This isn’t a wire stunt martial arts film/mmo, I see no reason to have such a feature.
In Martial Arts MMO’s the feature makes sense as a throwback to old films where this sort of thing happened (Crouching Tiger, hidden Dragon, etc)

Happens way more on my necro than any other class
I’ve not noticed any change in performance when I switched to 10 from 7
Soul eater needs definite improvement, other than that I’m pretty happy with the state of reaper, myself.
Having said that, I go for fun factor, not 100% optimal DPS
Soul eater spec option should be reverted to the last beta version, the life steal on it right now is utterly worthless
sounds youre playing pve, which im still using berserker, but game goes live im probably going soldier armor and zerker weps and trinkets
Oh I’ll still have a full zerk set on me at all times, but I also want to be able to survive in coordinated raiding situations where I presume there will be more need for survivability.
But yeah my main focuses are PvE and WvW roaming
So I’m hung up on the stat set I want to use with reaper. Using spite/reaping/reaper, you can attain high crit rates using Death Perception so precision isn’t really necessary, thus cavalier (Toughness, power, ferocity) seems like a good stat set – however with the changes to the greatsword spec in reaper to only heal on gravedigger, I was wondering if having more health is more important than having the extra ferocity/toughness, as more HP means a bigger LF pool.
Thoughts?
The short version is ANet can’t “officially” support people under 13 playing the game, as GW2 has an ESRB rating of Teen, but in the end it’s down to parental discretion.
I highly doubt anyone will get banned just because someone at ANet finds out they are under 13.
I’m glad we will finally have a dedicated healer. As much as I enjoy GW2, the trinity is something I’ve sorely missed, and is almost essential in providing meaningful group content
I’ve not noticed any more or less unpleasant behaviour since F2P.
Having a paywall doesn’t do anything to prevent horrible behaviour and attitudes (spend 10 minutes playing WoW, you’ll see what I mean). every game has it’s share of “bad apples”, there’s no escaping that.
All players use the same client and everyone’s client will have HoT content installed, purchasing HoT simply flags your account to be able to access the HoT content, which you will be able to access after launch, on October 23rd.
beta characters can only be created and used during beta weekend events, which are announced in advance on the launcher/website newsfeed and various GW2 social media pages.
Would love to see either this made a regular weekend event or have this particular event extended to a week or more, to accommodate the people who can’t endlessly grind for the blooms due to work commitments.
Trying to decide what runes I should go for for a soldier stat reaper, and I’m undecided between runes for chilling or good old fashioned strength runes, or maybe you guys have found a good rune set that’s outside the curret meta? Anyone got suggestions? I plan on playing my reaper as a front line brawler mainly reliant on RS
Restrict access to all other sections if you like, but this is a forum section dedicated to helping players and what players need more help than those new to the game and wondering whether or not to purchase the full thing?
I much prefer these sounds to the old, much less obnoxious, but could still be improved.
F2P will be great for the game, PvP wait times will be down, dungeon LFG times will be down, maps will be more populated, and the F2P restrictions will protect the economy and we finally have a way to get friends to try GW2 without forcing them or us to buy it first.
Don’t throw the “QQ wah wah veterans are being screwed” stuff out again, because F2P only have access to the core game with a great deal of limitations to protect the paid accounts, and the massive population boost this will bring will benefit almost everyone who does more than just solo play.
Will there be more gold spam? probably, but the pro’s of this move vastly outweigh the cons, and I for one fully support and welcome our new F2P buddies.
Grow the kitten up. F2P will be healthy for the game, there’s absolutely no reason to be against it.
Any chance of seeing an F1/F2 option to enter either DS or RS? Currently Reaper feels incredibly restrictive in terms of ranged effectiveness and many of us used DS as our ranged DPS option over staff/sceptre due to lacklustre damage/skills on the weapons
Overall, I’m just really happy to get some transparency, and I hope this will continue beyond the release of HoT, thank you Robert!
If this was implanted Anet might have to allow only male and female marriage contracts because it could be taken differently in another country. They would have to consider the option at an international level, unless they plan on making different versions of this particular feature for each country.
uh… no?
ANet has always been very pro-equality, and I see no reason to alter marriage systems for any country that GW2 is published for. If you don’t want to be in a same sex digital coupling of pixels then don’t be, but I don’t see how or why this would affect anyone at all.
There are even many Chinese MMO’s (A country that does not recognise same sex marriages or civil unions) that release with couple/marriage systems often allowing same sex coupling
I’d love c ouple system in GW2. It’s a staple feature of a large number of MMO’s and would make playing the game a much better experience for people, like myself, who play with their significant others
Anyone else expecting to glide... but don't?

Lol. I bet. It’s so much fun to glide, even though all of long glides ended with me splatting on the ground floor. There’s going to be a lot of pressure to revamp the vanilla maps to allow gliding.
I’d love it if they could, but I doubt it will happen.
At the very least though I want gliding in the cities. I want to be able to throw myself from Phoenix Roost
I actually really enjoy the aesthetic. They are NOT humans, they simply resemble humans, they should have the woody, plant like looks that they do, as that is a part of what the sylvari are and what allows them to stand out as unique.
What you’re asking for is a generic kind of wood elf/nymph look, which is bland and overused in fantasy. The Sylvari are unique and their aesthetic style shows that, it should not be changed just because you do not approve.
The forums are not a good measure of a game’s activity. Most often people will only post if they’re annoyed about something, and the vast majority of MMO players will never touch the official forums, many don’t even know the forums exist.
Items that are bound on acquire will unlock the skin for them as soon as they are purchased.

I am now throwing myself off cliffs in non-beta characters and expecting to glide, but meet the floor and my doom.
Why did you do this to me, ANet?
Raptr is an abysmal metric to use, given that most gamers will go out of their way to ensure bloated app trackers like Raptr don’t go anywhere near their systems.
Yes, it comes bundled as an optional aspect of AMD’s CCC package, but I and everyone I know using AMD GPU’s ensure it doesn’t install using custom install options.
It should be noted that the GW1 expansions were entire standalone games, not just an expansion.
[Beta Suggestion] Bring back the "Bug" button

You can report a bug via the main menu (escape) support option
You don’t need zerker to hit hard, I was killing people from 50% in soldier gear with one Executioner + CoD proc. But it isn’t OP at all either, in fact most of it is a bit on the weak side, there are a just a few things that are balanced already that feel nice.
CoD proc?
Chill of Death, I’d imagine.
We can’t proc cod yet, no fishing
I’d love to have access to both DS and RS for situational shrouding, there are times when you need range and Staff/sceptre just don’t cut it. Specing in to reaper essentially makes you a pure melee brawler
I do really enjoy the itzel village BGM. I just wish it wasn’t overridden by the standard or combat BGM constantly, it’s a nice shake up from what we’ve grown used to.

I wanted to drop in and share a few things. First and foremost, I’m sorry it’s frustrating. It shouldn’t be that.
Hopefully it will help when I tell you I checked in with the team that’s in the office this weekend for this event, and they’re aware of the problem with events stalling out. I’m at home, not in the office, so I don’t have more details, but I at least wanted to let you know.
Please don’t feel like you’re not contributing. We want you to have a great time, but this is also a true beta: Everything you tell us is helpful and making a huge difference. (See the revenant.) So let me assure you that the things you’re doing this weekend are making a direct impact on HoT.
Now as far as the gameplay. If something is blocked to the point where you are completely stalled out, beating your head on that wall, and you can’t do anything else to contribute to beta feedback or enjoy that particular part of the game, head off in a different direction. There are a number of specific things we need your help with this weekend, and if you spend some time with them instead for a while it might give you a more enjoyable experience.
Try out the new revenant, roll a class with an elite spec build you haven’t done yet, try Stronghold. Let us know how all of those things feel with different builds and classes, and what you think we should do to make them better.
If you really want to hang out in Verdant Brink, run around with an eye to daytime vs. nighttime. We want them to feel like two completely different maps, so think about that and let us know is we’re headed in the right direction. What we can do to make that experience better? (Besides make the events not stall out. :P )
I hope that helps as much as it can. Thanks for helping us test HoT!
The biggest frustration point for me isn’t the bugs or insane OP mobs or even having to resort to mob grinding for masteries due to event bugs, but the complete lack of developer interaction.
This is a bloody beta test, the developers should be interacting with us, collecting feedback, responding to concerns and making people actually aware that problems are being noted. It takes all of a few minutes to type up a forum post, so why doesn’t this get done? It’s frustrating to no end that you guys don’t even interact with us properly when we’re testing your product, let alone the general every day lack of interaction.
I’m not usually one to be short tempered with such things, but this is such a glaring flaw in Anet that has been ongoing for far, far too long. It needs to be fixed and fixed soon.
I’ve had no changes at all in my fps since updating to 10
The problem is that not everyone has access to all the tools required to deal with these mobs, and you will not always be in a situation where you have other people of various classes around to help you.
I mean heck, VB was almost empty tonight and it’s day one of the BWE
No, all progress in everything on your beta characters do not count towards your main account at all. the beta character slots use a virtual “clone” of your existing account to allow you to access bank items and the like, but have no effect at all on your actual account.
No. Convenience items like infinite harvesting tools should be exclusive to the gem store. I do agree there should be more to spend tokens on, but it should not infringe on the territory of the gem store.
I understand that VB is behind enemy lines and that we’re hard pressed to survive, but one of the crowning achievements of GW2 is it’s ability to let you truly explore and take in your surroundings while adventuring. In VB this is practically impossible to do outside the Itzl village, which is incredibly frustrating due to how beautiful VB actually is.
Almost everyone I’ve spoken to in VB map chat since the start of the BWE seems to agree that the map is very overloaded and needs some “safe spots” or at least a toning down of mob density to be able to truly experience the map itself. In it’s current iteration it’s just a mess of mobs and constant events and pressure without a break, and it’s really not very much fun. It’s not challenging or engaging, it’s just frustrating and annoying.
RS isn’t OP at all, but people are not yet familiar with fighting against the elite specs. once people have more experience against them, expect things to go back to normal.
I am strictly referring to PvP. See my first post for suggestion on how to visually compensate for the high range greatsword needs.
it’s really not viable in pvp at all (Unless you’re pugging unranked/practice modes), it attacks so slowly that anyone with half a brain can easily avoid all the damage from it, especially with chill no longer affecting movement skills.
All my beta characters are sylvari, and I’ve heard Mordremoth issuing commands to his subordinates, threatening the pact survivors and responding to his subordinates requests for help dealing with us.
I love Verdant Brink, it’s beautiful, but as it stands it just appears to be a very aimless event farm map. There’s no meaningful progression on the map beyond the day/night cycle meta, and there’s no direction through the various areas of the map, you just get dumped at the VB entrance and left to your own devices.
I’m hoping this is due to it not being finished yet, but if this is reflective of the finished product, I’m not very pleased
The only mobs I have an issue with are the snipers. When there’s multiple snipers there’s very few options available to you to stay alive unless on a class with a lot of active defenses
Yes, range 300 on Greatsword attacks would solve a lot, but how would you explain it doing damage beyond it’s reach?
The greatsword has a shadow trailer, the GS attacks could throw out these shadows as an augmentation to the range of the attacks
RS2 needs to either stop advancing when a target is hit or drag the target with it like the revenant staff skill does. how it is right now makes it horribly unreliable and incredibly clunky for skirmishes
Overall greatsword feels far too slow for it’s damage, it’s too easy to evade the attacks in pvp (as predicted) and the damage is very underwhelming for the attack speed, either up the damage or (ideally) increase the attack speed to be on par with other greatsword attacks.
RS in general feels weaker than it should be, even when using the attack speed booster mastery, the damage just seems underwhelming.
The elite shout just isn’t very good at all for the cooldown it has.
I feel that there should be some sort of passive damage mitigation within reaper’s shroud, as HoT mobs pack a serious punch, and being a light armour class all we really have to mitigate damage as a melee front liner is our HP pool, we don’t have the regen of the warrior, evades of a thief or mitigation of a guardian, we need some sort of passive defense mechanism
EU communities often have several languages spoken and are smaller, leading to quite a fractured community, this is why I always go to NA servers where I can though I’m in the UK, as NA communities have far less communication barriers and tend to be more talkative and less “clique” based.
Can we use skins from our account on our beta characters? The wardrobe or skins that are not yet unlocked on our account if we have them available? (I have a chaos longbow skin in my bank, can I use it on my Dragon Hunter without binding it to my account?)
Skin you have unlocked already yes, you can use.
This. Beta character slots are walled off from your normal account and have no access to TP, mail, guilds, etc but have access to a “clone” of your current account, including bank contents, unlocked skins, transmutation charges and inventory gold
Will I have to level a completly new char in order to go to the HOT areas and tinker with the elite specs?
No, beta characters begin at level 80 and get equipment boxes with stat selectable exotic weapons and armour.

I’m personally absolutely loving the notion of a mentoring system, or flagging yourself as willing to help others. I spend most of my in-game time helping other players and newbies in the low levels maps, and usually use my commander tag , but a dedicated mentoring flag would be wonderful.
