Can’t keep everyone happy.
I absolutely adore it.
Update: Newest build seems to resolve this issue.
There’s one about half way up the light house on the inside wall, you can shoot it from the other side of the lighthouse on the walkway looking in.
Tip: I’ve found first person mode really, really helps locating these sneaky little buggers.
Also super happy the quaggan village finally has quaggans
and the tads and children getting along super well
Same issue here. crashes when activating or deactivating tag. it’s fine if you log back in after your tag is on, though.
Just got to check out the shiny new LA and I am mindblown. It looks absolutely bloody amazing. Still sad I never got to experience LA 1.0, but this is absolutely outstanding.
Please never blow it up again ?
I used to enjoy using auto target, but after having it off and getting used to it, it really is clear how much of a hindrance auto target is, especially in situations where you absolutely do not want to target something.
Won’t ever go back to having auto target on, myself.
I’m looking to transfer to Fort Aspenwood server to be on the same server as the majority of my guild.
FA always shows as full in world select and I’m told it varies at different times of day/the week. What are the best times to attempt a transfer to FA?
Welcome to the concept of value decreasing over time.
Look at WoW, they were doing a promotion for new players to get them in to the game where if they paid $60 for WoD, they get EVERY SINGLE OTHER EXPANSION EVER RELEASED (several hundred dollars going by each expansions release price) for just $5.
That’s the way the world works, with exception to a very small amount of items, the value of products tends to decrease over time.
this is the massive downside to true RNG chances with minuscule rates and is why there are so many conspiracy theories about some accounts being “luckier” than others.
I’ve also never seen a pre, doubt I ever will, and I’ve accepted that as pretty much inevitable until precursor crafting due to the terrible way in which precursors are found (ie, 100% pure RNG).
Really looking forward to it
absolutely dreading the potential size of the patch, though.
Prepurchase Delay: "Order being processed"
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: rapthorne.7345
So I just bought two ultimate editions for myself and my girlfriend, but my order is being processed still? It’s been like this for about 20 minutes now (Purchased from the UK via PayPal with PayPal funds available on the PP account). Has anyone else experienced a delay in serial code delivery?
pcgamer blog website =/= actual journalism/news.
The simple fact is, cross-platform development takes a huge amount of resources and time, and likely simply isn’t worth the investment cost
I enjoy the minimalist UI. Far better than having 5 rows of skills and other crap cluttering the window. The issues with FPS drops on certain interfaces being opened does need to be addressed, however.
I’m not going to bother responding to any points made, as I won’t contribute to yet another positive post being derailed by rage.
I for one am really hyped for the expansion. ANet haven’t let me down in any big way like other game developers have, and I can’t wait to be able to explore the heart of the maguuma and experience all the awesome features like specialisations and gliding.
The recent backlash is absolutely not representative of the community at all. GW2 has by far and away the best community of any MMO (perhaps even any game period) I have played in over a decade. I’m sure once all this silliness blows over the community will be back to it’s old self and we’ll all be venturing in to the lair of Mordremoth together.
I totally understand what you mean by GW2 being a truly multiplayer experience. ANet have really pushed for the cooperative PvE experience rather than a competitive PvE one (Something I feel contributes to the generally good attitude of the community) and they’ve done it masterfully.
Rage and drama aside, I’m truly looking forward to HoT and everything it brings with it at launch and in the future.
NCsoft is selling it on amazon.de, not a fraudulent practice involved for sure.
Technically it is a pre-order till tuesday, but than it is a pre-purchase working the same way as ANet’s offer.
not at all. it is a preorder no matter what, according to chris. The ONLY way to officially prepurchase (not preorder ready for release, entirely different thing) is to buy via the website/in game
My interpretation of this is that as long as at least one of your guild leaders/officers with sufficient permissions owns HoT, your guild can claim a guild hall.
Whether or not guild members without HoT can access the guild hall (Given the instant teleport nature of it after being claimed), I do not know and really would desire clarification on. I sent a support ticket about this and support said they didn’t know, so yeah…
Hey all,
Heart of Thorns is currently only available offically to purchase through our purchase site and in-game through the gem store. There have been a number of 3rd Party websites/services offereing Heart of Thorns for sale, and many of them are currently not officially authorized to do so.
These sites are most likely getting their keys through fraudulent practices, which means there is a VERY high chance that if you purchase from these websites that the key will be disabled shortly after. This will result in your account being closed for fraud, and Customer Service will require that you purchase HoT though legitimate means before you can access your account again.
For your account’s sake, please be careful when purchasing your HoT key through a non officially authorized 3rd party.
To clarify:
The only way to officially Pre-Purchase right now is through the official GW2 website, or in-game. This does not cover Pre-Ordering, which may exist on a number of reputable resellers. Pre-Purchase and Pre-Order are different.https://www.guildwars2.com/retailers/
Here you can find a list of authorized retailers
The other factor for Reaper to consider is that our most powerful ranged option, deathshroud, is being changed to a pure melee spec, with no option available to utilise DS while specced for reaper (Something I honestly feel should change, say F1 for DS, F2 for RS)
What necromancer NEEDS is a developer who cares about, understands and can empathise with Necromancer’s problems.
I have never seen a developer say they main necromancer on any platform (In game, forums, reddit, other social media) whereas we have a myriad of developers proudly maining mesmer/guardian/warrior/thief/etc.
In short, we need a voice on the dev team, and that seems to be something we sorely lack right now.
So, many Necromancers are concerned about the impact the change to mobility skills (ie, adjustments in move speed no longer affecting travel distance) will have on reaper and it’s clear dependence on chill in PvP.
I, personally, consider it a pretty huge indirect nerf to any PvP build that relies upon restricting mobility
I myself am concerned that high mobility classes will be able to dance around reaper uncontested without chill impacting their mobility skills and escapes, are my worries unfounded, or what’s the deal here?
A good, healthy discussion on this would be great

People on both sides of this argument are doing the same.
I’ve been called a sheep, kitten, white knight, fanboy, kitten, moron, kittenwit, etc (Many of which I’m sure will display as kitten) purely for not sharing in the opinion that ANet are ripping veterans off and being happy with money spent.
So I’d say practice what you preach.
The only tier I have issue with is Ultimate.
To me, the top tier of a multi-tiered game purchase option should have the most exclusive, awesome goodies available, here they’ve just sort of plopped on 4k gems as an afterthought.
I appreciate it’s the first ever gem discount they’ve done, but ultimate to me does not feel “ultimate”. I myself would have preferred more exclusive goodies over some gems.
rapthorne, i see your defense about this as: they are allowed to try to give us an unfair deal, cause we had a great time with the last deal they made with us.
I completely disagree. I paid for GW2 3 years ago, i got what i paid for, and i enjoyed. This time it is not the same deal at all: They want me to pay for a bundle and i wont receive that bundle, just a part of it.
You get one key, this is not a bundle. There’s no way to separate the base game key with the HoT key, to use them on different accounts for example.
That one key does two things depending on what you, personally, choose to do with it. You are getting more options than a new player, but still have the option open to you to make use of the free base game inclusion on a new account.
You also get all the time, enjoyment and experience you’ve had from the game up to HoT.
Look at WoW’s draenor deal. new players can get draenor, and only have to pay $5 for EVERY SINGLE EXPANSION WOW HAS EVER RELEASED, so long as they pay $60 for draenor. That is expansion content that veteran players have spent hundreds of dollars on over the years. There’s no outrage over at the WoW community, because they can grasp what most people here seem incapable of: that the value of a product mostly goes down over time, and that allowing new players an easy access gateway is good for game health.
GW2’s base game now is not worth what it was at launch, and ANet are doing the best they can to ensure that new players are not cut off by a divide or extra expense of buying the expansion or sticking with the base game. it’s a good idea and I support it. This approach is good for game health, it’s good for new players, and in the long run it’s good for veterans, too, who will have more people to play the content with rather than be segregated by pay walls.
Veteran players have had up to three years of content enjoyment, much of that unique and non-repeatable, that newer players will not experience.
I am utterly baffled that people can not grasp this concept that what people paid 3 years ago is not representative of right now.
People that bought the game in recent months who purchased it purely as a gateway to HoT, their upset I can understand, but not long-term veterans. (PSA: GW2 customer services is working out refunds for those who DID buy recently who want instead to just outright buy the expansion)
You still don’t see the unfairness, ok fine i give +1 that i was able to played the game longer time. BUT! We should at least get the same thing if we are require to pay the same price! well its not the case here. If you are new to the game you’re $50 will get you the core game(new account code) and the expansion. If you already have the game you can only get a code to upgrade your account! So no new account code! WTF! If they want to add core game as a separate bonus item then i should get it also! i may not need it but i can give to a friend! So why cant i even get that!? The only way to get all they stuff that was sold to me is if i make a new account with the with expansion, but my old account then will not have access to the expansion! ANET really need to do something about this BS.
Actually either way you get a code if you buy via the website.
This code can provide one of two things.
a 100% new account with absolutely nothing unlocked and 5 character slots as well as HoT access, OR it can upgrade an existing account to grant HoT access without in any way impacting your account progress or taking away from what you have already experienced within the game.
The choice is available to you to create an entirely new account to experience HoT with, you have to make a choice whether you want to use your code to create a new account and give up everything you’ve ever worked towards on your old for HoT access, or apply the code to an existing account for HoT access.
So no, new players are not, in actual fact, getting any more than veteran players. Veteran players are being provided with two options for what they wish to do with their access code, either make a new account with HoT access, or upgrade an existing account with HoT access.
Just answer this. If we pay the same price and new players get core game as “bonus”… where is my bonus?
Up to almost three years of access to the game that new players have not had?
You always have the choice to use the key to create a new account, nothing’s stopping you. If you truly believe that you need to get the base game bonus for your money’s worth then go for it, that option is entirely open to you.
You also get all the time, enjoyment and experience you’ve had from the game up to HoT.

Trion’s myriad balls ups are far beyond this minor marketing derp.
I say that as someone who bought an archeum founder pack and now no longer play due to Trion’s generally crap management of the game’s issues and the massive pay to win involved with the game.
You link HoT to your account not your computer so it affects only the account it’s linked to.
This. The expansion is account based, and one purchase of the expansion will only apply to one account in the game

That doesnt make sense. Surely if conditions are becoming more dangerous our cleanse should be buffed not nerfed?
To my knowledge (Though admittedly I don’t play other classes very much) we are the only clas capable of cleansing all conditions with one skill.
On top of this CC is a heal that is also immune to the poison heal reduction due to cleanses queuing before the heal queues.
Due to this, and the sheer impact it will have on attempting to use conditions against a necromancer, there needs to be some drawback to the use of CC.
Personally, I feel like 4 seconds is a tad too long and perhaps it should be lowered to two or so for a more reactionary approach, but I do agree with the overall decision to give some form of downside to the only skill I’m aware of that can totally cleanse someone of all conditions (on top of offering a poison-immune heal).
This is of course merely my own, personal, opinion looking at it from the sheer increase in value condition cleanses will experience post-23rd and necromancer’s already good level of condition management.
Conditions are about to become vastly more powerful than they were before, we have a skill that removes every single condition on us at relatively low cd on top of a heal, as well as condi necro damage output being buffed to the balls.
I think the consume conditions nerf/adjustment is fine as it is given how much more powerful and valuable condition cleansing is going to become post-23rd
Sorry but no.
Yes, designers are doing amazing work. And this work was destroyed one minute because of someone making a terrible marketing move. They should blame those responsible inside their own company. They are parts of the same company and the company is blamed as a whole.I feel no pity here. This is bussiness. The company failed and company will take responsibility as a whole.
Glad you support the harassment of devs that had absolutely nothing to do with this. Shows a lot about you my friend.
I’m glad the feelings of those that have created GW2 means less to you than an extra 10 dollars.
How immature.I’m not your friend. I do not support harassment. If this lady from OP feels being harassed how about taking advice anet always gives their players? Block and report and let their support team solve the issue. They are not children, those are grown up ppl doing their jobs. A company made a bad decision, now is the time to fix it. Emotional tweets won’t help with fixing this issue.
There’s a vast difference between random harassment in game/over pvp and being personally attacked by people for something that you have no control over and was a managerial/executive decision after putting your heart and soul in to a project for those very people.
There’s absolutely no justification on any level to harass or personally attack any of the staff.
Personally, I would not, as I’m utterly useless at them.
On the other hand, JP dailies would incentivise me to practice and get better at them
They will likely release a statement either today or next week
it had better be soon. the longer they leave this, the harder it’ll be to fix. this whole debacle is a good example of where Anet’s preference to keep quiet is backfiring like a cooked mortar shell.
I’d imagine they need to meet and discuss it internally before releasing a public announcement. Just rushing out a statement without all the staff being on the same page would not go well
They will likely release a statement either today or next week
They specifically stated that they are moving away from influence to prevent larger guilds just buying their way to being maxed out.
I truly am surprised that seemingly overnight veteran players have totally forgotten the sheer amount of love and passion that ANet employees have pumped in to the game and are pumping in to HoT.
Never before, in over a decade of MMO gaming, have a come across an MMORPG with such attention to detail, quality and charm as GW2. It’s clear the game has been crafted as a child of passion and love, not as a money making tool. I’ve fallen in love with GW2 and the people that makle GW2 happen, and will gladly support them for years to come if it means the game I love keeps getting bigger and better.

Just a reminder folks, at HoT launch we wont even have full set of legendaries. That alone should speak about the size of dlc called heart of thorns
That HoT will be in active development with additional content being patched in over the next few years?
Sounds like a plus, to me.
You preordered the game, HoT is not released yet.
I’d advise reading things before you blindly purchase them in future

You’re proud of prepurchasing a product you don’t know when will be release nor what it will contain in its totality? I guess some people really to take pride in their stupidity.
I take pride in my trust of Anet, as a customer of theirs since GW1, to deliver high quality content to the best of their ability.

its one map, guild halls, and a few new mechanics…. its not huge
And 9 class expansions, a new class, new wvw map, new pvp map, a new storyline, new progression, craftable precursors, new armour and weapon skins, unrevealed content as well as likely another several years of continued content development on top of all the features at-launch.

The one and only issue I have with HoT’s preorder purchasing right now is the slow trickle of information.
I support the preordering and support current prices (Mine is a purchase based on trust, as I believe ANet will deliver), but I entirely agree with players saying that more information about what we get with HoT is needed , even if you simply speed up reveals or reveal multiple specialisations simultaneously.
I wrote something akin to this before, but with the forums being all wonky on and off, I’m not sure it ever got posted.
As to the inequality issue:
Everyone, new and not-so-new get exactly the same thing. A serial code that offers two choices – create a new account that includes the core game and HoT expansion, or upgrade an existing account with HoT expansion.
New players and old players both get this same product. Unfortunately, the new players have less choice than existing players, as they can not upgrade their existing account because they don’t have one. They have to start from scratch. Veteran players don’t have to start from scratch; they can use all their existing characters, all their existing resources and wealth, and be far ahead of the new players when it comes to HoT, or any part of the game, really. Veterans can, if they so desire, use their serial code to start from scratch just like new players with a fresh account and 5 empty character slots. They can create 5 Revenants, if they so desire, once HoT is live.
If anyone is getting the short end of the stick, it’s kind of the new players. They don’t really have a choice like Vets, and they have a long road to go to catch up to the Vets.
since you seem quite knowledgeable about the code thing, do i have to re download once HOT is live, or i can use the same launcher and it auto updates to HOT, since i bought it? or is that a dev question? ><
thus far they have been patching in HoT content piece by piece. everyone will use the same game version, but those without HoT can’t access the HoT content. they still download it to their clients, though.
what happen will city of heroes? i knew the game are dead but how?
NCsoft pulled the plug. The developers were excellent, the game itself was making small but steady profit for them, but they had bigger fish to fry and GW2’s not-so-successful launch to fund.
I adore CoH and played it for years (And support the development of city of titans), but there can be no denying that it was not making good profit. Revenue? yes. Profit? No.
They even switched to a freemium model to try and boost earnings and they still didn’t meet the mark thus, despite the huge community support, they got shut down.
GW2 is arguably one of the top 5 most successful and stable MMORPG’s in the west right now, CoH was a niche game for a niche market that only in recent years has expanded to a far wider audience (ie, the Superhero fandom and it’s explosive growth in recent years)
OP, you do realise that it was probably NCSoft that masterminded this, right?
I refuse to believe you’re this blissfully unaware of the ANet/NCSoft relationship
