for the casualness. You wont get your comp every time, and when you dont, you need to adapt and play regardless. if you call your raids early because only those 8 people show up, then you deserve to lose your guild. If your main driver isn’t on, make up a squad and just play without a tag, you dont need to be coordinated, the main thing is to play with your guildmates to keep people coming back to the game mode. In the end it comes down to player laziness being at an all time high.

Guilds rarely reach out to one another anymore, or even respect eachother anymore. Back in the day you would have guilds map hopping, even with queues, to get the right kind of players on the map. Instead now you have people popping EWPs and giving false scouting reports just to get into their prefered map, and when they do want in a different map thats full, they expect the other guilds to hop off asap to let their people in. These antics do not promote the gamemode well, they make new players leave it.

Anyways i could go on for longer, TL;DR = people are lazy, you deserve your dead guilds.

Quite a bit of people transfer from cheap link to cheap link every time relinks happen, so normally by the time of week 3, relinking becomes imbalanced again. Factor in haywire rng for matchups and….

For me WvW is about small to medium size encounters (squads of 5-20 people). I believe that the objectives are where the engagements should be occurring. Most of the best fighting i have done was defending objectives being assaulted by superior forces, and this was in the days i ran with PYRO pre-maguuma collapse. Yes i do think some on both offense and defense will be on siege, its part of the game, however i do not agree with being able to have 5 rams on a gate, 6 catas on a wall, or 10 ACs raining down death on the aggressors.

Since i play in a guild who likes to Havoc on active maps, its not normally an issue to find both. I disagree that HoT killed havoc group. What HoT did do was require havoc groups to at least improve their fighting as the power creep allowed a small party of skilled roamers to really dish out a lot of damage, or simply outsustain you until more help arrived. That imo isn’t a negative drawback in a pvp enabled game mode.

Prior to HoT, many havoc groups were pure PvEers essentially, even if they spent most of their time in WvW, the PvP side of it was lost to them. Even CTH back then was more adept to fast tower caps under the enemy noses, when it failed the strategy was to die fast to regroup and hit somewhere else. The builds ran were to move fast and instant kill lord, but were completely useless to roaming and zerg fighting. This thankfully had to change, because that 5-10 second delay of killing a lord (scaling + breakbar) can often mean more defenders.

How would i fix things to promote my ideal of wvw? I posted about it plenty on these forums
1. Diminish rewards (and ppk points) on killing the SAME people over and over. You already do this with wxp rewards.
2. Remove Kill/death statistics from API. There is a lot of abuse over this scoring metric, theres a reason you dont show this in spvp, please apply the same methodology here.
3. Remove Fortified Walls, or change them to 125% of Reinforced
4. Rework Siege use in wvw.
a. Arrowcarts, Rams, shield Generators: have locked placement areas (equip it and you see blue outlines where you can build)
b. Catapults, ballistas, Trebs: Freedom of placement, but an increased range to cap limit.

Imo you should be limited to 4 rams hitting a game, and 4 catas hitting a wall. If want it to drop faster, you build trebs further out. Trebs should be limited to 2 within 1200 of eachother. ACs should have their build spots roughly 2400 units apart on walls. Shield generators build spots should only be behind walls and gates, and limited to objective owner.

Sure this seems like an overemphasis on siege, and that “wont fix the game mode” but it atleast can fix 2 issues. Blobs PvDooring will be delayed more, to go faster becomes very inefficient supply wise, and they cant use shield generators to abuse their numbers against defenders. Out numbered Defenders can delay the blob, but they will lose if no one comes to help fast. Defenders can still use ballistas, but they always have a tradeoff with positioning.

As a PST player i love that daylight savings have shifted the time to 7pm reset, since i can rush home from work and get in map right at reset and afk in spawn while i finish making dinner. When reset is an hour early, i often get stuck in queue to join the guild. So i say let’s all.be inconvenienced and move the reset time to noon PST.

This way the reset rush would be occupied by a lot fewer groups and militia only. Probably would only see EBG queued by the time the est prime time hits. It would also end the ridiculous reset meetings many servers have that are a waste of time

As ive posted in several of these topics before, Desert bl is clearly less active in every single matchup, every single week.

Stop saying desert bl is fine.
No one bothers to go and cap the camps cus its simply way too far, causing everything to freely upgrade due to the afk dolly method. (different subject, also kitten)

When wvw is filled with a veteran population who already decided how much they hate DBL long ago, where will the activity come from? established guilds often ignore the BL, and there is little to no new guilds being established to change the trend. metrics like that are skewed when there is too little new blood venturing into WvW to form an untainted opinion.

I have been having a blast in DBL lately because both FA and JQ atleast show up to the map to play. Sure they arent the fight guild purists showing up often, but atleast its active, full of fights and havoc activity.

Re-look at Diamond Skin

Ele’s do not need more sustain in the current meta. The old diamond skin was overpowered, especially with the meta being constant high ticks of healing from not only eles.

At most i think they should tweak it for resistance vs immunity.
Say 4 conditions to trigger, clear all conditions and Resistance for 4 seconds. with an ICD of 60 seconds.

this way it deals with the burst condi’s you see in a zerg

Small group vs zerg

I think a lot of the people saying yes are failing to take into account the periphery players not in the group. Had the op said 10 Vs 30 it’s still possible even if the 30 is organized but bad. Back in the day 20 Vs a map queue could be done, back in old pyro days i was lucky enough to be apart of this a couple times, but back then pugs weren’t as organized and critical damage had a much bigger punch.

When you see an enemy zerg of 40+ especially in prime time, they may not be all the same guild but they often have a lot of people who know what builds to run so its not going to happen with just 15 unless you find yourself in off hours facing eotm quality forces. 20 Vs 40 is still a challenge but a pin snipe with a well timed epi may work, but often only results in a retreat

I hate to break it to you but defense is the gamemode,. I wouldn’t call sitting on a piece of siege a gamemode itself, but rather a small piece of the puzzle that is map defense. Idling away in keeps, repairing from within structures and sitting on siege is what i call passive map defense. Going out recapping camps and sentries, escorting yaks and defending objectives is active map defense. Which mode is more engaging and promotes wvw play more? Even arenanet will agree it’s active gameplay, that is why participation is so heavily tied to those actions. It doesn’t take much to hop out of a keep and escort the yak to keep your participation up, but I’m afraid that you might die if an enemy shows up. Arenanet should never promote the increase of rewards for avoiding engagements. The rate of decay participation has is perfect right now, some may abuse repairing in smc, but that is a very small number compared to what would happen is passive defense had increased rewards.

I would agree with what has been said prior that participation as a whole could be tweaked a bit higher but I’d go further and say that player kill experience and rewards should be tweaked lower to compensate. I personally have little issues with killing people and rarely find myself i a situation where Im being farmed, but i feel that it takes greater effort to work an active map then to blob up and run over people.

As for trying to to redirect the trend in player culture towards passive defense, arenanet could do a little, but the end result would still be these people standing in the wall looking out afraid of dying. It’s a tricky thing to fix kitten many justify it by ignoring the fact the game is supposed to be a blend of siege and pvp.

Possible tweaks arenanet could do would be locked in Siege build locations for arrowcarts, rams, shield generators and leave ballistas catas and trebs to be placed anywhere. They can tweak down AC damage and balance that out with the removal of them taking damage from passive traits and runes to balance it.

Sure i look biased since i was in that video, but CTH is not known as a fight guild or even one of those roaming gank squads. The guild is based off of map defenders across all hours, causal roamers and a havoc group when they run in prime time. We believe that a good night of wvw involves both fights and objective based play. I think we are the only ones left from old Maguuma with this outlook :/

Add missing stats to reward tracks armors

All i see here is a give me everything now scenerio. While i will give you the point there is no ascended armour/weapon option like spvp and fractals, they do give you an acceptable amount of HoT stat selectable gear. The trick is to keep the LS3 tracks running and build up their currencies. I have 6 sets of accessories/rings/back/amulet just by doing this, with very minimal time in the pve zone (achievements then gone). I often try to keep a nest egg of those currencies in case of meta change.

Remember that you are not farming this gear, its just from you playing the way you wish, so it should be slower than a direct grind in the PVE zone. By switching between tracks, you can get some of the exotics you will need no problem, leaving you with very few slots that you need to fill out. You often dont need full HoT stats, since you cap out your +duration with food, so it makes a full set even easier.

So a TL;DR bite the bullet and craft the pieces you are missing. No one is forcing you to run every slot with HoT stats and nor should it be a free ride to completely gear yourself. As in most MMOs, trying to do things fast will cost you, and wvw gear should be no different.

Desert Borderland Map

I find desert BL to be great for small mans. I play mostly prime time, and during this time, any BL you play on, if you are the only group it can be rather harsh. Its not the mechanics, its the lack of players. The map needs 2 or 3 groups running to properly be played, whether its fights or PPT. It doesn’t need a full map blob, and even as a small group, you can still have an easier more rewarding time outnumbered on desert vs outnumbered on alpine thanks to more smaller objectives to cap.

Most complaints i hear are based off of false impressions. ie
1. Opinions formed at HoT launch, when it was indeed horrible to traverse.
2. they still don’t know the layout of the map
3. their zerglings die to fall damage (still happens in alpine, but there people laugh rather than blame the map), if you want to take a short cut, aim for the hay and yell it in chat before you jump.
4. claim the map is slow…. They don’t cap shrines to maintain their swiftness AND they dont tell their zerg to interact with the shrine when they miss the cap point. This is a huge mistake to make on this map. Also eliminating shrine bonuses while assaulting keeps is essential. I often find this complaint ties into the lack of familiarity with the map.
5. Defense is greatly Biased vs alpine! not completely true, like alpine, northern towers are easy for defenders to go to. Southern towers take time for defenders to respond, like alpine. Contesting waypoints is how you get away with assaulting most objectives. People are just more lazy now and less people take initiative enough to split off and do this. the only thing that is different is its harder to use player skills to kill siege, you often have to clear siege with siege if its being defended well. So this would be a commander error vs a defense bias.

For small groups i would say the bias towards defense does exist for air keep only, that lord’s CC combined with its hopping around takes way too long for a small group to deal with. Other than that, its pretty much on par with alpine when it comes to a map with an active defense force.

These arent just PPT related issues. WvW isn’t a deathmatch, so stop expecting that you need to do nothing to get the fights you want. If you are a large group looking for fights, if you don’t assault a keep properly, you will be outsieged and it is your fault, not the enemy for being “bad players who use siege.” If you beat them to Lord Room, then you get your fight, focus on clearing siege once you are in to allow the enemy to come. Putting orange swords on lord right away will just make them retreat if they are too far away. I see this happen on Alpine, and on EBG, so don’t blame it on desert bl. if you are a smaller group looking for fights, the goal is to hit things fast and hard, go for the cap, and kill the force responding, giving yourself an objective to fall back on if the enemy far outnumbers you. This is basic map tactics that were used by the old fight groups, and they are still valid for desert BL. Its just everyone is always in EBG going for that open field fight with their metacomped group + always present roamers vs unorganized pugs, so of course they will complain about DBL, it takes effort otherwise and this current generation of WvWers are equivalent to most millennials in today’s workforce.

Personally i think going to the extent the OP suggests is way overkill and heavily risks more power creep in wvw. At the moment it already is suffering from that so these kind of changes really need to be done carefully. We also don’t want to water down classes that already specialize in utility over raw damage. Justine.6351 is on the right track with revamping the system instead. Roll wvw rank points into a hero point like format to invest to obtain trait line abilities. So here’s my take on how to improve the system……

Split up the Trait lines into several categories with the same format as professions: 3 selectable traits and 3 locked traits per line. Only 3 full lines can be selected at a time. You need to go to spawn in order to reset your traits (must be determined), but it will not reset what traits you have unlocked with your rank points.

Assault Siege mastery: Treb, Cata, Ram (Interchangeable traits related to these)
Defensive Siege Mastery: Arrowcarts, Ballista, Shield Generator (Interchangeable traits related to these)
Fortification Defense Mastery: Oil, Mortar, Cannon (Interchangeable traits related to these)
Supply Mastery: Build, Repair, capacity related to supply.
Environment (i have no idea waht to call this): Guard/mercenery related, immunity to sentry immob, Golem can fit in here too i guess….

I know people are asking for Kits, but i think a single skill would suffice, the skills become available once you unlock and equip a full traight line. The reason i say just this one skill, is because the skill slot has already been implemented in living world 3. We can call it a WvW Elite Skill, all have 30 minute cooldowns to prevent it from being overabused. So this means with trait lines fully equipped, you have 3 wvw elites to choose from the available 5. They all share a cooldown. Not a huge deal by themselves, but a few people coordinating their wvw elite can help add a huge punch to their small force.

Assault Siege Kit: Skill bar replaced with each of these three superior siege type, Placing 1 siege from this kit will put it on cooldown for 30 minutes.
Defensive Siege Kit: Skill bar replaced with each of these three superior siege type, Placing 1 siege from this kit will put it on cooldown for 30 minutes.
Bubble: The current Siege you are on gets immunity from damage and disables for 30 seconds, you also get this immunity while on the piece of siege. Cannot be rotated between players, 30 minute cooldown remains. If becomes overpowered, adding a short duration disable after the immunity can help balance it out.
Personal Supply Drop: +15 Supply to the supply you are currently carrying.
Under the Radar: Sentries and Watchtowers won’t reveal you for 5 minutes. Stealth traps and reveal skills will still remove you from stealth. mesmers can use this to hide in keeps once more.

I know people want more done to wvw and will complain it doesn’t fix the problems they see are more important, but it can improve one small aspect of wvw and help reduce the grind needed for new players to have a more efficient wvw experience. Even unlocking one tree only to get that elite helps. Some Categories like provisions master can remain always enabled once you invest the wvw hero points, but there should be very limited number of categories that don’t get the trait line treatment.. A map full of tier 3 objectives is often a dead map, giving havoc squads even a little bone like this will entice them to be more active against these hard to crack objectives. In the past there was a lot more action but the automated upgrades, tactivators and lord scaling really affected the ability for small guilds to make quick efficient strikes.

Remember that this system im suggesting doesn’t remove any wvw abilities from people, everything can still be done by everyone. But as an experienced player, you will no longer be able to have every single wvw siege skill unlocked at one time, nor will you get every single passive bonus, you will need to pick and choose according to what kind of wvw you plan to play and must go back to citidal or spawn to change wvw traits out. Yea thats a draw back to a veteran, but atleast you will be getting a skill to use in return.
