Hey guys, here are some of the improvements you can expect to see for the October 15th release. Let us know what you think about them and we’ll take this into consideration. Some of these may not make it in for that release, but I wanted to give you guys a high level preview of what we’re working on and give you an opportunity to give us your feedback.

Trait tooltips
Traits will now have tooltips in the same way that skills do. This means that you’ll be able to see EXACTLY how long an effect lasts, what its cooldown is, etc. We want this system to be as transparent as possible for our players, so that they can make the best decisions when creating their profession builds.

Skill tooltips as they pertain to traits
As traits impact a skill, we’ve also made it so that as skills are impacted by a trait, the skill’s tooltips adjust accordingly. Again, we want players to be able to see these details in their builds, so that they can build their characters exactly the way they want! We’ll be using different colors to show this so that it’s easier for players to see!

Other Misc. fixes:
Tab Targeting Improvements

  • Now prioritizes Champs/Legendary, then players/clones, then everything else
  • Deselecting your target now resets tab selection history (aka, you’ll start tabbing through from the beginning if you deselect)
  • Can now tab target if your character can see the target (Was dependent on camera before)

Floater Improvements:
When you cause condition damage, all damage of a given type (burning, bleed, poison, etc.) will be grouped into a single # with an icon, making them much easier to read. This also allows players suffering from these conditions to more easily see them, and know when they should use condition removal. Note that this is an option, so that you can disable it if you want to (and return to the old system).

Better fast cast ground targeting:
We split this into 3 different options; so that players can more easily cater how ground targeting works for them.

  1. Double tap to cast
  2. Press the button to cast
  3. Release the button to cast
    SO GET YO CAST ON!

Pet HP split between PvE and PvP
We wanted to make pets and summons more viable in PvE/WvW while making sure they didn’t become too strong in PvP.

Launch will now be stun breakable
We felt it made it sense to let stun breakers also help you when you are launched, since this is consistent with how stun breakers respond to other control effects.

Nec
The Blood line underwent some tweaks, as it’s something that Necromancer players often feel is a lacking trait line. Vampiric Precision, Vampiric Rituals, Vampiric Master have all seen improvements.

For QoL (again, quality of life) we also improved the Life Force meter to show the actual bar better (moved slightly so it’s not competing with the skill icon for UI space), and the bar now shows your current Life Force amount, and the tooltip also shows current/max Life Force available. It makes it much easier to see how much Life Force you have, and lets you plan your engagements better.

Warrior
We’re looking to improve shouts so that support via shouts is more viable. This means moving Lung Capacity to Tier 1 so that you can take it along with Shrug it Off and Vigorous Shouts. The Warrior is in a pretty decent place overall right now, and sees play in many types of content, as well as in PvP/WvW.

The fact that they are so strong is why they are so expensive (and limited supply).

He wasn’t talking about the rune being expensive (it’s the most expensive condition damage rune but it is far from the most expensive rune.) The reason they are GOOD for condition builds is because it provides extra dps even if you didn’t have a 6 bonus. The 4 piece alone is a damage increase. Its like taking orgres for your 4% extra damage.

After playing with these runes for a while. On 3 of my classes. I removed them from my necromancers(many necros I know don’t run them anymore either)

I still have them on my thief because it allows me to run any off-set weapon and still get a possible proc from 4 piece. I don’t have to run bow. Yes I can headshot spam but imo that usually gets you killed and I only feel that is viable against at GS mesmer(swapped to and actually spamming autos) , Necro, and a SB spamming Ranger, or a thief that is trying to hide in shadows or trying to blackpowder/hs for invis. Other than that headshot spamming will get you killed against every other class/build imo.

They are on my mesmer because well its confusion rune why not.

I like the 4 piece and I feel its fine the 6 piece should just get a icd so it is inline with other runes keep the stacks the same. 5 stacks of confusion isn’t much because before these runes I didn’t see people asking for Mesmer Scepter 3’s confusing images to be nerfed which is also 5 stacks. I would say 15 secs on the 6 piece is fair for a icd.

I like the idea of attrition builds. I have other characters in my sig necro is my newest character. I spent alot of gold trying to figure out condition builds for my mesmer and thief and it just doesn’t cut it. Necro is where its at for me my warrior is about big damage though so I use him for big numbers.

So when you “looked at the graph”, did you disable the buy and sell listing price? Because your info ignores the elephant in the room. At all the dates you indicate, the price is hovering around 155-161g. As usual. The day before the patch, it jumped to 200g, a price point it had never reached before, and which cannot be explained by the mere magic find changes. If you can whip out 160g for a staff, the stats on it are pretty much irrelevant.

The only public info given, on 31 August in the official blog post, was:

“The only exceptions to this rule are in some high-end weapons that will still get the ability to select their stats, but will remain tradable.”

So did immobulus, infinite light, or any other high end MF weapon get bought up the day before the patch, and shot up in price? No. Just the crossing and the mad moon, the latter of which shows identical activity from 1-2 September as the crossing. (Apparently, arachnophobia wasn’t that interesting; I don’t like it much either, but that’s beside the point).

I don’t use spidey I use GWtrade(same api as spidey) it doesn’t have the avg sell and all the extra lines just buy, sell, supply, demand the stuff that matters.

I just posted the supply as the OP stated someone bought them all up and that the crossing doesn’t sell that fast. I did not expand on anything else. I didn’t look at made moon I checked arachnophobia didn’t see any movement there. I checked infinite light no movement there (though it’s hard to flip something that expensive).

Just sticking with the crossing if you look at around the 22 of august it does start selling pretty often. I don’t know though if you buy the crossing or any of the highend mf weapons do they automatically become accountbound/soulbound as soon as you receive them?

? This is a nerf to blind not a buff. Easy to test go to the mist lay down smoke screen have someone stand in it as long as they are in it (it pulses) they will be blind. Now you can’t perma blind someone with 1 ability.

No.. its a HUGE buff.

That change was implemented a while ago. Duration stacking caps are a thing in this game.

It already is semi implemented I believe with retaliation you can only stack it up to 5 times when you reach that you can’t get anymore stacks of retal(stacks duration) I havent really tested it tbh. I remember they did add that to the game a bit ago.

So my guess is that it will function the same

  • Life Force meter improvements:
  • Meter has been resized in order to properly display the entire bar. Previously about 10% of the bar was hidden.
  • The current Life Force value is now displayed on the bar.
  • The current and max Life Force is now displayed on the tooltip.
  • Spectral Armor: Increased the duration from 8 seconds to 9 seconds when traited with Spectral Attunement to match the intended duration increase.
  • Lingering Curses: This trait will no longer increase the duration of blind on the Deathly Swarm skill.
  • Target The Weak: This trait will now properly increase damage when the target has the torment condition.
  • Mark of Revival: Increased the base radius of the Reaper’s Mark created by this trait to 180 to be consistent with other marks.

How “hot” does an issue need to become BEFORE someone from Anet comes in here and answers questions that are this important?

It takes you far too long Anet to answer ANY burning question and there are now far too many.

I wouldnt call this “Hot” it’s 1 persons claim. If multiple people piled in here making the same exact claim with personal stories, screenshots and graphs then it would be hot.

I just looked at the graph

If you go to around the 17th of August there is around 16 available.

Supply dips to around 5 on the 24th of August.

Supply jumps back up to 20 on the 28th of August.

On the 31st of august it looks like 6 sold that day

Supply drops to 5 around the 1st.

Doesn’t look any have been relisted.

The blog post about economy changes came out on the 30th.

In that blog post they mention Magic find items and selection of stats with some high end items retaining their stats. So that could have been a reason why so many sold that day.

I don’t know if very many people will bother crafting ascended jewelery since you can already get ascended trinkets with laurels, commendations, fractal relics. Price of orbs might not increase as much as you might think unless the add craftable back pieces. Has legendary trinkets been confirmed?

Colin says it in the youtube linked in this thread. I think ascended trinkets would be popular for people with alot of alts and people that like alot different types of builds. When I want to try a new build I buy exotics I don’t buy rares. If ascended jewelry was available for gold I would buy those instead of exotics.

I make my ascended staff for my necro my bleed damage goes up 0 my burn damage goes up 0 my poison goes up 0. I don’t have direct damage on my necro.

Part of the appeal of WvW is that you can bring your gear into WvW. Why not just turn WvW into sPvP with amulets and your armor doesn’t matter at all? Some people would like that some wouldnt like that.

Now for my personal view, which is that of bleepin course wvw should be balanced!

IMO this is right at the heart of the discontent on these forums. Players want balanced, fair competition, and the developers just aren’t interested in providing it.

Your post is a alot of common sense issues that some people have with the game but you don’t offer any feedback or suggestions. You could name this thread “Things I don’t like about WvW” and it would be the same exact thing.

You say you feel it should be balanced you list basically issues that people have with the game but don’t offer anything as an idea. I could list stuff I want too and not offer any suggestions thats easy.

Devon never said the game was “Imbalanced” the forums as a whole can’t decide on what is balanced or whakittenshould be balanced around people just say X is OP or Y is broken.

In your list you bring up small man teams and roaming also larger groups, and also mention sieging etc. If you balance for small teams and roaming then unintended consequence will occur where something that is balanced around 5 people becomes extremely powerful when that number becomes 30 people.

I don’t think the devs are saying that WvW is suppose to be “broken” and that they don’t think about balance at all when it comes to WvW. What they have is a set of boundaries of what is “Acceptable” if they feel that something is outside of what is acceptable then they deal with it.

You mention T1 servers vs T5 servers but people said they where getting tired of stale matchups. So who is right and who is wrong?

TL&DR

There is no consensus on pretty much anything on these forums. If people like changes they usually won’t post to say thanks anet(though it happens sometimes) if they don’t like something then they post. The forums can’t be used as the only feedback for “balance”.

How to use Sup Rune of Tormenting?

I don’t know if there is one you can throw them in any of the standard necro builds but tainted shackles torment is already long. People dont really use any other heal except CC unless you are talking about PvE then you can get good use out of the heal proc.

Ascended Gear

I don’t think it is as big a deal as people make it out to be. If this was PvE sure you can make the claim against AI mobs that stand around that 6.6% is a big deal. Against people with brains it isn’t.

It really has no effect on anyone running a condition build. A condition builds main damage is usually condition if you go from exotic weapon to asended weapon none of your condition damage goes up at all not even 1 extra point on your bleed. When you look at it from a condition build stand point the 200g early adopter/rusher paid doesnt seem worth it to me.

For direct damage builds it is there but it’s not so big that you would question if the guy is in ascended or not. You get more stats from jewelry when I change builds up I grab exotics first if I am trying something new I don’t feel UP at all.

If this was not a active combat system with dodges etc and traditional style I could see it being a problem but in GW2 I don’t feel it really impacts a fight to where a person with more skill will lose because he doesn’t have ascended.

In PvE it is very OP.

In PvP its relative to your own skill, if you know what you do and how your class + the GS work (and you dont play these lame metabuilds!) then its OP, otherwise UP.

Does OP = Good? Is this OP like Overpowered needs to be adjusted and has no counterplay?

What should be done:

10 second cool down on 6/6 Or Replace with 25% Damage Increase

AND

Remove and replace the warrior Trait that gives 6 stacks of Confusion on Interrupt

Requesting a change to Tainted Shackles

Tainted shackles doesn’t feel like a spam move to me and I feel like it requires some thought on use.

Myself personally use it before a doom or if I am fighting a healing signet warrior or class with high mobility when I think they will try to escape.

I think the torment stacks are about right when you consider all the other condi’s necro’s can throw on you. P/D thieves really don’t have many condis at all but they have the best/most access to torment in the game and they can drop you quick if you aren’t paying attention to them stacking torment on you.

Someone bought around 400 of these but I can’t think for the life of me why. Cheaper crit damage? Everything I seen on zerk vs assassin points to it being still a slight advantage to zerker for most of the optimal dps dungeon builds. I suppose if you really want the cheaper crit damage it is a good choice I guess.

To get my level 400 to 500 artificer I have to spend ~200 gold??!!?!!??!?!

You did some internet searching to get that number(probably from threads and/or crafting site) but you didn’t do any research on your own? Then start spazing out in your post.

It’s like a 5% increase in damage so its like a superior sigil of force. If your a condition build it is still 5% increase your direct damage (which is probably nonexistant) and none of your condi’s will go up in damage.

If you’re an early adopter and a “I have to be one of the first” then you will spend alot of gold.

I usually rush to get things at the cost of price but as I was leveling up here and there I slowed down. You don’t really need to rush nobody will really be able to tell what your carrying since the effects on the weapons aren’t really noticeable.

Like someone else said you can make good amount of money off this stuff if you craft for profit. People are impatient I know someone that bought alot of the material to including the 43g dowel off the TP before he got to 500 where you unlock the ability to craft the 3 wood/ 3 ingot dowel yourself. I am contemplating selling my dowel when I get to 500 because 43g > 5% increase in damage.

TL&DR: There is no need to rush and spend 200g that 200g number is for people that want to rush and follow a guide that gets you there the fastest.

When you get to 500 crafting you can make some really good money off of it.

Lose money? You would have gained money if you read the Disequilibrium blog post that came out before these changes. People read the blog and went and bought mf gear at higher prices than they previously would so they could select stats and get stat combinations for cheap. If you had items that weren’t sold bound you where sitting on you miss out on some pretty good profit if you had put them on the TP when the BLOG post came out.

I think the idea is get rid of the inhouse people and announce all the changes publically for everyone at the same time on the public server. This puts everyone on an even playing field.

That’s more people with early access. At least inhouse people have the fear of being kicked off which is why this is all speculation that it is even occuring. If there was a PTR the situation would be worse now at least here people can point fingers at a select few and accuse if there was a PTR nobody would know who was doing what.

The people that have fingers pointed at them in this thread would be completely concealed because the player base would all point fingers at each other and not mystery people we dont even know about. Just because you have access to the PTR doesn’t give you alot of money. Anyone with a good amount of Gold and access to the PTR would be a fool to not log in to Live right away and set themselves up for success.

This doesn’t even have to be to increase the gold they have but to save what they have because they can buy all they need for cheap before the price will inevitably rise.

WvW Roamers

Mesmer’s 20/20/30 condi build that is stealth heavy are pretty good roamers it won’t kill everyone like guardians that are setup to deal with condi’s but you should be able to 1v2/1v3 players of lesser skill pretty easy. Mesmers are suppose to be getting some help dealing with condi’s so depending on what that is they will be getting a bit better for roaming also.

Warriors with GS + X/Shield are also good at roaming.

Those I consider the top roaming classes in WvW and all my classes can roam with my necro being the weakest roamer. Thief is the best and I would say Mesmer and Warrior with warrior second because the OOC mobility is probably the best in game if there was no stealth. Mesmer you just have to be able to recognize when it’s time to disengage.

Guardian in Small Group Roaming

When your thief friend goes invis you will get all the focus fire. When people see its a guardian and a thief they will probably give you most of the pressure.

I don’t have a guardian but I believe the popular roaming spec for guardian is healway build. As long as you are beefy enough you should be ok.

I would recommend grabbing the new Runes of the Traveler with its always on +25% movement speed. Unless there is another way for you to get perma swiftness then go with that.

I like to GvG but I understand why their is hostility but the hostility has more to do with the people that feel as if they are doing sit-ins on Anets stream and spam GvG like they are protesting Wall Street. That is where there is some hostility toward GvG.

Both sides have valid arguments but in the end WvW is about PPT and will be even more so when they introduce leagues. It’s like joining tPvP and your intent is to go up in rank but you have 2 or 3 people that go off to the side and 1v1 each other.

Cause Zergs run with no Guardians passively handing off aegis and they will just let the warriors run up and not melt them. Then inb4 you just need 8 mesmers to stealth the warriors and necro’s.

Styles list is a bit more reasonable in regards to ZvZ and GvG and as he stated in no particular order. Really he has 2 classes that aren’t in both that is thief and ranger which I agree on in a Zerg fight thief and ranger’s impact doesn’t seem as important.

wvw is dominated by 4 classes atm and the list for groupfights(not roaming, as roaming is more like spvp and thats where anet screws up, because they mainly raom when testing out wvw):

There are so many things you can do in WvW your list holds no weight because it is automatically becomes incorrect as soon as you start naming specific activities that occur daily in WvW.

Taking Keeps and Towers
Karma Train
Small Man group roaming(not looking for objectives just fights)
Small Man roaming flipping camps

Your list doesn’t align up with any of those correctly with those activities that take place everyday in WvW.

Your still upset about the perplexity runes it seems. Mesmers are going to get some help dealing with condis and you put them in C class after patch? Get real.

What I gathered from the talk is that sPvP will see some changes with Necro stacking bleeds the deathly grasp change in this patch was a change and they said they want to monitor how it goes. It sounds like Necro will see some slight changes on the October patch but not to much. It sounds like most of the changes that will be coming won’t affect Necro in WvW or PvE at all as Chap said that the relies on those things in WvW an PvE in order to kill things.

The things I picked up about other classes is that they feel that Warrior is fine but they will still keep watching it a bit more before they make some changes. Mesmer will be getting a some help in dealing with conditions but not to much because by design that is suppose to be a Mesmer weakness.

Also Rune and Sigil rework coming to remove some of the RNG factor from them. My guess is Rune of Perplexity was that first step toward that why it is so different than most runes out there but that is just my theory.

There is no one in this game who I can’t kill. Can I lose 1 on 1’s? Sure. But, everyone is killable as a condi necro. I really don’t know what rotations you are doing nemesis because you are a smart guy, but you sound like you are getting beat up and helpless in these posts, bud. If you want to win, bring your signet of spite.

I think Nemesis is talking more about certain classes ability to escape a necro where as the Necro doesn’t have that ability. It is by design for necro to not be very mobile and lock you into combat when they are in range but certain classes can still disengage at will.

Ascended weapons worth it?

The increased weapon damage is more of what you are after on Ascended weapons. That will play a bigger part than the stats boost.

This is what you really want to look at is the weapon damage. For condi builds it doesn’t affect your condition damage.

No need to rush really and I am a min/maxer but I can hold off spending more gold than I need to if I just am patient.

Dire Stat Combination

I am wondering if I should stick with sigil of earth presently. I am full dire now except 1 accessory so my crit chance is 22% if I go with another dire accessory (which I will be able to get saturday) my crit chance should end up at 21%. I feel like with fury in DS this is sufficient for dhuumfire procs but not sure abou sigil of earth.

Ok 140~ if on normal cond runes and around 290~ on transition if used to full effect, happy? You still get the 10% cond duration, 10% boon duration and the 25% movement speed, if the person doesnt already have a set of runes they like (i use 3 mk 3 lyssa for example or scav runes on my other set) going with travelers is a great choice and no youd have to lose around 450 points of a minior stat to make up for a free utility slot (or said 250 that you do if only making up for a trait).
Not to rip on the condition damage stat, but its way weaker than people think (same with crit chance), in little parts trading it for small boosts in other stats is in general worth it (just for example, Bloodlust does more on both a hybrid and a condition damage build unless you start fully stacked for quite a long time; like 8 minutes).

I am with Andele on this one. I know mathematically it is a DPS loss but in WvW (the mode I play the most) I find Traveler awesome. I tend to look at other classes for example when thinking about builds for one of my characters. I know Trap Rangers usually tend to roll full dwayna runes and apothecary but can still be a pain to deal with and there bleeds don’t tick anywhere near my necros bleed damage.

Condition damage scales like crap except burning and +25% movement speed is really good when you can apply chill and then epi (if more than 1) giving them -66% movement speed or – 50% with cripple. That gives a pretty large advantage.

In the end it is personal preference and what you value.

I personally value the movement speed and the +10% condition duration is nice and gives me 80% overall. The boon duration gives me 1 extra second on on spectral armor, 2 extra seconds on Reaper’s Might, and 4 1/2 seconds on spectral walk. So there is value in the boon duration also.

Some people prefer damage which is also fine given different scenario’s (WvW) both would have their strength and weakness there is no clear cut winner.

Ouch! I don’t know what they where thinking with that one make it 10 seconds and it would be more appealing.

The Sigil and Rune designers are so hit and miss lately it can’t be the same people doing all the Runes/Sigils. Whoever is designing them now though is better than the launch people.

@Bhawb yea that is what I am thinking also. I know ranger (spirit) got a nerf this last patch but they are suppose to be “shaved more in the next patch” (according to Chap). My guildie mentioned Warriors have some incoming nerfs also my guess it will be in regards to Skull Crack specifically not so much as the rest of the maces CC. Also a fix on sigil of paralyzation so that it actually applies the correct stun bonus.
