sent mine, had to research a few of the answers though :O
not sure where any of this info about ele specialisation has come from other than 100% pure speculation. source?
so other than the name, it’s pure speculation.
I highly doubt there will be a “wind” attunement, given we already have air, and it’s been stated the mechanics for the specialisations are different to the main class (ie, when in the specialisation mode, it’s likely you will not have access to fire/water/earth/air attunement, but something else, until you switch back out to base ele).

This only happens to me if I’m not facing my target properly when the cast finishes since Life Blast requires facing.
I’m definitely facing my targets when I get this bug
I’ve been noticing the past few days that sometimes the Life Blast projectile (deathshroud auto attack) simply does not appear (no obstruction or animation cancelling, the projectile just doesn’t appear at all), though all animations and sound effects make it look as though life blast has been cast successfully, no projectile appears and nothing records in the combat log. I’m not sure how to replicate this bug as it seems to be sporadic and random in when it happens.
When this bug does affect me, I have to stand on top of enemy mobs to damage them. if I am standing on top of the enemy (ie, my character in contact with them) then the damage goes through as it should
The past few days I’ve been noticing a major issue with life blast (Deathshroud auto attack). The attack still animates and the skillbar looks as though all is happening as it should, but the projectile itself does not appear. sometimes the projectile just doesn’t appear. nothing comes up, no damage in the combat log or anything. I have to stand right on top of my target if I want to damage them in ds when this happens. Is there a fix for this, at all, or has my character just somehow glitched out?
I adore necromancer because they are very solo friendly, amazingly fun to play and do well in all game types (being meta =/= doing well)
Literally the only reason necromancers aren’t part of the speedrun meta in pve is lack of a blast finisher or fire field. Everything else about necro excels.
Most self-sufficient class in the game in my opinion
traited 100% crit in death shroud
Hitting like an absolute truck as a power build
the game’s best safety net in terms of saving yourself from death (ie, deathshroud, effectively a second health bar)
Being an utter menace to all who dare oppose you in pvp/wvw, as either power or condi
undead minions made of bones and internal organs
soon to be a greatsword wielding deathknight
Great theme as a whole
There’s only one thing I dislike about necromancer, and that’s the colour of the particle effects (really not a green fan) and that’s easy to overlook considering how fun and engaging I find the class in all aspects of gameplay
(edited by rapthorne.7345)
it will not remove it, just allow you to use life force for something else while in the necro specialisation, as all classes gain access to new class mechanics when their specialisation is active (but do not lose any old mechanics).
I for one am hoping for augmented skills/attacks where you can toggle it on, and when toggled on, every attack/skill has a special effect that drains a percentage of the LF bar (say adding conditions or boons to your skills)
Well, this got off topic. So I can take away from this then that I can not enable my GW2 BGM during DS mode?
That’s a pity, luckily I have the sound track on my computer, so woo
buy 500 crystals and start making mystic clovers. the alternate stuff you can pull out of the forge from the 10 clover recipe can be pretty awesome
I am curious as to why the sudden shift in attitude. Any reason for it, other than “oh, we finally realised what every other online gaming company has known for over a decade, that RMT involves fraud, identity theft and account theft”?
Hi, I would like to inquire as well what a decent, cheap lap-top would be to run GW2 on. I don’t care if it’s absolute mininum settings only I just want something to do (crafting, buying/selling on TP) in the meantime during my breaks at work.
My budget is probz $400 or less (Aussie).
Unless you absolutely 100% NEED a laptop for business/study reasons, I strongly, strongly advise anyone on a budget to go for a desktop. You get far, far more for far less with a desktop over a laptop
Any laptop built in the last 5 years with an intel integrated chipset could play the game on low/medium at 15/20 FPS.
I dread to think how old your laptop was
I have yet to come across an MMORPG where the mage dps class wasn’t incredibly overpowered, or at the very least hugely overcompensated for being “squishy” (let’s see, massive heal spam potential, invulnerability, insane mobility, heal on spell cast, boons out the kitten, etc).
Ele’s strength comes from the sheer versatility of the attunement class mechanic, they are not jack of all trades, but master of them. A good elementalist can do pretty much everything

To me knowledge, it triggers every 10th second server time (so 00:00:10, 00:00:20, etc), so if you got a condition at 00:00:17, it would be cleansed at 00:00:20.
I’m not 100% certain about this though and can’t get on my ranger to test it right now
So I saw these two players inside a cell in the jail in Rata Sum, and I was wondering how you got inside them? Would be awesome if anyone could let me know
Yep, dreamcleaver is unique. I still enjoy it, though.
rapthorne, I’m not discussing items offered through the actual Living World Season 2 content. What I’m making mention of is the items offered through limited-time events, such as the Christmas one, which offered an additional home instance node as well as the Star of Gratitude, which I explicitly mentioned. These items are just as unavailable as those that were offered in Season 1; gems are not a factor in any way, shape, or form.
Seasonal content will return, I’m certain, during the appropriate season. For example the candy corn node returned last year when it was previously believed to be only available for the Halloween content of 2013
Given the living story season 2 is available to anyone for a small gem investment (200 gems per episode, which is like 30-40g, not a huge deal) I don;t see a reason to include season 2 rewards in the luarel vendor. Season 1 is understandable given the unavailability of the episodes to play through
Particle recolours:
One time use items for 800 gems that permanently unlock a different colour for your character’s particle effects.
I dunno about anyone else, but on my necro the green/black particle effects clash horribly with my desired character theme and look. Would be great to see an option to customise the colour of particle effects (or hey, even customise the colour of each individual skill).
Legendaries change particles entirely, so we know that particle replacement is possible with the game’s engine, and let’s face it, changing the colour of something isn’t an agonisingly huge amount of development work.
As an example of what I’m, talking about, say buying a blue particle pack turns your mesmer’s zappy greatsword auto attack/skills from a gaudy pink to a cool blue

as this is a trade for something not related to the game (ie, not a game item) then customer service probably will not help you. You can try reporting them via a customer service ticket, but I doubt it will make any difference.
Pretty sure asking for real cash for commissions is against the forum rules. You can however ask for gems/gold/items.
Yeah, you are most likely violating a lot of copyright laws and such with this.
You should seriously review this before you find yourself in a whole lot of trouble:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/legal/guild-wars-2-content-terms-of-use/
May I use your art or images for items, such as clothing, toys, or other game-related goods?
Our art assets-be they concept art, in-game screenshots, verbal content, or renders-are all copyrighted materials. Their use is strictly prohibited unless approved in advance and in writing by ArenaNet.
This.
You can give these away for free, but you can not sell them.
Necros are OP in downed state, though
Biggest thing that irks me about necro: not having the back ground music when using deathshroud.
Is there a way to get bgm while in DS mode, or will I just have to use my GW2 soundtrack on a media player?
I don’t see why a class that has absolutely insane amounts of conditions and mechanical tricks in pve and pvp has any right to pump out the same level of damage as other classes
I guess Poseidon would be a trident, Apollo would be warhorn and Athena a spear?
But then it wouldn’t make sense to name Tyrian weapons after Earth Greek Gods…
We have a Mjölnir (Thor’s hammer from Norse mythology) so it’s not like there’s no precedent.
I’m sorry if you actually killed that many giants by mistake, though. That’s impressive. o_o
This.
That’s hilarious, get PvPing if you want the slayer title.
Sorry forgot this was not confirmed.
Not sure if this is sarcasm.
Datamined info is never confirmed and given the skills don’t even have names yet may very well end up being very different or even removed by the time of release.
Corrupted weapons are great ice weapons, not really any ice armour, though.
Having said that, with the right dye any heavy armour could look like it was made of ice.
Revenant staff skills were datamined, no confirmation of whether this will be in the final product or whether they are melee or ranged skills.
Just a bit disheartening how many questions went unanswered because they “weren’t ready to speak about it yet” and you could tell Joe was getting frustrated, despite the smiles.
You guys are awesome! Wanna see a Vivi too
could probably achieve close to that with an asura in the hexed outfit
Dervish, without question.
Make warhorn 5 grant aoe swiftness and might stacks and make warhorn 4 a blast finisher, allow the staff skills to act as combo fields when not triggered, let spectral wall reflect projectiles and extend it’s active duration, swap out well of power’s dark field to a fire field and extend it’s active duration to 10 seconds.
There, I just made the necromancer a useful class in dungeons while barely impacting overall class balance or changing the feel of the class as a whole.
Pretty sure it was very widely criticised at the time the NPE happened, you’re about 6 months overdue, OP.
I myself wrote several long and well-supported topics on the subject of the NPE, but it’s pretty safe to say at this point they have no intention of changing things or adding back the content they removed
I love the shiverpeaks, but every single map is fantastically beautiful, even a map like Divinity’s Reach is utterly amazing, but all the beauty gets overlooked by people always in a rush.
if you enjoy flashiness and being able to solo while being useful in a party, elementalist is probably a good way to go. ele is a very versatile class and incredibly strong (Highest ranged dps class in the game with a staff), they’re also always welcome in group content due to their ability to quickly stack a lot of boons (positive status effects) on people and have great tools (elemental weapons) they can summon to clear things very fast
it takes all of 20 seconds to waypoint to a bank if you need to distribute items across your account, so I see no need for such a feature
they seem to be doing them in conjunction with HoT reveals/progress. I strongly suspect there are more sales to come
I contacted player support and asked them to remove it because I’m on a dynamic IP and it got annoying to validate every time I wanted to log in. After some security questions they did it for me with no hassle
different strokes for different folks I quite like the look of most of the hairstyles and my girlfriend was adamant that her next asura WILL have the pigtail hair.
I like that they’re adding new, more stylised hair (Some of my friends have always complained that the hairstyles are a bit bland in the game), but they’re also adding pretty standard hair too (for example, the pigtails on asura, pretty normal way for women to wear their hair).
You have to realise that most people want to use the kits to look a little more out there and special. for most people, standard hairstyles you see every day in the real world don;t do that, and ANet will always try to cater to the majority when it comes to demand for gem store features.
wiki and tp are run on the same web server, I’d assume. they went down for maint
All the excitement.
Then you need to be local
maint on the BLTC seems to be over, everything’s working now
Outside of the Zerg and the “mandatory ´zerker meta”…..
- If you CHOOSE to follow the WB train (or play in EotM), you CHOOSE to participate in Zerg activities.
- If you CHOOSE to play in Dudgeon Pugs, you CHOOSE to be required to use Zerk gear to get in those PUGs.
Beyond that, I’ve never been FORCED to join a Zerg or put on Zerker gear. You definition of “mandatory” needs some rethinking.
The game is far from perfect, but all this hype about being “forced” to do something you don’t want to is pure BS. There is certainly a more “efficient” way to play the game, but short of Dungeons and Fractals every player is free to do as they choose in terms of gear, builds and feeling “pressured” to play as other do does not constitute a “Mandate”.
This guy gets it.
Just because a portion of the community want to do everything as fast as possible and miss out on the mountains of detail, asmosphere and awesomeness in the game doesn’t mean that those factors are not there, just that some chose to ignore them.
I ran a full level 35 p3 ac the other day, and it was loads of fun and pretty intense, rather than rushed and boring like speed runs are, this is just one example of where efficiency impedes enjoyment.
So map chat broke out in to a huge argument over whether condi or power is better in silverwastes for general event farm.
Is there a SW-specific build available, and if not what would you necro veterans recommend? I usually just run basic power necro for all my pve needs
Due to the megaserver system, anyone on the same continental megaserver (NA or EU) can play together. The only impact your server selection has is you can only fight for that server in World vs World pvp
love the game
non human armor quality is debatable
I love my Charrdian’s armour.
Not tried light/medium, though
