and the fps is still kitten :’D
I’m trying to get my dungeon master and maybe try to get into high level fotm.
That being said, pretty much every mmorpg in recent history suffer from huge population decline after it’s initial release.
I actually think GW2 is one of the few that have a stable population. Being B2P probably is the one crucial reason why GW2 is still holding on it’s player.
AFTER IT IS INITIAL RELEASE
STILL HOLDING ON IT IS PLAYER
and this deserves its own thread
^ Actually GW2 is more balanced than in GW1. But that shows you that balancing isn’t everything if the basic combat mechanics are boring.
you had more build variety in gw1 tbh…
No
yes.
Mana/Potions is a old outdated mechanic.
*wastes bag space
*slows combat
*Removes some skill from the game. Player who buys most mana/potions has the advantage.
*Unneeded gold sink!
*opening bag during combat. uses more GUI space.Add new types of team buffs instead.
I will proceed to kill myself now.
Truth hurts, I know.
:D I laughed, I must admit xD

Except not every character in LoL has a mana system? A lot of them have alternative resources or no resource at all. Are you saying those characters are less strategic than those who have mana?
yes.
So, strategically, what does this give us? Basically, if all the skills stay the way they are, you would fight until you run out of mana, then be forced to disengage. You can’t keep fighting because you can’t use skills anymore. This turns into a “whoever runs out of mana first wins” sort of deal, essentially. Resource management becomes the metagame.
no.
it IS brilliant. we need to incentivize not being bad. but yh glory should be able to provide just enough gems to unlock a couple slots by the time you are ~r20
As much as you’d like to think that would change things for the better…
I’m sorry, but it’s an EXTREMELY kitten train of thought.Few people take GW2 PvP seriously.
That isn’t an issues based on in game money.
Few people that play GW2 PvP well care about gems.
That isn’t an issues based on accessibility.PvP’ers don’t flaming ‘want to be bad’ at PvP’ing unless someone throws a PvE currency at them.
doesn’t matter whether they want it. we give it to them. others will want it then. it is essential to make top pvp players filthy rich in a game that wants to encourage competition.
please stop commenting about WoW’s and similar mana systems. they are obviously bad.
Maybe sell character slots for glory? They’re already selling guild backpacks.
^
huge gem prizes(10k+) for monthly tournament winners tbh.(when they get introduced)
…two teams sit on a vast ammount of gems whereas the rest WILL HAVE TO go farm pve. Brilliant idea sir. In the past few days I had to go farm pve i loathe so much to get 25g for the 9th character slot. It gets really tiresome so its last time i did that (and i wont buy gems next time either). Nobody will spend 10e per one character slot when regular pve players can have it basically for free.
glory -> gems

can we have the earth animation toned down a little(earthquake animation for example would be better imo) and the lightning animation made a little bit more visual?
huge gem prizes(10k+) for monthly tournament winners tbh.(when they get introduced)
why do some bosses have 12+ defiant stacks in dungeons? makes control effects completely UP if they weren’t enough already with their reduced durations
With or without mana – it is the same. Resource system like the one thieves have? Maybe a good idea, so every class has its own. But mana, like AION or WoW? Whats the difference with or without? Oh, no, I am out of mana, I need to refile…And? What new to the game does it bring?
refer to gw1
it could be raining skins at 40+ tbh. it’s random and account bound so might as well
will a mana system ever be introduced? I feel cooldowns only are inadequate
No, at some point it was in the game but they scraped the idea.
they scrapped the original mana system and released early before having a chance to introduce a new one

bump for justice. norn t3 cultural is way slootier
Call it an option all you want, it will never see the light of day.
then say “I don’t think this is at the top of the priority list and I’d rather see XYZ first” instead of “kitten you noob kitten you want pve gear in pvp? here’s a grand list I’ve composed of what anet has ever said about gear in pvp. also kitten you”
this is why we can’t have nice things…

kitten game controls up few minutes. this makes the game unplayable.
god. it’s an OPTION. why do you people have to oppose everything? if people want to do this with their custom arenas, LET THEM. IT’S AN OPTION.
Game is pretty balanced around top builds, but this is NOT balance.
This is very bad game design, in a game were it should be pretty easy to balance ( few skills, trait tiers, fixed amulets etc etc).
Balance in GW2 is a total failure if you see it from this perspective: a game that was DESIGNED to have good build diversity from its core thanks to strong restrictions ( aforementioned trait tiers, few skills etc ) fails in delivering said build diversity.
a good example is the thief: it has a good build ( that has become quite underperforming due to nerfs when compared to other classes) in D/P burst + shadow refuge-shadowstep-sin signet while EVERYTHING ELSE ( traits, other U-skills, weapons) are utterly trash.
I would never call this crap “balance”.
^+1
weapons are incredibly easy to balance because – again – they are fixed, yet most are just completely subpar.
dungeon armor is very visible in LA where everyone is all the time with all the npcs lined up, I just feel that skins that don’t even come in exotic versions(cultural, some karma merchants, vigil etc) people don’t even know about or consider unless they pvp(locker)
Seems like somebody here never had seen how was the scaling of GW1 Pvp titles…. :p
Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
allow us to mystic forge fractal weapons
4 weapons = fractal weapon claim token for your choice of weapon
problem is solvedhell I would even be happy with 4 weapons = random fractal weapons
I have around 35 fractal weapons and only about 1/3 I can use
sounds legit
you can’t understand an analogy can you? since gw2 forces combat as you’ve said, the dice roll effect is the one that’s mostly prevalent. why do you feel the need to oppose this so strongly?
No. Terrible idea. This has no point as your build is from the same possible selections as your opponent all the way from skills down to equipment. How on earth do you think this is a necessity?
simple. uncertainty promotes safe gameplay. safe gameplay is boring. I’m not sure what your third sentence is trying to convey.
Proof that uncertaintiy promotes safe play? Thats a pretty wild claim with absolutely no proof to back that up.
Third sentence stands on its own. Every player has the option to select from the exact same pool of classes, skills and equipment. It is up to the player then learn the popular builds to be ready to face any possible matchup. They dont need to be spoon fed what the opponent is playing like a child.
you ever played league of legends? let’s say they removed the ability to view enemy summoner spells. people would play more defensively, because you wouldn’t know what the enemy is capable of. committing when you are highly uncertain of the outcome because you don’t have enough information is like rolling dice. therefore, until you find out their skills, you minimize this effect by playing safe, aka not committing.
why do you have to call this spoonfeeding? it’s a simple feature that’d be useful to have.
bump
Well in Fifa they allow 11vs11, so gw2 should do it as well. My local shop sells nice bacon cobs, ANET should offer some sort of bacon based bread affair.
sc2 is a recognized esport game, you might wanna learn a thing or two from blizzard.

Vitality, toughness, healing? I’m not sure I’d like to see claustrophobic points on Niflhel and Khylo even more clogged up than it is now by bunker engineers, guardians and eles. That, and invulnerable, constantly-regenerating beastmaster build, killing people with … pets, refusing himself to die. No, no, no! Just NO.
again, you can’t balance a game around restricting gear
I was pretty stoked when I started playing to see EviL and WM getting into GW2. They were the best guilds in GW1 so I knew they would have some crazy tactics and builds running and I couldn’t wait to see what they would do.
So I actually get the chance to face them and… lets just say GW2 isn’t the same as GW1.
I uploaded some screens so you can see my actually fanboyism and then the resulting sadness. No one on my team had heard of these guys and I talked them up like we were about to get stomped and well..
srsly I don’t get this
edit: is it the fact that they don’t have korean language in the game?
(edited by pullnointer.1476)
Is the game out in korea?
It hasn’t released in Korea yet no. The only major territories we’ve released in so far are US and Europe. We do have a few folks in Korea playing, but they’re getting US/Euro versions of the game from vendors outside of Korea to play early.
NOT RELEASING IN KOREA? ESPORTS? what is this……
just like in spectator mode. ppl run pretty similar builds atm, but with better balance, this is a necessity. you don’t have protoss getting +1 zealot armor as an invisible buff in sc2, rather you know everything about the opponent as the game starts and you have to scout afterwards.
some stat combination are not available on purpose, because they would be too powerfull… but no idea if they plan to add some new
that’s ridiculous. you can’t balance a game around that.
bump for justice
hi
ps im on far shiv if you care
if I done it on one character, I think I can handle it on another. nobody is gonna level 2 fractals, but the variety would be nice.
There are a couple things wrong here such that a modern gamer reading the OP recognizes, immediately, a glaring non sequiteur.
Almost anything of value in the game requires a good deal of grinding/farming. I’m not saying this is wrong in itself—simply present. I’m fine with optional grinds. From the standpoint of time to acquisition this requires more than ‘casual’ activity. Also, the addition of vertical progression means that you must ‘keep up’. If you walk away for an extended period of time, when you come back, you will be at a lower power level than other players. The incentive here is a strong, coercive (that’s the hook in VP), reason to not walk away. By definition, contrary to a comment above, it is a mandatory, required grind. It still mystifies me that there are gamers who don’t have a basic handle on this common gaming element.
GW2 is not unique at all among modern games in this regard, and it is most certainly not ‘casual’ in this regard.
Fair enough, but any gear past exotic isn’t needed to complete content except for agony resistance in Fractals. Even rares are good enough to do difficult dungeons if you’re good enough. What i’m saying is most “grinds” are optional. Every MMO will have a grind. In a theme park MMO, there will never be enough content for everyone. Some people will consume it all, and at rapid speeds.
GW2 provides the optional grind, and while many people say that ascended is better and therefore it is needed, 100% of the PvE in the game can be done easily without it, so it is not necessarily needed. This applies to legendaries as well. It is optional. I am a casual player, but have obtained some items that are hard to get, but at my own pace so i have not felt the grind. This is all my opinion of course.
You guys do know that it’s optional on every other game too?
legendaries are optional, ascended is maybe, exotic is not
this thread is very offensive to me because it uses the word “kittened”!
try using free camera in the options tab, this will let you keep the camera view of your left click while moving around, and will bring you back to normal with the right click. Hope that helps!
I already do, doesn’t help me in combat.
They have stated they have never banned a player for using Combat mode, and that macros that do not bind multiple keystrokes to a single action are ok.
isn’t the definition of a macro a “script that binds multiple keystrokes to a single button”?
I can’t say. real prize is a thing but game play is another thing. I longly talked with Pyo(danjang) and he’s agreed that game is unbalanced,…we don’t like gameplay that much. Then I can’t tell u if we come back as Im not entire EvIL manager.
do you find conquest boring or the core gameplay? now that there are leaderboards, you guys can at least have decent teams to play against.
Lux dude your joke was bad really… —’
We stopped gw1 3/4years ago.2) No korean own server but game is released yeah..
3) No we quit Gw2 4 months ago and no come back for a while. Sometimes we log on. We are actually waiting for next games as Neverwinter or Black desert online.
4) wot is a mmofps so… Sc2 or gw aren’t same gameplay…
5) Some WM guys i know stopped gw2 for same reason as It’s not competitive as they wanted to. Same for iQ,iB,EW,rawr,LuM,… said to the top.
6)# of koreans Decrease
There are custom arens now; you guys NEED TO come back and show us how to really play this game!
not yet
would you kindly please consider making the game controls more user friendly? currently you have to aim around a lot especially as melee. for example in gw1 you had autoattack so your camera didn’t always have to face your back while your character could face the enemy. I hope my tone of voice is acceptable, but if you don’t like it, I’d gladly add more flowers to my post. I’d also like to suggest a doubling of gw2 forums moderator pay.
I am really surprised by the negative comments and complete lack of constructive criticism.
If people think that 15v15 is too much, 10v10 (2 teams of 5) is perhaps better?
It is entirely possible to heal others (including guild lord) in this game by dropping a water field and spamming blast finishers. If necessary, healer npc similar to those in gw1 could be added to help keep guild lord up, or the lord could be given a self heal.
Making the guild lord a champion or “purple” level mob would make it near impossible to beat with anything less than 3-5 people.
I think a lot of the negativity is stemming from people’s negative views of WvW. When you enter wvw solo or without voice comm, a lot of it can seem mindless and confusing until you play with organized people on voice comm. Huge 40 v 40 zerg fights can be intensely tactical and organized, utilizing terrain and specific skills.
Watch this organized zerg get wiped repeatedly by Red Guard:
that’s hardcore organized action right there bro
ps.: 10v10 is 2 teams of 10 players, not 5 :’D
