All the mordrem mean is that sylvari, same as every other race, are susceptible to corruption.

We had dragon minions of every race from multiple dragons in the past, where Sylvari were thought to be immune. Mordemoth just had a different method of corruption (through the dream). Many sylvari were able to resist the call, so I see no reason why they should be looked upon any differently than the other races

What’s trying to be said is that you can use a controller, but there’s no official suppport. You will have to use a key remapping software like xpadder to map certain keys and clicks to various controller buttons.

It might be a playable experience in action camera mode, but I’ve never tried it myself. Typically I always prefer a mouse and keyboard unless a game is designed with gamepad input in mind.

No, ram frequency has a negligible impact on performance across the board in pretty much every application, at this point it’s more of a “look at me and what I have” type of thing.

There are very few reasons to ever overclock your ram, you could easily fry your slots if not careful.

The best performance increase you can make for GW2 specifically is a more up-to-date cpu (get on the sky/kabylake train). Due to the engine GW2 is built on, it’s a pretty major CPU hog and utilises the GPU and other system resources very little.

You can change your skins anywhere, at any time, using the Wardrobe tab. And if you’re short of transmutation charges and really can’t wait you can buy them from the gem store and they’ll be delivered immediately.

I want more story on the other races. Primordus and Jormag is a great opportunity to get more detail and depth on Asuran and Norn lore and political systems. As much as I love my cabbages, the story as a whole right now seems to have far, far too much focus on Human and Sylvari and not enough focus on others.

it’s an overlay that just displays info available in the API, it’s fine to use and there are several overlay projects floating around. The one I use is Guild Wars 2 Personal Assistant Overlay.

These programs just fetch info from the API to give you access to game state info without having to tab out to a browser to do the same thing.

It only becomes something you can be banned for when it displays info you should not have access to (for example, using hex editing/ “ram reading” software), like player gear, location of someone in stealth in PvP, etc. That sort of thing.

With regards to the trinity comments, there have been several devs over the years state that GW2 is built on a “soft” Trinity, in that the trinity is still there and still something every class can build towards. Every single class available in the game has builds and skills that contribute in some way to one corner of the classic trinity. Sure, the typical healspammer support might be rare (but possible), but every class has some supportive, dps and tanking capacity that can be built on.

Some classes are definitely geared more towards a certain play style than others, for sure, but that doesn’t mean that oher options are not available. What is “meta” is player defined, not made by ANet. No matter what changes ANet were to make there would always, always be a meta build that is most efficient.

As for the lore, everyone’s different in that respect. Sure, some people might dislike not being the star of the show, but I actually find GW2’s take refreshing. You are not the star in the centre of the universe, but rather an important character in a much larger plot that involves the world and your guild as a whole, rather than just your character’s personal journey.

Difficulty is difficult to manage in an action game where damage negation is something every character has access to. How does one provide a sufficiently challenging encounter that takes in to account dodge mechanics and does not shoehorn people in to having to use specific builds to prevail (something that Anet have said they never want to do), all while maintaining the action aspect of things and taking in to account any one of a large number of team comps?

As far as new character skills. It would definitely be nice to see something new there, I have to agree. But I also don’t want to have to deal with the 6 toolbars of skills I have in other MMO’s. Each skill needs to be worth it’s place on your 6-0 keys.
We know at this point that new weapon skills will come pretty much only with new expansions. The point of multiple weapon classes was to expand the skill pool by changing weapons, rather than locking everyone to a single weapon type and making skills generic. I like this choice, myself, that every weapon has it’s own unique combat style, it’s not just a tool to hit things with while spamming generic skills.

I don’t believe there is a maximum listed limit, there’s only a limit as to how fast you can list items.

What would be nice is if they posted every Monday or every other Monday their list of returning items. Gives people time to get the gems if they are tight on money and let’s people know what days to log on if they aren’t playing regularly and also less people missing items because they didn’t check the gemstore for a few days.

People keep posting that artificial scarcity is a successful marketing ploy. The only thing it seems to generate w/GW2 is aggravation, frustration, and resentment. It may work in the retail world, but it’s been done there forever and people expect it, almost like a tradition. I think it doesn’t work here because what on earth other video games withhold their merchandise for months or years at a time? Never even letting their customers know when or if something will ever be back? From what I have seen, it’s just not done elsewhere, so its unexpected and just feels rude and kind of mean.

I’d guess you don’t play many MMO’s then, because almost every single MMO I’ve ever played that uses a cash shop also makes use of rotating out items and artificial scarcity. Only ones I can think of that don’t are the low income, low population F2P ones.

No one knows when items will rotate back in, so buy when you can. The wonders of artificial scarcity at work.

Not sure about websites. Not too many guilds these days actually have websites that are active and serve a purpose.

As for VOIP, Discord seems to be the way to go these days. totally free, anyone can make a server, great sound quality, multi-platform and low resource usage. Supports both text and voice, as well as direct private text and voice calls.

However, it seems clear to me that many people are thinking about it in perspective of Open world PvP in other games, which this game mode is not. There is no low Lvl killing, and it’s not free for all Open World PvP to do whatever you want.

what you want is essentially WvW with asset loss.
What would be the purpose? where would it fit within the game? Why have a crap “cops and robbers” faction PvP mode when we have giant maps dedicated exclusively to “faction” PvP (WvW)

There is no “easy” way really. Fractals have a decent chance of dropping ascended, but that’s about it.

I’d say ranger. Very easy to play, good all rounder and transitions in to an amazing supportive option as druid if you own HoT.

Good dps, almost unkillable in PvE content, amazingly fun in PvP, reaper is one of the most fun specialisations (once again, if you own HoT), and it has a much wider variety of play styles that are actually viable than other classes.

Crystalline Dragon Wings. Absolutely love them, especially the gliding SFX and animations. Just wish they were dyeable, instead of the inevitable 5 different colour swaps for 700 gems each.

Common sense seems to dictate that the reason such a feature doesn’t exist is to prevent accidentally selling items. I personally would rather have the extra steps to go through instead of irrecoverably selling something I didn’t intend to sell. An unbound legendary, for instance.

If 5-10% of your time on GW2 is spent selling to vendors, I suggest actually playing the game.

There are a myriad of studies on limited availability stock, in all markets, selling far better than stock that is always available. It is a tried and true marketing method that works. It would not be used across pretty much every retail sector if it meant less money for the companies employing the tactic.

The people that make these decisions have the qualifications and experience to know what to do better than some random commenter on a forum.

Yes, it sucks kitten for the people unable to get gems in time that hey miss out on things, but that’s the entire poi9nt. Having limited availability makes people far more likely to spend to get that limited item, and those that don’t spend probably aren’t big spenders, if they spend anything at all.

No, I see absolutely no benefit from open PK in GW2, and every single MMO I have ever been a part of that has open PK also has a disgusting community, something I would never want to curse GW2 with.

If you want open PK, find a game built from the ground up with open PK in mind.

Inactivity boots are a pretty common thing in online games of all types, and they help prevent the main city hubs from being clogged up with hundreds of people standing on the bank and TP NPCs. This isn’t BDO, where you are expected and encouraged to stay logged in 24/7

I very much agree, however I feel it’s fun mainly because people go in to it with the attitude to just have fun, as there’s no pressure to win or whatever.

In PvP, it’s always stressful because there’s always the pressure to win rather than have fun, and you always have people tryharding and making things even more stressful

The base game is F2P, and there are always people running around on the base game maps because of this. If anything, I would say the base game maps are MORE populated than HoT maps

Depending on your version of Windows, you can use the mklink command, which basically creates a shortcut, effectively redirecting where the screenshots are actually stored. You’ll need to first move the Screens folder to a desired location (D:\… in the example below).

Open a command prompt (cmd.exe) as an administrator and enter the following command, substituting your own paths:

mklink /J "C:\Users\%username%\Documents\Guild Wars 2\Screens" "D:\Guild Wars 2\Screens"

There’s no reason for you to crash using a 970. Check your nvidia drivers are up to date, and it might be worse making sure that your graphics card is securely in the pci-e slot, and screwed in place. A GPU that’s not properly inserted can cause all sorts of issues. If it’s especially prominent in PvP then I’d imagine the extra particle effects could be causing issues due to the card not being inserted properly or potentially being faulty.

There’s absolutely no reason that a 970 should be having any sort of issue with GW2 unless there’s something wrong somewhere.

Have you patched the game fully? Allow the game to patch completely before loading, launching the game while only at “playable” will cause various issues with textures and other fun stuff. Playing while not fully patched will cause higher resolution textures and effects to not render properly, as the high quality setting assets are usually the last things downloaded.

My girlfriend manages to play GW2 on a 4 year old laptop using intel hd 4000 graphics, so I see little reason for you to not be able to play.

The main thing I find disappointing is that ANet see quarterly balance patches as a good enough attempt, when anyone who’s ever seriously played a PvP focused esports game will know balance patches need to come monthly or sooner

$5 for a perm slot on a character is quite good given other companies have systems that charge you $10+ to “rent” a bag extension for X amount of time.
