@Bhawb I am hoping they help the other classes out with condition management more so than actually nerf the necro overall. It is why I rolled a necro eventually was for its ability to manipulate conditions etc.. Something that I was unable to do well with mesmer and thief after spending lots gold trying out combinations. Necro is my newest class but I have enjoyed it alot so far because it is what I wanted to achieve with my mesmer and thief when it comes to a condition damage build.

I like being able to have conditions as the main form of damage and build around that actually going into the condition damage line and going in the condition duration line instead of like my other classes where you spec condition but you usually take 1 or the other lines and not both at the same time.

In sPvP and tPvP play I can see some changes can be made to the current meta overall. I hope not many of those changes boil over to PvE/WvW.

he wants to make some changes to condition-based team comps, as he thinks lethality right now is very high. “We really want to try to introduce soft counters, rather than builds and counter-builds.”

5 members of my guild are ranked in the Top 50 of tPvP another is ranked top 3 in solo Q 1 of the members said that Jon was talking in GW2sPvPtv chat on twitch and saying a few of the changes that would be coming soon. It sounded like there would be some changes (not just necro but he did say that Jon mentioned necro’s but other classes not specifically condi classes) but also some help for classes that have issues dealing with condis like Mesmer’s.

Will be interesting what they will come up with hope its good overall for the game.

Discuss? Maybe we get Jon to peek into the forums.

Rare Opal Orbs only have 2 stats!!

They currently only have 2 stats. They should be the same as Ruby Orbs but with precision as the main stat. 2 stats is like master work level. Please fix!

They will probably settle at 20-30g range like the skins before it. The GS skin sat around 24-26g pretty much the whole year and spiked last I checked (yesterday) to 36g.

The sites crafting setup is assuming you want to spend all your money to jump to 500. If you go to the thread they posted on reddit you can see many people stated that their method is way more expensive to get to 500 because they have you craft so many exotics in that guide when you don’t need to. Also there is time gate I don’t understand the rush tbh. Just get to 450 and sit on it till you get to 500. You can always boost it up at a later time when mats aren’t crazy expensive.

What's the top dueling profession?

This one is hard to pin down(I have re-wrote my post 3 times already)

My initial impression was to say Mesmer 20/20/30 condi build but then I thought that a tanky guardian or warrior won’t die to that build as long as they are smart when they have confusion on them and don’t run around killing the clones all the time. They might not kill the mesmer but it be a draw, then you take a phantasm/high damage mesmer and they can wreck a guardian and warrior.

Then there is everyone else and I don’t change up for duels but usually if I lose a duel for some reason on my mesmer I know the fight is different if I just change a off hand weapon.

I have to give to mesmer. I have a necro, warrior, ele, thief and mesmer.

Mesmer with staff no matter the builds purpose (condi or power) against most classes really depends on if you have a torch in your off-hand or a pistol. No other class that I play or know about changes that much a duels outcome. (why dueling should be taken with a grain of salt though it is fun)

?o what about of nemesis’s hybrid build? if you use traveler insted of divinity? I know i can finaly ditch signet of the locust and replace it with other skill. But i lose 6 crit dmg points…

It should be good in that build it is a dps loss obviously but it depends on how much you really like the movement speed and if your group cares if you are running optimal or not.

It shouldn’t be something you should really notice much you could replace locust with spite to get dps from signet of spite.

I am running terror build with runes of the traveler and so far I love it. I am also running full dire armor and weapons and love that also.

I was running 5 perplexity and 1 crest of rabid : bleed was 124, burn 735

With my new setup: bleed 117, burn 704

Dire Stat Combination

Maybe someone can enlighten me, how can we obtain this (LIGHT) armor. Cannot be leatherwork crafted, cant find any vendors, and the TP only has 2 pieces on it and they are just level 75…

Look on the Trading post for Jatoro’s armor you buy it and then double click it to change the stats to dire. You can’t do this with explorer so don’t buy explorers and attempt.

For weapons look on the trading post for Traveler’s Scepter etc… There is pearl dire gear which I believe people are getting from mystic forging. Cavalier and magi is also available on the TP.

They are expensive in some cases just a fyi.

Also make sure you double click to select stats on the character you want it on once you double click and select stats it becomes soulbound.

I agree with ren they are a top condition damage rune. I wish they went with something different than copy and paste of Vampirisms 2 and 4 piece bonus. The 6 is decent though.

Myself am in full dire(loving it) 30/20/0/0/20 and I am running the Runes of the Traveler basically for the 4 and 6 piece sets. Its a condition damage loss from the perplex I was running but I like it so far I don’t usually run locust signet but having the extra movement and extra condi duration is nice the 15% boon duration isn’t really a big factor.

A flat 25% movement speed buff counts for a lot. I thought strongly about those runes as well, but the loss of 100’s of condition damage was too much for me. For WvW, where you just run all the time, they are certainly (finally) a condition user option that doesn’t need condition damage.

On the dire stats, I must say they are quite a change. With stacks I am looking at over 28000 HP, which is quite a large health pool. Considering my condition damage is also higher because of the scavenging runes, and the bursing sigil, the last two patches have really upped my damage (another strange thing to do with an already bursty condition problem).

Still no rework on blood. That made me sad.

Wow where do you end up condition damage wise with that much vit and the runes and bursting?

well i was hoping for ANET TO reply, since they were ona posting spree. But have since stopped.

And yes they have said they r looking into GVG, and commander tags. however they have never said wut about the commander tags they were looking at changing , and im sure many of us would like to know, atleast a hint on wut they r adding to or looking at changing about the tag.

The posting spree is from Devon he almost always posts at least once on the weekends. Anet for the most part is closed on the weekends today is a holiday so I wouldn’t be surprised if most weren’t at work today Devon was mostly giving out information on the new League stuff in WvW that is why he posted so much. If you look at the dev tracker often (which I do) posts from devs usually pick up between Tuesday and Friday. Weekends for the most part usually have no activity except Devon is the dev I see post the most on weekends.

You’re completely missing the point.

There’s a huge chunk of serious PvPers who agree that Anet gave a huge advantage to necros with their animations. I’m sorry but if you don’t agree that laying down marks on a player’s feet INSTANTLY with no telegraphed animation while causing CC/huge condition damage (dhuumfire/fearbomb/etc) is absurd then I don’t know what to tell ya.

Serious tournament players want to see things like this improved.

This is exactly my point people from sPvP bring it over to WvW when then to are not the same. You shown your balance mentality is sPvP but it doesn’t apply here sorry Spirit rangers are not destroying WvW, Mesmers are not out of the WvW meta, you can cap Towers and Camps with out running Necro’s and Spirit rangers, Eles are viable in WvW. You don’t HAVE to run anything in WvW that you don’t want to in order to be competitive you can just zerg it up if you like.

I don’t even know why you bring up sPvP in the discussion when balance happens there it has more of an affect on WvW players then vice verse. Really most of the balance in the game is dictated by sPvP.

Brb while I go spectator mode in WvW to observe the meta!

Thanks for the evidence supporting what I’m saying. Did you pay attention to the time difference between the the conditions being applied and the ITTY BITTY TINY puff of smoke that appears that can happen from 1200 range that doesn’t even differentiate between other signets?

Are you saying that’s as obvious as ANY ranger ability from 1200 range? As obvious as a warrior using his F1 hammer burst or ANY attack the warrior has? Lava font, eruption, meteor shower, ice spike or most Elementalist attacks?

A necro can just press a button or put down marks on his target instantly and are completely unavoidable. They honestly need to add some type of animation to most necro abilities. There are a few skills in the game belonging to other classes which have the same issue but the necro has the most.

I supported what you said? How? You said conditions are applied then the signet appears over the necro’s head which is not the case. The signet appears first then conditions are applied which is the opposite of what you said. Spin it however you like but facts are facts sure you can backtrack now if you like though. You can’t dodge it or use tactics to avoid it. There’s many other things similar to this that you can’t see coming that the necro has and it’s garbage and needs to be fixed.

You seriously sound like a noob tbh. Any profession with any signet on shows on its buff bar. Do you not pay attention to the buff bar? You know the bar that has important things on it like stability and boons and SIGNETS? Necros in WvW run 2 signets locust and spite. Occasionally they run Plague which looks like a skull. You might need to start mousing over the buff bar and learn about other classes then come back when your better informed.

I appreciate your candor, trouble is it’s also one more reason for many of us to go elsewhere. Sorry, but to be equally as blunt, I’m not concerned with the degree of difficulty it adds to the job of balance. The developers are paid to deal with that. If I tell my boss something makes my job too hard, he’ll nod and hire someone else. That’s the gig we signed on for as developers. I guess your boss is more easy going than mine, or most in the industry. If your superior comes in tomorrow and says “Do it..” you’re in the same boat as me. Do it or look for work. No easy solution. The result for now is pvp kills pve yet again.

It would be interesting to see the WvW players that have NOT played GW1, try the pvp system there. I bet a high percentage would prefer it. I’ve played a fair few mmo’s and the one positive thing all the hard core pvpr’s have said that tried GW1 pvp, is/was they liked the system and preferred it.

Devons boss is not about to come and tell Devon to “Do it” if the boss himself doesn’t intend for it to be done that way.

If you go back and look at any SOTG they have said they didn’t want to use that system with all the skills like in GW1 all the separation and stated why they aren’t using that system. Colin Johanson has said the same thing. Allie has said the same thing in the sPvP forums. You should be noticing a theme here. That theme is that they aren’t going to do a mass skill split and they definitely aren’t going to use the same system as in GW1. It’s been stated multiple times over and over again.

So if your going to another game and leaving then peace out if that reason is that you want the skill split like in GW1 because it’s not going to happen.

Condition bombing is how these specs play by default: Necromancer is the strongest offender but Engies aren’t far behind. The only condi-heavy specs that actually play towards attrition are Thieves and Mesmers, and I would say in the case of the latter two it’s only because of limitation and not due to player intent.

There’s little reason to ever not use Engie pistol skills or Necro staff and scepter skills when they’re off cooldown, because they’re all pure damage and/or used to proc traits that also deal damage. Spite Signet is a nuke plain and simple, it has a very brief cast time and was only recently given some sort of animation. Staff #5, DS #5 and Pistol #3 are all powerful nukes, as are the burning traits that can randomly proc on anything for any of both class’ skills. The damage itself is very high on these abilities without considering that they ignore armor, Prot and much else besides.

Thief and Mesmer condition builds everyone adjusted to mostly thief and the newer 20/20/30 mesmer condi build became popular after people already adjusted. P/D thieves popped up into wvw and everyone was complaining there are tons of videos of P/D thieves 1vX people saying its OP. Now its much harder to kill someone as a P/D thief (not because of culling ended) many people now run builds that deal with 1-2 conditions easily more people run foods, melandru runes, remove condi on heal passive condi removal traits. Mesmers can pump out alot of conditions almost as fast as a necro but a large part of it relies on your enemy killing your clones.

So P/D thieves for example didn’t get nerfed (outside of caltrops util) they got some pretty good buffs its just that everyone runs builds now that laugh at applying 1 or 2 conditions (its probably why they added torment to shadow strike).

WvW only skills?

Look at thief if you run a thief in WvW and then go around in sPvP you have a 4 sec reveal that is huge and will throw your timing off especially if you play 1 game mode more than another. That is the most extreme example but a good example.

Then what is effective and what isn’t between the other game modes it just wouldnt be inviting having to remember how each works in each setting etc.

Look on the front or second page of WvW discussion people complaining about condition “meta” like this is sPvP that actually has a condition heavy meta. 1 class gets burning or a new rune set comes out and all of a sudden we are in a condition meta? Or its the small man teams and roamers complaining about it. I small man roam all the time but I know in the grand scheme necro’s getting burning and runes of perplexity don’t have a large impact on if Garrison in my home borderland gets taken. Who would be right or wrong?

I am fine how it is now I just would rather the WvW stay closer in line with PvE than in sPvP. I am still waiting for the thread where people complain about spirit rangers in WvW so I can chuckle.

Ascended will not be a free win vs exotic

I don’t think you understand the difference between “free win” and “at a disadvantage”.

10%+ is a significant advantage, people would kill for 10% bonus damage/hp/etc in actually competitive games.

I also can’t help but notice that you’re in a t8 server also, that recently moved up from t9. And I hate to bring any kind of tier elitism and I’m not saying that therefore you’re bad but t8 dude t8.

People get +6% HP cause their server is winning and +6% healing effectiveness. I don’t see threads asking for the Realm bonuses to be going away? We should make a thread to get rid of bonuses for the server in first place its unfair right?

Alot of people grabbed celestial gear because it’s the best you can get if you are looking for more than 3 stats that you get alot of uses from.

I dont care about the magic find I put it on my ele because my ele gets use out of all the stats in some form on a consistant basis. There are alot of people that run celestial and really don’t care about the magic find on it at all.

From this thread I guess there are alot of people that care about the magic find on it too.

Solution? make it magic find account bound so you don’t have to run X with Y character because Z doesn’t have magic find gear. Works for me.

You aren’t locked in.

Those matches came down to map awareness/playing the map. Caed was losing every 1v1 and Twerp was constantly giving away home point for free. They got out rotated and outplayed, and it wasn’t so much about classes; although Caed and the two spirit rangers were essentially hard countered by the warrior.

Why wasn’t I locked in? I wasn’t speaking on their strategy as far as rotations I was staying on topic with the thread we are in. 1 team is balanced with 5 different professions and 1 team has 3 of the supposed OP classes in the game. Caed was kind of hard countered by everyone even when he met the other thief 1v1 its basically all over the sPvP forums now how sync was losing so many 1v1’s.

I was just speaking on team composition and staying with the theme of the thread I would go to the actual sPvP forums if I wanted to really talk strategy.

You click one signet and almost every condition in the game is applied to your target and they didn’t see it coming.

What?!?

When a necro casts signet of spite there is a big Yellow signet that appears over their head that looks like a yellow full moon that screams “Hello I’m casting my Signet of Spite” at the same time the necro also does a hand animation. Signet of spite is a very telegraphed move that can be blocked, blinded, dodged etc.

Its also usually a 1v1 tool if its not 1v1 and a necro has spite on it probably has epidemic so that leaves 1 stun breaker.

It is not much of a sample I need to watch more of the esl matches but just watching the finals what I saw is the balanced team with 5 different professions beat the team that had 3 of the supposed OP classes. Viewing with all the asura and aoe is a different thing.

It could have been the case that CC was just way better than Sync even though Team Curse would have been the actual EU representative if they weren’t disqualified.

It was the finals for the first major tournament and those where my observations. The teams must not have been locked into professions since CC decided to go warrior instead of engi/ele.

The mats will be available on the TP, even the time-gated ones, so yeh you can just buy it and make it.

Also, yeh, thanks for misstating what I said. Time-gating is inactive and lazy. Getting these ascended items should be involve active steps, not 99% waiting.

Same I don’t have a problem with it at all. You can get all the materials to craft from WvW and the one that you get the least of is the bricks from champ mobs since there arent alot of champ mobs in WvW.

It’s time-gated anyway so people don’t have it on day 1. If you don’t like crafting then I am not really sure what to tell you tbh. They come out with the blogs etc telling you what is coming people don’t look at them I suppose and then are upset like Anet surprised them.

I am fine with gear progression. I’ve always liked it in small doses, which is what Anet gives. The only issue I have with Anet gear progression is the amount of time they want people to put into getting the gear.

OP doesn’t like the itemspire (is this a new buzzword? I thought the buzzword was power creep)

I don’t mind it and I would prefer if I could buy it day one. Person I quoted doesn’t mind it but doesn’t like the time restriction on it. Who is right? Who is wrong? How do you please all 3 types of us? You can’t have to find middle ground as best as they can = not everyone will be happy.

I understand why the time-gate is there because I would just buy what I need and make it with in 3 minutes of the patch going live. If I was allowed to do that then someone will make a thread and say “omg what about us that don’t have alot of money?” :GW2 is pay to win" it’s a never ending cycle.

It’s not about making one more like the other. It’s called making a Player Vs Player mode (WvW IS PvP regardless of Anet trying to claim its PvE) more in line with competitive PvP.

SPvP has a negative connotation with some people in WvW that it really doesn’t deserve. In the end they are both PvP Game Modes, and yes sPvP has been botched badly by Anet with the extreme limits they put on customization, but if they made it more in line with the way things were in Guild Wars 1, I have no doubt there would be more interest in both sides.

GW1 PvP – Alliance Battles, HoH, GvG, FA, and JQ had the same type of people that were interested in Random Arena, Team Arena, etc.

If Anet took away the limits they’ve put on sPvP and applied the customizability to WvW, GW2 would see a much higher level of competitive play, strategies, and builds. Team composition could be perfected and guilds would much more time to play with their builds instead of having to commit to leveling a character from 0-80 before realizing its not what they wanted.

To this I don’t understand what your saying took away the limits on sPvP and applied customizability to WvW? Is this backwards what you are saying?

You can’t fully recreate a build in sPvP that you have in WvW but many builds that become popular in WvW for different classes usually come from sPvP. They also have the same people that complain about those builds in sPvP complain about them in WvW (which is dumb imo) I don’t see spirit rangers killing zergs but w/e.

I had a buy order in for 8 when the initial new came out a few days ago. Only 2 where filled. I read what it was going to change to and sold those 2 immediately. I just don’t see the value in it. Maybe in just PvE some people will like it in WvW I don’t see why you would take this over any other stacker.

You do realise that this stat combo is gonna lead to more crying from tards that necro is “op” and “unkillable” when used in wvw.

Personally I don’t think they should have added this stat combo, conditions are strong enough as it is. The fact that you had to choose between rabid, carrion or a mix from the two came with some form of drawback; gave you either less hp or less toughness.

One could argue that they also have a power version (ppt) but those builds don’t exactly are hard hitters so come with a draw back in less overall damage. With this cond dmg set you gain survivability and don’t suffer any loss in overall dmg.

Condition builds did not need buffing, at all.

If you just think about it who would kill faster if you had a 30/20/0/0/20 build both with sigil of earth on their scepter and auto attacking.

They both have the same attack speed and would stack bleeds at the same time at the same rate with same duration.

The rabid necro would crit more often stacking more bleeds than the dire stat necro and would crit his direct damage more often than the dire stat necro. The rabid necro would be at 48% chance to crit while the dire stat necro would be at 19% chance to crit.

I would definitely say losing 29% critical chance is a dps loss wouldn’t you agree?

While the main point of going condi is for condi damage your direct damage is a factor just like it is for direct damage builds that have bleeds on attacks by default. There is just no way around the math even though it feels like it doesn’t matter much.

I am really interested to see what happens with rune of scavenging life steal effects could be pretty interesting.

I don’t see this being a bad thing with this stat combo people are already contemplating dropping dhuumfire and all their points in spite which means -30% condition duration. That extra condition duration is important when you come across a melandru/lemongrass/dogged march warrior.

Yeah, I absolutely see myself taking these and the ascended with a little precisions, dropping earth sigil for geo, dropping 30 points in spite for some other combination (banking on an improvement to blood), and run the scavenger runes for life steal and condi damage.

Of course it is all speculation right now, but it would be the first time I have deviated from Rabid in 10 months.

So your thinking to drop all 30 points from spite? Me and a guildie are talking about it in TS right now I could see dropping 10 from spite but losing an additional 20% condition duration I don’t know.

What is there in spite to justify those 20 points? As a conditionmancer spite is pretty much dhuumfire or bust.

Hmm there are probably 2 traits I do like but I can see your point. Ill be trying 0/30/10/0/30 most of this weekend.

The info is on reddit where it was datamined with this last patch.

Example:

You have Bitfrost and you transmutated it to rabid stats. When you use the transmutation splitter you get back Bitfrost and whatever staff you used with rabid stats.

If you say transmutated Bitfrost with a clerics staff then a beserkers staff and lastly a Carrion staff you get back.

Since I already run a build based off carrion instead of rabid gear as well as these ascended pieces in wvw, I figured I’d state the nearly obvious and point out that a build without doesn’t lend itself well to dhuumfire.

You just need a crit and its guaranteed proc as long as you don’t have a super low crit chance I don’t see it being much of a issue.

The most hilarious part, as you should probably know as a cond. engineer. Is that the cond. engineer hasnt changed much at all since launch.

It got a couple of nerfs, a little buff. All in all its been in pretty much the same spot for over a year now.

And all of a sudden, very recently, Conditions are an issue and need to be fixed. And yet every example comes down to “so, this Necro…” And then follows a suggestion or demand that would nerf all conditions across the board. Even on builds that are bad, or have never been an issue.

People are projecting the issue with Necro’s and the Perplexity runes upon ALL condition builds.
Thats like nerfing Guardians because Thieves backstab for to much damage.

It has been brought up then dismissed or not answered. Condition have done the same amount of damage since launch besides confusion in WvW. The burning that everyone hates so much that necro’s got is single target anyway and does the same damage as anybody elses burning.

Condition warriors have always been around but not that great healing signet gets a buff impale gets torment so people started running condition warrior again. The only drastic change is implae gets torment and hps.

I don’t know much about rangers but they always had good condi builds.

I think one of the biggest problems with direct damage is that it takes 3 stats to max namely power, precision, and crit damage – leaving you no room to max out a defensive stat like healing, toughness, or vitality.

Condition builds on the other hand only require 1 stat for damage, with maybe a bit of condition duration built in.

Not really fair is it.

You don’t have to max all of those stats you are basically saying everyone in WvW is either Glass or Bunker and there is no inbetween. Some classes have traits or weapon skills that allow you to make up that damage or more than if your gloves are zerker instead of pvt.

Counter examples:

Warrior with base 30% chance to crit runs Unsuspecting foe trait and the popular Skull crack Mace/Shield + GS he stuns he gets +80% chance to crit during that time his Signet of rage is popped and then he is at 100% chance to crit so he can sacrifice his critical chance for defensive stats if he chose to.

Any trait that gives you a +% damage multiplier

Any trait that gives you fury when X requirement is met.

Condition builds damage is condi damage and condi duration out of the 5 classes I play theif, warrior, necromancer, mesmer, and elementalist. There are far more traits that boost direct damage than there are that will boost your condition damage.

Of those classes they really have 1 or 2 traits that will boost your condition damages dps while there are multiple damage increase traits like fury traits, critical chance increases and +X% damage multipliers in almost every tree for those 5 classes so I am sure the other 3 classes are the same.

Usually the best you get for condition damage increases is +33% increase to 1 specific condition.

You could argue might but they both increase direct damage and condi so they kind of cancel each other out.

I’m thinking of WvW. Those are usually the main damage and condition damage food and those are probably the best counters to those particular foods. I was wondering if they are equally effective offensively and the defensive ones defensively to each other. Not sure if this could be figured out but wanted to ask anyway.

Using these stats for comparison

Condition build with 1650 condition damage and 30% base condition duration able to apply bleeds with 6 second base and burns with a 4 second base.

Power/crit build with 2k power 50% crit chance and 70 crit damage. Hitting a target with 2.8k armor.

Does +40% condition duration and 70 condition damage give as much dps as 100 power and 10 crit damage would to the power build hitting that 2.8k armor target.

On the flip side defensively would -40% condition duration and 70 vitality reduce dps of those conditions comparatively to the damage reduction that the 2.8k armor target would get if he used 100 toughness and 70 vitality food.
