Hey, planning on making my first Ascended armor set.
I want something I could use for both power and condi builds, focusing on all Offense stats. My thought is to make six pieces of Rampagers since it has prec, pow, condi.
Are there any other options or mix and match options that I am missing?
Actions speak louder than words. If HoT doesn’t kick kitten with fixing broken stuff since beta, and all of the stuff they are saying with awesome and fun fixes, then they are in for some hurt.
We’ll see is my mantra. Eso b2p till then, and maybe well beyond!
Not to knock gw2, I like it quite a bit… But it isn’t a good enough game to ask a subscription.
Too many bugs since launch, too many undeveloped systems, and not enough hook.
It’s a good game for the model that it is, but it coudnt make the switch with what it is offering now or in HoT.
Be thankful even more :P
Just be thankful you can actually complete the event and get the trait…
There are plenty trait unlocks that you can’t even complete due to bugs…
I think it is a stall tactic, plain and simple.
I am thinking of giving ESO a go. I want to diversify my game portfolio, especially with Nexon chomping at the bit for ncsoft.
Plus, I’ve heard the build diversity is top notch, which would be refreshing from the same 1 skill for three years now…i swing my sword again…. kitten .
Shield should give a true block or reflect. I’d also like to see it proc aegis on trait.
Torch 5 remove condis on you, rebalance required.
Lastly, virtue passives suck. They need more incentive or better counterplay of choice between passives and actives. Same goes for our signers minus the healing one. Take a lesson from warrior signets or necro signets. Also, the trait investment to just make one virtue good is simply not worth the point investment as it currently stands.
Lastly, swap ferocity from third traitline with boon duration in 5th line.
I had this question a long time ago.
My own opinion after thinking about it is that if you added a pets hp to the rangers hp,, the ranger would be the medium armor high HP profession.
I wish it was engineer, it would feel right.
Or a simple change making every boss melee autosttack cleave five targets for even dmg.
I don’t think the problem is Berzerkers, I think it is pathetic stacking up on each other and simply soaking the Bosses dps.
If they fix that mechanic of splitting/sharing damage and being on top of each other to insta-rez, I feel that the OP would not have brought this up.
My suggestion: If a boss downs a player, each player within 60 range takes double the damage that the downed player took .
That would promote skilled play.
In the ranger CDI this as brought up again and again. Basically the answer was that this would take too much effort and time to change rangers in this way.
Anet only wants rangers to use pets, this will never be just archers. That’s what I gathered from the CDI… Rangers will stay just the same as wows model.
Should this be moved to the HOT forum? It seems that is going to be the case…
^ if that is the case I am totally screwed because I have not got a skill point scroll inabout forty days.
One thing I dislike with this game is how many currencies this game has. They need to streamline laurels, karma, skill points, and the countless unique ones that they add for specific releases.
I am getting more and more pessimistic about this system. The longer this goes on the more it make me think they are overamalyzing and are probably going to the traits into a grind just like ascended gear, crafting, legendaries, farming, and every other system this game has.
Sorry. What was the question again, OP?
When looking at Givers armor, it make me compare it to Givers Weapons, each hand gives 10% to Condi duration. I don’t know exact stat balancing for weapon vs armor slots, but it doesn’t make sense to me that you can have:
Condi duration of 30% in a trait line
Boon duration of 30% in a trait line
Condi duration of 10% in an item slot
Boon duration of 1% in an item slot… 1/10th!!!
That is just way in off base, imo.
Climbing would be a great addition. I hate it in mmos when you do the running slide against an invisible angle that your character can’t climb. “use your hands, dude” is always what I am thinking, lol.
I hate wings, and would dislike this very much.
I already feel that wings are immersion breaking and lore breaking items. They aren’t magic, they aren’t mechanical, they are simply sold aesthetics that infect the game and flap around like clueless bird wings. They are bothersome to just be around, to me.
That is how I really feel ????
Well you can’t both be right.
I remember them saying that you.would be.equal at.cap with no grind.
Colin confirmed that they changed their minds. I still am upset over it, but it isn’t my.call… But it does give me pause on.the expansion.
Life without HoT… Cold.
No, but really, I like gw2… But at the same time there are things that have needed to be addressed for a long time.
If they don’t address those things, or if they charge more than what I feel it is worth (about 25-30 usd from what they have identified as large things that the xpac will bring)… I will simply wait for a sale or not buy it. It is really that simple. I like the game, but I’m not tied to it to the point where I am not weighing the worth of the xpac.
They aren’t helpless victims. That is the wrong picture to be painting.
Personally, I’m wondering why they haven’t been speaking up about the repeated bumping done to this topic with nothing more than snide sniping at them just on topic enough to not be off topic. This thread had little purpose to existing, and somewhere around page 50 the other one didn’t have one either other than being an echo chamber about how the revamp sucked and needed to be fixed. An echo which kept on right over the “we’re going to change it, we’re working on something”.
Did Gail repost it thinking that people wouldn’t keep complaining like in the last thread?
Maybe she thought another Dev would jump in with more info?
Regardless, Anet restarted the thread, not us. I am expecting info from them, and I expect people to voice their opinions.
I am convinced that they re-did traits to create another money and skill point sink… Let’s hope they don’t do that with the new system that they already have planned.
Oh, and I will absolutely not buy HoT until I play and see the new trait and npe system for myself. Then I will decide about the choices that they made. I sure hope they are good because I do like this game.
Edited the post to also calculate the soldier armor, since your numbers simply are
much too different. You see celestial and soldiers are very close and not so difference
than what you postet. And like i said before, might and banner change the total numbers but not the percentage.
Question.
Your chart does not factor in Condi damage for celestial. How much dmg would that add? I wonder for solo play for certain mob types in Silverwastes or high toughness.
Back on toughness and defense…
I heard that shields are unique and give more baseline Defense which other weapons do not give. I looked but couldn’t find it in the wiki.
Can anyone confirm?

Seriously, assuming the means are there, whos playing now that will absolutely not purchase the expansion?
People that are not getting the expansion probably don’t plan on playing much longer or not really invested in the game that much. The game itself is in its 3rd year. Sorry, but unless you are a minor with no income, if you can’t afford or save 50$ the expansion you really need to evaluate if you should be playing video games.[/quote]
I’m playing now, but am unsure if the expac will have what I want. We will see.
I am excited about revenant.
I also hope they make old professions skills and traits new and refreshing… I am bored out of my mind with almost all of them at this point. I hate the #1 skills of all of them at this point…
So instead of stability being OP, now Boon Removal is top dog?
Don’t get it…
Interesting.
For guard, with pure of voice and trooper runes and all utilities as shouts you end up with six Condi cleanses about every 35 to 40 seconds. They do help team mates, but I wouldn’t call that amazing renewal. Then you could trait purity and use The healing signet, which add another six cleanses every 30 seconds. You could go 4 into virtues for absolute resolution which is three cleanses every 48 seconds but then you are x,x,x,6,4.
So if you did that, you would be about 12 every 30 seconds, if you average AR, 14 every 30 seconds.
Seems to me like War with mending and trait restorative strength is up to 7 every 20 seconds, cleansing ire is 3 every 10 so 9 every 30.
Those two alone give 18 every thirty seconds. And all utility skills are available still.
Ran out of time, by having fun theory crafting now! Will have to start calculating for each class! I don’t know ranger, med, ele or thief well, so I will do those last.
Like the title says, what professions have the best inherent ability to cleanse conditions? From what I know of the classes, I’d rate them:
Ele
War
Necro
Curious what you guys think as I have not played all the classes yet, and I want to theory craft a took that shakes off condis like they are nothing.
Guard needs a finisher, maybe blast on Detonate Shield. I think that would be plenty.
I’d like to see a finisher on one of the MH weapons as well.
I already do that, its not the same thing.
I know other people have asked for this from the start, and its good to hear that other people have trouble seeing stuff through all the clutter!
Hopefully they will address this in HoT. Sort of pointless to make things harder if you can’t even see the boss…
Very helpful, thanks!
Sorry you feel that way. However, this is a standard mmo feature, and with adfi.g harder content that will hopefully be equivalent to other AAA games out there, I feel the comment is a valid one.
The problem with the Revenant is the kinetic nature of the class and its skill effects makes even Eles look slow and sad. Along with the OP, I’m hoping ANet will update “the look” of all existing professions with HoT, to give the same “feel” as the Revenant for the existing professions, but based just on the abysmal handling of skill balance and the length of time it takes to get stat fixes, that hope is not very confident.
You are making me depressed :C
Not try to be an idiot…
… how do you promote things? That link says that you can promote stuff, but…
Am I doing this through the mystic forge? Buying some item that allows me? I dont know where to go in-game to figure this out.
Seems like a tone of work to try and figure out how to do this… I guess I was looking for something intuitive, or at the least, obvious.
Am I missing an obvious NPC in game that tells me how to do this? Seems like you wouldn’t make a crafting system that required people to wiki how to even learn the system. I have to be missing something in-game… I’m sure it’s obvious, I just don’t know what…
Seems like they are buffing conditions, if anything, with the nerf to stability.
Unless they address of how frequently conditions are applied and do something to buff removal tools, which are always on at least double and usually more like triple the CD, they will get more powerful relatively speaking.
Genuinely wondering…..
If they are making harder content that will be open world, I still wont be able to do it with so much color and spell effect exploding on my screen.
Is this going to have a slider in the option menu like every other AAA game out there?
Hey there-
Never really been a crafter in any game, let alone this one. I really need help understanding GW2 crafting system. I get the basic discovery formats, but I dont get some other stuff with crafting.
1. How do I learn or find out how to convert mats from one tier to another? I cant find anything in game that tells me, and the wiki is not very straight forward on how to do this.
2. How do I use the mystic forge to make stuff? I have tried putting items in but it does nothing more than give me a reduce 4 for 1 exotic.
3. I heard that mystic coins in the Mystic Forge give you named rares/exotics, but I dont want to throw exotic gear away as it costs too much. How does this work? I cant find squat on the wiki about this.
4. When talking about making exotic celestial or ascended gear, I have no clue on where to even start.
Basically, where is a condensed guide on how to level crafting? I cant find any condensed or in-game info on how this stuff works and feels like I am simply throwing mats away.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I feel like masteries are like in wow before you pick a talent tree.
The difference is that you have three choices in wow, and in gw2 you have 1 or you can simply just stick with baseline abilities and never pick up your one talent spec…
Not exactly exciting.
I was envisioning them making eight or five specializations that you could pick from with any profession. This is not so much a nod at gw1 as it is 1/3 of what wow offers.
I hope the rest of the xpac is good…
I heard back when ascended first came out that the difference in stats was between 11 and 12% more. Some guy did the calculations.
Someone on this thread said less than 5%.
Anyone care to show me the math? 10%+ is a lot in my book if it is true.
Hey folks,
Now that the HOT is out of the bag, we’re able to update this thread with more details. With the introduction of the new account based mastery system for end-game progression and growth in PvE, we’ll also be re-evaluating our other systems of character progression to ensure they match our over-all pillars and goals for Gw2.
In doing so: we’re going to be removing the current trait unlocking system currently on live and replacing it with a more simplified system that supports where skills-traits-specializations are going in the future. We’ll go into more details between now and the release of HOT on how skills, traits, and specializations will work in the new Gw2 world.
Thank you for all your passionate feedback on this topic – it not only helped our dev team lead to this decision, but has played a large role in helping us define how to build our exciting new account based mastery system for end-game progression in PvE as well.
I was waiting to hear something like this for months. Thanks for posting this, wish you would have said this about 4 to 6 months ago, though. Regardless, at this point thank you.
Anet is a very poor studio when you look at the amount of talent that has left over 2014. They can’t keep employees.
I WAS excited for lots of things. I have basically stopped playing until they add anything that actually adds to the gameplay.
And the reality I have come to accept is that they will not add professions, weapons, new weapon skills, races, or traits in the next twelve months.
So I just check the updates and forums periodically.
This is the meta that Anet wants. The balance team likes where it is, and doesn’t want t make any changes, whether getting away from berserker or adding new skills and professions.
You have the perfect meta, Enjoy!
The take-away that I’m getting is:
“We don’t have time to listen to the community, so maybe if we can get someone to do it for free it will keep people happy, even though the volunteer won’t be able to communicate anything official to the community”.
Yeah, because that will be addressing the problem? I really have no clue what you guys are trying to do anymore, other than anything possible to not answer basic questions like:
expansion planned? new weapons? new profession? race? pvp mode? dealing with zerg and stacking issues?
I do not get why you guys refuse to answer any of this simple stuff, it makes zero sense, and this role will do no better, since they are in no way official and cannot speak officially on anything that the community wants to know.
Gaile said that LS is what they consider meaningful, substantial content.
It’s not helpful to misclassify and say, negatives say anet isnt working on anything. No one says that. What we are saying is thar we want them to work on more than LS, and we want some basic thing in the game that have stagnated to grow.
It amazes me to continue to hear that there are some players that think that two years with the same weapons, weapon skills, et al really don’t think there is room for improvement and to ask anet to tell us that they are working on at least one of these things.
This thread is like asura vs ambient creatures ????
It’s comical that people take “working on stuff” to be anything more than batches of LS updates.
Just look at Gailes posts in the communication thread. Basically she implies thar LS IS the meaningful content that they are and will be delivering. Further, when anything like traits, more skills, more weapons, more races was brought up she re-listed “but don’t you think that LS counts?”.
No, it takes far more than 20 people to deliver LS. Maybe just writers and planners for one chapter that is about to go live.
Actually Vayne, he is correct.
You think it is b/c of other releases when 1- anet says it is their policy and 2- that would mean that there is no good time to release info b/c other games come out with new stuff all the time.
No, we have seen anets hand over the last two years. What we have gotten is what they consider substantial updates. For all of you hoping for races, skills, weapons… Forget it, it is not in the cards for the game.
Oh, and if the CDI is communication, I guess that means we get raids in about 12 months, and they will be just as zergy as everything else pve in this game that they refuse to even attempt to resolve.
