Add NPC’s to fill up the lack of dedicated healers (in the lordroom + other positions). This makes it hard to just push in with 8 ppl and kill everything, as the opponent-team gets supported and healed there.

Make the Guild-Lord tanky (not as weak as on foefire). So even when all the support-NPC’s are down he can stand against 2 at minimum. And about 30-45 secs to kill with full-team.

Implement second objectives which are that important and can’t be ignored. And not only one, there should be several (flag, buffs, capture points etc.). This will avoid 8v8 zergs.

It could work, but is hardly imaginable in the current PvP-Situation we have.

splitting wouldn’t make much sense if it takes an entire team 45 secs to down lord(and quite possibly him regening…) and we want to encourage splitting coz otherwise pvp is way too linear, just like conquest atm(tho at least we have secondary objectives).

Won’t work. You could just rush the enemy lord. Not being able to actually heal makes it impossible to keep the lord alive.
Also, if it’s just a couple “splitters” on lord, you can’t really do much about it except send the equal number back to defend and hope you can kill them. You can’t really send a healer to defend and save the lord.
It won’t work.

I agree unfortunately. Until at least a few targeted healing spells are added to each class, decent organised PvP, let alone GvG is impossible.

I am absolutely not saying we need the trinity, but we do need decent support classes. Currently, healing power is underpowered for just about every class and even if it wasn’t, all healing basically boils down to AoE, which is kind of pathetic.

Tanking with support should remain impossible, but, using your support spells wisely in order to help specific team mates should become more feasible

I’ll be honest, the PvP in GW2 has the potential to be better than GW1 PvP, by quite a large margin.

All they need to do is:

1. Cut down severely on AoE spam – More targeted spells, less AoE and PbAoE

2. Change the condition system such that conditions generally last much longer, are applied less often, are cleansed less often and do more damage per stack.

Coincidentally this would help with lag and would also make the technical problem of having more than 25 stacks of a condition rather moot.

Having 25 stacks of bleed with no cleanse would become an utter death sentence, even more than it is right now. In fact, it should be flat out impossible to stack that many on a target by yourself, no matter your class.

3. Change many passive trait bonuses to active ones (i.e instead of auto cleansing one condition every 10 seconds, you gain a virtue type skill that has the same effect which has a recharge of 10 sec, etc) – We want more control, not less in gameplay.

I think you don’t understand what “GvG” means….

It’s not a mode where entire guilds battle each other, it’s a highly structured game-mode (it was 8v8 in GW1, which should be the absolute highest limit of Players) between two Guilds. It had multiple Maps, objectives, a Ladder and the best games could be observed ingame by the Public.

It is nothing like some ppl out there think; it’s NOT simply a Mode where entire WvW-Style guilds can duke it out.

as someone who played 7000 hours in gw1 with a significant portion of that in gvg, i think i know what gvg is. And gvg in gw2 could have everything you described.

They totally should remake the system so you can have 1 PvE home server, 1 WvW home server and 1 PvP home server(determining your region and the leaderboard).

Then only WvW home server changing should cost gems and be limited. PvE now with guesting already is not a problem.

And sPvP also should be free to switch the regions.

I’d like to point out that conditions and boons get applied so frequently in gw2 that your statement is intellectually bankrupt.

not really no. that’s where I was coming from as well. you see, symbols for example can cover everything very easily and yes, there is a lot of reapplication, therefore we need full strips instead of a skill that tickles the retal from GS on you, or it needs to have very low cd and no cast time, then maybe. the order in which boons get removed is also confusing to people.

Why should warriors have boon stripping? The professions in this ame aren’t meant to have all the same playstyle.

It’s cool that there are more means to counter boons outside of stripping, stealing and converting. However, I do agree that the warrior’s trait is pointless unless it can pierce a little bit through protection.

Here’s an idea for an additional effect to that trait:
“Burst skills ignore the effects of boons on the targets they hit.”

Meaning that they can pass through protection and stability.

The most important thing here i think is that Anet needs to decide if they are gonna try to implement another gametype or they are gonna keep the 3 points conquest model.

The idea i have from watching the foruns and the talk ingame is that almost everyone is in favor of a new gametype, be it either Gw 1 GVG or even deathmatch.

they have said long before release that they will have more gametypes than conquest, it’s not something to keep or just turn 180 degrees and do something entirely different, it’s something they’ve implemented, then didn’t have time to add anything else so they just released like that. I honestly expected them to have at least 3 gametypes and full esports support out by release. oh well.

This is a plague that has been unleashed on Tyria. I’ve had enough of Soldier Warriors joining my groups saying “but i gud dps” but make it so we’re effectively 4 manning the thing. This makes it even worse.

There is only two uses for defensive stats, and that’s to cover a players incompetent kitten as they are too bad to dodge, alternatively your character is an anchor, where you only want Knights anyway as Vitality is objectively bad (and this role should be a Guardian only). Everybody else should be Rampager/Zerk, no ifs, no buts.

If I have the ability to play full berserker and get a dungeon done quickly, why should I have to carry someone who isn’t pulling there weight?

Oh well, back to gear checking I suppose.

You mean because I’m a competent player you expect me to carry the incapable ones? Not happening my friend, why should I spend twice as long inside a dungeon than I need to because everybody else isn’t up to par? Lemme guess, you want to make GL a 10 minute ranged fight too instead of a 1:30 melee?

It’s definitely a good job I have a like-minded, sensible guild and usually only have to pug 1 player or maybe 2.

I agree the minor change from Soldier’s is silly. Especially because as players become more skilled they tend to rely less on toughness/vitality and prefer more power (and this is a step toward more health).

I’d like to see a stat combination of power, condition damage, condition duration. Probably wouldn’t out-DPS Berserker’s, but it’d sure be fun.

what is the point of the new gear(called sentinel afaik) that gives vit, power, toughness? it’s the exact same as soldiers, except vit is the primary stat.. afaik I’ve heard them say ppl wanted this??! what about some combination that’s actually new and useful?

edit: also in spvp we should have better accessibility to whatever gear we desire. I’m thinking of a vendor that lets you make a trinket with -whatever- attributes and you can have a predetermined amount of points on it.

wat is this. afaik this is the best dungeon in gw2 yet with arah being a close second(mostly because of lupi tbh). could be harder, but the encounters are fun and generally challenging. it’s polised. can we not have this gone in 2 weeks?

edit:fotm isn’t half bad either, tho the encounters could use some improvement.

Who will be here when all is done and said? The PvPers… so you should probably start catering to them… as in implementing features that existed in GW1 years ago.

I don’t necessarily think that is true at all. I think right now more people are still PvEing than PvPing 8 months after release. Also PvE is still more popular in GW1.

Instead, they should strike a balance between the two, not cater to one or the other

Obviously, look at the mess that PvP is. You think people Will go to conventions, swarm by the thousands, to watch someone do a dungeon run? Me neither.
PvP tends to outlast PvE… that’s the general idea.

Even at the height of gw1 popularity, PvE was what kept the game running. After prophecies they became shifting focus to PvE.

Its gonna cost gems. And it’s good that it costs gems.
The CA’s costing gems opens up room for money making in spvp: imagine you rent an arena, if it gets popular and a of people use it you can put up a message that says “support me with gold so i can buy time tokens!” and then you can keep the profit for yourself. Also, it will make spvp profitable and worth putting resourses into, and (atleast i hope so) it will increase spvp developing speed.

oh buddy! Engineers will gladly trade you 30% recharge for your 12k esviserates or 18k+ killshots ANYDAY!

The engineer-specific attribute is bad, but not quite as useless as a 3% damage increase. And really, the only reason the engineer trait is bad is that most of our decent toolbelt skills are un-useful. 30% CD reduction is actually quite nice in a power-nade build because of barrage, but who wants to be able to throw elixirs 30% faster? No one.

Warriors, on the other hand, gain literally nothing from their specific attribute. If a warrior used eviscerate every time it was up, having the 3% damage boost might count for a total increase in damage over time of maybe .4%. In other words, nothing.

He’s not wrong, and this has been discussed to death in the warrior forums. Secondly, why would you have to nerf everyhing? If you were to buff brawn back to 30% the only skills that would need nerfing would be killshot/eviscerate.

Secondly, any replacement for brawn would be welcome. We’re the only class with a trait line with only one stat (3% increase on two skills might as well not be there). It doesn’t have to be damage, it could be -30% cast time on burst skills, +30% adrenaline gain, anything at all that makes a difference. I don’t think warriors would care what it was replaced with provided it did something other than give killshot an extra 300 damage.

lol you’re funny, i guess CoF P1 farm will do that to your brain, if its not pure damage is worthless.. but you really need to think about balance. if they give back the 1% they will have to take damage away from most skills forcing people into glassier builds, but then again. i wouldn’t mind the warrior being easier to kill js ..

Give the in game display frame limiter a shot. Set it to 60 to reduce the fps wild swings. Just make sure you turn off Vsync if you choose to use the frame limiter. Use the Auto-Detect settings preset if you have older generation hardware. A 59 fps to 40 fps change should still give you smooth video with recent generation CPUs/APUs/GPUs.

I’m mostly fine on maxed settings, thing is this shouldn’t happen, I also cap it, but they should try harder to have it roughly the same everywhere so a couple areas don’t make you lower your settings. game looks nice, but not so nice to require this much gpu power..

what they should do is implement a way to change the stats on your gear anytime, very cheap. aka max 1 gold for a complete gear stat change(does not include sigils/runes/jewels/gems obviously).

sometimes I get periods of an hour for example where the right mouse button doesn’t register in the game properly and turning the camera is a pain in the kitten. no, it’s not my mouse.

But shaders/textures is what makes the biggest difference in graphics-.- I can’t set those two to anything lower than High.

Aions graphics were definitely more complex, and I did get good fps there. But that game is a huge resource hog… I read from wiki I think that GW2’s engine was a highly modified version of gw1. Granted this was probably cheaper, but in the long run they may have decreased the ability to optimize it very much beyond what it is. I mean could you imagine FFXIV using the same setup as FFXI…. But since you played Aion as well you probably remember when they did the hmm.. 2.0? Update or maybe 3.0 where they upped the graphics engine or something? Was that to an entirely different or upgraded engine? Or just a tweak? I ask because I wonder if GW2 could do the same. Not trying to get too much aion-age in the thread, but I think it is still relevant http://gameguide.na.aiononline.com/aion/Advanced+Graphics+Engine shows the type of advanced options the other NCsoft game had. PS from reading looks like it was 2.5 patch.

As time has gone on im glad they are sticking with one competitive mode for pvp….I thought the same as you did….but to me, I liken it to League of Legends….they started with summoners rift…that to this day is their biggest esport scene of their game and any other game in the world….their esports didnt kick off at any level until 2 years into the game roughly…

With all that in mind I can see their decision for conquest mode. Victory condition not based on player skill or build is important. Now what I refer to this is abstract but ultimately no matter what you build or how good you are at it. You win via controlling positions and gaining points…no 2 teams have this awkward stand off and lack of engagement. ( think arenas from wow and how they sucked to watch. ) Conquest mode forces things to move along.

What they DO need is to shake up the " meta ". And for the love of god I hope they eventually realise that public test servers would do them a world of good. Players are far better testers than developers.

I like the way the powersuit / ice ele boss works more because it doesn’t become a class-specific battle where some classes are “bad” because they have fewer accessible interrupts. Anyone can pull the levers, and anyone can interrupt with any damage if he’s superheated.

Lastly, how would any of this work with bosses being unshakable? Defiant stacks would make this sort of thing really dumb (because some class comps couldn’t come up with enough interrupts to knock off all stacks before the dude heals again). We couldn’t just not give him unshakable, either, because he would just get CC chained into next week in that case by tailored teams.

all classes have a reasonable amount of cc that can interrupt(fear, knockback, push, daze, stun etc…)

I have already answered the second question. unshakable and defiant stacks are saved and removed when he starts healing, when he gets interrupted or finishes healing, his defiant stacks and unshakable are put back.

what do you guys think about a boss that you constantly have to interrupt to kill? he could heal himself for more than you can dps unless you interrupt. kinda like dredge fractal endboss, but with interrupts. he could be ccable while he uses his heal, but otherwise have defiant stacks like normal. I would actually prefer this mechanic on a boss with phases like lupi but oh well
