Right now I have 59 times of knowledge. I’m hoping to have 80 by the release of the revenant so I can be level 80 afap (as fast as possible). I miss the good ole days when I was pioneering build on my thief. Looking forward to it

I got an idea! We should get a signet that allows parry. Parry should be a new mechanic acess able to only thieves. How it works:
Every 3rd hit you take is 25% damage and non critical. When parrying an attack, you deal 300 range damage on up to 5 foes in front of you. Gives a bit of extra dps and sustain out of stealth
On use, knockback foes with a 160 radius, and gain stability & protection for 5 seconds

Just an idea for a weapon we may be getting. This is not based on any facts, just something I think could be implemented. It could work for sword or mace if you tweak a few words (change blade to club and sword to mace). Thought you guys would enjoy some more ideas
Sword:
Fire:
1.
A. Fire lash: Lash out with your sword aided by the power of fire. Range: 450 Cast time: .1 second Enemies hit: 5
B. Burning edge: Bring your enhanced sword backdown on your foes. Range: 450 Cast time: .1 second. Enemies hit: 5
C. Impact: Deliver a powerful uppercut with your sword, causing an explosion on impact and blinding nearby enemies. Range: 450. Cast time: .2 seconds. Enemies hit: 5

2.
A. Fire Leash: extend a tendril of fire out towards your foe, teathering them with fire and burning them every second they are teathered. Range: 900 Cast time: .5 seconds. Enemies hit:1. Teather duration: 3 seconds

Secondary Profession Speculation

I would love the ele specialization to be in battle magic and we are able to use more power-based weapons (I.e. sword and shield). These would use ~600 range and attack fairly quickly with high mobility and a few high bursts that comes through 1-3 high base power attacks.
If we get a second option, there should also be high magic which gives us the ability to do extremly high damage skills at a slower attack speed with more range. Maybe get a bow or mace. If we could use off hand weapons as mainlands, I think a mainland focus for this slot would be cool. This would also have several high group support through blast finishers (similar to staff but more versatile)

Rangers are usually free kills. Always aim them first and get chill on them. A good Condi ranger or evade ranger can be annoying, but usually manageable. I have fought maybe 2 rangers I cant kill. Never underestimate the use of chill against a ranger. When in doubt, chill them. They rely on being able to use their skills often. When they can they have just basic attack, so they are dead

That’s pretty nice, I just wonder if it will be like the sneak event for 1 week, or if you have to do what some games do and have it be a completely seperate deal (sometimes even have to make a new character)
I would hope it is like the sneak attack, as that would be the most entertaining, but I’m not Anet so I don’t know

I wouldn’t say every big patch, but it would be nice if we get some new stuff every 6 months. I’m not talking anything big, just little things to play around with and figure out how to implement into the gameplay. they are coming out with a new map, which I am very happy with. I mean 6 months later, maybe they give us reward tracks, or a way to get skill points through WvW. Than 6 months later maybe we get a few new types of siege. Than 6 months later, maybe something else.
I wouldn’t be opposed to stuff coming out at a faster rate, but 6 months seems like something reasonable, not that this really matters, just what I would personally like

Expansion and Population Balance

Population is fine. If you feel like no one is on, it’s because there
A) isn’t a tag and ur a zergling, so stop complaining and learn how to do things in small group or solo (probably not anyone on the forums, but still worth pointing out)
B) you need to learn to be the leader. Tagging up isn’t bad if you want to get people together to do something progressive. I garuntee that people just like you are on the map.
Sometimes it only takes one person to change a server

Fixing the ppt would be nice but I have noticed it has been a bit more accurate after the last 2 patches. May be something that is getting fixed slowly, or just a coincidence

Holding wvw objectives MORE important?

Well…and this is all speculation…if “defending” is more important, one way to make it so, is to have all siege in a keep/tower/garri available regardless of who built it. For instance, if we get in and take SM that was fortified, it stays fortified. All cannons/mortars and any player-built siege INSIDE the walls now become usable by us. Making it VERY important to defend..and have people destroy siege once another server caps

I think this is a good idea, but without the upgrades. What I think should happen is that defensive siege is universal, meaning ballistas and arrow carts are usable by any server when they are built. This prevents people from taking towers with enemy siege, but being rewarded for taking a structure that was defended. If an enemy is ON the siege, you can destroy it, and siege hitting siege that is manned by an enemy should be destroyable.
It would be really cool if they made it so siege placed by an enemy inside of a tower is enemy until the tower is flipped, than it becomes friendly, so whenever a keep or tower flips, all siege inside of it becomes neutral for 5 minutes, than after 5 minutes, it becomes the side of the tower. This way, you can make the choice of whether or not you wish to clear siege on the walls, or go straight for lord so you have the siege for later.
Obviously the second idea is a bit more complicated, but it would be pretty great imo. If not, I think my first idea is pretty good.

During the day, map is empty except main keep. So when I see the devs saying you need to hold this and that, you gonna activate whatever gimmick… WITH WHO?

You see, this is what I’m talking about the problem is with “population imbalance”. The world is made of three types of people:
1) The people who complain that things aren’t getting done
2) The people who’s get the kitten done
3) And the people who don’t give a kitten
90% of the players in WvW are either 1s or 3s. And this than divides servers. The servers who have the most 2s will get a lot of kitten done because a 2 looks at a situation and doesn’t quit until they are victorious.
Let me give u a scenario: say Kaineng is faced up against a server that has so much coverage an numbers, they spawn camp is LITERALLY everywhere. I’m talking Zergs at all 3 exits of every spawn on every map. I’m just gonna try to kill as many of those noobs as I can before I die, and I will keep doing it until they get tired of killing me or I kill all of them. This never happens, and I am a bit of an extremist.
So how does this solve your problem?
Hold the thing YOURSELF, activate the thing-a-mabober YOURSELF! Obviously there isn’t no one on the map of you are there. Last time I checked, if you actually bother to log on, you are considered a player. That is the point im trying to make. Don’t be so caught up in your zerg that you forget how to think for your self. I don’t give a kitten what rank you are or how many kills you have if you have done all of that through zerging. If you can’t defend something by yourself, you aren’t a REAL wvwer. Quite honestly, I dint believe you can call yourself a evert until you can solo a tower, and if you sit in a zerg all of your time in WvW, you probably can’t.
Moral of the rant:
Stop moping, grow a pair, and get the kitten done YOURSELF!

The problem is that I don’t play an MMO to play by myself. I want to play with other people. That’s where the fun is.

I do things solo like scout or take a camp sometimes. But that’s not really fun. The fun comes with playing with others. And if there’s a lack of people online then you can’t do that. And too many servers have a lack of people.

I do think that there is a lack of leadership in WvW. (Perhaps that’s what you’re saying between the lines.) But leading is hard.

I am amazed at what I’ve seen in terms of human psychology and sociology here in GW2. The presence of one good leader can make all the difference. That leader goes and poof – everyone else evaporates. Pretty interesting to watch. But I digress.

Spiritus’ point is valid even if he didn’t say it well. A new map will not fix the underlying issues of WvW. Population/Coverage Imbalance being the main one.

You make a valid point. If someone does not enjoy solo play than it is difficult. What you said about a single leader being charismatic is very true. There are those few people who, when you see them, are always doing something entertaining.
This is a fair enough argument that I cannot dispute because it is all a matter of your opinion. I can only say that tagging up helps to gather people, being in several WvW guilds helps you to find people to roam with, and music makes solo roaming much more entertaining

I think of you are all taking this out of proportion…you have seen 1 picture of the map, which looks pretty sweet to me. You think because they are on a cliff that the map is all cliffs, but are there not cliffs by garrison? What about hills? There are plenty of cliffs in current WvW, but all of you negate that because the terrain coloring is the same as EOTM.
I understand some of you just look for ways to be bitter, but if this map didnt come out and nothing happened, I garuntee ur list of what Anet hasn’t done would include no new maps. So kitten and enjoy something for the first time in your life.

I am personally stoked. I love defending on low tier server because you get great outnumbered fights, and everybody know you were defending it! The problem at low tiers isn’t population imbalance per say. We on Kaineng are holding our own against FC and DR who have nearly 4x the numbers of the largest zerg we have. That’s why we don’t zerg often. Yes, our havocs will sometimes accumulate pugs and grow to be MAYBE 10 people. But when the kitten hits the fan, it is the core 5 people who end up killing the 10-15 man group. We are capable of fighting outmanned. That is the real reason many servers give up. They look at the enmy force an think “oh kitten, we’re gonna die” and they run of let themselves get wiped. If u look at downing 10 in a 49 man group when u only have 5 people as a victory, it is much more rewarding.
So yes, I think the new map is a good thing. You need to stop looking at it as we want more. We don’t even have the new map yet. Be content for now, ask for more later

I have a thing or two to say about this. First off, I have played WvW since launch. It is a fantastic game mode that, I acknowledge, has not had enough attention compared to PvE, but that is understandable since most of the gw2 population plays PvE. I anticipated a new map being released as soon as it was verified as an expansion. Now that WvW is finally getting something, all you are doing is looking BACKWARDS a at what didn’t happen months ago instead of being excited that now we have had two major WvW patches (sneak attack, even though some of you complain this didnt show any effort, and the newly announced map).
Now, I understand your frustration, but it should not lead to you making inaccurate assumptions about the work of the devs on this map. Yes, some of the changes implemented in WvW have been unpopular, but many of the major ones have been indisputably beneficial to the game (WvW points is the main one im thinking of). As the dev said, there haven’t even been pictures released of the map. You are simply assuming that they will make it like EOTM, which it was explicitly stated would not happen (in the PAX). They are trying to implement newer ideas, which I personally think sound awesome, and you should be happy that something is being done rather than nothing.
Also, I’m fairly sure that this map is going to be a borderland map (my interpretation of what I have read on it, correct me if I’m wrong). This means it can’t be thrown away to Ktrainers because dedicated WvW players care about home and enemy BLs. (Again, I couldn’t watch the PAX so I may be mistaken on the way this map is being implemented. If so, someone please correct me)
Finally, I would like to say thank you thank you to Anet for implementing a new map in the upcoming expansion, even though a release date would be much appreciated ????. I am personally very excited about this new map

I have a rage story im sure all of you will love
So one day I was taking my daily head count in my favorite spot: Windmill below South Camp. I was counting all the beautiful charr heads and hides I had collected, when all of the sudden a necromancer and a warrior start walking towards me! I am usually alone because no one really likes running with a thief who takes all the heads for himself
Anyways, I was so excited to have some company, until the warrior hits me with two arrows straight in the chest! You could imagine my shock! Than the necromancer points his mangled finger at me, and I know it is time for me to get some more heads for my collection. So, I proceed to properly obliterate the two fiends, properly collecting their heads with the magic spike that flies out of the sky. I think to myself, “how nice, now I have another charr head and this human’s beautiful sword! What a lovely addition!”. However, the necromancer’s head starts to talk to me. I was positively frightened and shot it a few more times, thinking that should properly put an end to it, but it kept talking! It said it had other bodies it could easily kill me with! Obviously I told it that nothing could kill me for I was immortal! But, this foolish little necromancer continues to come back to the windmill as a mesmer, guardian, and thief. He claims that it is because my pistol’s 45 caliber hollow point bullets are to powerful for his meager little human body to withstand, and says I should use a weapon that requires skill to utilize to best a foe. This was fairly offending, so I take my big bad dagger out of my back pack and i carve him into itty bitty pieces. But this isn’t enough! The death only fueled the necromancer’s passion! He began to taunt me with talk of my inferiority. This really got my blood boiling, so I took out my pistol and shot his mouth shut. That was the last I heard of that necromancer and his little warrior buddy. I did see them the next day at the local Bluevale, not sure what they were doing, but they ran away as soon as I tried to say high to them
All I want are some friends to share in all of the kills I have, but no one likes the big bad thieves

I, from Kaineng, really enjoyed the fights we had with you guys. (We is the SIN guild ). A mega server is the worst idea that has emerged on this forum. No offense to those who proposed it, but it is usually propelled by people from higher tiers who think that high tier roaning/zerging is the only way to enjoy the game. Let me tell you, I have played all play styles of WvW on tier 1,3,5, & 7/8, and t7/8 is the most entertaining and most unique. on average, the skill level of low tiers is higher because everyone is a roamer. The Zergs are generally a lower skill level player group that have numbers, leading to some very interesting and entertaining fights (not all Zergs have low skill average, just most of the pug ones, and a few of the guild groups)

I have played/roamed in t1,3,5, and now 7/8. On average, the rosters are better in t 7/8, but the BEST roamers I have seen are t3, but most people on t3 aren’t that great. I really like it down at t7/8, as the smaller ther pup the higher the skill, and the later the group, the less skill the individual has (usually, there are exceptions). This means small groups can have very fun fights against larger groups, and good fights against groups of the same size. Every so often, you will rofl stomp someone, but it is usually just the difference between great and good roamers.

I started back up on my d/d ele and have very little trouble. I run Knights armor with celestial trinkets, and the usual runes/sigils. Really have littler problems. Yes, it is predictable, that’s why I don’t do normal rotations. Usually people go air→fire→earth/water→earth/water. I don’t. I tend to open using air 4 and just lightning whipping them. Than water to chill the (chill so OP) and unload w/fire. Idealistically, haven’t used lightning flash, so I pop armor of earth, and use churning earth to rofl stomp them. I’m not that experienced, so maybe that is what most people do, but whatever.

I’m simply stating across all game modes that this change would make sense to provide more sustain for the class intended to have high sustain through the Virtues. In both WvW and PvE this change would benefit the class and not extremly out balance it IMO. You are looking at this from strictly a dungeon perspective, but I look at the game through all game modes because I play all game modes with most of my focus lying in WvW.

This thread is more of a question of the balance between warrior and Guardian defensively.
Let’s just look at the base layout:

Warrior:
Highest base toughness in the game
Highest base health in the game
High base regen available through healing signet

Guardian:
Lowest base health in the game
Highest base toughness in the game
Decent regen offered through Resolve

I think something is a bit off. Let’s compare their passive healing:
Resolve:

Untraited: 84 hps, .06 of healing power (according to the Wiki)

Traited (Absolute Resolution): 105 Hps, .06 of healing power (according to the Wiki)
With 1000 Healing power:
(1000*.06)84 or 105=
60
84 or 105=
144 or 165 Hps

Healing Signet:
362 Hps, .05 of healing power (according to the Wiki)

With 1000 healing power:
(1000*.05)362=
50
362=
412 Hps

Looking at passive regen from just healing signet, warrior wins hands down. HOWEVER, Anet claims that “Through Resolve, guardians passively regenerate health, allowing them to wade into the most dangerous situation and come out alive.” (Anet Guardian description page). 83 health per second barely mitigates anything. I can heal for more passively on my ele using Signet of Restoration.

My point is that the Warrior has high health, toughness, and the highest regen in the game. I feel this should be balanced in the following way:
Resolve:

Untraited:
320 Hps, 0.1% of healing power

Traited:
(Absolute resolution increases heal effectiveness of Resolve by 25%)
320*.25=

Also, the healing signet should have its healing reduced to 250 Hps with the same .05% of healing power.
This isn’t even considering Adrenaline Healing.
I know a lot of the warrior players will find this irrational, but taking into consideration the high health and toughness along with incredible damage possibilities, PLUS adrenaline healing, I think this change wouldn’t be too irrational for the class that is meant to have some of the highest sustain.

Just my own thoughts, probably will never happen. Remember I am not a guardian/warrior player, I just want to see the game to be properly balanced the way that it is intended. Believe me, there are so many buffs/nerfs I have ideas about for EVERY class that I think would make most classes pretty equal.

Many of the high tier players think that condensing server will make the lower tier servers have a “better experience”. This is completely false. I intentionally transferred from tier 1 to 2 to 3 to 8. Tier 8 is the most fun I have had on this game. True, there are some things I miss about the higher tiers, but as a solo roamer/ha over, I can say that the lower tiers are much more fun, and many of the players have a higher skill level. This includes T7 & 6 because Kaineng has been everywhere in the lower tiers
I’m hoping that the servers are NOT condensed, and that we get more maps. Preferably a rotating map system so each border land is different (same number of objectives just a different lay out) providing differen choke points, strategies, and etc. I also hope there will be new tower/keep upgrades, such as parapets and T3 gates. Maybe make fortified/reinforced walls a bit stronger against guild/superior catapults.

T1 for blobs and PPT
T2 for large guild fights and roaming
T3 just for roaming

Roaming in T2 is aids, nothing but perplex condi tanks but very accurate what you posted.

T2 solo roaming can give you ebola, cancer, influenza, etc

T8 roaming is very fun. I have been to T1,2, and 3, and T8 roaming has to be the funest, and possibly some of the best roamers too.
If you are on a low tier server, they are all mostly active (except for SF and BP). You just need the right guild. most of the people on these forums ay only tiers 1-3, and don’t know a thing about activity in most of the low tier servers (T7-8). It is most likely you just play at a time that has lower activity.

Awww, that’s no fun for anyone… Down in T8, we have not problems, are matchup is hovering about a 1000 difference right now and is very fun and filled with great small group fights and some very long-term sieges. It’s great!

Necro VS LB Ranger in WvW 1v1

A good necro should have no problem with Rangers. If you hit them with chill, they are done. DS2 or Staff 3 is a great utility. Also, dagger 3 (I run power necro) is a good root if you want to use daggers or wells. I personally haven’t found a Rangers who can beat me. I have no doubt there is one out there, just haven’t found it yet.

What if you divided your total number of kills by your rank.

For me that’s an average of (rounded to the nearest whole number) 54 kills per world rank. I’m pretty sure there’s people out there with many more kills to rank ratio than myself.

Hello, I am Oscuro of Kaineng! I know for me, the account I mostly play now is my second account. My old account had roughly 1100 ranks, but I don’t ply on it much anymore. Since I don’t zerg and only do roaming and havocing, the wXp comes slowly, but it is a much better way to get it. You don’t have to be high silver/gold to be good at the game. In fact, I often fear silvers more than golds for two reasons:
1) Silver is a very long rank, and if you fight someone who is roaming as a silver, they generally got that rank from roaming.
2) Most golds are zerglings/commanders. Very few are experienced roamers. Even on low tiers, it seems a lot of golds are just now experiencing skilled small group play, as if they are fresh out of the EOTM oven.
These stereo types do not apply to all people, but they are generally accurate in my own experiences.
Note: fear isn’t the right word…more okittennowledge as probably having superior skills.

There is a lot of hate on necromancers GRANTED I PLAY WvW as a havocer, and you all probably play PvE mostly, but still. I think necro is fun.
On topic, can’t play anything other than Asura because I don’t like the other races because…I dont. Asurans are the master race, every other race gtfo.

Exactly what the title says: What would you pay for on the trading post?
I would deffinetly pay for an option to change class color schemes. By this I mean if I wanted to change the color of my necro’s skills to yellow, I could. There would be 8 colors in total: Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple (mesmer color basically), black, white. Purchasing one color would unlock it account wide, so you could make all of your characters have yellow skills if you wanted to. The class color is just “default”. That’s what I would pay for, What about you guys?

On a more serious note, this is happenning more and more. Look at Borlis Pass in t7. They were down 50k by then end of saturday. They need to incooperated divider rials into te flicks rating if they don’t already have it…if they do than that sucks

I believe that structural defenses (oil and cannons) should have “shielding” that apes cannot go over and single target penetration skills do not penetrate. This does not mean it does not take damage, it simply means YOU do not. ACs are one thing. If you cannot survive on an AC, your team is not doing its job, or your siege placement sucks. But cannons and oil require you to be right at the fron, taking 20-30 hits per second depending on zerg size.
Also, I think siege should be able to be healed by any engineer out of combat who has tool kit equipt (similar to healing turrets). It should drain supply from the player, and the amount of supply necesaary to build it is directly proportional to the amount of supply necessary to rebuild. (10 supply put into an ac gives it 30% of its health back.
Finally, the gate toughness should be WAY higher. Walls should be a little higher, but mainly after reinforcement. Paper gates currently are the easiest way to cap a keep (even if there’l are cannons and oil and ACs. I’m pretty sure a solid wood gate would be a little harder to get through than hitting it with a ram 15-20ish times.
Finally, Rams should be different. They should require 4 people to use, and have a much longer cast time, but do more damage per hit. Superior Rams should have roof shielding to protect from AC Fire. This last idea is kind of an out there one, but I like it

The problem is people who go to wvw solely setup for 1v1’s and such dont help their server all that much so people generally have started going away from that playstyle, and since many people see no reason in looking for fights when just trying to cap camps its less likely you will find fights. What roamers do can be easily accomplished by players like me who multitask, maphopping, going from a zerg to quick camp captures, or tower caps etc etc. And we dont setup for 1v1’s so its pointless for us to fight those that do.

I personally disagree. On lower tier, I set up on all my classes a versatility build that allows me to 1vX easily while being able to solo cap towers and keeps. Zerg a are a very flawed idea in the game IMO. Having multiple 2 man groups running around calling towers and keeps is the ideal strategy. My guild will run 3 2-5 man groups on a map and manage to flip the map very quickly. Additionally, having each of those people being capable of 1v2ing as a minimum allows for our 5 man groups to wipe groups that number into the 10-15 range. Yes, some groups get wiped, but if a zerg wipes one group and saves one tower while two other towers flip and now their outer wall of a keep is down, it tends to overwhelm the zerg.
Im not condemning people who enjoy zergs, I’m just saying there are more efficient ways to win a match up.

Is there one? I am fairly new to ele and have a gear setup of all celestial trinkets, Knights armor and zerker dangers, but if I switched the daggers with a rampaged’s staff and moved some traits around would it be viable?
I am asking you guys because i only have 5 hours on my ele and I’m guessing you all have tried this at one point in your time on ele.

I know on lower tiers (like Kaineng) guild tags kinda take care of this. Since zergs are almost always guild groups, and most gameplay is small group roaming, certain guilds become better known as either good or bad.

I think they should increase the mercenary slayer line to have a bonus (like applied fortitude) that grants increased either:
A) Percision and toughnes
B) Condi duration and Ferocity
Mix and match any of the above four options

P.S. You guys need to pick up your borderland awareness, me and my guild mates will paper the keeps and all towers and it will stay that way for an hour or so.

This is coverage buddy… Nothing to do with border awareness. If there is no people, things won’t flip back by themselves… And your server specifically is known for having off-hour players.

Fair enough, I don’t really know your server population layout. I do know you guys have a few roamers, and that is the extent of my knowledge on your server.

Ultimately, they are similar in effectiveness (I personally believe engi is better), but it really matters what you like to play. Engineer will require more focus while warrior is very easy to learn and master.
