There is no cooldown outside of combat.

There is a cooldown in combat to prevent repeatedly getting the benefits of “On weapon swap” weapon upgrades.

if so, this is a major oversight, because all of those sigils have internal cooldowns so this is unnecessary.

devs? what is the point of this with individual skills having cooldowns? it just locks me into rotations and encourages spamming.. maybe something friendlier – 4 seconds – I could understand

If there wasn’t weapon swap cooldown, they could have just gave you 10 weapon skills on a 15 slots long skillbar. You are supposed to swap weapons both strategically and tactically, but you are not supposed to swap spam.
Also remember, that the ele equivalent is the attunement swap. Do you really want eles to be able to swap attunements without any significant cooldown?

no. eles are fine. mostly because they have 4 attunements. also engis have no cooldown on their kits.

MMORPGs rely on keeping people addicted to mediocre content, so they keep doing mindless and boring tasks over and over for some small and irrelevant reward.

which is a sad thing and should never be the case. gw1 was amazing just because it had none of this.(and only small amounts in eotn)

gw2 is so far from this ideal tho…… :’(

Tinted glasses is strong in this one.

Guild wars 1 had just as much mediocre content as any MMORPG. The only difference is, you idealize guild wars 1, while you hate that Arena net for not making gw 1.5.

Anyways, the problem is with the genre, all mmorpg are mediocre because of their multi-player nature, they have to sacrifice a lot of things to prevent trolls, lag and they have to take into account bad players and computers.

But I suppose it is the cool thing to hate on guild wars 2 on this forum.

no it did not. it’s nice seeing you try tho.

Evasion skills don’t need to be removed. The CD’s need to be increased and the skills themselves made more impactful. A good example of a well degisned evasive skill is ele’s updraft. Its a kockback, swiftness, and evade, but on a long CD. Eles dont spam this skill to evade when endurance is low, they use it for setting up combos and for coutnering burst ect.

It shouldn’t be the case that rangers have 50% endurance regen, High Vigor upkeep, sigilis of energy, and low cd evasive skills. As it is right now evasive skills are used in the small window that you’re not dodge roll spamming. Rather than evasion skills being used in reaction to a read you get off your oppenent they are just used to fill the gaps that you cant dodge.

yisss long cd high impact pls +1+1+1

also vigor on crit traits are ridiculously op.

in other games if you know how to play, you can progress through much, much faster. I’m sad this is not the case here.

Much faster? Than what? My last toon hit 80 in just under 8 hours (total) play time.

example: my first run in dark souls took 48 hours(I took it a bit slow) and I reckon I could do it in under 5 this time, maybe less. there are speedrunners getting 1hr with no exploiting. this is good. what did you do on that char may I ask?

Never played Dark Souls, but as I understand it that isn’t an MMO (which I wasn’t even considering when I addressed the question).

I crafted 99% of it, with boosters of course.

it isn’t. is that relevant? if at least the loot table was fixed then ppl who do hard content(if such thing exists in this game) aka ppl who do not need this slow leveling learning bs would be able to craft it easier. crafting takes a couple hours too afaik so that isn’t exactly the fastest either(with gold costs involved and all..).

How fast is fast? Even without crafting you can hit max in a few days.

about 10x the speed a casual could do it is acceptable in my opinion. the point of leveling is to introduce me to the game, especially with gw2 lacking any sort of challenging content until 80. I could do dungeons I mean, but I’d pref to not be a burden on my team/find a team.

things like higher level mobs giving more exp would be a step in the right direction for example. at the moment, you level slower if you actually seek challenges in pve because of the additional time it takes to do content 4+ levels above you.

edit: also I’m guessing wvw ppl would have a problem with this as well. why restrict access to other classes with things like this?

could experience consumables solve this issue? just like liquid karma, dropping from places like high level fotm would be nice.

free transfers to low tier wvw servers

pullnointer.1476

Even now with paid transfers it’s happening. Dragonbrand used to be an average WvW server, t3-4-5 and just around there. But some high tier guilds decided to move there and before you know it Dragonbrand was in T1. They didn’t do too well in t1 but they got there, and alot of servers aren’t able to say that. Btw if you really need to transfer i’ve heard you can delete all your toons and transfer for free. Doesn’t sound very real but i’m sure you could find the dev post.

yes, because 500 gems isn’t very expensive for a person who’s serious about wvw. however, if time limited to once per three months, yes, you give them a free chance every now and then, but a lot of casuals will be able to transfer as well who will most likely stay.

The thing is though: at high enough level anything will one-shot you regardless of PVT/Zerk gear, so running PVT at high levels is pretty pointless. The best strategy to deal with higher levels is to find ways to mitigate as much damage as you possibly can.

Do people really go full zerker in higher fotm? I’m 30+ but I can’t see how I can survive trash with 2100 armor. I’m not talking about guild group where you get perfect combination of classes and skills. I mostly pug and I’m currently running 6 piece knight armor w/ everything else berserker.

I do and I’m the “anchor” rofl. it’s pretty smooth. I might equip some def gear for ascalon/underwater krait fractals but yeah. pugs too.

Just never play tanky. Personal skill level and teamplay are far more important than gear and, to a certain extent, build. Even AR is overrated; if you can dodge you should be fine. Offense is the best defense.

aware, not sure if lack of gear diversity is good tho.

I’m not talking about wrongfully casting a skill out of reflex… I’m talking about a dev SPAMMING (this is an important piece of my point) a poison field on a gate. By that I mean he repeatedly used the skill and targetted it at the gate using ground targetting. I don’t see why you’re not getting how depressing that behavior is..

to be fair there could have been players the other side of the gate trying to do repairs…..

agony it is! I’m talking about zerk gear being better at tanking fotm than PVT. you rally off the small mobs faster, you take the same dmg from bosses. :’D

You don’t have to be skillful at PvP to design a PvP game. It’s not required. And traditionally many who do design games aren’t great game players, even by their own definition.

Believe what you want. But it doesn’t make it true.

it is required. obviously you’re not going to be at the level of the highest ranked people on the ladder, but if you don’t understand your own game, the decisions you make will be flawed. look at how blizzard makes sure to listen to top players regarding sc2, and they have their kitten together much better than arenanet.

Developers aren’t players and players aren’t developers. They actually take completely different sets of skills. Saying a developer doesn’t play the game well is sort of pointless.

It’s like editors who can’t write. Many editors because editors BECAUSE they can’t write. But that doesn’t mean they can’t edit.

no they don’t take completely different sets of skills. the developer has to know the technical side of game development in addition to the problems a game faces and players know about. he makes an excellent point.
again, an analogue: you can’t fix a car if you have no idea how it works.

I don’t believe the issue is with the actual daily/monthly laurel system. It works just fine for those who are doing open world PvE, which I believe it was intended to reward.

The issue is with ascended items being limited to certain things.

I should be able to get a back piece, an amulet, rings and earrings from any of the following:

- Laurels
- Fractals
- Guild Commendations
- WvW

Playing the way you want to play should then reward access to ALL ascended slots, yes?
Also those players like myself who have 13 level 80s would be able to do all of the above to get our characters fitted out rather than feeling punished for being an alt lover.

The biggest nightmare in this game where something feels like a chore is when I need an ascended back piece, then I need to find a group to go into the hell hole that is the Fractal thingies. As a WvW guild leader, it’s impossible unless I pug, which is far too painful. Give us another way to get back pieces please for the love of turtles.

agreed tho

I understand it’s very difficult to please everyones wishes and stuff, but it is not like they do this the first time. They have many things they could do similar to GW1. Not talking about modes, more about the infrastructure and the features. Additionally they can read a lot of suggestions in this forum, where many of them are really good.
But in the end I’m not working there and just can judge the results.
Also the cooperation between the top-players and the devs could be better than just a SOTG every month. It seems like the critical persons are never participating, while the agreeing ones do regulary.

In a perfect world that would work but it doesn’t anymore. High tier guilds can and will flock to a low tier server and dominate all tiers until it’s t1/2/3. It happened with a few servers so far. Kaineng is the best example.

I don’t see the problem if they limit these free transfers to once in three months for example.

It’s fortunate that those in charge DO see the problems that would happen if they did this.

Did anyone mention how fast you get your dailes done when you WvW??

.

a daily shouldn’t be something you have to actively focus on. just randomly doing whatever you want ingame for 20 minutes should award you with it.

That’s taking ‘casual’ way toooo far….

Maybe if ‘dailies’ directly gave the Crafting materials instead… that these things were built from, I’d say okay… go do your 20 minutes of fuffing about for them b/c atleast Crafting still enhances the game’s economy when everyone participates equally in it… but no, this thread’s gonna get laughed at by most old school MMO’ers… (EDIT: looks like I’m way too late there…. so maybe this was just a troll thread?)

this has nothing to do with casualism or the fact that most games are dumbed down to death nowadays. it has everything to do with forcing players to do even more stupid, time consuming grind for the sake of having ascended gear, which has better stats than exotic and is required for fractals.
