I think a nail gun would be really cool. AA applies cripple, and does relatively high damage. Have a skill with some sort of rapid fire mechanism, and another skil that immobilizes, and it would be pretty sweet. Throw in a trait that allows for bleed on all nail skills, and boom, a bersatile set that provides range (say 1000) and an option between direct and Condi damage (if specced for it).

Yeah Dietere, we’re enjoying the battles with you guys also. I’ve had some great duels the last week and a half with your server mates. It’s nice not to get ganked when there’s an obvious duel going on when I down someone’s party. But I main a thief, I’m used to ppl trying to gank me You Kaineng guys are like a steamroller though. And with players who act like you, I’d say a classy steamroller.

I’d have to give a good amount of the credit of our bolstering to Gaiscioch(and no I’m not from the guild, I’m in [ecto] not to be confused with [ECTO]mind you). They’ve become a lot more active in WvW as of late, and just in time because we’ve lost a lot of our “active WvW” guilds to a myriad of situations. There’s also been a few more of us logging in more in the AM and tagging up to attract others who might be doing dailies and come follow and learn that WvW is where it’s at. And most everyone is feeling the positive vibes lately and playing better because of it. We’re still seriously out-manned by all we go against, but as a whole, things don’t feel hopeless.

Yes, compared to last week, you guys have started to be more dominant. Don’t worry, Kaineng used to be in that situation. Now, with SN starting to have a presence nearly all day and night, we have great EB coverage. That sounds what you guys are getting with GSCH, as I have seen them with pretty massive zergs when I’m roaning.
Keep up the good work, you guys are really fun to fight (I run in the SIN guild) in your borderlands
P.S. You guys need to pick up your borderland awareness, me and my guild mates will paper the keeps and all towers and it will stay that way for an hour or so.

Hello, I am Oscuro of Kaineng, and I think you want to be on Kaineng. While recently, our group sizes have began to increase, the SIN guild is dedicated to small group roaming. Wee specialize in out numbered fighting and capping keeps and towers in maps by dividing their attention and speed capping. All of this takes coordination, and we promise we will only stack when checking for supply count;) (or really noobish pugs start following and we want to coordinate them)

Punishing The WvW Experience Was I Right?

Hello, I am Oscuro of Kaineng! It is awesome to see a high tier player comment on this change. It is a very different perspective from what we down in Kaineng have. I would like to touch on a few things you said, as I have played on tier 1 servers. First, you said it requires players to sentry. This is not true. This is a common misconception I have heard from a lot of people. This update makes the southern towers expendable, to be completely honest. You need to look at the south as your “white swords”. Having a 5 man havoc group roaning in the southern portion and occasionally checking on keeps will allow that havoc group to
A) Scout the southern portion
B) not be bored since ha overs usually have fun with that stuff
You can analyze patterns of southern map activity and usually tell if it is a large zerg or havoc, based on the amount of siege and capture rate.

Secondly, I feel this patch benefits roamer a and havoc groups. Most havoc groups should be offensive based if they are doing it right. Therefore, they will have a much higher success rate at capturing objectives with less resistance. This will benefit your server because you will have more points. Have a will even be able to cap keeps if they are skilled enough, and I’m sure a dedicated commander like yourself wouldn’t mind having a 1 keep buffer this brings me to a related point, you said it punishes commanders who are dedicated to looking at the MM. If you are doing this, I suggest you stop. Trusting your spotters is the most efficient way of commanding. When I would command in T1, I knew who the commanders that map watched were because everything was a bit slower paced. Have scouts (roamers, they are on every map and don’t mind it) check out major objectives every so often. I don’t mean stop using the map, but watching diligently for white swords is not something you should be doing unless you are leading a guild group, but even than that is iffy.

Lastly, it’s time you stopped zerging. This is the most beneficial part of this patch. You should have 2 or 3 tags per map to capture towers and than regroup for larger objectives (I.e. Keeps) this is the most effective way to play, despite how much you all love your zergs.
Additionally, I would like to add my opinion of white swords. I feel that white swords should appear, unless you are outmanned (if you are outmanned, the objectives you attack will not have white swords). This would benefit smaller servers who are fighting an uneven matchup. Larger servers will have to maintain coverage in whatever way possible since the will (most likely) outnumber their enemy in most maps. These are just my opinions on how it could and should be implemented.

Removing White Sword : Good or Bad?

Hello, I am Oscuro of Kaineng! I personally like no white swords to an extent. First, I believe it makes hav icing and soloing keeps MUCH easier because no one knows what you are doing until it is too late. However, I feel that you should make white swords in a structure you are attacking unless you are outnumbered. This would make it a much more useful tool for small groups and it would make the balance between large and small population servers less. I mean this in the sense that if a large server outmans a different server on every map, than the larger server is going to have a mind numbingly full time having to sit in their towers, while it is easier for the smaller server to fight back since they don’t pull white swords when attacking and have to fear the larger server. Just my thoughts

Kaineng NA, not sure what tier we are but we are pretty low. I haven’t played much in this new system (1 hour or so), so I don’t have a proper grasp of it, but i didn’t notice much of a change in solo roaming in enemy BLs. I personally think im there should be no white swords if you are outmanned. Deffinetly would benefit servers who are heavily out matched, and benefit small roaming groups.

No offense but this is equally as improbable. People on your server, including your zerg, will try everything to defend it. I have solo’d SMC and it takes far longer than 60 seconds. Plus, you will die 2 out of 10 times.

WvW Sneak Attack

I’m just worried what will happen when a smaller server fights a larger server, and simply can’t kill as many people. Also the fun optionally of towers is over for this test. There is nothing worth while to having a tower since you can’t kill anyone if you are hiding in a tower. However, this is a guess. I love the idea and like how Anet is implementing it. We are finally starting to actively engage the community

I agree that equal loot is something that is lacking, but not quite by the margin everyone seems to believe. If you cap lots of camps, towers, and keeps in small group roaning, you can get ALOT of money through t6 mats and salvaged materials. Yesterday, I got 12 gold in exotics from lord chests of towers that I took with only 3-5 people. We also killed a few groups that were larger than us, getting me 7-8 loot bags per fight, meaning I was getting a lot of salvageable materials. I fill up on silk about 2 times a week, and get around 50-70 tower loot bags a week. When you open those bags, you get t5/6 mats, some silver (I think it’s 10 silver each bag, maybe less) and some gear. Usually in 59 bags I’ll get 3 rates or exotics. Salvaging rates with Black Lion Salvage kits yields an average of 2 ectos each. This means 80 silver per. If you get an exotic, most sell for 2-3 gold, meaning you are making an average of 4.5 gold from exotics in 50 loot bags. Usually I get about 49 silk, 15 orichalcum, and 10 gossamer scraps, which all go into the material storage. Every week my silk fills twice getting me about 5g. I would say that iron fills once every 2 weeks, meaning 1.25 gold per week.
This means I am making about 10.75 gold a week. This is more than enough to support an all WvW player. You need to remember that, though you may get higher numbers champ farming, champ farming is mind numbingly dull for most people. This calculation is for just an average week of roaming.
If you are a zergling, I don’t know what you should expect. The problem is that people can’t kill other people, or cap towers with less than 10 people. That is why people have this perception of “no loot” in WvW. Even as a solo, I will build a golem and cap both southern towers and all southern camps while killing approximately 8-12 people while doing so. This usually takes 45 minutes, and can be repeated on the other map. If you are able to be self sufficient, loot is never a problem

Diversify the Borderlands - PLEASE

I know many will dislike this idea, but for the lower tiers, where we simply can’t fill the maps as is, it would actually be beneficial to cut the BorderLands down to a single copy. And just tweak the Citadel and south Spawn points to have same services. Let red keep the Citadel side (they usually need the advantage).

For us down in Tier 8 atm, we would still have problems filling 2 maps (EBG+1 single BL map). Tier8 atm would probably have trouble filling EBG alone. And it would somewhat remove the annoyance of having 3 identical maps.

Obviously, don’t do this for higher tiers that can still field enough numbers.

This should also be fairly cost efficient, as you would only need to do small tweaks and changes to existing map, at worst only move and change some services around and add more to the south spawn points.

At worst, might add another Keep similar to SMC somewhere in the middle (Probably around the Lost Temple Blood-lust), and do something more exciting with the North west+east areas (Skritt and Centaur retirement offices) to make better use of the space of the map.

Another alternative, is to add the old Borderland (with the orbs of power and water/quaggans) as well as EotM as extra maps, and randomly assign them each match as Borderlands, but that would create all kinds of silly (aka fun!) and not be very competitive (Personally don’t think WvW really needs to try that hard to be competitive anyways, so many factors anyways).

On another note, if they are first redoing the BL maps, I really do like the idea of having 3 maps that surround EBG that you mentioned above.

If they truly want to diversify WvW though, they should instead of having 3 identical/similar maps, create a set of different sized and styled maps, so players can go do what they actually want. Example:

EBG = Big fights
Borderlands = Skirmished and havoc squads (might set the user cap on the map, per side, to say 40 to demonstrate this)
New Skirmish map = For roaming and small group fights with smaller objectives
New Siege map = Basically wall to wall fighting, great for GvG’s that like to battle siege.

Etc, you get the idea. Instead of having more maps that encourage the same play style, they should diversify it with different maps, so players can go find the play style they want to.

Hey Elrik! I like your idea, and this is pretty the consistent wish for all roamer a (not just Kaineng) on lower tiers. I have many friends whom I duel with and even will roam with even though they are on other servers. Most roamer a would love to see these ideas become a reality, including me!

Waiit what? Roaming against SoR or SF is like the worst nightmare of any roamers… Everytime I was matched with these server there were absolutely ZERO roamers from both of them.

Any other lower tier server however can give you some fights…

Ah, the problem is probably that I go into 7v7 fights between SoR and SF and start killing people. The other day I did that for the first time on my necro…I think I killed everyone who didn’t run into the tower.

Well, if you are on SOR, I roam against you. I am Oscuro of Kaineng! I run a thief, and have run thief for 3 years. Most recently I have started the class that I never see roaming: Necromancer. Here is a fairly accurate layout for low tier roaming (best place to roam):
Ranger: 20%
Guardian: 20%
Thief: 20%
Mesmer: 15%
Ele: 12%
Engi: 5%
Warrior: 5%
Necro: 3%
This is based on my personal observations. Necromancers and warriors have become very few and far between as solo or small group roamers. Guards, Rangers, and thieves have overpopulated the roaming world imo.

That might explain why I see Thieves everywhere.

If you see a group of Condi thieves from Kaineng, that’s us
Also look for the SIN guild, we love fighting outnumbered and flipping keeps on ALL borderlands

Huge undertaking - Fastest way to solo keeps?

You have to remember you have to get inside the keep. No profession gets you inside the keep. Once you START on the lord, an average keep cap takes 2:30-3:30 if you get good at it. 1 keep every 3 minutes isn’t feasible since you need to have a way in, unless you get Mesmers as dedicated as you to hide in the keep, which is not likely. Best of luck though!

Hello! I am Oscuro of Kaineng! I can assure you WvW is very much NOT dead. You are doing it wrong. The roaming servers are the low tier servers, like Kaineng, SoR, and SF. If you are on these servers, you cannot expect large zerg to come and help you in your fight, you cannot expect to find fair fights. Nothing is fair when you are roaming, and that is what makes WvW what it is. You fight unfair, kiting around buildings, ambushing people, and doing whatever is necessary to kill people. So many like you claim to see no one, but what they truly see is no solo roamers. They avoid white swords and try to find the other single person on the map sitting in the mid ruins trying to find you. Statistically, if you avoid people, you will see less people. It’s simply a fact.
If somehow, you go to every white sword, go to every call out in chat, and never see anyone, you are very unlucky. Be ready to fight against 5-20 people alone or with only a few others by your side, or you will continue to have the same problems.

Idea for a new WvW Map

I like the idea but like the idea of having 7 or so maps that are randomly selected for each borderland better. Different spawn areas, tower/keep layouts, and geography.
For example, one idea I though would be cool would be an abandoned Dwarf Firtress. Put a mountain in the middle of the map and have the home server have citadel at a southern-ish portion of the map (similar how it is now with garrison but on the south side). Have the other two servers spawn in the north. The keep is carved into the mountain and has no inner walls. Additionally, lords room will be elevated, allowing you to build ACs in lords that protects both inner and outer.
Other maps like a forest or prairie based map would be really cool IMO

Caltrops, Retaliation, CnD off walls

I’m just here for the CnD off walls because I haven’t had much trouble with it in the past. But I was recently fighting a condition Thief near Stonemist Castle and the fight went on for nearly 5 minutes. Why? He couldn’t burst me down with conditions so he kept resetting the fight by CnDing off the outer walls. I eventually gave up and left because any time he was getting low he’d Shadow Refuge or spam CnD on the walls. Which I could clearly see him doing since he’d be visible for a split second when I saw him stab the wall at some random location before vanishing again.. Was the most irritating fight I’ve had in a long time.

Hello, I am Oscuro of Kaineng! I have played Condi thief for a very long time, and can offer some opinions from a dedicated thief player on this topic. Caltrops are not a condi thief’s main source of damage. If they are just dodging around you to kill you, move. They are wasting their endurance which is a primary source of sustain for all thieves. Secondly, walls are only CnDable when hit from the top and within a certain distance. If a thief is running around doing this, they are no threat, so you should wait until they come down from the wall. To answer this specific scenario, if a thief cannot burst you and is stealthing off of the walls, he is
A) Not very good because, unless you play diamond skin ele, I have never encountered a player I could not kill with Condi because of the speed of the burst repetition as well as the auto attack stacks bleed
B) not going to accomplish anything since he is in your tower/keep and can’t kill a solo person. Most people unable to hold a fight long enough to cause their opponent to heal and feel threatened cannot solo keeps/towers. If you fight a good Condi thief, you will know

Necrotic Healer?

I’ve always wanted to try something like this. Possibly some sort of full support build which focuses on high tough/vitality and taking the conditions from your allies so they can keep fighting without worrying about Condi clear. Possibly mix in Unholy Sanctuary too for some regen in DS so you can keep taking more condis from your team. The signet (can’t remember which one) and Unholy Martyr would be good for drawing conditions to your self. Having a dagger off hand on one set would allow you to transfer those conditions off of you as well. Probably some healing/tough/vitality gear would put this build up there with the greatest of tanks, but that’s all just theory coming off of the top of my head. I will probably try soemthing like this soon. I’ll be sure to keep you updated.

I’m on Seafarer’s Rest and I always have a blast roaming. I’ve roamed on lower tier severs and high tier servers on both NA and EU. I’ve been solo roaming for about a year now and it never gets boring to me.

I’ll suggest some things for you that might enhance your experience: First, try not looking for fights. Roaming isn’t about fights despite what a lot of people might think. Roaming is about being a special op for your server, completing small tasks like killing yaks, flipping camps, etc. Fights are a bi-product of your ventures not the focal point.

Second, take on bigger obstacles. Do things like setting up ballistas to kill siege in enemy towers/keeps, tap tower/keep gates to annoy the enemy and to keep them paranoid, troll around merc camps (hylek/dredge/ogre) for solos that you can assassinate and see how many towers you can snipe. Personally I love YOLO capping towers during prime time. I’ll set up a cata or ram and pray to god I don’t get zerged before I get inside. Once I’m in, I make a quick survey of my map and surroundings before going for the lord. You’d be surprised at how easy it is to snipe towers if you’re smart about timing.

And lastly, don’t stress over anything. As a roamer, you’re free to go where the wind blows. Don’t make objectives, just do what seems most entertaining to you at the time. When I roam, I don’t think to myself, “okay, I’m going to take this and that, attack this and fight these guys.” I wander in random directions, capture objectives, make scout calls, get in to fights, etc. with no predetermined goals. It’s a do-it-at-your-own-pace job that only requires you to do one thing: pay attention. The better your eyes on the back of your head can see the longer you’ll stay alive. Know when you’re pushing your luck, always check your back and flanks and pay attention to /map chat incase it concerns your location. You can be laid back about having no specific objectives but you’ve always got to be on guard or you won’t last long.

Just remember that WvW isn’t PvP and it isn’t PvE. It’s PvPvE. You don’t have to focus on fighting other players and you don’t have to focus on fighting NPC’s. Do a combination of the two and be useful to your server by contributing to PPT.

If you ever see a Gold Colonel from [SwAg] around don’t let me go (; If I can take your towers, or even your keep, I’ll do it without a second thought and take on whoever comes my way.

This is basically all i do when I play. Maybe find a good roaming guild and go with two or three people, as that too can be fun. Learning to disengage fights as a roamer deffinetly helps keep the ball rising, and if you can, hiding in towers and keeps than soloing is one of my favorite things to do. Doesn’t even have to be your server attacking the tower. Also, always have golems for solo tower caps

I need a specific roaming build

If you want one weapon set that is easy to play, Has high dps and has speed and sustain plus boons for allies (kind of sounds what you are asking for) it doesn’t really exist. I like my engi, but that takes a lot of skill. I like my necro even more, but that does not have boons for allies, speed, and is not easy to play in 1vX scenarios unless you are good. Most of all, I love my thief. HOWEVER, thief is hard to play, does not solo camps fast, but does solo them easily, and cannot provide support for other classes. People will Rage when you kill them and claim your class is OP, or you’re hacking. But, if you get good, you can burn through enemies, 1v5 consistently, solo keeps, and even get to a point where you can 2v17 with another thief.
But if you want the easy way out, Condi regen or shout warriors are pretty kitten good and deffinetly take no skill

No idea, I really hope they do this soon, being on Kaineng, getting points per kill would be great except it deffinetly needs to be scaled to the amount of people on the map. For example, if you are outnumbered 1-10, you should get more points per kill. If a solo roamer 1v5s they get more points per kill.

Kaineng is the place for you, believe me. We have NO numbers. Last time we had a zergvwas in August. Our roaning truly is top notch, every one is skilled, especially my guild. I would happily invite you. We are always looking to expand to have more roamer a, and our community is very close knit. We don’t win often, but when we are active, we tend to dominate most of the maps. Hope you truly consider Kaineng!

Since when can Thieves do this?

Hello, I am Oscuro of Kaineng, the very thief you are mentioning. I did not hack/exploit into your bay. I have never used hacks/exploits in this game or any game. Your inner was never breached…technically. I had a small group of people breach outer, and ram inner until it was down. I went in while the others were killing guards. At that very time, the keep upgraded, and the door returned to full health. I was in, they were out. Two or three people showed up, so I hid inside using stealth and the rest left. It appeared as if you guys had maintained the integrity of the inner bastion, but it was open for literally 5 seconds. I don’t even think we started on the gate again, the others just left. I hid for about an hour and a half, until I felt it was a good time to solo. I tried to have my friends attack south gate to divert your attention while I was soloing. They only started too late. I do not want to be known as a hacker, because I am not one. I think I am a good thief, having played my Condi thief since beta, getting very adapted to it. I hope this clears up any misconceptions you have about me, or my guild, or my server. Believe me, neither me nor any of my guild uses hacks/exploits. I experienced the same thing when I did a 2v17 with another Condi thief who is no longer on my server. People always try to blame hacks or exploits when they cannot explain something or are not skilled enough to kill someone. Believe me, it was not 30 seconds. You need to remember there is a delay between attacking and swords popping. Additionally, if you were taking stuff from the tp, it is very possible that I had additional time because you didn’t see the swords for an additional 20 seconds. I was attacking for about 2 minutes to 2 and a half minutes.
I completely understand your concern, but want to assure you i did NOT exploit or hack in. Any rebutle you have i will gladly answer in a private message or in game mail/ whisper.

I think that there should be a new unlockable skill for all classes that allow each class to have a way to get into a keep or tower.
I.e. Necromancers can summon Zhaitan and destroy the walls to a keep it tower. Zhaitan only attacks structures, not the lord.
Thief: Grappling hook: Equipt a 2 use grappling hook that allows you to scale two walls to get into a keep or tower.
Ranger: Fly upon your majestic griffin Over the highest obstacle. Cannot attack from this great griffin, lasts 30 seconds.
Warrior: leap with your immensely powerful legs onto a wall or cliff. 2 uses
Guardian: go into deep meditation, slowly hovering onto the top of a wall or cliff. (30 second cool down)
Mesmer: Wall walker (mantra): Master your teleportative skills, allowing you to phase through walls and other objects. 2 uses.
Elementalist: Air leap: Use the power of air to leap to great heights, allowing you to vault over walls and cliffs.
All of these skills cost 150 skill points, and have a 5 minute cool down. Additionally, the tower lords should be made more difficult to kill (I want a challenge when I solo keeps, they are too easy now)

1st: Don’t stop posting! These are great ideas, and all of the people who say it is useless have given up hope. While this is understandable, I personally have not given up hope that Anet will eventually work on WvW.
2nd: To everyone who says that WvW is going to be removed in 2015, I personally think you are wrong. You just think that because the blobs are becoming smaller, no one plays anymore, but WvW has a very loyal player base and I do not think it will be ended. Besides, it does not make sense to end WvW since it is already implemented and wouldn’t be that large of a strain to just maintain it as-is (I may just be ignorant and refusing to believe that WvW is a non-issue, but I would prefer to stay that way)

Hello everyone! I am Oscuro of Kaineng. I recently made a necro,and have slowly been leveling it to 80 (mostly tome farming pvp). I made a build up during my numerous hours of pvp and greatly enjoy it in pvp and find relatively decent sucess in both hot join and tpvp. HOWEVER, it is a celestial build. I unfortunately only have 15 fused Quartz crystals, meaning I only can have 3 armor pieces tomorrow (anticipating level 80 tomorrow). Is there an armor combination that will give me the same (or similar) stats as celesti so I can just craft a satchel of armor rather than individual pieces? I am not very experienced in hybrid builds, I have always been a pure direct damage or pure Condi build. Thank you in advanced.

I Think a cool thing they could do with death shroud is to create a trait that allows for signets to be active in death shroud. This couples with the new heal-in-death shroud trait could create some very tacky and powerful builds. In thinking healing signet with power signet with a clerics build for super healing while in deathshroud

Can anybody find other ingame examples of NPC using a weapon that doesn’t belong to their profession? So far I only know Trehearne and Rytlock. As long as Marjory is the only NPC with unique weapon animation and effect I will keep my hope on new weapon skills up.

Yes. On the giant statue fractal, the legendary at the bottom has a hammer, and it looks AWESOME! He has a three attack chain with the final attack dropping a well. He also has some pretty cool skills focused around wells. I don’t really remember all of the skills because it’s been a while since I did that fractal, but it looks awesome, if someone could link a video that would be sweet. It is literally the first boss you fight.

Arrow carts in mediocre numbers will stop even the most organized zerg assaulting a keep.

Ballistas are very niche.

I think ballis=acs. When looking at a non superior in its most useful situation, Ballis win. ACs are just versatile. Acts and ballis can both be used in open field fights, but ACs are better in long term fights while ballis are better in outnumbered fights. Also ballis kill cannons and golems very well. Plus spread shot OP. Therfore, ballis=acs.
I personally think regular catapults are the most useless. Against anything upgraded, they are slow as molasses. However, this means they are by no means bad, just inferior to other siege imo.

What if you stealth as a thief? Being that thieves only have teleports and stealth, I don’t think they should be disabled since it is the most effective roaming class and would be widely popular for this. Just make the orb re appear when you exit stealth.

I think it would be very plausible to implement some sort of dueling system in the OS arena that mimics the queens gauntlet boss duel system that was above the boss blitz. By adding an upper ring to the arena that can be accessed by a portal and queens gauntlet entry system adds tons of options.
1. Everyone who goes there can be made friendly. This would allow for all players to see /s chat, allowing better communication and keeps idiots from ruining duels.
2. The NPC entry system can have multiple options, such as 1v1 (you can invite specific people too), 1vX, party vs party (only allows party members to join), and guild vs guild (only allows guild members to join, has a player limit)
3. Finally, this is completely out of the way of people who don’t like duels, want them, even intentionally kill people doing them. This appeases both the person who dislikes duels, as well as the ones who love them.

FINAL NOTE! When a duel is started, people have 1 minute to join 1v1/party v party, andguild vs guild is a ready system in which the commander decides when the guild is ready. Once the player limit is met, the time limit goes to a five second warning. Once the five seconds expire, you are teleported into an arena, similar to the queens gauntlet. Once someone has been killed they are teleported back to the platform, to avoid hard reading in party v party. Once all of one side are killed, both people teleport to the platform. I personally think victors should get some sort of small reward. I would say badges for each victory, but badges are fairly worthless.

This is possible because ET has a lot more numbers then before. For months they were sitting at the bottom, forever stuck on the red side until transfers happened about a month or two ago. I understand where you come from, I play on Anvil Rock and we were getting stomped alongside Kaineng when we were dealing with the ET/AR/Kain match up. They’re on the rise and should be stable in T6. Give it another week or two and they should be moving up the bronze ladder soon.

EDIT: Just want to say, congratulations to ET. Keep moving up, I certainly don’t want to deal with your coverage anytime soon :p

I am on Kaineng and can attest to this. While roaming wise, we have ABSOLUTELY no problem, that’s all we can do. We have at most a 20 man zerg on EV and a lot of it is up levels and pugs.

P.S. If you love roaming, come to Kaineng, we have amazing roaming. Limitless 1vX or 2-5vX! We will even teach you to kill tons of people! You just have to despise zergs.

I am sure Condi thief and proud! However, I have played Condi thief for 3 years now. I personally love it and will gladly embrace the rage that I get from my enemies and anyone on this forum
The only thing that I feel justified it is that I olay on Kaineng and almost every fight we are outnumbered 1 to 5.

Hello! I am Oscuro of Kaineng! If you are a frequenter to WvW on our great server, you would probably recognize me. You need to believe me when I say that you are mistaken. It is easy to believe that our server is dieing when we have our 4 main serving guilds transfer out. It is easy to believe that transferring is the solution when you no longer have a guild that maintains a zerg. But this is a flawed perception of WvW. Let me show you the truth of Kaineng.
I am forming a guild called the Kaineng Reformation Movement. It is not a guild that is focused around zerging, and is not focused on becoming a powerhouse. Rather, I want to focus on teaching players to be able to form small 5-10 man groups and capture towers and keeps with these small groups. We had our first roaming led by yours truly, and it went amazing. We captured 4 t3 keeps with opposition. This was with 6 people. I urge you to join us. Let me teach you how to play the game outside of a zerg.
You may ask “Why your guild over the others, like SN?” By all means, join SN. They are now our largest guild meaning they SHOULD be making the largest impact on our WvW. They currently do make a sizable contribution, and are very impactful. However, SN lacks leadership outside of Dangleon. I have seen a few other commanders but the only consistent one is Dangleon. I mean this with the most respect possible to SN as they are a great guild, and maybe I am wrong. It is important to know that we are not trying to replace any guilds, simply teach people how to not be pugs, and rather be competent players. Join us, and you will see that Kaineng is far from dead

I run a rabid Condi engi with two kits and elixir s. Bomb kit + tool kit is what I run mostly, switching in jades depending on the situation. I like to lead off with 2 skill on the pistol as it expires any aegis/blind that has been previously applied, as well as getting a nice poison on the enemy to dampen regen or healing. Usually I’ll get a burn and torment proc from that. Then I use the 3 skill for some average confusion and blind for whatever lead skill they use.
Where I go from there is dependent on the class. I’m going to use guardian and ranger as my two samples as they exemplify the ranged and melee aspects of the game.
Guardian: after getting the static shot off, they will usually use their greatsword leap and go into a combo. I usually switch to TK to drop caltrops and smack them with pry at as they leap in so their the confusion wrecks their face off while they spam skills. I’ve found that if I continue to dodge, I can maintain +75% health in any melee combo. After TK, I drop my blind bomb then the fire and confusion bombs. This should get some nice conditions on them. Kite around the burn/blind field you have created. By this time the poison shot and static shot on the pistol should be recharged. Blow through those then drop the TK caltrops and pull them to get cc. In this break, I usually use my heal as I am around 75% health and like to remain as high as possible. That rotation should kill them.

Ranger: The range they have is annoying. Depending on the situation, utilize the opening pistol rotation, the be ready for a rapid fire. The shield 4 skill is good for countering that and usually gets some decent burn/torment procs off of crits. They may use their knockback in themselves and you will have to use shield 5 to block the rapid fire after that. It will give a nice stun. In this stun, you can rotate straight into TK rotation. You use the pull into the prybar then drop caltrops. Next you use the glue bomb to root the ranger then spam all your bomb before he tries to get away. Next, use all of the pistol skills and they should be dead. I almost always win against rangers without dropping below 90%.
Of course, these rotations need to be modified per build per profession, but I encounter zerk Longbow Rangers and whatever the guardian meta build is. Last note: THIEVES! Cc+bombs=EASY WIN!!!

Well, considering Kaineng has officially lost every guild capable of fielding a zerg, so we only have roamers, were screwed. Maybe if it is scaled to active WvW population, or the scale of the fight: I.e. 1v3 gives 1 point for killing the solo, but the solo gets 2 points per kill. Since we are literally incapable of fighting or fielding a blob, this system would be interesting.

Coverage is a major issue in this game IMO. It leads to server transfers and corrupted players. Is it possible that we could fix this via pre-existing game mechanics? I say yes.
Here is my theory: Towers and keeps are as good as gone if no one is there, and if there is, they can’t often hold a keep alone unless they have a very good knowledge of the. game. Also, the keep and tower lords have become useless in protecting a keep. I have solo’d every objective except SMC, and I can say that it is no challenge anymore, even when i go on my alts.
So what is the reason? I believe that the ease with which tower guards, even Fully upgraded ones, can be killed is absurd. I personally feel camps are in a good place, but these towers and keeps have meaningless archers and soldiers in them that do nothing. This is why I suggest that the archers and guards of towers and keeps get a major buff. They should be much more functioning in terms of survivability and be able to counter siege and other things much more efficiently.
Look at storm callers in EOTM. I have personally single handedly kept them alive so they can destroy rams of the enemy teams (just some fun trolling). Meanwhile, all archers seem good for is knocking people out of South West Tower.
Finally, to get to implementation. Archers should have much more damage than they currently do. They should also have access to the arrow barrage skill which archers have, and this should have fairly high damage. Further more, when a tower/keep is being attacked, the archers should all go to where the enemies are and start to fight them. This would seem to be a nuesense in the archer’s current state, but if they have a function where they avoid red aoe rings. Additionally, they target siege weapons over players, making them more effective in defending an objective before the melee train smacks them to death.
Additionally, soldiers/scouts should have higher health when upgraded, and should switch their targeting from highest armor to highest power, allowing them to actually kill people rather than trying to kill the super tanky guard or warrior

We have close match ups, all we do is roam because there is only 2 guilds that are large enough to zerg. We have a decent 10-20 man zerg in EB if there is a commander (NOT Ajax Blue) and if you roam in the good guilds, 5v10-15s aren’t all that uncommon

Hello! I am Oscuro of Kaineng. If you are on kaineng and frequent WvW, you probably know who I am. Kaineng is a low population server and I, and many of my fellow server mates, feel that way. Let me tell you the story of my time on GW 2 WvW!
When I started playing this game, I was in the server Black Gate. Black Gate was an awesome community and I had a great guild. I loved roaming on my thief and it was definitely a plus having some good zerg fights every so often. For the first months of the game, everything was great. Than, something came that ruined everything. One of the most damaging and fundamentally flawed aspects of the game…blobs.
Blobs completely changed the face if WvW T1 for the worse. So, one game changing week, we played Yaks Bend. Yaks Bend was not blogging, yet our blobs were slowed to a crawl by tactical siege placement and superior strategy. Being an avid roamer, I could respect what they did, it wasn’t much different than a 1vX, just on a larger scale. Some weeks passed and the blob got worse. Roaming became difficult on my older computer, and I couldn’t take it. I took a small break (1-2 weeks), and when I got back, my whole guild had transferred to ioj. So I decided to act. I transferred to Yaks Bend.
Yaks Bend was awesome. It had a great community and so many people were welcoming. However, the Blob was gaining fake for its unprecedented amount of badges, karma, and XP. Soon, small blobs began to appear in Yaks Bend. I saw the same thing repeating. Meanwhile, one of the friends I had originally began playing with way back in beta began playing and had transferred to Kaineng. He said it was great, the Blob was present but fairly contained. This was around the time Kaineng had been almost T1. I though about it but did not act. Eventually, events transpired in Yaks Bend that made me want to leave. Note that this is almost a month later. Kaineng had fallen a decent bit because of transfers. So, I talked my friend and he said that roaming in the lower end of the WvW spectrum was great. I saw my opprotunity and took it. Not once have I regretted it. There have been frustrating times. Like guilds transferring and taking many of our active players, but I like KAINENG. Not the servers we play, not winning, but I like the current people i play with. I like our lack of numbers and our teamwork we are developing.
If you want to see balanced matches and true roaming fun, look at places like Kaineng. Occasionally a higher population server comes along and smacks us around, and it is somewhat frustrating, but we still find ways to have fun. Think about 5 people holding a t2 tower from the Blob. It is fun, and it is what we have learned to do.
Let this serve as a message to all of you who say lower tier servers should merge so they put up a fight. IT IS NOT TRUE! We do put up a fight, only because we can outsmart people. We aren’t going to run a 7 man group into the Blob and give you free loot bags, no, we will kite you and slowly kill you for a long time until you get too frustrated to kill us. We don’t necessarily play to win all of the matchup, we play to win the fights we do fight. If you expect a lower tier server to field a Blob the same size as that of a higher population server, you are fooling yourself. AND if you are on a low tier server and want to have more people to zerg with, transfer or make full use of EOTM. But, don’t ever, EVER, suggest combining lower tier server, ESPECIALLY if you aren’t in one!

I, a wvwer since beta, commander, and avid supporter of golems, firmly believe the problem is the map, if we could have 7 random maps that each borderland is chosen out of, I am fairly confident it would make the game ALOT more entertaining and reduce burn out. Think about the mind numbing dullness of using the same choke point on EVERY MAP! It’s absurd. The game has been around far to long for this to not have been implemented. Look at it this way, there is already one map done, If there are 6 others, and every map is different each week, it would add a lot of strategy and skill to the game. Food for thought

I did a 1v5 against absolute scrubs and got QQ about “d/p perma stealth nub, play a real class!”… I was playing p/d Condi w/ sb off hand.
Their stupidity hurts me
