I’m just getting tired of the ol’ one two combo of SR and Spite. Narrows my options and with the copious amounts of might being thrown around I often have 15-25 stacks anyway. I use SR and curses.
Am I the only one a little aggravated that we can’t glide in the old maps? I can’t help feeling like it wouldn’t really hurt anything, beyond maybe making a few jumping puzzles slightly less annoying.
I’m with you. I hope it happens and honestly I can’t imagine why they wouldn’t eventually.
Yeah I have a monster PC and I crash once or twice a play session. It’s only about 50% of the time during an event. Most of the time I’m just playing with a few buddies and it happens.
Hahaha feels, bro.
Would do unspeakable things for capes in this game. This game is perfect for capes!
It literally takes me about an hour or two to unlock an elite spec…
My mastery level is 20…. I still have a LONG WAY to level masteries and guess what… I have my elite spec unlocked to do it.
Not sure why people are complaining. I’m really glad every thread like this is met with LOADS of people who disagree and who are enjoying the game. I’m LOVING HoT. Whiners can suck it.
I use Valkyrie gear w rune of elementalist and sinister trinkets and it does good power and condi dmg. I just like that it’s flexible. I tried to use scepter/dagger but it’s so slow and staff is just too useful.
My issue with scepter is that you want to camp it. I can see it being good with epidemic for aoe but staff is a very flexible weapon for us regardless of build. It’s not the best but it’s the easiest to use.
Ah yes. Well at least it’s not on demand anymore. Just walk out of it.
I’m guessing the spam is coming from the birds. Otherwise it’s a much longer interval between blinds and you should be fine. If it is the bird he’s gotta be close to you and if you’re attacking the Druid then you should also be cleaving the pet, too. Birds die pretty quick but you have to keep pressuring the Druid, too.
I avoid this problem by never running staff because I prefer to use weapons that involve even the slightest bit of brain use and give ,e at least a shred of enjoyment in using.
You just used YSiM on me IRL
I’ve been using a build with dhuumfire and carrion gear. I use runes of balthazar but that’s just because duration-wise and application-wise burning is the condi reaper needs most help applying and maintaining. Basically, a mob with enough health should at some point in the fight be taking 3-4k poison ticks, 2k bleed ticks and 800-1k chill ticks and 5-6k burn ticks. I use staff and GS(for flavor and I love GS4 so frickin’ much). This facilitates the playstyle of reaper more because scepter just doesn’t cover enough targets to satisfy me. Cleaving is love.
Okay, i don’t see these 2k bleeds happening. 2k bleed is like 10~14 stacks depending on your condition damage. But how are you applying it being in Reaper Shroud most of time? Just asking bcz curious.
I don’t take offense to questions being asked of me. haha
I use curses and weakening shroud. Before shroud Staff2-5 then 2 again. Enter shroud and decimate def starts working and generating more bleeds with barbed precision. The bleeds aren’t SUPER consistent but I usually have 1500-2000 bleed going. I can also start in GS for 12stacks of vuln to start.
I think 5% base crit chance, plus fury and at least 10% crit from Target the weak make 35% crit and if vuln caps off 85%. So barbed precision doesn’t feel nearly as pointless in a non-prec build.
I know scepter is more efficient but I’m just not a fan of the single target bleed stack and I don’t run epidemic. (although considering it)
Sorry if any of that sounds stupid.
Disclaimer: I’m not pro bro
So no spite in your build means no perma 25 might if your party can’t provide it. (most of pugs can’t)
And your chill application comes from Shroud 5 and Chilling Nova? Idk if that can provide perma chill, can it?
No I’m usually running around with a herald so I neglect my own might generation and yeah also chill from blind.
That’s the problem with chill for us and it stacking to 5. If someone entirely replaces your chill then you deal no damage with it. Kind of like old school bleed and burning stack cap. Kind of crappy.
I feel like the trait should be reworked to have the application of chill apply a unique debuff that deals damage with intensity and has a personal cap to regulate its DPS. An have that for terror, too.
I also dropped BM for reaper and it’s amazing. Dhuumfire becomes a very solid option with reaper shroud autos cleaving quickly.
It isn’t just that one. I have friends who can’t get random different HP completions!

Right, the point I was making to them was that you have to consider the most convenient, lazy option and that will always be WPing.

Upon clicking the link, the thought of john cena entered my head…
Also, thanks for posting. I now know I don’t care to get those shoulders. haha No appeal to me.
People already get to places they shouldn’t be. And i can’t imagine why it would be that difficult to disable it near a JP. This really isn’t that far fetched. lol
It may be easier said than done to disable it on certain parts of a map but have it enabled on other parts.
Rework all the maps. Give all objects collision. When you’re next to a JP you get a “Grounded” boon…..keeps the wings from being deployed…..it really can’t be that hard to make a boon like that….it would operate no different then costumes not allowing combat.
BOOM first person ever on my side… Even my whole dang guild is like, “Nuuuu impossible, gold sink in WP travel, places you can’t reach, blaaaa”

I can’t say whether it is or it isn’t. But I think one of the coolest parts of the new content is the gliding and I thought it would be neat if we could use it anywhere. Unfortunately, it seems as if I’m the minority on this. Shame.

Why would they be called “elite” if they weren’t stronger?
Elite:A select group that is superior in terms of ability or qualities to the rest of a group or society.
I fail Engrish though.
They’re elite in the same way skills can be elite in GW2 and were elite in GW1. You can have only one of them equipped at a time. They’re “superior” to normal specializations in that they grant access to equipment and skills not normally available to the class.
This. /thread
How come it’s always “<thing that disappoints me about this game> Wars 2”. lol
Condition Wars 2
Fashion Wars 2
Flax Wars 2
Casual Wars 2
Berzerkermeta Wars 2
Edit: Thought of another
Thingsiwantbutcantgetrightnowbecausereasons Wars 2
Come on… it feels so good even if it’s just off of small inclines.
You know you want to, Anet….
… please? xD
Additionally: Do this and get rid of those dumb 50% reduced fall damage traits and put something a bit more interesting there.
I would recommend condi reaper/necro based solely on how much I adore condition-based builds… lol.
Having said that, MM(of any stat variety) and condi builds are really really potent atm and both are a great choice.
My only issue with MM builds in pve is water… /sad day

Tell him to respawn then… Tired of all the dead people making my bosses harder for no reason!
Wonder if 10 sec stun chains are ok ?
Where are you getting 10 seconds from? Even if you combined all 5 stuns available to Engineer (which is impossible and trying 4 is impractical) you do not obtain that amount of Stun, also assuming you irresponsibly ran without some form of Stun Break and opted to eat an entire buffet of Stuns. I think this is a display of ignorance that needs correcting. What you are most likely describing is the use of Hammer 5 in conjunction with Hammer 3, which is a 1s stun followed by 3s of daze IF you allow yourself to be hit by the first skill AND the 3 subsequent leaps by standing INSIDE or near enough to the lightning field that the leap still gets the daze effect. The lightning field produced by Hammer is not an instant cast unstoppable event that occurs, simply dodge/block when you see the Engineer raise his Hammer towards the heavens, as it is quite literally that obvious of an animation. If you require assistance on how to combat something, simply ask rather than making outlandish claims for the sake of QQ.
Dude that’s too much work for a casual player. Nerf inc.
wonder if core necro having 0 respectable access to stability is OK
they got plague form i guess
HE SAID RESPECT, MAN!
Why can’t plague form be like the human elite… God it would be so bad ask.
If it’s not SUPER easy to understand then it will get nerfed. Lol
Also pre trapping has its downsides… Pets trigger them. Whenever my pre traps get triggered by pets I always feel REALLY embarrassed and I don’t know why… Like I had a dirty secret and you found out about it. XD
I don’t play DH but in DO enjoy all of the crying about all of this direct damage stuff since nothing has changed with conditions and everyone just kind of moved on. Hahaha
the problem with thieves is that.. they can’t do anything against wells, traps and medi guardians (condi thief might have higher chances against them though).
While classes like warrior can just use endure pain and berserker stance so that he can tank the wells and traps for his team. Mesmer also can use illusion to trigger those wells and traps.
Thief literally has nothing against wells and traps. D/D thieves can vault and dodge around, but once he land on that stacked traps and wells..hes done for, but classes like warrior can just stand on it for a few second.
They can… Not stand in them? No good player is going to stand in that crap even WITH immunities. Why would they waste those cooldowns on something repositioning could handle?
I get it. Events contest waypoints. But it is ridiculous how often waypoints are contested at certain times of the day because there aren’t any people doing the events.
/end rant
God. Even if you had something good already all of you sheep wouldn’t even know it because it is just in your nature to complain apparently.
They could give Thief a button that says “Kill Thing” and everyone would just complain that the gameplay is too narrow now and you have such few options for builds.
/end caring
It is boring. They’re being rewarded for the Maplestory level of boredom of grinding that one spot for hours.
Like, I want to do it… But i can’t bring myself to do something I KNOW will make me experience levels of boredom i have never in my life before! Hahaha
I’m using deathly chill on my carrion build but now I’m having second thoughts. Haha
Is this how terror works, too?
I think people crap on GS for no real reason honestly. The only thing that is really problematic right now is the aftercast on 2, especially with it cancelling out the CD return, and how abysmally slow the AA is, to the point you’ll never really chain it. 3/4/5 are all plenty strong, and 2 is strong when it lands (which is the point, its an AoE that hits harder than backstab by a significant amount), its really just the awful AA that hurts it, and the fact that people expect a slow AoE focused weapon to be good 1v1.
Greatsword has an obvious niche: teamfighting. Don’t expect it to be strong outside of its uses and its just fine. And then obviously its trait is garbage but I can’t blame that on GS.
I honestly love it almost solely for GS4. Lol
WoD is bad, and I can’t honestly see a reason to use it except maybe some niche spots. CPC has far stronger shutdown potential, with a longer period of anti-melee, plus anti-projectile, and on a shorter CD, with weakness being the only drawback to not make it strictly better in every way.
I agree. I currently use CPC and the uselessness of WoD is ever more obvious when you use greatsword with reaper. I think as it stands I might use it as is if the CD were dropped to around 30s base. I’m not a fan of the well trait at all.
So they’re both blind utility… But one is on a much lower cooldown and they both nearly do the same thing… Am I missing something? That’s a serious question. I honestly feel like there’s something I’m just not seeing here that warrants Well of Darkness to have a 50s base cooldown?
Thanks for any explanations in advanced!
Well scepter 3 applies torment…
…that’s it, right?
Might want to throw those on a Reve. haha
Where did you read this? (haven’t bothered to search.)
I think Blighter’s Boon was changed in the beta (specifically from BWE1 to BWE2). It used to give 1% lp per boon application, and now it’s once per spell/blastfield/whatever. This was, itself, due to Reapers gaining full life force out of combat (or in combat) in seconds, and healing to full from whatever in Shroud just as fast.
I don’t really have anything to back this up aside from personal observations, so take this with a grain of salt.
That’s possible. I played reaper in BWE1? And again in 3. But I’m just now noticing this… However, I didn’t really play with blighters boon in bwe3 as I was trying the condi route.
Idk, I can see why in SOME circumstances it might be really powerful (group setting of any kind) but I feel like it’s just not quite as good this way. Ah well.
I’ve been getting healed 3x ~135 when using RS auto attack on enemies under 50% (1 might from reaper’s might, 2 might from siphoned power)
Right that makes sense. It’s three different triggers of might. But what I’m referring to is when one trigger or one skill/ability gives more than 1 stack of anything all at once. You seem to only benefit from the application and not each stack of the application.
I was partying with a buddy who is using Herald and upon using One with Nature I only receive 1% LF with Blighter’s Boon on. Is it intentional that blighter’s boon only counts this application once? I’m not sure how OP getting like 20% LF from that skill really would be.
Thanks!
Kind of wish it had half the ICD
Loving reaper. Specially condi reaper
Yup condi reaper is wonderful and makes great use of carrion gear, chill, poison, bleeding and burning from dhuumfire. I use soul reaping, curses and reaper. Carrion gear. Scepter/dagger and staff or GS
Getting one shot isn’t challenging. Especially if there aren’t any dodge queues to avoid said hit, like on Legendary Wyvern in VB. When it does the fly by attacks that leave the acid on the ground, if you get hit by the fly by, you instantly go down, then die from the acid. No chance to even recover. The fly by has no tell, no marker, nothing. It just happens, and you have to be lucky it doesn’t target you, otherwise to bad, so sad, dead.
You CAN see it coming but you have to also be paying attention to the sky. For the few times I don’t see him flying towards me I often burst out into laughter as I see my characters face melt to the floor HAHAHAHAH. Great times.
Dieing for the first time ever in World PvP against two or three mobs… It is awesome. I actually have to dodge as a Necro in PvE now.
Glad to see some people actually enjoy the new stuff lol
Yeah I love/hate it as well. Walked into VB and immediately engaged two vets and some “pocket raptors” and was met with — HOLY kitten DO THESE HIT HARD — barely making it out alive. Since then I realize zerk gear isn’t a great idea and I LOVE that I can consider other stat types in world pve without feeling ashamed that I don’t instant 1shot everything.
The hatred I have comes from my age long mental battle with being knocked down in video games and how it seems to be a freakin theme in HoT!!!!!&&)&@$?
With my text box in /g2 when linking an item, it defaults to linking into /G instead. Tried by straight linking and also by opening the text box and then linking. Both result the same.
