There is no cake.
That’s okay, I like pie better.
Happy New Year! Here’s to hoping for a new meta w/ new Elite Specs before 2018!
What?? Why are we talking about builds lol… I asked which server will be best for finding fights..
You asked for zerg-busting, not zerging. Those are two very different things, and the former depends heavily on the meta. Right now, there is no countering the existing meta with fewer players pretty much regardless of how good you actually are. The professions have been changed in ways where zerg-busting (a build-dependent area of the game) no longer exists, because there’s currently no way to shut down larger groups of players without just having more numbers, because the dominant builds do not have any means of getting shut down.
That still was never requested nor brought up. And self supportive teams can still take down larger groups, ZEN on eu I think has some good vids up. Heck me and 2 of my friends mesing around contested an ebg keep and sat on the spawn killing them as they rolled in until around 12-14 guys had showed up. Was fun, messing around in completely off the meta builds but people who know how to play together are still stronger.
I gave an answer and got criticized for saying none because the game-state doesn’t allow for what the OP wants right now. Would you lie or give a bad answer to someone who came in asking about a frontline-one-push thief build for T1 zerg fights rather than saying there is none?
Killing 14 unorganized pugs (probably with blob-oriented builds) at spawn is not zerg busting. A zerg these days pushes closer to 30-50 in most tiers in NA.
10v25 with roaming builds count as a Zerg bust? Or just great outmanned?
Open season. Some bags are harder to get then others. All of them can be gotten tho.
I’ve found I’ve stopped worrying about theives/Mesmer. They come to try and burst, counter burst, they run away at an uncachable speed, I go on my way until they come back and I finally get off a killshot.
Sword 3 is supposed to destroy projectiles, but when a warrior uses block reflects, I’m getting hit by my own projectiles. Is this bugged or by design?
When you use Hinters Ward and the target doesn’t have stability, you are going to get more pressure out of symbol+auto attack on that target as they are trapped in the ring. You used deflecting shot a few times and that let them run to far. Only thing I noticed, other than that GZ on legendary!
Love the idea, but I do take issue with the banners. While I see how they could fit, I feel that something like mantras would be more thematic (concentrated bursts of whatever energy guardians channel). Just my 2 cents
Nope just punishing. You already had your chance to dodge the tether. Now your options are to break it or stab it which is pretty forgiving. Skills that bind will hit anyways to promote good gameplay. You don’t get 2 chances to dodge the same skill. If you fail you counterplay it or accept it.
Actually to dodge it requires either lucky dodge spam or Jedi senses at a 1/4 second cast time with literally zero tell.
This means if you are semi competent and do not currently have a diagnosed mental handicap you should land 90% of your Spear of Justices on a DH.
That is a problem and needs proper balancing from Anet. Look for DH nerfs on skill floors at the next balance patch with a target on Spear of Justice
A few things about this. First, it’s not broken, I dodge spear of justice very often because of the travel time. It’s like dodging abnormal projectile. I duel plenty of skilled people who will dodge spear of justice.
Also, the pull is double the CD of the throw, meaning one in every 2 throws, if they keep throwing it) will be pullable.
You can outflank them by using any sort of teleport skill to go to the side or behind, which often causes a throw away. This is most common vs thieves and Mesmer, though I’ve fought necrosis (when teleport) and other DH who do this proficiently.
Finally, if you are a stealth class, they can’t throw it at you when you are stealthier, and you can kite and position very well around a DH with stealth.
Overall: a 35 second cooldown dodgeable projectile Pull is not OP… it’s basically a 2 part scorpion wire/necrotic grasp (which both have shorter cooldowns). You don’t see people complaining about those, do you?
Does replenishing despair activate per condition, or per stack of condition?
Few new ideas, partially inspired by the first idea in the first post:
Core revenant
- Revenants can now equip 3 legends. Each legend has now its own skill button: F1, F2, and F3. This should help alleviate slot skill variety problems without breaking the theme of the profession.
- Energy management is gone, replaced exclusively by cooldowns. Skills that consumed energy over time, like Vengeful Hammers and Impossible Odds, now have a fixed duration, and have no benefits for ending early.
- New core legend, ritualist. Signet skills inspired by GW1 spirits, which work like turrets, with support in mind. The healing skill summons the spirits to your position, healing for each active spirit, and the other four skills summon a series of spirits with different abilities.
- Ventari’s Tablet mechanic is gone, to return later in a pet-based elite specialization. Now Ventari uses player-casted ground-targeted skills. Instead of ordering the table to move, you now throw tiny carved bones, seeds, and runestones. Their effects are the same or similar as those of the original skills.
- Mallyx’s Embrace the Darkness now additionally slowly spreads conditions to nearby enemies when activated, providing additional condition cleansing to the revenant.
- New weapons at the core profession are desirable, but not mandatory in the short term.
Herald
- Since we no longer have neither energy nor upkeep, and it’s not worth adding back for just the facets, we need a new system.
- A possible solution is letting heralds activate any of the facets they want whenever they want, even the six simultaneously. The downside would be that the more facets you activate, the slower you spread boons, so having the six up isn’t really worth it.
- Face of Nature is now exclusive to Glint. The other legends have each new different skills, all of them working like facets, including themed aesthetic marks in the ground.
I think this solution could really work out, and it doesn’t require as many changes as other ones around. Yeah, still requires work, but it’s doable and leaves a solid foundation for future elite specializations.
I love the idea of tree legends! Would add variety and basically make us a utility version of Ele.
I would love if weapon skills were also tied to the legend (I.e. Jalis hammer could be ranged, shirk hammer melee, Centauri hammer heal focused, etc.). I would personally be okay losing weapon swap in exchange for 3 legends+changing weapon skills
I think that having both cool downs and energy to manage skills is obsessive. I feel a good way to do it is cool downs on 1-6 (weapon skills+heals) and an energy bar for the utilities. Have utilities maybe cost slightly more and this allows for facets to still be in play with the glint espec.
I think these are slighter changes that could realistically happen.
Have you ever seen a dog dodge out of a leash?
Higher tier people know how to deal with a single condition. burn dh is a mere gimmick build at that level.
This is how I see it
Basically this. I was in plat 2 for a while (before a series of unfortunate games when I refused to just give it a break until the next day), and condition builds that lacked cover conditions are too easily mitigated if the other player knows what they are doing.
Just call target on the ranger so you can switch back when the pet taunts you. You should be keeping track of both the ranger and the rangers pet anyways, with the heavy DPS smokescale and bristleback put out.
I wish traps gave either quickness or immobilize or a specific effect per trap. I really like quickness.
If it is a condition based on trap, I would go:
Purification: Chill
ToF: vulnerability
Procession of Blades: immobilize
Lights Judgement: weakness
Fragments of Faith: cripple
1. Traps are only useful if you walk into them. Learn to dodge/block since they don’t faze anymore
2. Traps were nerfed and bad DHs suck
3. There are more broken builds such as PI thief
4. “Gwaihir.1745:
Low skill beats low skill players. I see no problem here that’s life.”
Pro Tip: Don’t stand in the red circles.
Dodge spam is lame but not terrible in light of the current state of the game. The thing that upsets me is Pulmonary Impact. I will face thieves who do nothing but dodge than try to interrupt. When playing classes like Ele or Reaper (power reaper) it is literally impossible to kill them because everything is a channel, so they just have to kite and interrupt. Yea, bad thieves are still bad, but an okay thief who plays like this can be near impossible to kill… especially when you dont have excessive stability or dodges. Even if you do damage them and/or outplay them, theyre gone faster than a toupe in a hurricane…
FIRST: MAKE GLANCING BLOWS COUNT AS MITIGATION BUT APPLY HALF THE EFFECT
With ele starting at extremly low health and toughness, I think it would be cool to give the sword 250-300 range on auto attack. (may be considered OP though )
Attacks should give an elemental theme to your sword (like a flame slash for the flame AA, or an icy slash for water AA)
Weapon Skills:
Auto Attacks should be a 3 part chain with applying some sort of condition on the final hit (or final 2 hits).
Something like:
Fire AA 3: Burning Thrust: Finish with a thrust of your sword that causes a firey explosion —- range: 300, 5 targets, applies 2 stacks of burn
Air AA 3: Weakening Slam: Slam your sword down on your target, if you hit your target, cause an explosion that weakens enemies —- range: 150, explosion radius: 150, explosion targets: 5, applies weakness if it hits
Earth AA 3: Rocky Cleave: Cleave your enemy with an earth amplified sword —- range: 300, targets: 3, applies cripple
Water AA 3: Snow Burst: Thrust your sword unleashing a burst of snow on your enemy —- range 300, targets: 5, applies chill and 2 stacks of vulnerability to enemies
Burn Ward: Should be longer (2-3 seconds) and should do direct damage too (.25 or .5 sec icd per target)
Flip Attack: add a 600 range teleport to the skill (helps with mobility) or a daze (.5 sec) for interrupt
Dust Strike: Range increase to 300, add blind
Spiked revenge: End in an explosion that deals large damage and roots foes (radius 150 or 200)
Snow Glave: Adds blind or chill and maybe increase to 3 projectiles
Ice Block: increase duration (2-3 seconds) heal per attack evaded.
Utilities:
I personally favor mantras for a new Espec over Stances.
Traits:
Blade Training: Add Sword attacks apply weakness when in a burst mode
Selfless Sentinel is a little under-powered for a grand-master, unless you mean you absorb all of their attacks for 5 seconds. In which case, you would get rekt if you are trying to mitigate a burst.
I would make it something more like:
When swapping attunements, grant nearby allies a buff for 5 seconds that reduces incoming damage by 75% and transfers incoming conditions to yourself,
When exactly does the season 5 update release tomorrow? Will it be midnight, literally as the day starts?
I recently purchased a new computer that runs windows 10. After downloading Gw2, I went to run it and get an error message saying “Guild Wars 2 Client has stopped working”. I looked up solutions to this problem and for a lot of people it seemed to only be in the earlier stages of windows 10. I tried reinstalling Gw2 and repairing the files like those older threads said, but none of it worked. Anyone know what I can do?
Just farm SW for an hour, get 25 gold, buy a stack, grind jo for an hour. Than SE, than Jp. Avoids burnout, and great production output.
Open them. All kinds of beneficial things from those
But she…wait, EB is fun now?! WHAT?!
EB has become my new home
New maps are fun if you have an organized group, and the enemy has an organized group.
Yea, reaper can be unstoppable if you know how to keep up pressure on the tank meta. I wouldn’t use shouts personally, but I know a few builds that use them well.
For mobility use shroud 2.
Well, I heal on reaper 1, and reaper 3 pulses stability, which heals me. So I guess that’s kinda life steal…just bask be trained. Eh, it’s good enough for me, I love reaper
Like Peixe said for condi, it’s tough. However, power builds make fairly quick work of eles (at least for me). Using boon strips or condo transfers are usually good because soft CC is the death of an ele.
Protip: don’t run trough the fire lines, they kill u…unless ur gonna transfer it.
I don’t run cele with that build…and I don’t use the healing signet because I don’t think it’s even close to other heals…
I also use different traits that the meta… So I really don’t run this build I guess. People still whine that I’m running cele on a knights build…
OMG! DEV POST ON THIEF FORUMS, TAKE A PICTURE AND RECORD IT IN THE HISTORY BOOKS!
P.s. Love the daredevil <3
Just want to point out something, the venom fields are a great idea but I am confused as to what this combo field effect will be given to. I wasn’t there because I still am on hiatus but I am wondering if its part of Venomous Aura or part of the venoms themselves.
I helped with this idea yolo. Basically it creates a combo field (fire, water, etc.) in an AoE at your feet. Depending on the venom, this combo field also pulses the venomous effect on players in the area.
I don’t remember if it required venomous aura or not though, u gotta ask chris
Yussss, teef is finally posting our SoT discussion
Sry I haven’t been on teef, my computer broke
Blood Reckoning : This heal works on your condition damage as well
http://dulfy.net/2015/08/21/gw2-berserker-warrior-elite-specialization-livestream-notes/
Ermagerd….time to burn the world
Awesome Roy! That’s part of why I love my thief so much
I’ll give you a counter to berserker:
Hybrid builds.
What I’ve found is that burst builds v warriors are susceptible to a warriors burst. Condition builds usually can’t stack quite enough conditions to DPS them down fast enough because of the multiple cleanses they have now (if the Condi player is good enough they wi eventually kill the war, but it will take a while).
Hybrid builds, however, usually can out heal warrior, and usually deals eniugh damage in both fronts to overwhelm the warrior pretty quickly
So hybrid rev ftw
All elite specializations are supposed to get skill types that exist. They are similar to spectral skills, but renamed aptly. This is similar to how mesmer got wells, necro got shouts, etc.
Warriors don’t have spectral, so it’s new
Warrior is better for commanding than guardian imo because of the higher health pool, more Self-sustain when built right, and has higher in combat mobility. As a non-commander heavy, I would say guardian is more useful, but even then they are about even and just have different roles. You can play guardian just as well for commanding, but warrior is going to be easier.
Build:
Full PTV armor w/ melandru runes or dolyak runes (I like doly runes )
Cleric weapons with digits of water and bloodlust/energy
3 cleric trinkets, 2 ptv trinkets.
Utilities:
Shout heal
Shake it off
This one is optional:
• Shout with might
• Endure pain or stability stance
Dolyak signet is a must
Battle standard
Traits:
Necessary:
Shouts heal
Dogged March
I’m at work and a bit busy sorry for hasty guide but I know the frustration when people just say “whatever you feel like”
So warrior>guardian for COMMANDING ONLY!!! Situational uses otherwise
I disagree, I think sword is a good weapon for Condi, but I use it for a power build, and it is very good on a power build
I like the heal, it looks like it could be a fun and useful replacement to healing signet. I haven’t looked at the traits, but if there is a cd reduction trait for rage, this heal will be VERY solid (probably better than healing signet)
I don’t think it’s full Condi. It has a lot of burn access, but short duration. The skills have some good damage to them, and I really like all of the stuff I’ve seen…may make me want to play warrior over revenant it looks so entertaining
I like it, the sword F1 is finally looking better! I like the whole berserker concept and this finally looks like a chance to use my favorite weapon (sword mainhand) F1 skill for something other than a setup skill that I cancel. <3 Anet

The BIGGEST issue I have with this trait is the set absorbtion rate. Things like thief pistol 4 are barely a cc, and can be spammed easily. It should be based on the strength of the daze/stun, otherwise there will be too much risk, and will ony be useable vs some classes you know can’t cc u
They’ll add in Ventari and Jalis legends to take care of the tanky healers. There’s not really any need for trident.
It’s worth pointing out that Roy has constantly said “some” of the Legends will get converted to underwater, not all. I think out of them all the one we’re least likely to see is Ventari as its current design simply doesn’t work under water
Or Venturi is arguably the best underwater since t already features a dome based concept and they basically need to fill in the other half of the dome…and make the tablet placement on self instead of AoE
I agree mace could use better coefficients, but when I was playing full cele Jalis/Mallyx (glint wasn’t out), and the torment was destroying people, as well as some decent damage. Even with fairly low coefficients, I was getting 800-900 crits on AA, and the 2/3 skills were 2kish crits. Than ace did very good damage
Mace/axe is my favorite weapon set, and staff is my next favorite. Very good combination
Hooefully not too long, I’m dieing to play revenant!
Well Roy just said on twitter that Glint is not about condi cleanse (no words about resistance yet, but I don’t think she’ll get it). Guess that Glint+Shiro will be high risk, while Glint+anything else will be viable.
Glint/shiro is really fun. My current favorite setup is sword/shield, hammer, glint, shiro. Seeing all the skills, traits, etc in game tomorrow will give you a much better idea of everything.
Oh I’m sure it’s fun. I was hoping to use that same exact combo, legends and weapons (shield, sword and hammer are my favourite types, regardless of the class), but even pve without condi cleanse is a mess, not to mention pvp and wvw.
Well, you said nothing about resistanceI’m pretty confident you’ll do a good job. Good luck for tomorrow man, I’ll be on twitch chat all the time rooting for Herald
It actually works really well in all 3 game modes.
There are a lot of cool builds you can do with glint though.
I was already hyped for the glint spec…now we have Roy posting, and the skills are just sounding cooler! OMFGWTFTHIKM!!!
When did this happen and who are those people? I usually just log on and kill everything that’s red…what am I missing?
