Do not use your gold with the expectation to make profit, because it’s very highly likely you will end up with nothing to show for your investment. Don’t gamble what you aren’t more than happy to lose.

In all honesty, I could see this falling in to the Sylvari way of life, if it isn’t already. The Sylvari have a very fluid view on sexuality and identity as it is so it could fit with their lore.
The main issue truly is the whole just having a trans character for the sake of having a trans character would be pointless without a meaningful attachment to the character and their struggles.
Unless a meaningful narrative can come from it, it should not be pursued just for the sake of having a trans character in the game.
If you could come up with some way in which a trans character could forward the narrative of the living/personal/etc story while also having their own backstory to tell that isn’t just cheap pandering to the LGBT community, then I’m all for it.
Do not, however, just demand that a trans character be put in to the game for the sake of representation of the trans community, because that just cheapens things and devalues the immersiveness and narrative of Tyria

I’m all for equality and have been a lifelong egalitarian, but what would be the point? Why mire a game in political controversy unless it can forward the narrative in a meaningful way?
Tyria is a world full of prejudice and conflict with little room for luxury and no precedent of surgical procedures at all that I am aware of. Popping a transgender NPC in to the game would make absolutely no narrative sense and bring nothing at all to the game except a giant plot hole

GW2, despite it’s flaws, really is an utterly amazing game that has no equal. I’m so glad I let myself get convinced to buy it.
The best MMO I’ve ever played, and the best people I’ve ever played with, on top of a pretty solid story and (mostly) relatable characters you can truly connect with. Can’t wait to see where Heart of Thorns and beyond takes us

So Light armour (specifically, elementalists) have access to several headgears that “hover” in front of the forehead.
In first person view, these headgears (specifically, the elementalist starter gear, in my specific instance, the Stone Eye) are showing up in front of the camera, moving as the character’s head moves.
In my case this is even happening when headgear is hidden

Hmm, this part makes me wonder: So, how does it work? When you first invoke Legendary Centaur Stance, you’ll have only one available skill. This skill will summon the tablet to appear next to your character. After you bring the tablet into the world, your skill bar will fill with the five legend-based skills, all of which manipulate the tablet.
The “You will only have 1 skill until you activate tablet” was what I’m thinking is odd. What is the skill? Where is it placed? Is it our heal slot? Utility? What happens to the heal slot when you are in the stance but haven’t activated the tablet yet? If you don’t have a heal until you activate the tablet, it’ll make it extremely important not to camp the Ventari stance until you absolutely need it.
Just seems very odd to me.
my suspicion is that the summoning and repositioning of the tablet will be on skill 1 (ground targetted AoE), with 2-5 being the other weapon skills

given the spec is a support spec, I doubt it will have high damage.
People seem to be highly resistant to the notion that there’s something other than Berserker DPS in the game.
Given that all the specs thus far have a very specific role, is it really outside the realm of possibility that HoT’s content will be designed with more than DPS berserker mindless pew pew involved?
I strongly believe that they are giving us these specific roles because we will be in need of them with HoT

I think with regards to the differing use of a weapon, it’s a hint that some of the other specialisations may utilise weapons in a unique manner. we already see this with ele daggers, mesmer GS and Necro axe. Perhaps tempest will have ranged sword skills, or warrior could have ranged dagger skills (knife throwing anyone?).
Those are weak examples, but you get the point. I feel like we’ll see more “non-traditional” weapon uses with future specs

I’m curious to see how many more League of Legends inspired mechanics we will see in the specs. We’ve seen wind wall (Yasuo), displacement (Leblanc, Ekko), and now an entire legend pretty much directly inspired by the champion Orianna and her play style.
I for one predict a lot of fun for me playing Ventari legend, as I absolutely love Orianna’s tactical positioning style of play in League of Legends.

Orianna was what first popped in to my mind too, after reading that section of the blog. It seems like an interesting mechanic in GW2’s combat system
I still want to know which of the developers is a fan of League of Legends. more and more I am seeing HoT mechanics directly taken from/inspired by League. The wind wall on revenant (Yasuo), the displacement on Chronomancer (Leblanc, Ekko), and now the ventari tablet, clearly based on Orianna and her ball mechanic

I use the R7 240 and my fps with everything but AA maxed is 25~50 depending on where I am and what I’m doing. (full screen, 1600×900)
I’d imagine your older hardware (ie, DDR1 ram when the base of most systems now is DDR3) is bottlenecking your performance, so I’d invest in a more recent motherboard or, if you have the funds, an entirely new system.
Resolution can also have a huge impact on performance. running at a lower resolution in windowed mode may drastically increase your performance

Fields are one of the most important parts of the game. The fact that so many people in this thread don’t even know what they are explains a lot of the pugs i’ve been in.
The entire meta is based around stacking might and fury via fields.
Anet clearly needs to add a tutorial for this ingame.
mm, even something as simple as a scripted scenario with a wall of fire and shooting bandits in the face through the wall to trigger flaming arrows would be a good stepping stone for the question of “well, what else can I do with this mechanic?”

Combo fields, finishers and their various effects are never truly explained within the game itself. I and many others got their knowledge of blasts either from other people or the wiki.
This all comes back to the flaws with the NPE and how it simplifies the already simple without explaining or introducing the more mechanically complex but necessary aspects of the game like blasting fields and so on(I made a post about it at the time, you can, should you so desire, read it here)

I don’t see anything conspiratorial about it given that almost every social media website/search engine/etc tracks you unless specifically instructed not to. It’s a pretty common practice and makes sense given the huge loss of income this would incur unless they had an alternative revenue stream in mind

So I’m eligible for a free upgrade of my OS to windows 10, but I’m concerned about how this will affect compatibility for GW2 (as I know Windows 8 had a myriad of compatibility problems with a large number of games on release).

So yeah, the amount of things the reviewer says he doesn’t understand or is confused by is rather… alarming?
I understand there’s some satire in the video, but if a professional game review website has people that are confused and lost by HoT, I’d say that’s a point of concern.
Some of the main things said in the video:
“The new expansion, coming whenever”
Verdant Brink is one giant dynamic event… it’s actually slightly confusing
“let me introduce the mastery system, I don’t understand it at all”
While the events are engaging and exciting, it does detract from the actual zone because you can’t explore and take in the beuty of the map

We’ve all seen it in EOTM at some point. someone’s bought sentries from observatory and placed them in spots that make them next to impossible to attack, whether that’s glitching them under bridges or in terrain, to inside walls that have then been repaired or spots accessible only via blink glitching.
This offers an uncounterable method to observe the enemy team, and has been a long term issue in eotm since… well… forever.
I realise EOTM is considered “baby” WvW, but this is still an issue that greatly affects the people that regularly make use of the map. Will anything be done about this?

The Human Male PC is still Nolan North, same as in the core version of GW2. Could you be more specific about what you mean when you say it sounds significantly changed?
Tonally, we did shoot for a terser, more urgent and in-command feel to the PC’s lines, as arriving on the scene of the Pact fleet wreckage is a much more intense situation than, say, bantering with Lord Faren at a party (as seen in the Human Noble Personal Story).
from the footage I heard, not just the tone change but the entire form of the vocals. the “vanilla” human male has a very refined and unique voice, and seems very composed under pressure (in a good way) and this new take on it seems to contradict that original portrayal (and seems to lose the accent a fair bit)

I’d love to see an option to purchase the specialisations for gems as an account unlock for those who do not wish to purchase the entire expansion (Something like 1,000 gems per spec, given gems can be purchased through gold).
I doubt it will happen, but it would be a neat little feature for the pvp crowd who have no vested interest in the pve content but still want to mess with elite specialisation builds.

From the footage I saw of the various interactive dialogues of the playable characters, either the human males voice has significantly changed, or there is a new voice actor.
This presents a very weird inconsistency with the rest of the story.
If there is a new voice actor doing lines for the races, will all ambient/reactionary dialogue be re-recorded, or will we have weird and splintered voices moving between the “old” voice of the character in reactionary/ambient/vanilla personal story dialogue and the new HoT dialogue.
